Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The XC's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Hoops

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The rack has wheel hoops that provide a stable base for mounting your bikes. Each hoop has a hand knob that lets you easily slide it along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase.

Folding Design

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike CarrierSwagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold the mast down for easy access to your hatch. Simply pull the pin at the base of the mast and fold it down in either direction. You can also fold the trays up against the mast for storage. Just pull the pins at the junctions where the trays meet the rack, fold the trays up, and reinsert the pins into the provided holes.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin and a clip that work with a built-in anti-wobble device in the shank to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. You can replace the pin and clip with an anti-rattle lock (sold separately) to secure the bike carrier to your vehicle. It also has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

The Swagman XC2 was Shipped same day I ordered it and I received it within 2 days. I put it together easily and tested it with my bike. It was the easiest and most stable bike rack I have ever owned. Kudos to etrailer for their service and Swagman for the product. ABSOLUTELY NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!!

Great bike rack that works well on my 2016 Prius. Easy to use and I can still open the rear door on the Prius with the bike on the rack. I regularly take my bike when I go hiking in the Smokies to ride between trailheads. Quality product at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this product.

Comments
Ive used the bike rack more than a dozen times and it still works great. The only issue I had was while driving on a dirt road I hit a large bump in the road and the bike bounced off the back of the car. Fortunately I was driving slow and there wasnt any damage to the bike or rack. After that incident I started using a short bungee cord around each wheel to secure them to the rack and keep the bike from bouncing if I hit a bump.
Hiker S - 02/19/2021

Thank you for your review. That sounds pretty dangerous. I would just like to make sure that you installed the bikes on correctly. Each wheel rested in the wheel cradle then the cradles were tightened. The hook came down onto your bike or onto an adapter (for step through bikes) and it was pushed down into place for a tight fit. The bikes should not be bouncing off the rack if everything is tightened down.

I use this bike rack to haul a recumbent bicycle on the front of my truck. It works excellent! My son also has on which he hauls his mountain bike on the back of his car. My son uses the 1.25" hitch and I use the 2" adapter both work very well.

Good bike rack for an economical price. I have a Thule bike rack in Florida and needed one in Wisconsin. The Thule is better, but heavier and more costly. I wanted something lighter. Many of the same features as my Thule, but easier to load bikes and lighter. The wheel loops were a concern as my Thule locks them down instead. However, on a recent 1.5 hour trip to a trail, the bikes were just as stable. So, I was pleased with how firmly this held them. No locks on the vertical hold-downs like the Thule, but running a locking cable thru the bikes will solve this easily. Assembly was fast and easy. Written directions were OK, but the diagrams were the most helpful. The way it collapses, I can hang it on my garage wall like my Thule. For $150 less money than the Thule, this should be all I need in Wisconsin.

Comments
After a year, my review is still relavant. Have not used it as much as Id like, but it works fine and is all I need in Wisconsin.

Not sure yet if I will keep this rack. It was a little bit loose and it wiggles a lot from the hitch..

Comments
Thank you for the review. I recommend to use the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2 Trailer Hitches part RM-061 if you have a 2 hitch. If you have a 1-14 hitch you can use part RM-061-125. The Quiet Hitch will tighten up the space between the shank of the bike rack and the hitch receiver to eliminate some of the rattle.

I dont know what took me so long to change out my old bike rack. I love this bike rack it was pretty easy to put together and super easy to attached to my SUV. The video I watched prior to making the choice to buy was 100% on point. My two bikes did not shake or move out of place. The best part was how easy to put bikes on rack and take them off.

I think the swagman is one terrific bike rack. The bikes ride securely and are a piece of cake to take off and put on. I wish it were a bit lighter but just me getting old. I do have one complaint. I wish I could attach the rack without the use of a tool - a wrench I this case. You should either use a wing nut that can be hand tightened or supply a wrench that stays on the rake frame so I would not have to hunt for the wrench and remember where I left it when time to remove the rack. Minor nuisance but avoidable. Barry

Best decision I ever made with reagard to bike racks, anyway. I love the security of and stability of the rack on long trips. Never give the bikes a thought. I love my etrailer bike rack. I have a Ford Escape, and I had to go to UHaul to get a hitch installed, but that was a good experience, although expensive. (Cost more than the etrailer!) After getting the hitch, it just takes about two minutes to put the etrailer rack on and load the bikes. I'm a little old lady, but I have no problem doing it myself. The etrailer gives me the freedom to explore all the rail trails in my area without having to rely on anyone else. Also, if you are concerned about it being stolen while you are out on the trail, it removes quickly and easily to fit inside the locked car.

Comments
I love it! I live within five miles of two rail trails, and this bike rack is so simple to attach to the trailer hitch and it only takes a second to securely load the bikes.

This bike rack is perfect for two bikes on the back of any car. It is easy to assemble and attach to the car. The wheel wells are able to slide to fit each bike, and the hooks that hold the bike in place offer a small hole for a lock for added security. The pictures show the stabilizing strap that is attached to the roof of the car so that there is less wobble while driving. We also added an extra stabilizer bracket on the hitch, just for added support (this is not necessary). We have used this bike rack many times in the last two months of having it, and there is no sign of wear on the item. We also bought locking hitch bolts for both points of contact, so that the rack can stay on the car without anyone being able to steal it. I would recommend this bike rack!

I had ordered a Swagman bike rack from etrailer and they let me know it would take over a month to get it since the manufacturer was trying to catch up. They recommended another model by Swagman that they had in stock and it was less expensive. I got it promptly and the suggested product will work fine for us. The best thing about ordering from etrailer is that you can get video demonstrations of the product before buying, they show you add ons you might want but don't have to buy-and they have them. They will talk to you about the product and their shipping (at least right now) is free. With the products they sell, their customer service really tops Another online retailer and other retailers in my opinion. Great people to do business with.

Good product. Time will tell if it can handle LA's horrible highway road conditions. Been great thus far. Prices are beyond reasonable at eTrailer. Note: 70lbs limit. My saddle is removed before ride to minimize weight. Frame pouch is also removed to not obstruct tag. Use the strap! There should be a 1" safety sliding latch on top of the upper sliding hook latch. That's just a design thing. There's always room for improvement. It is a nice safe product I'd highly recommend.

Received the bike rack on time and in perfect shape. Assembled it and it works great! The only improvement that Swagman could make would be somewhat better assembly instructions, but anyone mechanically inclined should be able to figure it out. Mated it to the etrailer hitch receiver recommended by your consultant and voila! Ready to roll the first good weather day we get!! Thanks!

The Swagman XC2 is a terrific hitch rack for 1 or 2 bikes: stable, easy to load/unload, and affordable. In my first month of ownership I have traveled 400 miles with the rack loaded and it has been rock solid. Adjustments are easy for bikes with different wheelbases and the rack folds into a very compact package when not in use - it does not significantly impair rear vision. Trunk access can be limited when the bikes are on the rack and there's no built-in locking mechanism to secure the bikes to the rack, but overall this rack is a great value.

I’m very pleased with this bike rack. It holds my bike well and it prevents my bike from bumping against my tail gate. It folds out of the way so I can drop my tail gate without removing the unit from my hitch.

Nice rack! Sturdy, can hold two large full suspension 29ers easily, although you might have to lower the seats as they hit handlebars if other bike. I also really like the locking pin (threaded pin locks rack securely to car hitch). Also a plus is the adapter plates for switching between 1-1/4” and 2” hitch. Only downside I can mention is that everything has a little surface rust after only one year. There was one trip in icy, rainy weather... For the price I paid, I’m happy. And etrailer service is great.

We were looking for a bike rack for 2 mountain or road bikes. We have a hitch on the back of our suv so this looked perfect. It goes on easy and the fact it folds down so we can get into the back before mounting the bikes is great. Well made and easy to use. I recommend this product

Well packaged, simple assembly, easy operation. Just what I needed to carry two bikes on the back of my Kia Sorento SUV without impacting the spoiler. Had to install a hitch (e98843) for it but it was worth it. The whole installation was easily completed by me alone in about an hour and a half, but I work slow since I'm old!

I have used this bike rack many times over the past year to carry two adult bikes, both for local use and to take with us on vacation. It works exactly as I had hoped. The vacation trip involved a 6 hour highway drive and the rack held the bikes securely without any problems at all. Very happy with this purchase

This bike rack has done exactly what we wanted it to do. It holds the bikes steady, no twisting wheels. It was easy to assemble, the bikes attach easily, and the rack lowers easily if we need to open our van hatch. Can't wait to hall our bikes on a long vacation this summer.

Comments
I still like the bike rack. My only disappointment is the fact we have to take the bikes off the rack to open the back of the van.

I've had this rack for years now and realy like it. I've used it extensively and would have given it 5 stars except for two things. First, in order to "tilt" the unit back, you have to release a pin from the pivot joint. Not a real big deal but you have bend over, pull back the wire safety spring and pull the pin; when done, you have to slide the pin back in a whole which can be a bit awkward because of where it's located. It would have been better if there was an easier release/catch mechanism. Something you could press with a toe to relesae and then just snap back in place. Of course if you want to spend more money you can get this feature on higher end racks so it's a question of value. The second issue is that the whole rack has a bit more play in it than I'd like. I use a locking bold that secures the rack into the receiver hitch. I wish it was completely rock solid when installed but there's still some wiggle/play. Not a big deal and nothing I notich when I'm driving. So becasue of these two points I'd rate this item a 4.5. Still an outstanding value for the money!

First off, I’m 81 years old. I started riding a bike again about 5/6 years ago. I’m so tired of just riding the streets in my town, that means I needed to transport my bike.I I found you, etrailer.com, and am so glad I did. You helped me get the right bike rack and hitch for my vehicle. I do not need any help loading or unloading my bike. I’m free to travel anytime I want. And freedom means a lot at my age. Again, thanks for your help. I am telling all my friends about you.

I love this bike rack! I've been a cyclist for a long time and this is the easiest to load and unload I've found. It keeps the bikes secure with no worries. I used this with my very expensive carbon bikes when I was racing. Now that I'm older I appreciate the ease of loading and unloading even more. You won't regret buying this product.

So, they get an extra star for following up on my purchase 1 yr. later - which unfortunately brings them up to two stars. The primary problem with this mount is that it does not work with full suspension mountain bikes. How do I know? Shortly after getting this rack I mounted my brand new $4000 carbon fiber, full suspension mountain bike on the rack. I make sure bike is clamped down really well. Pull into a parking lot that has a slight dip at the entrance. I'm going 3-4 mph. Look back. No bike. That small dip, taken at low speed, was enough to compress the suspension of the mountain bike and I guess also made the rack flex, which caused the bike to slip off the one crappy hook that's holding it to the rack. Fortunately, this happened at low speed and I noticed it immediately - rather than heading down the road a couple of miles before seeing my bike was no longer attached to the rack. Also, damage was very minor (probably because I was going about 4 mph). I still use the rack, but now use two separate bungy cords to secure the bike to the rack and basically spend the entire time I'm driving with one eye looking at the rear view mirror. However, this is a serious design flaw. Bottom line, the rack does not work with full suspension mountain bikes with sloping top tubes. Second problem. The sliding hooks tend to stick if they get dirt on them. And since the system is not well designed, it is very easy to pinch your hand when the hooks finally unstick. This has happened to me at least 4 times and it hurts [alot] . But the rack is cheap, and if you can work around these two problems I guess it works.

Most of the bike racks we carry are now using the threaded hitch pins including the Swagman XC part # S64650 that you referenced. It's almost a standard feature on bike racks now and only really the very inexpensive racks might not have it to save a little bit of money.

The Swagman XC bike rack, # S64650, does indeed fit a Class I trailer hitch. We have a video that I have linked for you, that shows it being installed in a Class I hitch. I have also included a link to the instructions for you. We physically test, install, and interact with most every product we sell so for the most accurate information, you can always look to etrailer. Since you have Curt trailer hitch # C11391 please note that Curt requires the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050,...

  • Recommended Platform 2-Bike Rack Made in the USA
The Swagman bike racks like the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style Rack part # S64650 are made in Canada. They are still great quality and one of the most popular bike rack brands we carry. I recommend to use the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack part # SA4412B which is a 2-bike platform rack that fits both a 2" and 1-1/4" hitch that is made right here in the USA. It has a 60 lbs per bike capacity for heavier bikes. It also accommodates various size bikes because of the sliding wheel...

  • Swagman XC 2 Bike Rack Bumper Clearance
The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # S64650 has a wheel hoop that is 10-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge. If you measure from the hitch pin hole of the receiver then you will be able to determine the clearance between the bumper and the wheel hoop.

  • Hitch Lock Recommendation for the Swagman XC Bike Rack
For the Swagman XC Bike Rack part # S64650 that you referenced the recommended hitch lock is the part # S64029. Or if you wanted one with a cable lock as well you would want the part # S64031.

  • Can Swagman XC Bike Rack Fit 2019 Subaru Outback with Recessed Trailer Hitch
The Swagman XC part # S64650 that you referenced has a distance of 10-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest bike hoop which means it will fit and clear you bumper. The pedal will also fit without hitting the vehicle but you may need to position the crank/pedal in a way that allows it fit around the bumper. I looked at pictures of your vehicle and the rear of it tapers forward too so this should be pretty easy.

  • Recommended 2 Bike Rack for Electra Townie Bike and Hybrid on 2007 Ford Edge
The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 won't work for you but I do have another option that will work well for your bikes on your 2007 Ford Edge. I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B which is rated for 2 bikes at up to 60 lbs each. It will hold the bikes by the frame so you won't have any issues with fenders. This is a great option for your application and I've attached a customer photo of the men's and woman's Electra Townie...

  • Can a Regular Trailer Hitch Pin be Used with the Swagman XC Bike Rack
The Swagman XC # S64650 can only be used with its thread hitch bolt. The weldnut inside prevents the use of a standard hitch pin. The benefit of the thread bolt is that it poles the shank tight to the inside of the receiver to reduce movement of the rack.If you where to somehow remove the weldnut and use a regular pin then you would also lose that anti-rattle ability. To make installing and removing the bolt easier I recommend using a ratchet with the appropriate socket. For a locking...

  • Hitch For 2000 Honda CR-V That Will Allow Swagman XC Bike Rack to Fit
The Swagman XC bike rack part # S64650 can fit your 2000 Honda CR-V and clear the rear spare if you install the Curt hitch part # 13314. With this setup you'd have about 4 inches of clearance between the rear spare and the nearest wheel hoop so you'd easily be able to fit two bikes in the rack.

  • Comparing Swagman XC S64650 & Curt C18084 Platform-Style Hitch Bike Racks
Both the Swagman XC # S64650 and Curt C18084 platform-style hitch bike racks will fit the 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch made for your 2011 Kia Soul. Both also fit 2-inch hitches which makes them a good long-term choice for potential compatibility with other vehicles. For the XC you can use hitch and bike lock kit # S64031. This not only locks the rack and your loaded bikes but it also provides anti-rattle duty to eliminate most noise and motion from the rack. Between the two bike racks...

  • Comparing the Swagman XC Part # S64650 and the Swagman XTC Part # S64670
The main difference between the Swagman XC part # S64650 and the Swagman XTC part # S64670 is the wheel hoops. The wheel hoops that come with the XC can accommodate a bike with tires up 3.5" wide and spaced 51-1/2" apart on center (wheelbase). The Swagman XTC can accommodate a bike with tires up 2.5" wide and spaced 66" apart on center (wheelbase). Therefore, if you have a bike with a longer wheelbase >66" then you are going to want to use the XTC but if you have a bike with a shorter...

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2016 Subaru WRX with Torklift EcoHitch Installed
For your 2018 Subaru WRX the TorkLift EcoHitch part # 306-X7257 (2 inch hitch) is a great hitch option as it can hide behind the bumper panel when not needed. If you check out the picture I attached of this hitch installed you'll see that the opening appears to be recessed behind the bumper a couple inches. Now the Swagman XC part # S64650 has a curve in the shank pretty close to where the rack slides into the hitch so it would be too close to call, but I have a better option all-around...

  • Can Swagman Platform Bike Rack Hold Womens Bike Without Adapter Bar
I did some research and with the bottom of your bike frame that low, the bike would not be stable enough in the carrier and could have issues. I could not recommend the Swagman XC Rack, part # S64650, without the use of an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and would allow the Swagman XC rack to hold the bike steady in the carrier.

  • Difference Between RV Approved Bike Rack and Bike Rack for Standard Car Truck or SUV
The Swagman Dispatch # S44FR as well as the Swagman XC 2 bike rack # S64650 are actually RV approved bike racks, so if you need a rack for use behind your motorhome, you can definitely use the # S64650. A vehicle is an RV if the horizontal distance from the rear axle to the hitch pin hole, tow ball, or back of rear bumper (if no hitch receiver or tow ball is present) is 72" or greater. The longer the distance, the higher the leverage. This is directly related to an increased amount of...

  • Why is the Swagman XC Not Okay to Use With an RV
The reason why some bike racks and cargo carriers are rated for use at the rear of an RV or Trailer and others are not has to do with the fact that the ride is a lot more rough. Since there is more distance from the rear axle to the trailer hitch receiver on an RV or Trailer as opposed to a passenger vehicle, there is a lot more play. Because of this, manufacturers will test and approve which bike racks or cargo carriers can be used at the back of an RV or Trailer. The Swagman XC 2-Bike...
