48" x 25" x 27" This lockable, weatherproof cargo carrier has a large lid for easy loading and unloading. The sturdy polyethylene box slides out on a steel base for access to rear of vehicle and has built-in LED tail lights.
Features:
Specs:
The GearDeck 17 enclosed cargo carrier provides 17 cu ft of storage space behind your vehicle. It's perfect for hauling work equipment, camping gear, or sporting goods, and you can even carry the generator for your RV. The TwinTube slide-out base lets you telescope the cargo box - loaded or empty - away from your vehicle for access to your rear cargo area. It has a large, hinged lid that that lets you easily access your gear and is removable so you can haul your gear on an open tray. There are 2 Silent Hitch Pins that prevent wobbling and reduce noise in the trailer hitch receiver and the slide-out arm. The GearDeck also has LED tail lights, reflectors for visibility and safety, and a holder for your license plate.
The GearDeck's rigid polyethylene construction shields your cargo from weather, road grime, and UV rays. To keep out the elements, the lid is designed with an overhang around the entire edge. An automotive-grade rubber bubble strip around the lid creates a compression seal when the lid is closed to ensure your gear stays dry and clean.
The GearDeck 17 is also easy to clean. You can simply wipe down the exterior and interior surfaces, or pull out the 4 drain plugs in the bottom and hose it out.
There's no need to remove the GearDeck when you want to open your vehicle's rear hatch, doors, tailgate, or trunk. Simply pull a pin and slide the carrier away from your rear bumper. The telescoping TwinTube base allows the carrier to extend up to 36" out from its original position. The base is made of galvanized, cold-rolled steel, so it's sturdy enough to slide out even with the box loaded to capacity. However, you must slide the carrier back into place and secure it with the pin before moving your vehicle.
A braided steel safety cable prevents the TwinTube base from overextending. The cable is intended to be attached at all times.
The lid has a handle on the front that lets you raise it up for easy loading. It has ergonomic, pull-tight latches on both sides that keep the lid shut tight. There is also a built-in hole on the front of the lid for a padlock (sold separately) to deter theft. The rear lid is bolted to the tray, but both lids can be removed so you can transport your cargo on an open tray.
To keep you visible, safe, and street legal, the GearDeck has built-in LED tail lights that provide stop, tail, and turn functions. The lights are powered via the built-in wiring harness that plugs into your vehicle's existing 4-way connector. Reflectors for the ends of the TwinTube base are also included.
There is also a license plate holder on the base of the carrier. Simply remove your license plate from your vehicle and bolt it to the holder.
The GearDeck's TwinTube base consists of 2 pieces - the spine assembly and the frame assembly. The cargo box comes pre-mounted to the frame assembly. This enables the carrier to be installed in just a few simple steps. First, insert the spine assembly into your vehicle's 2" hitch receiver and secure it with the included Silent Hitch Pin. Then slide the cargo box onto the spine assembly. Complete the installation by lining up the corresponding safety pin holes on the spine and frame assemblies and then securing them with the second included Silent Hitch Pin.
The GearDeck's design offers 2 points of adjustment that can provide extra clearance between your vehicle and the carrier. The cargo box is attached to the TwinTube base with hat brackets. You can loosen the hat brackets and slide the box 5" forward or backward along the base. Just be sure to position the box behind the safety pin holes in the base. There are 2 hitch pin holes on the carrier's shank that are spaced 2-1/4" apart, which provide a second point of adjustment. When installing the GearDeck, simply choose the hole that provides the most clearance. You can also get an extended shank (HE06 - sold separately) to gain an additional 7" of clearance.
The GearDeck includes 2 Silent Hitch Pins to prevent rattling and movement in the trailer hitch receiver and TwinTube base. Each pin features a sturdy steel block with an attached spring that sits inside the square tubing. To activate the anti-rattle devices, just insert and tighten each pin. The first pin inserts through the hitch pin hole; the second is placed in the passenger-side TwinTube base rail.
You can also add locks (ACC3250 - sold separately) to each Silent Hitch Pin to secure the GearDeck to your vehicle.

48" x 25" x 27" This lockable, weatherproof cargo carrier has a large lid for easy loading and unloading. The sturdy polyethylene box slides out on a steel base for access to rear of vehicle and has built-in LED tail lights.Overall it's a great box. Love how much room it has and it's easy access. Slides out so van's rear doors open completely. Brake and turn lights improve visibility. Not waterproof but generally things stay dry. A couple of minor things: hole for lock was too close to the edge and pulled out so I drilled one on each front corner (more secure) - metal stays keep sliding out. I need to glue them in. I definitely would buy again.
Perfect sized box for carry sized luggage and softball game day gear. Proven space saver. Receiver is showing signs of rust otherwise would be a ten. Would buy again.
This cargo carrier has worked out great!
I relocated the spare tire by mounting it (welded) to on top of the rear bumper so I could have the carrier as close as possible to the trailer.
Having all the hoses, electrical cord, generators, leveling pads... ect. Is so darn convenient! Makes setting up and packing up a breeze! I am very happy with this carrier. I have had it a year and as I recall putting it together went smoothly. Also it does not block the view of the lights or license plate on the trailer. And having lights on the carrier is an extra safety feature! I painted the handle orange for a little extra visibility.

the cargo carrier is good with the exception of the sides not closing / sealing very good. Although I followed the assembly instructions, it seems to develop gaps and leaves in weather and dust / dirt.
The cargo carrier generally performed as intended, but it took a lot of tinkering and a warranty replacement of the lid to complete things to our satisfaction. On delivery we found that both two aluminum side stiffeners had been bent during shipment, and were replaced fairly quickly. We then found excessive play in the fit with the receiver, and it was impossible to accommodate a "noise reduction clamp" properly at the hitch, so I used part of a bent aluminum stiffener to apply pressure across the connection between the receiver and the hitch. And lastly, the lid section was warped by over 1", which still kept rain out, but did not keep fine dust out, and it was very unsightly. After a bit of discussion, a replacement lid was provided at no cost, which I have not yet had the chance to inspect as it was delivered to our Arizona home over the summer, and we spend the summer in Canada.

Our cargo box is working as intended, and adds crucial additional cargo space for our Airstream Interstate Class B RV. The replacement lid is much straighter across the top than the original, and seems rain tight. I never was able to install the aluminum side stiffeners, and as mentioned previously, the geometry of the hitch reinforcing makes it impossible to use a typical noise reduction clamp to stop lateral rattle, and I use my creativity to solve the issue. Overall, the box works fine.
Definitely a 2 person project. Nice step by step instructions. (Except for the “SS” strip installation on the “BB” lid. I did not understand the “Crimp the lip of the weather-stripping over the lid and angle to provide a tight grip”
Does that mean? Crimp the metal strip over the weather-stripping over the lid?
The only othe issue was th hole drilled on the base and the cover secured by bolt and nut was drilled to low on the base. (picture included)
Overall we are quite satisfied with the product.

Yes I do believe that you are supposed to crimp the metal piece over the weather seal gasket for a more secure fit. This is discussed in step 4 of the current version of the installation instructions. I have linked them for your reference.
The GearDeck meets our needs perfectly. After extensive research, here are the key points for me (I had recent back surgery).
1. The door hinges at the top and is open to the floor.
2. Large capacity.
3. Plenty of clearance when traveling.
4. The cargo carrier slides back so I can easily wash the windows.
5. It was a little pricey compared to other units; however, well worth it.
6. It looks good as an accessory on our Montana fifth wheel.
This is a good quality product and I have received many positive comments.
Great product, fits perfect and is very user friendly.
It does take a while to set up and instructions are not great especially for the different type of screws. We love the product much easier than roof top and give us los of excess room. We have been using it for one month for different purposes to go to cottage and it as past the test, even off road.....you can see the dirt.

Still working great....tuff and ages well. Lighting wiring could be more stable, sometime needs adjustments. All and all I recommend
I got this recently to be able to increase my SUV's cargo capacity especially on long trips with the family and large event DJ set ups that I do.
It took a while to get to me, but the guys at etrailer helped get it to me on time for an event I played recently. Thank you!
Tools and assembly required. There were a lot of parts and a bit of reading to do but the whole kit was packaged nicely. Instructions were clear, but you needed several kinds & sizes of tools (sockets, wrenches, etc) to assemble to box and fasten it to the hitch bars.
All in all I am very happy with the purchase. This is one of the easiest storage solutions I have used. Once assembled, the unit comes on and off easily. Once the unit is dismounted, everything fits in the box itself for storage. I slid the box out completely and put all the accessories and stinger inside the box. This makes stowing away easy compared to other swing away systems.
etrailer has the lowest price on the geardeck 17 I have seen.
Great box for hauling your "stuff". This thing is huge! I'm interested to see how well it holds up over time. But so far I'm really impressed. The sliding feature lets it get plenty far out of the way that we can still open the tailgate and get the dogs in. Definitely recommend this if you need a little extra cargo space.
etrailer's website was very helpful. After my online order, I received an order confirmation which was almost immediately followed by a tracking #. Just a few days later, the box arrived UPS (3 days earlier than the expected delivery date). I would definitely order from etrailer again!
I chose this product after reading the reviews and found most of the reviews to be accurate. It was the only cargo carrier I found that seemed to meet my needs (carrying a 9.8 hp outboard motor, takacat 340lx inflatable boat, outboard motor dolly, and fuel tank). I liked the front opening which allows easy access and I would not have to lift the 90 lb motor up and out/in.
The instructions were good. I assembled and installed the carrier with ease (It did not require 2 people). I was missing the following parts:
4-EE bolts
4-FF washers
4-GG washers
4-JJ lock nuts
2-NN lock nuts
2-MM washers
2-KK screws
1-Hole for tail light not drilled
4-AA Drain Plugs are too small for the holes in the pan
Overall, I believe the carrier will achieve the goal. Thus far, I would give etrailer an excellent rating. Lets Go Aero however, I would rate as Average due to the missing parts, hole not drilled for one of the light mounts, and the drain plugs being too small for the holes in the pan. I do love the design! I will be adding a cable/lock for the motor/boat which will be fairly easy.

The carrier has worked out well and I would buy it again. Its primary use is to carry a TakaCat 11 inflatable boat, 6hp outboard, gas tank, and battery pump. We use it with our RV and our Tesla Model Y.
Grate and durable product for traveling with extra storage
It has been about 10 days since our LetsGoAero Slide-Out Mount Cargo Carrier arrived. I just clicked on the link below and it is no longer available, so I am sending you a “review” that you may be able to use:
First, the good news: etrailer is an excellent vendor: great web site, great prices, fast delivery, and they answer their phone.
Second, the LetsGoAero Slide-Out Mount Cargo Carrier (17 cu ft) is an excellent carrier perfect for our Class B RV on a Mercedes Sprinter Chassis. The slide-out feature allows us to open the back doors and access the under sofa storage areas. The carrier takes some time to assemble, but the end result is worth it. The cargo carrier protects our stuff from the weather and should deter opportunity thefts. The twin tube slide-out is solid with no wobble. The clam shell opening makes it easy to get to the contents and is not so big that you end up carrying too much stuff. I have not tested for waterproof yet, but it looks like it should be OK. I highly recommend this carrier.
Now the bad news: The instructions are not good and they make assembly a whole lot less fun that need be. The details/descriptions of the parts are not very helpful, as the screws, nuts, and bolts are defined only by diameter, not length and there is quite a variety of these parts. The drawings of the assembly are not always helpful or accurate and may cause you to assemble, disassemble, and reassemble when you use the wrong bolts. My favorite mystery is what 2 L shaped aluminum strips are for, where you remove weather stripping, put on these aluminum strips, and replace the weather stripping. There is no info on how or why the strips are supposed to fit on the lid. The license plate “holder” is poor at best, held on by tiny 6mm screws. I cannot imagine the license plate still being on the carrier after a few hundred miles or entering/exiting some fueling locations.
I have called the LetsGoAero support phone, but no answer, no voicemail, just plenty of rings. I have emailed with my question about the aluminum strips, but no response yet. Again, really good product, but assembly is a challenge, instructions are bad, and support seems to be less than supportive.

The aluminum strips are placed between the weatherstrip and the rear portion of the box, to stiffen that edge. Youll need to partially peel back the weatherstripping back, place the angle strip then stick the weatherstripping back down.

The carrier is working well and fit our needs perfectly. I have found it to be water tight, is really solid on the trailer hitch, easy to load and unload, and plenty of usable space. There is some surface rust on the weld joints and the wax does not make it easy to pull the box away from the RV. We use the silencer bolt on the hitch and it works fine. We have received several compliments from other RVers, because it looks good, its big enough to hold a grill, chairs, and all the outdoor stuff we have a Class B with very limited storage. I always recommend e-trailer as the web site to search firstgreat product ion and customer service.
1) it allows the rear doors on a 2017 Mercedes sprinter 3500 to open fully which was a major concern.
2) however the wiring harness is not long enough when the box is fully extended and you need extension wiring on the vehicle plug in. (I am now having to splice very fine gauge wires together)
3) the folding part of the enclosure could use a third central hinge as the moulded plastic buckles, at the top of the hinged section leaving a potential water gap.
4) I purchased two locks for the two silent hitch pins, one on the box extension and one for the hitch itself. Unfortunately on the sprinter there is not enough room for the lock, as the van plug-in assembly is mounted closely to the hitch itself.
5) it is utiltarian and moulded plastic pieces of the body "almost" fit.
Stupid things like the plastic drain plugs which insert into the pan floor are too big for the holes in the pan requiring you to drill them out slightly bigger.
6) the info on how to insert the metal stabizer angle strips on the side walls of the lid are not easily understood nor is there a video showing how to do it. Screw driver and 4 hands required.
Overall relatively cheap versus fibre glass options and it should be functional. (It would be nice if they had an internal strapping system as it's a bit like using a toe and a hand cramming things into a closet when you try and shut the door and knowing the explosion when you open it)
Terrific service from etrailer however, a remarkably efficient sales crew who follow up and also provide great back up. Thxs

We do have a variety of 4-way flat wiring extensions that may be interested in, instead of splicing into the provided wiring for extensions.
I use this behind my 2014 Jeep charokee. My dogs can get in and out of the hatch without even extending it which is great ( however they are trained to do slice jumps in agility so that is helpful may not be the easiest for some dogs without extending it). I leave it on almost all the time. It makes stowing my gear on a daily basis when we go to training so much easier. I wish I had found it earlier.
Just returned from a 2k round trip to Boise, Idaho. Can’t believe how much this outfit held and how was it was to use. HIGHLY recommend this! Lots of interest in it along the trip, had one gentlemen tell us, he ordered one from his hotel in Boise, and a half dozen more interested. Great product.
Online description was detailed and accurate. Item was received in a just a couple days. I would definitely consider purchasing from Etrailer again
This carrier is everything I was expecting to get. I read reviews about problems with water getting inside but after using it on a 6000 kilometre trip my carrier always remained dry inside. It made the perfect spot to put my generator and fuel. There was lots of room left for my Webber bbq.
I also purchased hitch locks (4)which all are keyed to my pickup.
Great product etrailer, when I’m not using my cargo carrier on my trailer I use it on my pickup. There was a bit of play on the receiver but I made up some shims and problem solved. Good job would recommend to everyone. Thanks again.

Très utile il est attaché à mon VR très solide très utile et j’ai fait 25000km à conseiller
Let me start by saying that etrailer was once again an excellent company to deal with and did everything they said they would do with my order in a timely manner.
That said, this product is a miserable, overpriced excuse for an enclosed hitch cargo carrier.
I did a LOT of research into these products before placing this order and determined that this one had the features i was looking for (weight capacity, volume, weather resistance, etc.) so I coughed up the money and got this unit in preparation for a 1200 mile trip.
The unit arrived in one big box (disassembled) and I laid out the parts and (gasp!) read the assembly instructions. It seemed straight forward enough so i started putting tab A into slot B. Now, I am very handy with tools. I run a farm, I have a BS in construction management, I am a certified small engine mechanic, I weld, do woodwork, plumbing, electrical work, 3D print, and I’m a sys admin at a small data center (don’t ask). In short, I’m handy. Believe me when I tell you, this will take you longer than two hours to assemble, and there are points where you will need two people (I’m also a very large man and still needed help handling this beast at certain steps because of its size, not weight).
I first realized this was not the unit I had in mind when I came across a small square of material that I couldn’t identify in the parts bag. The instructions distressingly told me this was a wax block and I was to rub the wax on every surface of the slide bars on the vehicle side of the frame to “lubricate” the slide mechanism. Huh? No roller bearings? No nylon, low friction strips for the outer frame to slide on? WAX?!?! I was sure I just paid over $600 for this thing! Yup, I did!
Ok, let’s just move on. The next rinky-dink design “feature” was two anti-rattle bolts that get installed in the hitch bar that secures the hitch to the vehicle and the other in the end of one slide bar that keep the hitch and bars quiet. This sounds like a good feature, however, the execution of this idea leaves much to be desired. The nut that goes inside the hitch tube and slide bar each have a spring welded on so you can slide the nut down inside the steel tubing and the nut has some friction to keep it in place. That’s all the nut has to keep it in place. No retainer clip, no ridges inside the tube, no fitted flange on the nut that could drop through the hole and prevent slippage. One not-too-hard bump to either of these tubes while the bolt is out and the nut could wind up plunging into the depths of a steel tube with no way of getting it out without some inventive tool manufacturing and a fishing expedition. The one on the hitch side had the added disadvantage of having no lock, so you could either have quiet or a secure trunk, but not both. I finally went with two other products, a u-bolt anti-rattle device that fits outside the bar and hitch tube, and a good, old fashioned, pin lock. The bolt on the slide rail was better, but still had to be turned way too many times to bring it up tight, adding about a minute to each trunk slide cycle. A pin lock (not included) could be used in a hole in the opposite slide bar for security.
On the the next disappointment. The top of the box is made of a decent grade of fairly thick plastic, so nothing unusual there. The gasket for weather proofing runs around the edge of the forward part of the clam shell, down to the bottom edge where it meets the floor pan of the box. There is no gasket around the top of the floor pan or at the bottom of the clam shell, just an overhang. Additionally, the way that the clam shell comes together while closing pinches the gasket between the edges of the two halves of the clam shell and eventually cuts into the gasket, which happened very soon into my trip. The back half of the clam shell was slightly pinched in, making it necessary to walk to either side of the box to maneuver the edges to the outside of the front half of the clam shell.
I swallowed an urge to rent an enclosed U-Haul trailer and soldiered on. The next assault on good sense and honest marketing was the lockability of the box. This was laughably achieved by a hole drilled through the bottom overhang of the rear half of the clam shell and through the lip on the box base, through which you could run a small padlock to “secure” the box. Considering I could then lift the outer corners of the top and stick my arm well inside the box, without permanently deforming the plastic, it wouldn’t take much more to bend the plastic back and have your way with my precious possessions, if I were foolish enough to trust them to this design monstrosity. I wound up investing almost $100 additional to purchase Master Python cable locks that could be wrapped around the box and cinched up tight to secure the outer edges of the box. This took a lot of extra time every time I had to get into the box, but I was leaving the next morning on my trip and had no choice but to McGuiver a solution. Over $600, right? Yup...
Some minor points, but still worth mentioning, the license plate bracket is not really a bracket, but rather two short metal straps that bolt on to the tail light assembly on the bottom. I feared for the safety of my plate the whole time. The wiring harness for the tail lights was wired with non-weather resistant connectors that would last less than a season in any extream climate like the Northeast or Midwest. The reflectors inserted into the rear slide tubes keep falling out with just a slight bump.
After I stopped crying over bad design and wasted potential, I left on my trip. I was lucky enough to make it all the way to my destination and unpack into the hotel before the rain started. Over the next several days, I checked the inside of the box for water and found a fair amount every time. This box is NOT water proof and not even very water resistant. On my return trip I wound up wrapping each suitcase in a trash bag to keep it dry. This, and the Python locks wrapped around the box, had the effect of making my family look like the Beverly Hillbillies when we showed up at a very nice hotel in Washington DC on the return trip. The vallets were openly laughing at us as they parked Mercedes and BMWs around us.
I avoided sliding the box back for most of the trip because it took so long to deal with the anti-rattle bolt, so I was glad my SUV has a lift glass on the rear hatch so I could access most of my stuff.
So, if I haven’t made it clear, this box was a huge disappointment. I would never buy it again. I would return it in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. I would never recommend it to a friend (although I can think of a few enemies I might wish this on). I will be selling this (at a substantial loss, I would imagine) and getting a competing brand. I will never buy another GearDeck product.
Over $600, right? Yup...
The product arrived with no instructions, bolts/hardware missing and the plastic warped. Definitely not what I was thinking I was getting. Had to spend money to get the hardware needed to put together because extra storage was needed and could not wait

Oh my! We would want this enclosed carrier to arrive intact for sure. I know that you were able to replace the missing hardware however I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.
The Gear Deck 17 Cargo carrier has been a great item to have to extend our vehicles cargo capacity. It came with zero missing parts and seems well built for the year i've had it. It does take a long time to build so make sure you are not in a rush situation. The only small critique is that the standoffs where the rubber handles stretch to attach appear to be warping slightly and could possibly crack after years of use. We'll see how those hold up but so far so good.
This GearDeck 17 Cargo Carrier has been extremely valuable. The design makes for easy accessibility of all items stored without removing other items to reach the gear needed. I use mine for storing and using a 3500 watt generator that does not need to be removed to run it, which is excellent given that the generator weighs nearly 90 lbs.
I do wish the bottom tray was made of thicker/sturdier plastic however.
Just got back from the first trip with this cargo box.
It is plenty big for our needs and is easy to remove and reattach and there was no water intrusion, even though we went through some serious storms.
The instructions for assembling this are poor and several of the holes didn't line up; have a drill handy. They don't explain which side of the box the lid gets attached. I was lucky; if I hadn't guessed right I would have had to tear it down and start over. Also, the box is made of thin, flimsy plastic; that makes it light but not secure. The locking :system" is 2 holes in the plastic lips of the box and lid. Regardless of the type of lock you buy, the plastic can be defeated with a pocket knife. If security is important to you (we didn't put anything valuable in it so it's not to me) this could be a deal breaker.
You need to balance the security vs the weight savings of the thin plastic; it worked for us.
Excellent and fast service and shipping from etrailer.
I purchased this product because of the design, reviews, and price. I will write the negative first and the positive second. From the Company's (Lets Go Aero) standpoint, if I had been the median purchaser I would have returned this product, which is really bad because I would not have figured this out until I had most of it assembled. The result would likely have been a very upset customer. I like the GearDeck 17 overall, but there are 3 issues that need to be corrected at the factory immediately. 1) THE INSTRUCTIONS: Why in the world would a company in the US, send such terribly written instructions out with their moderately complex product assembly requirements? They are incorrect and incomplete in both text and illustrations. 2) THOSE 2 ALUMINUM ANGLES: Do they go on the inside or outside? What are they for exactly? If they are to act as spacers to protect the gasket, could they not have molded in the solution? The really absurd part is that they expect them to be held in place by crimping the channel on the weather strip. That's BS.
I corrected the instructions with help from reviews and figuring it out, and I corrected the angle stupidity by riveting them in place. 3) In regard to quality control in manufacturing, there is only one area (2 issues) the hinge placement and the hinge backing plate/bar. The left hinge was placed about 1/2" too far the the left (too wide). This can be lived with. If it had been to the right I would have gone to the trouble to return this product. The right 3 rivets did not hold the backing bar in place (one of which went through the hinge). The rivets appear to be defective. This should have been caught by the riveter. I removed these 3 rivets, purchased the appropriate length and diameter rivets, had to ream the holes with a 3/16" drill, and then reinstalled.
Positives: 1) 17 cubic feet (no competition) 2) slides out 3) excellent light kit 4) clam shell hard enclosure 5) overall design 6) nylock nuts (why wasn't all of the fasteners stainless steel?) 7) the receiver hitch pin and slide out pin are an excellent design (does not rattle) 8) mounting height is not too low or too high 9) light weight 10) frame rigidity is excellent.
I hope the quality control, instructions, and aluminum angle business are addressed immediately because overall this is an excellent choice for our filled to capacity Ford Expedition EL.

Darn those receivers ruining the rate of this carrier! If you take some rust-o-leum type of paint, and cover the receiver, it should help prevent any rust in the future. Making your Game Days pristine and worry free! I have a link below that has more information on that.
