Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - RRRBC045

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (175 Customer Reviews)

This hitch-mounted 2-bike carrier has dual arms with anti-sway cradles to safely transport your bikes. The upright mast tilts for cargo area access, and the arms also fold down for storage when not in use. Anti-rattle hitch pin included.

Easy assembly and install. Took it for a spin day after i received it and it worked well. Heavier than expected. Well built. I'd give it 5 stars if it had straps for 2 bikes. It is a 2 bike rack after all. Pretty cheap move. Now i have to find and order more rubber straps.

Keep a 3/4 socket wrench with you because you may have to tighten the hitch bolt after a while. Rack got a little wobbly after 40 miles and needed another turn on the bolt.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. The bike rack does come with enough straps for two bikes.

Have had the rack for a year now, and I’m not a fan:

1. It’s very sturdy.
2. The rack holding the bikes flips up and down easily and snaps into place well.

1. The screw to attach this to my hitch feels a little thin, and no matter how tightly I screw it on, the rack inevitably wobbles a little almost immediately.
2. The sturdiness of the hitch comes at a cost — it’s wicked heavy. I’ve had well-built 2- and 4-bike hitches in the past that weren’t nearly so heavy. It’s a challenge to pick up and maneuver into my hitch receiver.

I have some suggestions that will make you more confident in your bike rack. You can use an anti-rattle device like item # e99007
etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer for 2" Hitches - Vinyl Coated Steel
to control the wobble. You can use item # e98942
etrailer Hitch Pin Alignment Collar for Bike Racks, Cargo Carriers, and Tow Bars - 2" Hitches
to install easier as it aligns your hitch and bike rack hole so that next time you install you can just lift and push then secure with a mounting pin.

While Ilike it overall, I'm disappointed that despite securing the rack with the strap, it moves so much that it knocked off the cap with the reflector on it. On the day it happened, I also had a flexible bike lock wrapped around the bikes because I had to run some errands before going biking. I was driving on the highway so it's not like I was on country roads. Also, that part is not sold by Rhino Rack or Curt who makes a nearly identical version of the Rhino Rack. I like the etrailer folks I've dealt with, but I'm disappointed in the Rhino Rack.

Adding a stabilizer strap like item # 18050
Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories - 61" x 1" - Qty 1
can help with swaying of the bike rack. An anti-rattle device like item # MPG908
Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System
will help with looseness in the hitch receiver portion.

4 stars due to slower than expected delivery. Bicycle rack was identified as in stock with expected free delivery 5 days later. Ordered on a Sunday and free delivery was identified for Friday. Each day the delivery date moved out another day with no indication that it had even been picked and packaged. Emailed etrailer to find out why. Received a response stating that free shipping was subject to many factors and difficult to predict. Item was picked and packed within a day of the response and received one week later than originally expected (12 days vice 5 initially expected). Fortunately, I didn't have any scheduled first use so I could wait. Unpacked the item today and everything went great. All material included, directions easy to follow, assembled and installed on car in about 15-20 minutes. Seems to fit tightly and securely. Tilts back to permit opening hatch as advertised. Price was competitive. Hoping to load the bikes on tomorrow and get out for a ride!

Sturdy/Solid rack with very easy install. Still trying to figure out why it wobbles on the trailer hitch
Love the tilt function

There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the hitch accessory like the bike rack which causes the movement you are describing. I recommend using an anti-rattle device such as part # RM-061
Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches
. It helps to tighten the accessory inside the receiver to minimize wobble.

Just returned from our first foray to a bike trail using the Rhino-Rack. Success! The rack was delivered promptly (I think the rack shipped within a couple of hours of my placing the order!). Assembly was very simple. Securing the bikes to the rack is easy. The instructions for securing them were clear and easy to follow. After driving a few miles I felt good that the bikes seemed secure on the rack even when traveling over some bumpy and uneven roads. And I really like the convenience of being able to tilt the rack away from the tailgate even with the bikes on it.So far so good, very happy with our purchase.

Great product

Great price

I’m impressed with the quality. We have a folding tandem bike and it really holds the bike securely. It required me to use a crossbar to mount the bike but that was expected.

I am a maintenance supervisor for the town of Atlanta bike has been in my unclosed trailer for over a I can drive straight to the beach and ride my beach bike.

No change good looking and tuff

Heavier than I was expecting. Took some time to get the bike cradles properly set to hold the 2 bikes I was trying to carry. The strap around the hitch and through the tires seems worthless and is rather short. Otherwise looks like it will work.

Have used this a couple of times and completely satisfied. Very easy to use. It's well built and easy to mount on the hitch

Loving my Rhino 2 Bike Rack! The wide 3 in. frame holders are great as I have Roll Elite Specialized bike and the frame is more flat & wide. 2 in. post fits my 2 in. hitch nicely on my 2017 Lincoln MKC. Very stable, good price and impressive customer communication! Have recommended to friends.

Really happy with this bike rack. Easy to put on and take off the car. Bikes go on easily and are held securely.

It is an excellent bike rake. I wish it were not so heavy

Rack arrived on time as specified when ordering, able to assemble, bolted to the car and get bikes loaded inside an hour which endorses the videos and instructions which made it look easy. Needed an extender bike bar for the wife’s bike but these are cheap and available anywhere, i.e. [retail corporation]. Seems to be a very solid rack with no rattles on the test run. Fully recommend for ease of install and use.

I've been very pleased with the Rhino Rack. Packaging was good. Assembly was simple. Fit tightly in 2" hitch. It's definitely made of thick, heavy duty materials strong enough to easily carry two bikes. The tilting function moves the (unloaded) rack a distance which completely clears the lowered tailgate of my Dodge Ram 2500, allowing access to the truck bed. When loaded with two bikes, the rack rides tightly when driving on bumpy dirt roads. I use a couple of bungee cords to secure the bikes to the rack and/or the truck, in addition to the tie-down rubber straps. Carrier arms fold neatly away. Rubber tie-down straps are thick and adequate length. No complaints. Very pleased.
Can't remember what I paid for this, but it was worth every penny.

Very happy with my bike rack. A little lubricating once in a while and it like new. Highly recommend purchasing a rack bike frame adapter if you have a MTB.

Drove from Michigan to Utah and back with this and never had a worry on my mind about my bikes. It was easy to remove and attach as well! No complaints here.

Excellent quality and ease of use. Hauled two bikes 1300 miles worked fabulous!

This rack is sturdy and was easy to install. I worried the levers might be hard to push, but it can easily be done with one hand. Loading and unloading 2 adult mountain bikes was a bit tricky at first (i had to try several positions for a snug fit). A great price for what I was looking for!

the Rhino Bike Rack is easy to load and it is easy to adjust so that you can get into the back of your vehicle. The Rhino Bike Rack, however, seems somewhat "loose" on my vehicle and wiggles back and forth either without hauling a bike or when hauling a bike on the back of the car.

The movement you describe is very common. Its caused by the differences in the manufacturing tolerances between the inside dimension of the hitch receiver and the outside dimension of the hitch mounted accessory, which is a bike rack in this case. The inside dimension of the hitch receiver is a bit larger than 2 inches, while the outside dimension of the bike racks shank is a bit less than that. If they were the same exact size, they wouldnt fit together. An anti rattle device like the # 63232
Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 3-1/2" Span
would deter theft, as well as tightening up that connection.

Solid and well designed product. Couldn’t be happier with Etrailer and RhinoRack . Already have a roof rack from Rhino so this is my second item from them. Love the convenience of handles/levers on my bike rack - beats using pins!

Its a year later and my bike rack from RhinoRack is still great! Would highly recommend this product.
Serge - 05/18/2020

Easy to install, easy to remove. Durable and sturdy. Easily carries both of our eBikes with little to no sway. Prevents damage from occurring to the car during loading, unloading and travel. Very happy with the cost& quality of the carrier.

Well-made, durable and dependable. Solid carrier, easy to load and secure both of our e-bikes. Very happy with the purchase.
Steve - - 05/09/2021

Well, the bikes never fell off, but the claims of stability are unwarranted. The bolt that supposedly holds it tight to the receiver hitch loosens up of its own accord no matter how much you torque it down, and then the bikes waggle back and forth like the scolding finger of a disappointed mother to her toddler.

The Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack is exactly what was described. The videos were very helpful for making a decision about which rack was right for us. We had a question after using it and customer service was very helpful!

  • Using the Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Carrier to Transport 2 Bikes or a Hospital Wheelchair
The Rhino Rack 2 Bike Rack, part # RRRBC045 is theoretically able to carry the hospital wheelchair. If this distance is less than 9-1/2 inches, the rack will work perfectly for you. As far as the compatibility with a trailer hitch receiver, the Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack # RRRBC045 will fit in any standard 2-inch hitch receiver. When determining whether the Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack will clear your spare tire, the measurement between the center pinhole of the hitch receiver and the end of your spare tire should be less than 9-1/2 inches in order to fit the rack. In order to guarantee the fit of the rack on your 2018 Jeep JL Unlimited, I recommend measuring that distance.
