Image Descriptor

The Convoy lets you carry 1 bike on the back of your vehicle. It has a padded, ratcheting hook that can hold your bike by the frame or the wheel. The large front wheel cradle and sliding, ratcheting rear-wheel strap let you carry a bike regardless of size, frame design, suspension, or brake style. A pin at the base lets you tilt the rack with your bike loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area, and fold it up for storage. It also has a locking hook and a locking, anti-rattle hitch pin that secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. A 1-bike extension unit (sold separately) converts the rack into a 2-bike carrier.

Pivoting Upright Arm with Ratcheting Hook

upright arm

The pivoting upright arm has a ratcheting hook that grabs your bike firmly by the front wheel or the frame. This hook lets you rapidly load and unload your bike, and it has a rubber pad that won't scratch or scuff your bike paint. You can bolt the arm to the rear wheel tube to secure your bike by the frame, or bolt the arm to the front wheel tube to secure your bike by the wheel. The wheel-mount option is perfect for carbon frames and other sensitive bike frames. Mounting hardware is included.

pivoting arm

The arm pivots nearly 180 degrees from left to right. This lets you fold the arm down when not in use so you can access your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Large Front-Wheel Cradle

front wheel cradle

The front wheel cradle is extra-wide to accommodate fat bike wheels.

Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradle

sliding rear wheel cradle

The rear-wheel cradle adjusts to accommodate most bike lengths. Simply slide the strap to where the wheel meets the cradle then ratchet it tight to secure the bike's rear wheel to the rack. The rack includes an extra-long strap that accommodates fat tires up 5" wide.

Tilting and Folding Option

Image Descriptor

A removable pin in the base lets you tilt the rack - with your bike loaded - for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. When you are not carrying your bike you can fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle and re-insert the pin to hold it in place.

Locking System

Locking hookLocking hitch pin

The locking hook secures your bike to the rack and the threaded hitch pin secures the rack to your hitch receiver. The hitch pin also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattling in the receiver. The sliding keyhole cover on the lock keeps out dirt and moisture.

Optional 1-Bike Add-On

Modular designInstalling the add-on to the base

There is a 1-bike add-on (sold separately) that lets you to convert the Convoy from a 1-bike carrier to a 2-bike carrier. To install the add-on remove the caps on the base unit, slide the tab on the add-on unit into the slot on the base unit, and secure it with the included hardware.

I find the Rola Convoy bike rake difficult to use. I purchased the rake to mount my ebike. The locking device is diffucult to adjust while balancing the ebike on the rack. Also there is a slight bow that developed in the rack frame near the mounting screws.

This bike rack isnt designed for E-bikes and has a weight capacity of 50 pounds. You might be interested in a bike racks that are made for E-bikes such as RKY10007 or INH110.

Very happy with this purchase! Bike rack is heavy duty and I feel like my ebike is very secure. Can’t beat the price point. I personally like it better than our other heavy duty bike rack, which cost a lot more. We easily made a modification to the rack, so that Grandma (me) could very easily and quickly lift my ebike onto the rack. One of the best purchases we have ever made! Thank you!

The instructions were a little hard to follow, but the installation went smoothly. The videos on the etrailer site were quite helpful both in choosing a bike rack and installing it. Seems to be well made and is easy to mount and dismount my bike. It works great on my 2016 Nissan Murano--just what a I needed. I recommend both the product and etrailer.

Still very happy with my rack. I especially like how easy it is to unhitchrehitch.

So easy to install! You can put the pieces together right on the hitch. It took maybe 15 minutes, at most. It fits my bike perfectly - I have an odd 20" tire folding bike. This was my 3rd rack! I almost gave up and a friend told me about this one from etrailer. It is not as hefty as other more expensive racks, still it is fine for the rated pounds. Easy to install and load the bike since it is low to ground.Once it is put together you only need to mount on the hitch, insert and tighten the pin and it's done.

Very well-made product and it did the trick with my four-inch fat tire 20" wheel ebike. Total time on the install was about an hour, mostly due to much head-scratching over the wording in the manual. On a redo, probably 15 minutes to half an hour. The only downside, which is minor, is that the front wheel chock isn't adjustable and it didn't come with a strap. Otherwise, it's extremely sturdy and should hold up to the beating I'll give it over the next couple of years.

I’m sorry, but I cannot recommend this bicycle rack at this time. On my first trip of 500 miles, it broke apart on I-5 south just 30 minutes before I got home. I was watching it on the front of my F-350, and all of a sudden my bike disappeared! I was fortunate to be able to pull over to the side of the freeway, expecting to find a mangled bike and that the locking crossmember had come loose. It was more than that. The locking/swiveling crossmember used to hold the bike down broke off and disappeared into traffic! Upon inspection I discovered it was made of potmetal! How cheap is that. I juryrigged the bike back unto the rack using my pants belt to secure it good enough to get home. I made it, but I do have damage to my truck and I have a worthless bicycle rack. I’ve taken the liberty to order another bicycle rack from another company and manufacturer. I contacted etrailer about warranty, and I may be covered, but I’ll have to send the whole kit an kaboodle back to them, they check it out, and if they deem necessary, send out a replacement. Shipping is all mine both ways. Quite frankly it’s not worth it. Even if I get it back, I’d never trust a Rola hitch again. My advice, don’t buy it. P.S. I attempted to upload my photos, but all attempts were unsuccessful, even after I reduced the photos to just 120K.

Pretty simple, easy to use bike rack. I leave it installed 24/7 and have no issues loading or unloading from the trunk. As far as entry level hitch mount bike racks go, this one's a winner.

- 59307

I looked at these style racks for over a year wanted to take it from a Toyota fj and use it on our motorhome.very happy with the quality easy to assemble and very sturdy. Save the money of the higher end units this is truly a great value. The only thing that might be of concern is the overall weight from moving it from vehicle to vehicle be aware its pretty heavy. No big deal for most but something to consider if heavier weight is a concern.

- 59307

After a year I haven't had any problems with the hitch adapter or the bike rack that it's mounted to. I appreciate the year out follow up, and would like to say that I appreciate the care and concern for your customers.

- 59307

Assembling bike rack was easy except for one hole was not drilled straight so the bolt would not thread in. I had to fix the hole by drilling it straight. Other than that everything else went fine. Bike rack works excellent.

- 59307

This really works well to secure my Specialized Turbo Como. I needed a rack that could hold the extra weight of an e-bike but didn't need a multiple bike rack. This one doesn't interfere with the hatch on my Escape with the bike off, and folds so it doesn't interfere with the hatch with a bike loaded either.

- 59307

Overall, this is a solid product, secure no rocking side to side, only up and down. Great for those who often need one carrier, and want to expand to two when needed. Caution it is 50lbs for just the base system. I added some extra reflectors for when it is in the up position, wish it went up 10 degrees more. etrailer was great to work with, all as described. I called the next morning to ensure I ordered correctly, only thing they could have maybe suggested, to get matching locks between the add on and the base unit, if possible. Reflectors or even a brake light kit if offered.

- 59307

This purchase was excellent. The product was better than expected. I was told by a bike store that a single bike rack was not made. Found entailer and ordered it online for my Subaru Forester (2021). Build quality and adjustability are great! Thank You

- 59307

This platform hitch rack was purchased to haul an e-bike. The previous rack was under spec for the e-bike’s weight. Overall the rack is great especially considering the price. It rides like bike rack car are all one unit. If I had a gripe it’s when removed from car it’s awkward, hard to move around, does not fit in any space well. I’m going to leave it on the car.

- 59307

Installed the rack in roughly half an hour. Easy to do. Great value with super functionality. My bike has 4-inch fat tires. Comes with extra long strap to fix the rear wheel. Just like everything about it. Comes with locks and keys. Perfect quick service by e-trailer once again. Highly recommend it.

- 59307

The customer service from etrailer is second to none, and this product is very good; sturdy.

- 59307

Super great service and fast shipping, I am so happy to find etrailer.com

Good, but the handle for the rack is kind of weak and cheaply made.

- 59307

Excellent customer service Product quality was as advertised

- 59307

Product came on time and not damaged . My hitch is scheduled to installation and I can’t wait to hit the road and try it out.

- 59307

Overall, It is a very good and solid rack for the money. It was easy to assemble and install and works well. However, I can't understand why a company that makes a relatively good product ruins it by using cheap locks that don't work. After installing the rack, I decided to check the locking device which locked the racks arm over the bike. Problem was it would not unlock. I could not get the key in the lock for love nor money and spent an hour or two trying. After spending a long time with the service rep on the phone, he decided to send me what he called a master key. (My bike had now been trapped on the back of my car for several days). The master key was a waste of time but eventually after a can or two of WD40 I got the key in the lock and unlocked it. Wil never lock it again and decided not to use the lock on the hitch pin in case that did not work.

- 59307

Works as advertised. I appreciate the flexibility, but with great flexibility comes great confusion! It took some doing to fiddle with the pieces to get the best combination of straps (had to switch to long) and holding bar (turned around and put on the cupped side), but I think it's going to work well. Kind of wishing now I'd gotten the kind that tilts on one end for ease of loading. My bike is pretty heavy. With everything attached, the rack seems quite sturdy and I hung it from the garage ceiling with a little hoist for easy attachment to the car. What else would I change? It would be nice to have it lighter. It's even heavier than the bicycle!

- 59307

All good! I have the one bike rack and and electric bike The center bar fold flat so that I can lift one wheel on then lift other Otherwise I would not be able put on a 50 pound bike Be nice if the demonstration videos showed loading a heavy ebike Only negative is that the rack is way heavy accompanied to others The instructions even say to build the rack on the hitch Otherwise two persons would be needed to insert the rack into the hitch

- 59307

Very well constructed, great customer s ervice!

  • How to Use Rola Convoy with 1-1/4 Shank on 2012 Jeep Liberty with 2 Receiver
There is not a specific adapter for the Rola Convoy # 59307 to adapt to a 2" receiver but you can use a hitch reducer sleeve like the Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HT02 to make the 2" hitch on your 2012 Jeep Liberty into a 1-1/4" receiver. I prefer this to an extension type adapter because it uses the existing receiver and does not extend away from the cross tube significantly, so it won't reduce your tongue weight by 50% like the # C45770 would.

Rola made two versions of the Convoy 1 single bike rack, a version that fits 1-1/4 inch hitches like part # 59307 and a version that fits 2 inch hitches like the # 59308 (no longer available). They do not offer a way to have either rack fit the other hitch size. So basically there isn't an adapter that would allow the 1-1/4 inch rack to fit a 2 inch hitch. You would instead need to also use a hitch reducer sleeve like the # HT02, which will slide inside your 2" hitch and create a 1-1/4" receiver that you can then use the Rola Convoy # 59307 on your 2006 Hummer H3.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for 50 lb E-Bike on Class I Hitch for 2012 Mini Cooper
For your application you're going to want to use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2 Bike Platform Rack # HR1000Z. This is designed for Class I - III trailer hitches and can carry up to two 45 lb bikes. It uses a middle hook to secure the bikes so you don't have to worry about contact to the fenders on your bike. The only single bike rack that fits your application is the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack # 59307 but it's a little more clunky and it weighs 16 lbs more than the 2-bike Sport...

  • Can I Put a 49-lbs Cruiser Bike on the Saris Sentinel Trunk Mounted Bike Rack
I may have a solution for you, but the Saris Sentinel 2 # SA1051 has a 35-lbs per bike capacity, so the total capacity isn't really as important as the single bike capacity. In this case, your 49-lbs cruiser bike would not be able to be safely carried on this rack since it is higher than the recommended capacity for a single bike; the weight capacity of the Saris Sentinel is partially controlled by the cradles and the securing straps, so it's going to be limited. There are also no trunk...

  • How To Carry a Beach Cruiser Bike On a 2010 Honda Civic Sedan
In order to carry a Beach Cruiser Bike on a 2010 Honda Civic Sedan you will need to install a trailer hitch and use a hitch mounted bike rack. The reason for this is because the limit for a trunk mount bike rack is 35 lbs. For a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11391 is what I recommend and for a bike rack, the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59307 is what I recommend. I am sure this was more than you were looking to spend but it's our most cost effective...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11222 which is actually the only available option. It does feature a no-drill installation. Then for a bike rack, the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59307 which has a wheel or frame mount design so you can use it on carbon fiber frame bikes is what I recommend.

  • Bike Rack For Kia Soul With Factory Spoiler
The Thule Gateway Pro 3 # TH78VR fits most factory spoilers and is confirmed to fit the 2016 Kia Soul without the spoiler but to be safe since you have a spoiler I would get a hitch and rack. You'll be able to access your hatch and it is MUCH easier to use than a trunk rack but that's just me. If I were you, I would get the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11419 which you can easily install yourself. I've included the installation video to help! If you're only needing to haul one bike I would recommend...

  • Can I Use The Rola Convoy Bike Rack For 1-1/4 On My 2019 Toyota Tundra With 2 Receiver?
Your 2019 Toyota Tundra most likely has a 2" receiver such as the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15398 that fits your vehicle. In this case, you will need to use Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HT02 which will convert your 2" receiver to a 1-1/4" receiver. This will allow compatibility with the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack # 59307 that you are wanting to use. If you actually have a 1-1/4" receiver already then this bike rack will work fine without any reducer. A...

  • What Bike Rack Do You Recommend for My Aventon 500 E-Bike on My 2021 Buick Encore GX?
I have a solution for you. Unfortunately, since the Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes # S64650 has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 35 pounds, you will not be able to use the XC2 with your 42-pound (without battery) Aventon 500 Pace e-bike. As far as the most economic options for single bike racks, we do not carry as economical as a solution as the XC2. However, we do carry a great option for a 2-bike rack. For this route, your best bet is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack...
