Specs:
The SuperClamp EX lets you rapidly load and safely transport 4 bikes on your vehicle's 2" hitch. This rack has front- and rear-wheel hooks to safely transport your bikes without making frame contact. The lightweight, compact design with a platform-style setup allows for rapid bike loading and unloading. Just set your bikes in the wheel trays, ratchet down the wheel hooks, and secure your bikes with the integrated cable lock.
It has padded, ratcheting hooks that secure your bikes by the wheels - not by the frame. This prevents the rack from scratching and scuffing your bike's paint or damaging the frame, which makes the SuperClamp EX an excellent choice for transporting bikes with carbon fiber frames.
The hooks adjust independently - just press the gray button and slide the hook up or down. This adjustability allows you to carry any combination of full-size adult bikes, women's bikes, children's bikes, alternative-frame bikes, and even bikes with fenders.
Injection-molded plastic wheel trays slide along the rack's horizontal arms to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. These trays secure in place with twist knobs.
Use the included ratcheting straps to secure your bike's rear wheel to the wheel tray.
There are built-in reflectors on the outside wheel trays that increase visibilty for both daytime and nighttime travel.
If you want to carry a fat bike with tires wider than 4-1/2", you can replace the rack's wheel trays with fat bike cradles (SA4419 - sold separately).
The masts are located at opposite ends of the base, making the SuperClamp EX extremely easy to load and unload. Because these masts are at each end of the base, instead of in the middle like most platform racks, they won't interfere in any way with your bikes as you load or unload them. Instead, they simply fold out of the way, giving you a clear path to the wheel trays.
These masts lock into the upright position for use, then fold down for storage and access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Just press down on the yellow button and rotate the mast to the desired position. The masts pivot on strong, case-hardened steel brackets that ensure long life and smooth operation.
There is an integrated lever that lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for access to your rear cargo area or fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. And it means you can leave the rack in your hitch without it interfering with your cargo hatch or backup camera. The compact design lets you easily store the rack in your garage when it's not in use. There is also a built-in bottle opener over the lever.
The SuperClamp EX includes locks to deter theft of your bikes and the rack. A braided, 10-mm stainless steel cable lock built into the base secures your bikes to the rack. The cable has a vinyl coating to prevent it from scratching your bikes. Simply thread the cable through the bike frames and attach it to the lock body at the other end of the base.
When not in use, the lock stores inside the rack's arm. A push-button releases the lock, so it won't accidentally slide out and drag on the ground during transport.
The HitchTite lock fits over the end of your threaded hitch pin to secure the rack to your hitch. The threaded hitch pin serves as an anti-rattle device to minimize movement and noise in the hitch.
Both locks have push-to-lock bodies that make them easy to secure and help to prevent accidental locking. Integrated dust caps keep the lock cores clean and dry. And the locks are keyed alike, so you can use the same key for both locks.

The rack tilts down with bikes loaded for cargo area access and folds up for storage. Includes hitch and bike locks. This is great bike rack. It arrived fast and just in time for our trip in mid July. My husband and I put it together quickly, we looked at a [online] video for how to put it together and went by the instructions booklets. It took us under an hour to put it together. It is very simple to load and unload bikes on it and the bikes stayed stable throughout our 600 mile trip and back. So overall, I am very satisfied with this bike rack. Will now see how it holds up with time.
This is a beefy platform rack. Assembly is easy and the directions are clear and simple. It is a heavy rack but that is expected for a 4 bike setup. The tilt and fold is easy to use.
Great rack: This holds the bikes more securely than any other rack out there. Light weight, and folds up small. 4 bikes seem to fit better on this rack, compared to Thule or kuat - with minimal interference. Only issue seems to be that the plastic wheel trays break easily. Keep their bolts tight.
This is a very solid setup. I've taken it on two local trips and one longer 4 hour trip including highways, narrow curvy mountain roads and so on. Never did the setup wobble. Also a comment about the legendary Saris warranty. One of the arms had a ratchet mechanism that wasn't working. I contacted Saris and within a week they shipped out a replacement. The swing down mechanism works well, but I would make sure to have a second set of hands available if you are planning to lower it out of the way with bikes already loaded. Without bikes loaded it is a snap. At the end of the day the best review is that my dear wife provided. "I am so happy you won't complain about taking the bikes to the beach now!". It really is so much easier than roof carrying bikes. Honestly in 15 minutes I can have the rack mounted and all four bikes loaded and secured which is so much easier and faster than roof carrying.
I throughly researched platform bike racks on etrailer.com. I thought I wanted a 4 bike rack that could be reduced to a 2 bike, bike rack. I ended up purchasing a Saris Freedom Superclamp EX 4 rack. This rack doesn't transition to a 2 person but it's so compact that when it's folded up I can't see it through my rearview window. It assembles easy and is very sturdy and easy to use. I never give anything 5 stars but I'm pleased as punch with this bike rack. A shoutout to etrailer - What a great website, everything you need to evaluate any rack is on this website. WELL DONE...
It was easy to put together! I've mounted 4 different bikes of all sizes and they fit great. I have not had the chance to drive long distances yet, but everything seems perfect at this point!
This is a great bike rack for those who need room for 4 bikes but don't want to stick 10 feet out the back. Really easy assembly, excellent operation, and seamless (and quick!) free delivery. Great experience.

I bought this hitch and SARIS bike rack from etrailer so I could mount two bikes on my 2019 Acura RDX. I had a local muffler shop install the hitch, as I didn't have proper tools. it took them 30 mins and $95. Hitch is solid! Looking forward to many years of adventuring! Many thanks, etrailer!

Love this hitch, easy to use, great quality! The folding option when not in use is very convenient and the tilt away makes its easy to use the truck bed.

I love the new Saris Super Clamp bike rack for 2 bikes that I purchased recently from Etrailer. I particularly like this rack because it allows me to fold the arms down so that I can open the rear trunk of my SUV. I also cannot say enough about the great service I got from Greg at Etrailer. He kept me informed on when the item was expected to be shipped, and both called and emailed me to make sure I knew when delivery had started and was expected to arrive

Noah was a great help finding the product for my needs. I have 2 heavy ebikes that I wanted "wheel contact" instead of "frame contact". After a careful assessment of my bikes' configurations (fenders, basket, rear rack), we decided on the Saris SuperClamp EX 2. It's perfect. Thank you Noah and etrailer.

I’m a 68-year-old female and I wanted a bike rack with the lowest level to lift and secure my bike. It worked out great!

I've only used the rack once so far, but I really like it. I used it on a 29er carbon mountain bike. Part of the trip was on a dirt road and also on rough and curvy paved roads. There is some play to the rack (from the hinge point of the rack), but it was quiet, and I don't recall ever hearing it. Nor did it look at any time like my bike was getting shaken to death. To be clear, the attachment of the rack to the hitch is rock solid. One of the things I really like this rack, and why I chose it over others, is that the integrated bike lock is a pretty beefy cable, and more importantly, it allows me to lock up both wheels and the frame. Many of the integrated locks on other racks only lock up the frame or one wheel, maybe a frame and one wheel, but not all three. I haven't tested the locks trying to lock up the frame and both wheels on two bikes, but it definitely works for one bike. This rack doesn't fold up as flat as other racks that I've seen, but the security was more important to me. All in all, I'm really happy with the rack so far. It seems well made and everything moves and operates smoothly.

I’ve been riding for 27 years. I’ve had many racks. When the hitch rack was 1st produced it was a game changer. No more taking off wheels, stretching to get to the top of a vehicle, damage to the car from roof and trunk racks or damage to the bikes from banging into each other. The hitch rack is the best rack and this is the best version.

The rack works well and adapts well to several different types of bikes. It's easy to use for everyone in the family.

Love this bike rack! It is super simple to use and accommodates both mine and my husband's bike. I can easily install it by myself (I'm small, 5' 120lbs) and load the bikes on without any help. The bikes feel very sturdy. I like that I can still open the hatch (with the bikes off). Would highly recommend!

I would recommend everyone to adjust (tension) the bolt that operates as the "hinge pin" on this rack. After tightening it down there was significantly less movement of the bikes when hitting potholes and such. I still sometimes tieing on of the uprights to a spare tire carrier adjacent to the carrier to further efforts to negate any slop.

Best bike rack I've ever owned. Works perfect with our carbon fiber as the design of this rack is 100% touchless! Secure and sturdy.

So I bought this for my 2012 Maxima and I’m very pleased with it. It holds the bikes securely and fits my plus bikes very well. My only gripe is that over time it has developed a wobble at the pivot where the arm meets the center of the rack. It concerns me because this is where the pins that hold it in place for the tilt function are and don’t want this thing tilting out on the highway.

Purchased this because we needed a lighter weight platform type two-bike rack for our 2005 Prius which could work with a full shock women's bike (bike needs to be attached and secured to rack by tires, not frame). Instructions with the rack could be better in regards to assembly, but it isn't complicated looking at the photos and videos on etrailer.com helped a lot. This seems to be a good quality rack. Customer service helpful and responded quickly when I contacted them with questions regarding whether this rack was compatible with our 2005 Prius.

I purchased this rack because It stated it would support the weight of my 2 electric bikes. The first trip with the rack installed on our motor home it failed after crossing a railroad crossing at 25 mph. The manufacturer told me to read the small print on the rack where it says not for use on any RV. They charged over a $100 for parts to repair it. Using the rack on my jeep or the motor home shouldn't matter. In my opinion the rack is under designed to carry the weight of the bikes as advertised. In good conscience I can not recommend this rack.

This is a review of the Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE but I have to tell a little story about how I came to purchase this item. First, I bought a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch in March and a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 in early May. The Kuat was very sturdy and well designed. However, even when empty and folded up, it was too high for the rear hatch in my Porsche Macan to open without first bending the Sherpa down . So, I could never enter the rear of the SUV without always moving the rack. This was so annoying that I decided to change to a Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE, which had been my 2nd choice. I returned the Kuat, paying the shipping and a 20% restocking fee, and received and installed the Saris within 3 days. This was about a month ago. The service and support from etrailer.com on this change was fast, courteous and reasonable in price. The Saris is not as sturdy feeling as the Kuat and tips a little when tightening the wheel holders (i.e., pushing down on the wheel holders) due to the torque put on the hitch. But the Saris is plenty sturdy enough, and I have used it to transport my Cannondale Synapse on multiple trips in 1 month, all of duration 30-60 minutes. The Saris is easy to load and unload and keeps the bike very secure even at 70+ mph. And, the Saris folds up much more compactly to allow opening the Macan’s tailgate without first bending the rack down. This is a terrific advantage over the Kuat and makes me very happy that I made the change. I strongly recommend the Saris SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE and etrailer.com, which provided excellent pricing, service and support on all 3 purchases.

Easy installation. Seemed like most of it was already assembled just coming out of the box. After installation I put my 29er and Trek road bike on it. Like others before me, it seemed that another 12-15" of length on the bike cable locks would be handy. Being able to lock the front and rear wheels in addition to the frame with the cable locks would make a great rack even better. I was very satisfied with the carrier construction quality and ease of operation. Liked being able to use two hooks for each bike. I would definitely recommend this rack. etrailer shipped very promptly as always and were very helpful with dimensional information regarding hitch set backs to make sure adequate clearance was available to fold various racks up when not transporting bikes.
