Safe for carbon frames and strong enough to carry your heavy bikes, this hitch bike rack will handle road bikes, mountain bikes, and anything in between. Ratcheting hooks and wheel straps hold your bikes by their wheels with no frame contact.

The Yakima HoldUp is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions.
The HoldUp is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.
Note: Not recommended for use on bikes with front fenders.
To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in red button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.
Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.
Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mark your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.
The wheel trays on the HoldUp are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.
The HoldUp has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.
The rack also has a HitchLock hitch pin that allows you to lock the rack to your vehicle. The threaded pin also works as an anti-rattle device to reduce noise and movement of the rack when it's mounted in your trailer hitch receiver.
The cable locks and HitchLock hitch pin include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.
The HoldUp stores more compactly than similar platform-style racks, and features a spring-loaded pin at the base that lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle when it's not in use. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull the pin and fold the rack up against your vehicle.
The same pin tilts the rack down, while fully loaded, so you can gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without having to unload your bikes.
There is a 2-bike add-on available (Y02446 - sold separately) for the HoldUp that will allow you convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. To install the add-on on your HoldUp, simply remove the endcap from the bike rack base, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, and secure the shank with a bolt that comes with the add-on.

Safe for carbon frames and strong enough to carry your heavy bikes, this hitch bike rack will handle road bikes, mountain bikes, and anything in between. Ratcheting hooks and wheel straps hold your bikes by their wheels with no frame contact. It's quite expensive bike rack which made in China with problematic quality control. I have to disassemble one of the bike bases in order to remove the metal shavings inside of the end of the arm which were interfering with cable lock preventing it get fully retracted into the tube. Inside tube, there are no coating and metal started to rust already. If you leave it mounted on vehicle and this thing gets into the rain, this will greatly accelerate the rusting process. And rusting is not covered by warranty as stated in different post. So you warned... When I told etrailer about the quality problems... Customer support answer was hilarious. Quote from Odelia K. : "I am sorry but I do not know where you may be able to order this for shipping to the UK." Btw, they just shipped my order to GA, USA... where did I mention UK? I have unpleasant experience with etrailer.com. I would not recommend it.
Works well for transporting two 29" wheeled mountain bikes. However, after one year it's starting to rust in several areas (see attached photos), and the front wheel arms are becoming increasingly difficult to raise and lower. Finally the locking cable is extremely rusty as you can see in the attached photo. I'm not sure how durable this rack will be long term.
I was excited to finally get the bike rack after a long back order...but it was well worth the wait ! It took my husband and I about 35 minutes to assemble it. It was very easy. I had been having to lift my bike in and out of my truck bed and it was taxing on my back. I have used it everyday since installing it and love it. Thank you to the Customer Service department for being so nice when I called several times for updates on my order.
The rack is good, but...if you have a 29 inch front tire, you will need to secure the tire to the seat. I use velcro on the front and rear of the tire seat. It will (and did) pop out. The tire is too large for it to properly fit. I wish all the "joints" we're a bit more snug to stop the sway! Overall it is good...heavy, but good. I'd buy it again!
Really glad I found your web site before I decided on my E bike rack. The Yakima holdup rack I purchased is a quality item and has really nice features for a good price. I like the fact that it clamps down on the tire to hold it tight. I also like the way the rack moves down to load and unload the bikes. It takes a lot of load off my back. The locks ore outstanding as well. This rack has everything I needed. Thank you Ashley for your help when I ordered it. Really good company and staff. Ken from Downey, Calif.
Purchased the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for primary use of transporting two BMX Bikes with 20-inch wheels. On occasion bikes with larger wheels up to 27.5 inches have also been used successfully with the rack, to my satisfaction with no rack changes required for the different size wheels. Making 3-4 trips per week to the local BMX track the Yakima HoldUp has provided our family with reliability and a great deal of convenience. Although placement of the rack onto vehicle hitch may be difficult for some users due to its weight, loading and securing bikes onto the rack is extremely easy and user friendly. After a year of use and unhitching the rack with each daily use all parts have proven to be very durable. Other than some light and infrequent lubrication at hinge points I’ve found the rack to require little maintenance. Additional liked features of the rack are its three-position capability, one for regular transport of bikes, a second for a tuck away stow position for no bikes, and a third downward position with no bikes to allow for tailgate opening while rack is fastened to the hitch. Lastly, the built-in locks for securing bikes to rack and rack to hitch are a great feature for convenience and peace of mind. If looking for a hitch bike rack, the Yakima HoldUp is a great place to start for a reliable and trouble-free experience.
Awesome. Easy to load and unload.

Steadyrack Bike Storage Rack - Wall Mount - 1 Bike w/ Fenders
$89.99. Once leaded it swings to the side to save as much room as possible and it is simple to load and unload your bike.
Love this trailer hitch. It totally exceeded my expectations. The hitch was back-ordered for a bit, but the company staff was super nice and helpful. You won’t be disappointed with the hitch and the company.
The bike rack has held up well for the first year of use. Well designed. We use it for two Specialized E-Bikes. The rack is heavy to install and uninstall on the truck but that comes with a sturdy design.
Ordered this luckily early on in the supply chain issues of 2020, and etrailer was one of the few retailers that had a reasonable ETA. I opted for the regular holdup over evo as I don't anticipate needing the fat tire support, nor did I want to pay the extra cost. My 4 year old is getting into bikes, so my wife and I bought some hybrids in order to keep up, and get some exercise. Also opted for the holdup because I don't like the hanging style carriers, and hated climbing up and down to get bikes off roof carriers. Rack works great, holds bikes securely, and fits pretty well in a Curt 2" hitch on our 2017 Outback. May eventually try out a hitch tightener to see if it gets rid of some minor wobble and creaking, but otherwise the rack is solid. Left off a star because there are some minor gripes. First, the latch to tilt the rack out of the way of the trunk door is in an awkward place, and requires you to slightly lift the rack to ease pressure on it in order to move. Granted they did fix this in the Evo, but I still don't think it's worth the upcharge. I ended up finding a Swingarm on sale to move the rack completely out of the way of the trunk. Really wish there was an all in one solution, but I get that Yakima wants to sell Exo's and Swingarms. Next, there's no retention point for the arms, so you have to be careful that the sliding piece which holds the arm in place will rest on the rack when not in use. I only had one bike mounted, and didn't realize the other arm had rotated past the rack, and was dragging on the ground when driving. Luckily only lost some non-essential rubber and didn't damage the arm itself (of course yakima sells replacements), but would have been a nice to have some sort of protection for user error, since I can't imagine a scenario in which you'd need the arm to rotate that far. My garage is unfortunately too small to comfortably keep the rack mounted full time, but installing and removing is a breeze. Highly recommend a socket wrench to tighten the bolt, yakima does supply a wrench but it's a pain to operate, especially when the rack is mounted.
The Bike Rack was delivered ahead of schedule and in perfect order. E Trailer was great to work with and I was very happy with their tracking system. I would gladly use them again.
Of all the bike carriers I looked at, the Yakima was the clear winner. And etrailer is one of the best vendors I have ever dealt with, whether in my private life or in my business career.
Great improvement over Yakima's older models of this hitch rack. Perfect for my road bike and my wife's electric Townie on the same rack. Quick, free delivery from eTrailer.
A well made bike carrier. It holds 2 bikes securely. The locking hitch bolt and locking bike cables also give it security. It is a little heavy to to move around, but I assume most are.
Great rack! I like that it literally takes 2 minutes to put two mountain bikes on or off. Holds bikes securely without scratching or damage. It's so easy to use that it encourages you to just throw the bike on the back of the van and go somewhere. Previously, we had to take the seats out of the mini-van, roll the bikes into the van leaning them against the side, and tie the bikes down inside the van so they wouldn't fall over while driving. This was a major pain.
This is a great rack and extremely well made. The consumer assembly is only the two cross arms with two bolts each. I debated between this and a similar Thule. The cable with integrated lock and the lockable hitch pin sold me on this one. I have two K2 29'ers and they fit well in the tire saddles. The pivot arm locks down tight on the front wheel as does the strap on the rear wheel making the bikes are very stable for traveling. The large threaded hitch pin dampen all the slop in the hitch receiver. The only con I have is the 20 degree fold down does not allow my 2009 Town & Country rear hatch to fully open. This may not be a problem with other vehicles. For all the pros on this rack I can live with the con.
Great service and quick delivery. I haven’t used it yet because of the cold weather but my best friend has the exact same one and loves it. Like the fact that it can lock the bikes in and lock the rack to your vehicle. Plus the slant down feature makes it easy to load e bikes. Would definitely recommend trailer to anyone looking for an awesome bike rack!
It only took a couple of days for the rack t arrive after I ordered it. I was impressed how sturdy the rack is. My wife rides a Trek Townie E-bike which is heavy (48 lbs) that I needed a sturdy rack to carry it in addition to mine. My hanging rack in no way would handle the weight (Total with all the gear, 70 lbs). My new rack handled it easily. This rack has some nice features that I looked for in a good rack. It was easy to put together and install on my car. It is fairly heavy but fits perfectly in my 2" hitch. With all the bikes loaded, there isn't any sway or movement with the rack as I drive. The rack sits nice and tight in the receptor. It has security locks that make hauling bikes a safe and secure experience. The cost was a little higher than I wanted to spend but I was glad I did. I know I bought a great product that will last for many years of riding. I highly recommend this rack to anyone looking for a quality rack for their bikes.
Rack is still going strong. The BackSwing attachment allows us to use this while camping, on road trips, etc. and we can access the back hatch on our Outback without removing the bikes. We use this for mountain bikes, as well as our heavy (65 lb) e-bikes. Very sturdy.
The bike rack exceeded my expectations! Well-designed and sturdy , yet not so heavy that I couldn't install it on my vehicle myself. Also E-trailer delivered the product as quickly as promised.
This rack is your best bet if you’re looking for an economical and quality platform rack. The comparable Thule and Kuat models do not have an integrated lock system like the Yakima. It was very simple to assemble and even easier to hitch up and load my bike. Works great with a Tacoma. I used to have a hanger-style rack and this platform is far superior.
Just finished installing my new rack. I am VERY happy with the rack from installation to loading and unloading the bikes. Also I was very impressed with etrailer. I was looking for a specific rack and and only knew of one company that offered a rack that could be expanded to hold 2 more bikes. I was about to make my purchase of the very expensive other brand when etrailer suggested I look at the Yakima. I was very impressed with their videos and could see how the rack fit on my car so I purchased the rack and everything was exactly like they explained. I look forward to using this rack for a very long time.
Just received my Yakama 2 bike rack for my 2012 VW Tiguan. It is very well built and simple to install. I especially like how it folds up close to the car when not in use. The rack is not heavy like the Rola that I had before this one. This was my second purchase from e-trailer and will definitely buy from them again. The staff is so friendly and eager to help. The web site is incredible, with install videos on the products.
The Yakima hold up is very sturdy and easy to use bike rack. My bikes are loaded faster than my 16 year old can inhale a cheeseburger. We have the 4 bike extension as well and while it’s big with all 4 bikes in, it’s compact enough and very sturdy when we’re headed to more remote trails. What’s even more excellent is the customer service I’ve received from eTrailer. Yakima had supplier issues and eTrailer kept us informed through the whole process. Even offering alternate racks and calling the supplier directly to get product availability estimates for me. Thank you!
Rack is perfect for our two Aventon Pace 500 E-bikes. Has been a faithful companion over the first year of use and has been used many times without any issues.
