Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The XC's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Hoops

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The rack has wheel hoops that provide a stable base for mounting your bikes. Each hoop has a hand knob that lets you easily slide it along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase.

Folding Design

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike CarrierSwagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold the mast down for easy access to your hatch. Simply pull the pin at the base of the mast and fold it down in either direction. You can also fold the trays up against the mast for storage. Just pull the pins at the junctions where the trays meet the rack, fold the trays up, and reinsert the pins into the provided holes.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin and a clip that work with a built-in anti-wobble device in the shank to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. You can replace the pin and clip with an anti-rattle lock (sold separately) to secure the bike carrier to your vehicle. It also has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

I like the overall design of this rack, but unfortunately after hauling a couple bikes around for a while the point where the crossbar connects has apparently rounded off so the rack swings back and forth. I've used rope to tie the ends of the rack to the car to stop this from getting worse, but it's inconvenient. Note: the hitch connection itself is good and solid, but the point where the crossbar connects to the bar coming from the hitch has gotten loose and there's no way that I can see to tighten it.

I hear you! It looks like there are bolts where the crossbar connects to the bar that goes to the hitch. If you tighten those back down, that will take care of that extra movement.

I was advised to tighten up some bolts on the hitch and that resolved most of the sway I had been noticing. The rack has been working great ever since.

I bought this rack for occasional use for two bikes. The instructions were easy to follow and I am glad they included a few tools like a 8mm Allen. I tested out the rack with one bike, a 28 lb gravel bike. The rack feels solid without any bikes mounted, but I noticed a bit of wobble from one bike when driving on a rougher gravel road where I live. On the main roads and city streets, its fine. The only problem I had with the assembly was sliding in the wheel holders. It was such a tight fit, I had to use some teflon chain lubricant and a small rubber mallet line up the wheel holders so my tires would touch each end of the holder. Overall, I am glad I bought this model as seems like a good value and I dont plan to be a heavy user of frequent transporting of bikes.

I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler X with 31x10.5x15 oversized tires and
wheels. I installed B6196001 HighRock 4x4 Oversize Tire Carrier
by Bestop to carry larger spare tire.

I needed a bike carrier that would carry our two crusier bikes and
clear my spare tire. After measuring, I ordered:

-> S64650 - Swagman 2-bike carrier
-> 80300 - 7" Hitch Adapter 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver
-> RM-061 - Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches

Our order arrived very quickly, etrailer.com upgraded the shipping.

All these products arrived well packaged and without damage.
In 15 minutes I had every thing assembled, installed on my Jeep
and bikes loaded.

The bike carrier is very well constructed, finish is excellent and
easy to adjust.

When adjusting wheel loops and loading bikes, make sure you
pay attention to bike pedal position.

I chose this extension because I did not want to use the adapter
that comes with the bike carrier, I wanted as few parts as possible
to keep rattles to a minimum and gives me more options for towing.

The anti-rattle bolt/pin firmly secures the bike carrier to the
extension and the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch keeps the extension
adapter from rattling in the receiver.

Road tested approximately 25 miles over rough city roads
( including railroad tracks ), county roads and highway.
Bikes traveled very well without any rattles.

I can remove my complete setup quickly, fold and put in rear of
Jeep if desired.

I am very well pleased with my purchase.

Note to etrailer: Please consider offering Roadmaster Quiet Hitch
in black to match receiver and accessories.

It works great! Easy, quick, you know. One needs to screw in the hitch bolt, for some reason, before latching it. Other than that, it makes going bike riding way easier.

AFFORDABLE, TOUGH, EASY, LIGHT.

Low
profile as well.

I drive a 2016 Fiesta ST and mountain bike a fair amount. I love this thing. Only hard part is getting the tow hitch you need in addition to this rack to fit my car properly.

Luckily this site has a great video of install.

Two person job...and you'll need a modified exhaust hanger(s) to have the stock muffler clear the hitch. Otherwise it will rattle ya silly.

It’s still kicking. I leave It on all the time and my Fiesta ST has a VERY stiff suspension so for all is well after another year! I should Probably spray some sort of protectant on the unit but all is still functioning just fine: Thanks again!

After setting up my new bike rack, I found that the "universal tow hitch adapter" that's used for bigger tow hitches such as my Toyota Tacoma didn't seem to compliment entirely.

Attached pictures, you will see that the locking bolt and along with the cotter pin to secure the locking bolt onto the tow hitch doesn't quite reach through all the way across. Therefore, I wasn't able to insert the cotter pin through the locking bolt and couldn't safely secure my bike rack to the tow hitch of my Tacoma.

I know the Toyota Tacoma is a very popular vehicle and I recommend all future orders be replaced with a much longer locking bolt (at least 1/2 inch longer) to accommodate truck owners like me.

On the contrary, the bike rack does manage to fit onto my Mazda5 Minivan when utilizing the smaller tow hitch (without the universal tow hitch adapter for Class 3 Receiver). The bike rack is very versatile when loading bikes of various sizes and folds up to stow away very conveniently. Overall, great product!!

5/30/2018

The problem youre experiencing is occurring because the factory hitch on the Tacoma has an extra piece of reinforcement wrapped around the mouth of the receiver tube. This extra piece of metal adds about a 1/4 inch of width to the receiver, which is why the pin wont go in far enough for the retaining clip to fasten. Swagman doesnt offer a longer standard hitch pin, but they do offer a locking model that would be long enough, part # S64029 which has a 4-3/8 inch span. Ill link you to this part below. Swagman has assured me that this part will work for you.

by:

The Swagman XC2 is a terrific hitch rack for 1 or 2 bikes: stable, easy to load/unload, and affordable. In my first month of ownership I have traveled 400 miles with the rack loaded and it has been rock solid. Adjustments are easy for bikes with different wheelbases and the rack folds into a very compact package when not in use - it does not significantly impair rear vision. Trunk access can be limited when the bikes are on the rack and there's no built-in locking mechanism to secure the bikes to the rack, but overall this rack is a great value.

I really like this bike rack. Easy to assemble. East to mount on my 2004 Chevy Tracker. I also found it easy to mount my two bikes. I was concerned about clearance from the spare tire, but as you can see there is plenty of clearance. In fact the bikes don't touch anything else. I also purchased the velcro straps to secure the bike wheels to the wheel mount.

I had ordered a Swagman bike rack from etrailer and they let me know it would take over a month to get it since the manufacturer was trying to catch up. They recommended another model by Swagman that they had in stock and it was less expensive. I got it promptly and the suggested product will work fine for us. The best thing about ordering from etrailer is that you can get video demonstrations of the product before buying, they show you add ons you might want but don't have to buy-and they have them. They will talk to you about the product and their shipping (at least right now) is free. With the products they sell, their customer service really tops Another online retailer and other retailers in my opinion. Great people to do business with.

Swagman XC 2-bike rack was a great purchase! I use it almost every weekend to transport two mountain bikes to and from the trails. The rack has held up extremely well! I’d purchase again!

by:

I don’t have a problem with the bike rack itself, but it had a broken plastic cap and one of the wheel holders had a little spot where the paint was scraped off to bare metal. This wasn’t damage from shipping, because everything was packed extremely well in a very intricate layer of folded cardboard cutouts. (And I couldn’t put them all back together to save my life!) So I’m not sure at what point the damage occurred, but it was prior to shipping. The only other thing I had a hard time deciphering was the instructions, in which the assembly order was a tad bungled because it would’ve been easier to do in a different order. That and you need a magnifier to see the details in the illustrations! lol All’s well that ends well and overall I think it’ll be a great purchase. I’ll have to try to make some touch up repairs to prevent the two damaged areas from creating rust, but there’s no way I’m shipping it back after opening the origami box. ;) The working details of this rack are great and it is exactly what I was looking for in a simple design and easy to load/unload. Shipping was super fast as always! Thanks!

Nice & sturdy the bikes don't rattle around loke other racks that use the bar

by:

As usual, I ordered this late one night and it arrived from etrailer within less than a day of shipping. I purchased after reviewing photos and videos of the rack on the website. It's a good, solid bike rack. The bike rack is easy to assemble and attach to the car. Adjustments for bikes is easy and the rack seems stable. Probably about 1/2 inch of sway to the left and right and the same fore and aft during transport. It does seem to fit closely to the car, but pedals clear the bumper and have enough room to move without hitting the car. I would turn the bikes so that the derailleurs are outboard, but I wanted to show how much clearance the bikes have from the bumper, turning them out would give more room than shown.

It would be best to switch those bikes. You always want to keep the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle.

by:

Wow, the product is great and had a really great price and Delivery was super fast and I was notified all along the way 10 stars e trailer

by:

Nice rack! Sturdy, can hold two large full suspension 29ers easily, although you might have to lower the seats as they hit handlebars if other bike. I also really like the locking pin (threaded pin locks rack securely to car hitch). Also a plus is the adapter plates for switching between 1-1/4” and 2” hitch. Only downside I can mention is that everything has a little surface rust after only one year. There was one trip in icy, rainy weather...

For the price I paid, I’m happy. And etrailer service is great.

by:

I am still using it, and please consider what I am going to say before buying or using it. When taking this rack with bike on it offroad the upside down J hook that holds the bike down rattles out of place. This means that the bike is no longer secure. The paint on my bike wore down to the aluminum where the padding rubbed against it. I hit a big bump on the pavement and pulled over to find that the J hook was now barely touching the bike - almost lost the bike just because I hit a bump - not cool.
The fix is that I took a foam noodle and use that covered in tape between the pad on the J hook and the bike frame (no more rubbing away paint). I also use a strap with a buckle, buckling it around the bike and bike rack top bar, with the other end tied to the bike rack bottom bar. It's perfect like that.

Neal H. profile picture

8/31/2023

So, the rack is now a bike stand in my garage and has been replaced. If you hit a bump in the road it will compress your tires and suspension, then upon the rebound the J hook pops up and now the bike is rattling around. If you have a second bike on it like I did and that happens the pedal on one bike may scratch the heck out of the other brand new bike and cause irreparable damage. I tried tie downs, padding, and even duct tape to prevent this. The model that I got is useless.

That is so sad to hear. Swagman is generally beloved by most of our customers. I hope your other hitch works better for you! You definitely should not let it just sit in your garage taking up space.

by:

Easily fit two bikes and no clearance issues around the car. Rack feels sturdy and assembly was easy. The bike closest to the car restricts trunk access but otherwise trunk opens with just one bike.

ZERO STARS! Do not buy this rack unless you have a bike with a flat cross bar or little tires like the pictures show. I was made a turn to get on the highway and my bike didnt. With an angled top tube nothing keeps the bike in place when it pulls out to the side.

I recommend using a bike adapter bar such as part # HRBA-PRO to create the straight that will attach to under the bike handle and under the seat. Or choosing a bike rack like part # HLY94FR which will attach to the bike frame that you have and also allows for the wheels to be strapped down.

by:

This bike rack is perfect for two bikes on the back of any car. It is easy to assemble and attach to the car. The wheel wells are able to slide to fit each bike, and the hooks that hold the bike in place offer a small hole for a lock for added security. The pictures show the stabilizing strap that is attached to the roof of the car so that there is less wobble while driving. We also added an extra stabilizer bracket on the hitch, just for added support (this is not necessary). We have used this bike rack many times in the last two months of having it, and there is no sign of wear on the item. We also bought locking hitch bolts for both points of contact, so that the rack can stay on the car without anyone being able to steal it. I would recommend this bike rack!

Best Bike Rack Hitch Carrier for less than $150.00....EVER!

Unfortunately, our area was flooded by Hurricane Harvey not long after I ordered this bike carrier. So it sat in storage until 2 weeks ago. I was finally able to put it together and use it immediately. Simple to put together and even simpler to load bikes on to. took me 15 minutes to put together. Can load 2 bikes onto the rack in less than 30 seconds. That is NOT an exaggeration either. I was worried that once I got the bikes loaded that they'd rock and shake during travel but that was not the case. Loaded 2 bikes onboard and they stayed secure during the whole trip to our start point. Again, the carrier was quiet as a church mouse. No rattling what so ever! No noise at all!! And the cushions on the clamps that hold the bike in place are gentle enough not to put any marks or scratches on my bike frame, which was definitely another concern! All in all, this was one of the best purchases I've made in the last 18 months. If you're considering this carrier and still not sure, take my word and this review, 'Buy it. You will NOT be sorry!'

Purchased 3 items from etrailer (Swagman-S64650, Hitch -24902, Anit-Rattle Lock -S64029)- Product review below etrailer review (both get similar star rating)
Decided to use etrailer based in their support videos and upfront information. For example: on some products I reviewed they provided (in the title info ) Class I or II. For other retailers you had to dig deep into description. Being a novice at the ratings it not only educated but prevented incorrect part ordering.
I will not hesitate to use etrailer based on the above and AFTER the purchase support

Now to the bike rack.
Easy to follow instructions. Easy to assemble.
Loading/unloading bikes is simple.
Compact when folded- One item note: Universal Foot-UF (connects rack to hitch) does not fold. For UF dis-assembly need to remove thread lock bolts.

Fewer moving parts on the rack helps isolate possible wobble and wear on that hitch receiver and the bike rack itself. One of the nicest bike racks for an RV is the Swagman XP, # S64940. This rack carries up to 4 bikes and...

  • Compatibility of Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack S64650 with Class I Hitch 24874 on Mazda 5
Yes, the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 will fit the 1-1/4-inch receiver opening of Draw-Tite Class I hitch # 24874, which fits 2012 through 2015 model years of the Mazda 5. The rack will provide plenty of clearance at the back of the car. If you care to add a lock to secure the rack to the hitch and your bikes to the rack you can use # S64031. A video on this rack is included for you.

  • Is There a 1-1/4 Hitch Rise for a Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but we do not carry any hitch adapters that will provide a rise and fit your 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. The only option would be to purchase a new bike rack that has a raised shank built-in so you do not need to worry about an adapter. An adapter would also decrease the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50% which would also be an issue. Instead, I recommend the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style part # S64650 as it has a built-in 4" shank...

  • How Much Does The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack S64650 Weigh?
The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64650 you were looking at weighs in at 25lbs and accommodate two bikes weighing up to 35lbs each with tires up to 2-1/2" wide. If your bike happens to have tires wider than 2-1/2" you can use the Swagman Fat Bike Tire Wheel Adapter # S64674 to accommodate tires up to 5" wide. I included a video of the Swagman # S64650 for you to take a look at.

  • Which Hitch-Mounted 2 Bike Platform Rack Should I Go With?
In order to install a platform-style bike rack you will need to install a trailer hitch receiver if you do not already have one. I recommend the Etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98841 as this will work well for your application and it has the common 2" receiver opening which will allow many accessories to be mounted. While we do not have bike racks on "display" for you to view in person, we do have plenty of information about each bike...

  • Would Swagman XC Bike Rack Fit 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport
Most likely yes, but here's how you find out for for sure. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport out to the furthest point out on the rear spare of the vehicle. If that dimension is less than 10-1/2 inches the Swagman XC part # S64650 would easily fit.

  • Comparing the Swagman XC Part # S64650 and the Swagman XTC Part # S64670
The main difference between the Swagman XC part # S64650 and the Swagman XTC part # S64670 is the wheel hoops. The wheel hoops that come with the XC can accommodate a bike with tires up 3.5" wide and spaced 51-1/2" apart on center (wheelbase). The Swagman XTC can accommodate a bike with tires up 2.5" wide and spaced 66" apart on center (wheelbase). Therefore, if you have a bike with a longer wheelbase >66" then you are going to want to use the XTC but if you have a bike with a shorter...

  • Measuring Clearance For Swagman XC Bike Carrier On 2014 Dodge Durango With OEM Trailer Hitch
To be able to determine if you have enough clearance at the rear of your 2014 Durango for a bike carrier you can take a quick measurement. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the bumper or spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the bumper or spare...

  • Comparing Swagman XTC2 and XC Bike Racks
The big difference between Swagman XC, # S64650, and the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, is the XTC-2 is capable of handling bikes with up to 66 inch long wheelbases, while the XC can handle bikes with a wheelbase up to 51-1/2 inches. In my opinion, if given the choice between the Swagman XC, # S64650, and the XTC, # S64670, I would go with the XTC every time. The upgraded wheel loops and rubber straps better secure the bikes than the wheel loops alone on the XC. Additionally the XC can accommodate...

  • Can the Ratcheting Arms on the Swagman XC Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack be Locked
According to Swagman, the 1/4 hole on # P186 Grip Arms found on the Swagman XC bike racks, like # S64650, should not be used with any type of lock. The hole is just there because that is where they hang the part when it gets powder coated. Instead, we recommend using a cable lock, # S64031, for Swagman bike racks that fit both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitches, or # S64030, for the Swagman racks that are for 2 inch hitches only.

  • Hitch Installation on 2014 Nissan Versa
Page 9-16 of the online edition of the owner's manual for the 2014 Nissan Versa says only this about towing a trailer: "Do not tow a trailer with your vehicle". Attaching a hitch such as light-duty Class I hitch # C11256 from Curt will not change the vehicle's capacities. When hitches are made for cars that are not intended to tow this is so that they can use accessory items like bike racks such as # S64650 and cargo carriers such as # C18145. An installation video for this hitch is...

  • Comparing the Malone RunWay and Swagman XC Bike Racks
To keep the bikes from making contact with each other as well as the back of the vehicle I recommend only looking at platform style bike racks such as # MPG2149 and the Swagman XC # S64650. With the hanging style racks you referenced the bikes will likely make contact with each other though it is unlikely they would make contact with the vehicle. All bike racks will have some movement when installed. Both the RunWay and XC have an anti-rattle hitch bolt to limit the movement but keep in...
