NOCO GB20 Genius Boost Sport Lithium Jump Starter Diagram

The NOCO GB20 Boost Sport jump starter provides professional grade performance in a compact and portable design. Rated at 400 amps (4,650 joules) of starting power, it can easily jump start gas engines up to 4 liters. This means it's great for cars, motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, and lawn equipment with single battery systems. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 20 jump starts per charge. A built-in LED work light and charging port for USB devices make it a great addition to any roadside emergency or safety kit.

How to Jump Start Your Car Using A Lithium Jump Starter Diagram

The GB20 removes the frustration of having to find or wait for someone to give you a jump. Just attach the clamps to the vehicle's battery terminals, turn the unit on, and start your engine. It's that simple.

User-Friendly Interface with LED Indicators

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport Layout Diagram

The GB20 was designed to provide a simple, user-friendly experience. Back-lit LED indicators let you verify that the unit is operating correctly, and they allow it to be easily operated at night. These indicators signal the unit's charge status and alert you to potential performance issues or errors. This allows you to identify if the unit is too hot or cold for operation or detect a reversed polarity connection to a battery.

The touch-button interface allows you to turn the unit on or off or activate the LED work light at the push of a button. The manual override feature can be selected to jump start a deeply discharged battery, below 2-volts. It is important to remember that when this mode is activated, the unit's safety features will be disabled.

Precision Needle-Nosed Boost Battery Clamps

NOCO GB20 Precision Boost Battery Clamps

The Precision Boost battery clamps included with the GB20 are built to fit tight spaces on powersport equipment and remote battery applications. Unlike typical, plastic battery clamps, the Boost clamps are constructed entirely of metal, ensuring maximum conductivity. The clamps are covered with an over-molded plastic housing, which makes them easy to operate even with work gloves on. And the durable 8 AWG silicone cables remain flexible in cold weather so you won't struggle while positioning the clamps.

High-tension springs in the clamps let them tightly grip top and side post battery terminals, and prevent them from slipping during use. The cables connect to the GB20 by plugging them into the available Boost connector port. A protective cover ensures the connection point stays protected when the cables are disconnected from the unit.

High-Intensity LED Work Light with 6 Settings

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport Built-in LED Work Light

From jumping a dead battery to changing a flat tire, the GB20 has you covered. The unit has integrated LEDs, with 3 brightness settings, which can be used as a work light in low-light conditions. It can also function as an emergency beacon. Just choose a flash pattern, SOS, blink, or strobe, and then set the unit behind your vehicle to increase visibility and safety.

Portable Charging Power for USB Devices

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport USB Charging Port

The GB20 also doubles as a portable power source. The unit has a USB port, which make it easy to charge a smartphone, tablet, camera, wireless headphones, or other device. This is great when you're in an area where power may not be readily available, like a campsite.

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport USB Device Charging Times Diagram

The table above provides a quick reference for how many times you can recharge your USB devices before the unit itself needs to be recharged.

Quickly Recharge from USB Power Sources

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport Rapid Charge Technology

The GB20's lithium-ion battery can be recharged from 0 to 100-percent in as little as 3 hours, from a USB power source rated at 2-amps. You can easily charge the GB20 while on the go by plugging it into a USB compatible 12V port, such as a wall charger or vehicle aux port.

NOCO GB20 Boost Sport Charging Times

The Boost Sport can be charged from any USB-powered port, like a laptop, but can take up to 12 hours to completely charge based on the amp rating of the connection.

Rugged Weatherproof Design

NOCO GB20 Rugged IP65 Rated Housing with Port Covers

The GB20 comes with rubber covers that seal the connection points to protect the unit from dirt, dust, and water. With the ports closed the unit has an IP65 rating, which means it can withstand multi-directional, low-pressure water jets and is completely sealed against solid particles like dust or sand.

The housing is made from tough lexan resin that protects the internal electronics against impacts. The unit can handle being dropped, kicked over, and just about anything else the work day brings with it.

Video Transcript for NOCO Genius Boost Sport Jump Starter Review

Hey guys, Randy here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the NOCO Genius Starter Pack. This is their Boost Sport. It's going to deliver 400 cranking amps for power to help get your battery charged back up or not charged back up, but at least get your vehicle started so you can get back on the road. And it uses a lithium-ion battery. It comes in a very small, compact size.

So let's pull it out of here, take a look at it, go over some of the features and tell you what I think. When pulling it out, you see it's a nice small, compact size. This is the GB20. You can see 400 amps there. It's a 12 volt system. Basically, we've got our 12 volt out here on this end.

That's where we can plug our cables into. These cables are going to be good and long as far as normal battery situations, being able to get from the positive to the negative there. We'll plug in right there on the side, nice secure fit. And then at that point once it's hooked to your battery, you're just going to turn it on and it'll be ready to jump you.On the other end, we've got a USB and that's how we charge it. Charging cable is also going to be included.

See right there, we can just plug that into a . It can be a half amp, it can be a one amp, or it can be a 2.1 amp charger. Of course, the lower the amperage, the longer it's going to take to charge back to full, and then your USB will just plug in right there to get it charged up. So any standard phone charger, tablet charger, is going to work out fine. Then we've got a USB out. That's going to allow us to, if we want to use the same cable, plug it in there and then charge up any of our devices.

Any cable can go in there as long as it's a USB type and it's going to put out 2.1 amps of charge. So even your iPads and tablets and things like that, this is going to give you plenty of amperage to be sure that they get charged properly. I like that it's sealed up. All the caps are going to go in there and seal everything up when it's not in use.And overall with it being a lithium-ion, you know they put a lot of power in a pretty small package there. This is going to be good. I've worked with customers with this a few different times for a couple of different jump starts, three, four jump starts off the same charge or charging several phones up at the same time, charging a couple of tablets up without having to worry about draining it down. And this can be charged while you're in your vehicle. A lot of people say if you're an Overlander, if you like to go off-road, UTVs, ATVs, things like that, with this being so small and so compact, we can keep it with us, have it on hand at all times. But then if we use it, we can plug it into a 12 volt outlet just through a phone charger or something like that and get it recharging. So while our vehicle is running, while our battery is being recharged, this can also be recharged. So if we need it again, it's readily available. To help ensure that nothing goes wrong, there's a polarity protection here. So if we have this hooked up the wrong way, it's not going to be an issue. It's just not going to work. We'll have to reverse them. And also, if you happen to click the two alligator clips together, there's no sparks. We'll show you that when we use it on the battery here in the Jeep that we've got dead. It's really safe. That's what the biggest benefit to this is, I think is that safety factor. That pretty much is going to allow us to do what we need to do without the hazards that typically come from trying to run cables without them touching or creating sparks and things like that.Just to go over the buttons, we have our power button here. It's going to turn it on and also turns it off. Got our light button here. We'll go over those different modes in just a second. And we've got our override. This, I don't recommend using this unless you absolutely have to. This is going to be one of those cases and it would have to be a smaller battery like a two, three, 400 amp battery, cold cranking amp battery. What you do, you're going to hold that down for three seconds. If the battery gets below two volts, the charger doesn't want to do it or the jump pack does not want to start those. So, you can hold that down. Once it's on, hold that down for three seconds. See, it gives us that flash. That means we're in that mode. But one thing to keep in mind, all the safety features when in that mode are disabled. So if we click the two clips together, they're going to spark. If we hook it up backwards on our battery, it's not going to know, it's not going to recognize. So please keep that in mind. If you're using that mode, you need to be extra careful and not do anything wrong. As far as the light goes, that's right here. We're going to have three functions on the pure light. We're going to have a high, medium, and a low. We're also going to have an SOS, we're going to have a strobe and we're just going to have a flasher. The key to get through those is you have to press the button within three seconds. So I'm going to press it once, it's going to turn it on high, and then we'll work through hitting the button about every two seconds, the different options that we have. There's medium, low. There's our SOS. There's our basic flash. And there's our strobe. We'll let that go and if we wait longer than three seconds, the next time we hit it, it just turns it off. So we hit this, the light goes off and that's regardless of what setting we're in. Say we're in our SOS flash pattern, we'll give it the time after the three seconds. Time to put it out, simply hit that button, it's going to turn off.I think this is going to be a good solution to have around and to have on hand. It's not for heavy duty applications. This is going to be lawnmowers, ATVs, UTVs, small four cylinders, small V6s, things like that. You're not going to take this out to a completely dead F-250 Super Duty and it fire up. Just doesn't have the capacity. And you probably already know that. They do make these in plenty of different types. This one happens to be the 20. They have a 50 XL, they have a I50, so there's lots of variety out there. They all share the same feature. So if you need more power if you have more demands, that's probably going to be a better option. If you're in that smaller area though, the smaller batteries, I think this is an excellent solution. Our alligator clips, we took a look at them. And as I said, I think these are good links for most batteries. But, some of the ATVs, some of the UTVs and things like that, their batteries can get in pretty weird spots. They can be covered up where maybe they're not readily accessible. So something I would recommend, if you look here on the clamps, there's a screw in there. And you can take these clamps off and use that to attach directly to your battery. That prevents you though from being able to use it on multiple rigs. So what I'd recommend, we sell this same pigtail here, it comes up and it's going to have those two eyelets on it just like what we see. So you could attach that to a problem vehicle.Maybe your, I don't know, your lawnmower has a battery up under the seat where you can't really get to it, but it tends to always be dead when you go out. So by having this on there, you can cap it off. It can live on your lawnmower. Then when you go out to use it, just take this out there with you, plug it in, turn it on, give it a few seconds, hit the key and fire it up. I think for certain situations, it's harder to get two batteries. It could be a good option for you.Another thing I like about the cables, they just don't have the plastic that goes around the outside. NOCO always seems to use the best quality products that they can. And what these are, they've got a silicone wrap on them. It helps them to stay very, very flexible, very malleable so we can get them on different angles. Even if it's really cold outside, these really don't get that hardened feel that you get out of some of the other ones.Being able to get all that power out of such a compact size is really nice. It makes for very easy storage. You can see here in the Jeep, you've got it tucked in the glove box. Even with it being about half full of other stuff, these aren't known to be the biggest glove boxes in the world. You can see it tucks in there nicely. Got to be able to store it away. This could also be stored under your seat. It could be stored in your toolbox. ATVs and UTVs, we can put those in the storage area. Really always have it on hand.Of course there's nothing better than a good old fashioned test. So, basically we've got a 4.0 liter. This is the highest size engine that they say this is going to be able to work for. We've left the lights on for quite a while now. The battery is down at about four and a half volts. So very well discharged. Let's take a look, see what happens. Of course, when using these, we want the black to go on the negative side of the battery. We want the red to go on the positive side of the battery, but it's something I think is neat. So you've got a couple of warning indicators here, so let's turn it off. We're going to connect it reverse. So I'm going to put the positive on the black, put the negative on our red. You can see right here, we've got that red LED. That's indicating that we've got a reverse polarity situation. So, it's not going to help us, it's not going to do anything for us.And also something I find really cool, unlike a lot of times when you're using a set of jumper cables, you get a lot of sparks and things like that. With these, you can see where it's connected on this side and this side, you don't have that. There is no sparking. It recognizes that there's a problem and it's going to keep that from happening. Turn it on here. You can see, no sparks, no issues. Just alleviates yet another common problem we see when it comes to using jumper cables. So we've got black on black, we've got red on red, powered on. And basically that's what you're going to see. You're going to see those lights feeding towards the battery. And then that white light that we have on right here then indicates that the boost mode is on. So let's see what happens. This is a pretty big engine with pretty low power for right now. So, see if it can start it. So the battery in here, it's an 800 cold cranking amp battery and we've got it drained well below 50%. And right off the bat, just looking without hitting the key, it would not start it. With the 400 amps of power, maybe we'll just leave it connected. In the instructions it says, if it doesn't start it the first time, leave it connected for about 30 to 45 seconds. That helps to rejuvenate the battery slightly. So we'll give it that time, give it 30, give it 45 seconds. We'll try it again and see what happens. All right. Well, that worked. I'm really surprised with as dead as this battery was, that this small of a jump pack was going to do it. I really didn't think it would, so I'm pretty impressed with it. Of course, we want to disconnect it, turn the power off. I think this is going to be a great charger for really anything below this. I mean, the Jeep's got a big starter on it. It draws a lot of power to get everything cranking with that straight six. I would put this in your small sedan, small coupe, UTVs like we've talked about, ATVs, small tractors even, lawnmowers, ATVs, things like that. Plus the additional feature, that USB out, so we can charge up all of our electronics and stuff. I think overall for as small of a package as what we've got here, it is handy as it could be, this is going to be great to have around.

Noah E ordered me the correct parts that I needed Thanks Noah E

These hold a charge for months. Have used to charge devices like phones, speakers and flashlights and start my truck when “someone” left the interior light on for a week!

by:

Have had this for over a year. Takes up very little space in my car. My battery died while out of town this summer, used it to jump start my car, drove straight to an auto supply store, got a new battery - no muss, no fuss. I have AAA but this was so much easier than waiting for them to show up.

Work great!I've used them a couple times! A must have in every vehicle!

I have used my NOCO to start my truck and my Ford Tractor. The tractor was out in the brush and very difficult to get to with jumper cables. The NOCO paid for itself with the tractor because I didn't need to have a service call. You hope you don't need it often but when you do, it is a life saver. For a hundred bucks one should be standard equipment in every new car.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius Boost in Jumper Cables and Starters

Have been an etrailer customer for years. As usual, my order arrived in a very timely manner. I have carried a lead acid battery type of emergency jump battery in my car for years. I purchased one for my adult daughter but, she does not carry it in her car because of it's size (she always has things in the trunk) not to mention she never remembers to charge it. I had one of the lead acid types corrode and leak acid inside the unit and ruin it. This time I purchased two of the Noco 1000A GB40 units, one for me and one for my daughter. Because of it's much smaller size, lithium battery, power output and ability to hold a charge for longer periods. maybe she will keep it in her car.

I've owned this unit for a full year now and used it several times. Like all of these things you have to read the actual directions, which I failed to do the first time. The unit and the boost function work great. I've jumped super dead cars, and larger trucks with it with no issues at all. The unit feels like a quality build and has a nice case. Another superb product from etrailer.
