Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The Current's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Extra-Wide, Sliding Wheel Cradles

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The extra-wide cradles hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide. They also slide to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport.

Tilting and Folding Design

Threaded Locking Hitch PinThreaded Locking Hitch Pin

A spring-loaded release lever in the base of the rack lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. You can also use that same lever to fold the rack up against your vehicle for storage. A second spring-loaded release lever lets you fold the mast down so you can fold the rack up.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch PinThreaded Locking Hitch Pin

The ratcheting hooks have lock cores in the release buttons so you can secure your bikes to the rack. Simply slide the hooks over your bikes' top tubes until they click and lock them in place. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle.

Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

Very happy with this product. Solid great quality. My e-bike is on securely and I have no concerns for it when I am going down the highway or bumpy back roads. I love the hitch pin and cable. Not only does it take care of any wobbling, it gives me the added peace of mind to leave my bike unattended. Special thanks to Geoffrey who took the time to figure out which rack would fit my Jeep Wrangler (with tire and camera). I was going to buy a different one but thanks to the right questions he asked and patiently waiting while I went out to take measurements, he figured out that one would not fit. But he did figure out the Swagman would. He assured me it was a good quality one, despite being about 40% less in price. He was absolutely right! Thank you Geoffrey for knowing your products so well! Without your assistance I would have ordered the wrong one at a much higher price and had to go through the headache of sending it back.

Still loving it! Worth every penny. Its solid, giving me ease of mind no matter what kind of terrain Im travelling on. Lifting my 56lbs bike up onto the rack was a struggle for me after having rotator cuff surgery in Nov. I purchased a ramp that fits perfectly over this rack. The rack itself is very easy to use. Still earns the full 5 stars!

Great product - easy to assemble and great for our 2 bicycles, including my wife's Blix e-bike. The only criticism is, that on the box it says it fits 1 1/4" and 2" hitches - in the brochre it says NOT to use it on 1 1/4" hitches.

Comments
Thank you for pointing this out. This can not be used on a Class 1 inch and a quarter hitch, but it can be used on a Class 2 inch and a quarter hitch. The difference between a class 1 and a class 2 inch and a quarter hitch is that the class 2 has about 350 pounds of maximum tongue weight as opposed to the class 1s 200 pounds. Some class 1 hitches have a stop tab inside that blocks class 2 accessories.

Fantastic product, with super shipping and order support. Given that it's rated for bikes twice the weight of these 2, I was looking for something really solid, and this delivers! Had to reverse the ordering of the hold-down arms to get a good hold on the bike with a low topbar, and I had to use a bar adapter for the lowstep bike, but it all worked. Some people had expressed concern about the bikes or rack blocking the taillights, but on my Honda Pilot there was no problem. Only issue -- which isn't its fault -- is that my backup camera/collision warning system thinks it's going to hit the bike and alerts when in reverse; don't think there is a workaround there. The rack and bikes do not extend past the width of the Pilot, which is nice. When empty and folded up, it's very compact, and the rear hatch opens with plenty of clearance. Unlike the pictures online, the tiedown straps are black, not vivid yellow, which suits me fine. Very solid and well made!

Coming from a Kuat bike rack made out of aluminum this thing is built like a tank. I needed the extra weight capacity of the Swagman for carrying two electric bikes from the Electric Bike company in Newport Beach, CA. The Electric Bike Company also recommended the Swagman for transporting their beach cruisers, since the Swagman secures the bikes by the upper frame rail of the bike and not from the tires like so many other racks. The EBC bikes have fenders and steel baskets, which make a rack that secures bikes by their tires unusable. The Swagman came packaged with zero damage, and went together in a matter of minutes. I put it on my truck to pre-test it out with our two bikes, and to get the bike tire holders properly spaced and tightened down. Our bikes each weigh 53lbs. and this particular Swagman has a max rating for 60lbs. per bike. The Swagman comes with a cable to lock your bikes, a locking receiver pin, and the arm that secures the bikes is lockable. So far, I'm really liking this rack, based upon the quality, security, and price.

I have two Lectric Ebikes. This my second attempt to find a bike ramp to carry both bikes. Finally success. Holds and safely secures both. Solid construction. Fits on my 2" truck hitch and the 1-1/4" trailer hitch. Very pleased. See my photos.

Rack appears to be high quality, well designed, well built, sturdy and has a streamlined appearance on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Assembly took about an hour, was straightforward, a little awkwardness but not too difficult and certainly within the strength and physical capability of this 70 year old. Only minor issue was that the parts list didn't include the two brackets to mount the cross bars and I didn't notice their mention in the assembly instructions. When I was finished and saw them left over I went back through the instructions and then detached and reinstalled the cross bars with the brackets. This wasn't a huge deal. Loading and fastening our bikes (two heavy EBikes) on the rack is pretty simple and easy. They also appear to be quite stable and secure. Although I haven't taken them on a trip as yet. One thing worth noting is that the rack is a little too heavy and unwieldy for my wife to fold down and back up, even without the bikes loaded, for tailgate access. So, I will be detaching it from the trailer hitch when not using it. Fortunately, detaching it from and re-attaching it to the hitch is fairly easy. I would rate this rack as a fine product, good value and the etrailer purchasing and customer service communication experience was outstanding.

So far so good. Seems a little loose in the receiver though. Have not driven with it yet, but went together well. A little concerned as although it says for 1 1/4"/2" receivers, inside in the instructions it says not to be used on class 1 1 1/4" receivers. Not a problem yet as I have a 2" receiver, but might be confusing if I had not had a 2".

Received the bike rack in record time. Took a little time to assemble but the directions were very clear and the pictures helped. Very heavy once assembled. Have installed it on my car but haven't transported my ebike as yet. Very sturdy construction and should be able to accommodate my ebike which weighs 41 lbs without the battery. My previous rack was also a Swagman but was not 'rated' to carry the weight of an ebike....thus this purchase. Will be very anxious to see how it works with my ebike.

Comments
Very satisfied with rack. Transports my ebike very safely. I leave the rack on my car all Spring, Summer and Fall due to its weight...dont want to take it on and off. Appreciate that it folds down so I can access the tailgate and bed of my truck.

I've owned the lighter weight version for regular bikes for around 12 years and loved it. So simple to use. So when we converted to E-bikes, we needed the heavier version rated for E-bikes. It is essentially the same, except it holds the heavier bikes and has wider tire cradles. Very easy to put together, around a half hour. I only wish the cradles faced outward instead of to the center. Because what happens is that they are too close to the bike chains and I keep getting grease on my hands trying to avoid the bike chains. I researched many different brands, but I came back to the Swagman. The others all had one or more issues I didn't like and were also more expensive. I give this rack a full endorsement.

Very strong rack. There is no doubt that this will safely hold two E-bikes. It keeps my bicycles safely secured when the holding bars are in place - never had a question about them bouncing loose. It offers several ways to keep the bicycles secured to the rack and to the vehicle, thwarting bike thieves. After taking some time to properly position the locking bars and adjust the four wheel holders, I then marked on the rack which bike goes on first and which direction each bike pointed as well as which the position of each locking bar. This made mounting the bikes much easier each time the rack was used. I like the feature that allows the rack to fold down and away from the vehicle so came open my tailgate without removing the rack. This rack is heavy and so much easier to put onto the vehicle hitch with two people. It does not fold up into a small area so storing it easily is not a strong feature. I put it on a small, flat 4-wheeled furniture dolly to move it around the garage when it is not on my truck. It is an awkward piece to store.

Exactly what we were looking for. Tried two other racks from another company and returned both. Price is outstanding for the rack you get. Easy to assemble, easy to adjust to individual bikes, easy to load bikes with the center support in the down position. Holds bikes very securely and no worry of shifting in transport. Would definitely recommend.

This is a good sturdy bike rack with a reasonable price. We use it for carrying 2 e-bikes and it does a good job. Locking features and anti-wobble work well. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is awkward to lift heavy e-bikes onto the rack. Also, I have a step over frame and my wife has a step through frame. With the 2 different style frames it is difficult to get the 2 frame hooks and bikes positioned so they secure the bikes and you are able to get access to the key lock.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you need an adapter bar to make the step-through bike fit properly. We sell them here at etrailer.com.

So far, so good! Excellent transaction with eTrailer. Successfully transporting two 50+ pound ebikes and it all looks solid with very little bouncing around while driving. Only a small bit of trouble getting it together - mostly would recommend having a 2nd person available for some of the more heavy and awkward steps. Only reason not to give it 5 stars it doesn’t come with a ramp - but it’t worth it to me to spend the extra $$$ for one with a ramp.

- S64678
by:

This is a very good rack. It holds both my ebikes and seems very sturdy. Bikes go on and off easily. The best part is the ability to lean the installed rack with the bikes on it away from the rear hatch allowing me full access to my jeep storage. The only negative is once installed and the bikes installed it blocks my brake lights. I've orders lighting which I can install on the outside rear of the rack allowing my brake lights to be seen making it safer to travel. When the bikes are not installed on the rack the rack folds up against the hitch keeping it safe and out of the way. Great rack and as advertised.

I found the bike carrier to be an easy assembly (30 min). I was not able to find a hitch lock assembly in the packaging. There were keys but no bolt lock that should go through the hitch-carrier connection. The carrier is completely assembled and I can carry bikes, but the locking mechanism is important to me.

- S64678
by:

I'm ok with this rack. It does hold the bikes. The bolt that holds the receiver mount in the receiver does not screw into its hole when in the receiver but it does when not in the receiver. My solution to that is a hose clamp on the bolt which is not ideal. One strap has failed (replacements were easy to acquire from Swagman). I would buy something else if I had a do over.

- S64678
by:

assembly straightforward and quality construction. Heavy duty materials and fit to rv and Jeep wrangler rubicon recon was good, allowing good clearance of unit and bikes between Wrangler spare tire and brake light. Holds two bikes, one is an e bike, with good room between. Some wobble at point of holding hooks and frames but segment of pool noodle attached to bike frame cross bars secured them and eliminated slight loose fit at those points. This unit has to be American made judging from the workmanship and quality of materials. Theresa, in customer service and orders, provided all the prepurchase information I needed and was very good at followups. I recommend using this company.

The bike rack was received very quickly with the packaging undamaged. It was fairly easy to assemble and appears strong. It is heavier than our last bike rack. Service was great! I could not believe how quickly I received the bike rack. Assembly was easy and we have used it daily since receiving about a week ago. The rack seems to be very robust and sturdy. It is a great rack and I recommend it for almost everyone. I am a very 70y/o 4'11" woman and I had trouble picking the bike up to get it on the rack by myself. That is the only complaint I have. It is very well made and sturdy.

I’ve had this rack for a year. I it carried 2 fairly heavy electric bikes from the Seattle area to Tucson area with no problems. It’s a bit heavy, but that translates to heavy duty, and it is. I also like the ease of loading. So I am happy to give this 5 stars.

I don't see a whole lot of vehicles with the hitch recessed that far in from your bumper. Your hitch can handle the weight so that's good, but you need...

  • Reversing the Cradles on the Swagman Current for More Clearance
Interesting solution you thought of there to get extra clearance. There should be no issue with the Swagman Current # S64678 when it is folded up, but when it is down and bikes are mounted, that's a different story. The reasons the wheel cradles are installed in the outward position is to minimize bike rocking and to increase the different wheel bases (length of bikes) it can carry. If both cradles are facing each other, the wheels have more space to rock back and forth against the...

  • Swagman E-Bike Rack for Motorhome
Yes the Swagman Current # S64678 will fit your 2" hitch on the back of your motorhome. I have used both of these bike racks and they are very similar but I like the current better than the E Spec # S94FR. The Current is a very sturdy rack but still easy to use. Being able to carry Fat Tire Bikes and E-Bikes on your car or RV with one bike rack makes this extremely versatile. The weight capacity is lower at 60 lbs but removing the batteries will help you get below the weight capacity. It...

  • Which Hitch Mounted Bike Rack is Best for 2 Heavy E-bikes?
The "Swagman Current" 2 Bike Platform # S64678 holds two 60-pound E-bikes and can attach to a Class-II 1-1/4" or Class-III 2" reciever. Will work with fat tires up to 5" wide. It holds bikes with wheelbases (center of wheel to center of wheel) up to 50". You can measure your bikes and you should find that these will fit. I really like the finish on this rack and that it includes a lock for the bikes and the racks! You mentioned that one bike weighed 69 pounds and the other was 54...

  • Best Bike Rack Set Up For Women's Electric Bike
I highly recommend the Swagman Current # S64678 because it can handle the weight of electric bikes unlike the Swagman XTC TILT # S64671. The Swagman Current tilts, can carry one or two bikes and will work with women's bikes if you use an adapter bar # 64005. This is the most cost effective way of getting your bikes to and from your destination safely. I've included a video of me personally using the Swagman Current, check it out to see how it works!

  • Swagman Chinook S64678 Bike Rack Wobbles In Hitch
First, you'll want to make sure that the anti rattle bolt included with the # S64683 Chinook that secures the bike rack into the hitch has been fully snugged down. The hitch pin is intended to pull the bike rack's shank tightly up against the side of the receiver tube, preventing movement so if it isn't fully tight it could allow the bike rack shank to move about. Secondly, you'll want to check all the hardware on the rack, ensuring that it's tight. This includes the connection between...

  • Recommended Swagman Bike Rack for Fat Tire Electric Bike for 1-1/4 Hitch

It works with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening and it only weighs 49 lbs so you will be under the 200 lb weight capacity. Please note, the Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack is class II/III rated.

  • 2-Bike Platform Rack for Heavy Bikes Compatible with Class I Hitch
The Swagman Current 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S64678 is only compatible with class II and class III hitches so it most likely will not pin into a Class I hitch. For a similar rack that is compatible with a class I hitch, I recommend the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10003 because it shares many of the main features as the Current, so it tilts away for cargo access, folds for storage, and it also comes with a hitch and bike lock to protect your investments. Just like...

This rack has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike. It comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin that reduces movement between the hitch receiver and the hitch bike rack. You will be able to lock this rack to your vehicle and your bikes to the rack. Another feature is the ability to tilt...

  • Will Swagman Current 2 Bike Rack Fit on 2020 Toyota Rav4?
I test fitted the Swagman Current 2 Bike Rack # S64678 on a 2020 Toyota Rav4 with a factory hitch just the other day. When installing the rack into the hitch, we found it was too short and we could not fold up the rack without it coming in contact with the Rav4's bumper. If you're not sure about if this bike rack will fit on your vehicle, you can check your bumper clearance by measuring from your hitch pin hole on your hitch to the end of your bumper. That measurement needs to be less...
