I purchased the Thule Epos bike rack to replace a defective Thule Easyfold XT2 bike rack. This rack is a significant improvement and after using it for a month now really like it's design and performance.

I use it to carry two Riese & Muller ebikes (combined weighing over 100 lbs) and the rack is very stable with the two bikes installed; virtually no lateral movement of the rack while driving and the ratcheting strap that is the primary attachment is rock solid in design and application. The Epos is a little wider than the Easyfold rack which allows the two wheels to be in more contact with the rack. I also noticed the spacing between two bikes was fat better on the Epos versus the Easyfold. There is no concern for contact of the two bikes which also makes it easier to remove each bike off the rack.
Although we only use the Epos for two ebikes, having the ability to transport a third bike is a nice bonus when having a solo friend to join on a ride.

Our ebikes both have full fenders and the Thule Epos rack provides a super secure frame connection that works great on bikes fitted with fenders. I was skeptical of the racks that secure the bike using ratcheting arms on the front/rear wheels with fenders.

The one addition that Thule offers is an optional lighting accessory that is a nice add on if you need it.

Overall, this is a great rack!

I'm so happy with this rack and docked it a star because of issues I had with Thule - NOT with eTrailer

I purchased this rack to hold 2 e-bikes and a third child's bike. I watched all of the videos and knew this is what I needed. Ordered and it was out of stock - of course with it being so new. I had to wait about a month to get it.

Once I received it, I took it out the box and it sat for a week before I could use it. Went to install it on to my truck and one of the wheels fell off. Upon inspection, the hole for the screw was stripped, so the screw just fell out. Used the chat feature on eTrailer and a new one was on the way in less than a day. (OUTSTANDING Customer Service)

Got the second rack, and one of the pads was missing from the third holding bar. Again - not eTrailer's fought. I contacted Thule and a they sent over a replacement part right away.

I get it. These are very popular and Thule is trying to meet that demand. I just wish they had some better "pre-flight" inspections.

Overall, this rack is dang near perfect. Bikes go on easily, they are secure and you can lock them down - no need for that extra cable that they sell.

Buy with confidence - but check you unit right away!!

See what our Experts say about this Thule Hitch Bike Racks

  • Can Bike Strap on Thule Epos Bike Rack Be Secured Anywhere on Bike
Yes and no. The Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE has a unique strap system that makes it compatible with literally any bike frame style and whether the bike has fenders or not, but there is one restriction with the strap and that's on the front tire (see attached from instructions). If you need to secure your bike by the wheel then you'll want to run the strap around the back tire because the vast majority of bikes are heavier under the seat post which extends over the rear tire some. Securing...

  • Hitch and Rack for Electric Bikes Recommendation for 2012 Hyundai Accent
Starting with the hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24884. You are correct that the weight of your bikes narrows the bike rack possibilities down quite a bit. If you could easily remove the battery pack from one or both bikes to remove enough weight to lower the combined weight of both bikes to 90 lbs, we offer a rack that would be perfect for you. The Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel and Frame Mount # TH99XE has a 66-lb capacity and...

  • Is Thule Epos Bike Rack Available Without Lights
It is; if you don't want the lighting function of the Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH49XE there is a version that you can get which does not have lights. What you need is the following: - Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE Apart from the lights these are otherwise the same rack, with the same 66 lb capacity and super easy tool-free installation.

  • Can ABUS Cable Lock for Thule Epos Bike Racks Be Matched to Thule Epos Bike Rack Lock Cores
The Cable Lock for Thule Epos Bike Racks # TH89XE is made by ABUS which is a different design than what comes with the bike and rack locks on the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE, so while they unfortunately can't be keyed alike, the ABUS lock is another measure of security added to an already secure setup so it isn't necessarily a bad thing that this lock is different.

  • Why Does Thule Epos Have Cable Lock and Locks on Straps
The Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE does come with locks for both the rack and the bikes but Thule also provides the Cable Lock # TH89XE just to make it seems more daunting to take the bikes. The standard locks will work great but locks are really just a deterrent so by adding a cable lock to the setup it makes your bike rack more daunting than the next. Thule got smart and made the Epos with the same mounting style as the EasyFold XT so you'll use the Extra-Long Loading Ramp # TH933402...

  • Thule Platform Bike Rack that Can Carry 32 inch Wheel
There isn't a way to adapt a Thule T2 bike rack to be able to carry a bike that has a tire diameter of 31 to 32 inches. Only solution would be a bike rack with a more flexible attachment method to the bike like the Thule Epos part # TH99XE which has a cradle that can grab a much larger wheel diameter or even just attach to the bike frame.

  • Is Thule Epos Bike Rack Compatible With Class A Motorhome
The Thule Epos # TH99XE will work with a car, truck, SUV, or van. Unfortunately, it will not work with a motorhome or trailer. For a 2-bike rack that can handle heavy bikes and is motorhome compatible I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR. This has rack a weight capacity of 80 lbs per bike and can handle standard and fat tire bikes. It uses padded clamps which can mount to the frame or the seat post allowing it to work with almost any bike. It also comes with a...

  • Can Thule T2 Pro XTR Fit with Fenders on Trek Allant+ 7S Stagger Bike
The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV is a great bike rack but since it secures bikes by their wheels it will damage the front fender on your Trek Allant+ 7S Stagger so we need an alternative option. If you want to stick with a Thule rack then the Thule Epos # TH99XE is my recommendation because of the adjustability in how it can secure the bikes by the frame. • Trailer Hitch & Hitch Mount Bike Rack
Your 2019 Toyota C-HR is only compatible with Class I hitch receivers. This will limit you to carrying just two bikes. The hitch receiver that I recommend is the one you attached to your question, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4", part # C11490. • Is Weight Capacity of Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Per-Bike or Total
The weight capacity is per-bike as opposed to total weight for the Hollywood Racks bike rack you mentioned: - Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Bike Rack # HR200Z So that means each side of the rack is rated for a maximum of 45 lbs per bike as opposed to the entire capacity being 90 lbs. • Can Saris SA805BL Bones Trunk Mount Bike Rack Carry 45lb e-Bike on 2021 Hyundai Kona
According to Saris, their # SA805BL Bones 2-bike trunk mount rack can accommodate 2 bikes weighing up to 35 lbs each. Even though the total weight of the two bikes you're wanting to carry won't exceed the capacity of the rack, having a bike weighing 45 lbs would place stresses on the rack that it wasn't engineered to withstand and could cause the rack to fail. The same would hold true for the # SA803 as well. An alternative option would be to install a Class 3 hitch like the Draw-Tite...
