The adjustable design of this trailer lets you tow almost any type of small boat. You can lay the trailer's bunk boards either side to side or front to back, depending on the watercraft you want to carry. And with 12" diameter wheels and an 86" long trailer tongue, this trailer can support boats up to 14' long and up to 800 lbs.
Install the bunk boards so that they are positioned across the trailer's frame to tow your kayak or surfboard. The bunks provide enough cargo space to tow 2 kayaks at once.
Set the trailer's bunks front to back to hold your jon boat, pontoon boat, or inflatable. You can also adjust the tilt of the bunks to contour to your boat's hull when towing a canoe or dinghy.
This trailer comes with bolster brackets of 2 different heights, so you can choose the brackets that work for your type of boat. Then adjust the swivel brackets to tilt the bunk boards so that they cradle your boat's hull. Finally, the winch stand can be unbolted and moved along the trailer tongue to fit the length of your boat.
If you're towing a jon boat or pontoon, you can use the included hand-crank winch to ease loading and unloading. After installing the included winch stand on the trailer's tongue, mount the winch to the stand. A bow roller bracket, complete with rubber roller, is also included to keep your boat from hitting the winch stand.
The wiring for this trailer has a simple plug-and-play design, so it doesn't require any cutting or splicing to install. As you assemble the trailer, route the main wiring harness through the trailer tongue and down towards the body of the trailer. Then plug the 4-wire end of the tail light harness into the main harness.
Run the wires of the tail light harness along the sides of the trailer frame and plug the individual wires into the matching wires on the side marker lights and the tail lights. The wires are color-coded so that you can easily match them up - no circuit tester is required. Once all of the wires are plugged in, use the included clips to secure the harness to the frame.
When you're ready to connect the trailer to your vehicle, simply plug the trailer end of the main harness into the 4-way flat connector on your vehicle.
The DOT-approved tail lights on this trailer are fully submersible, so you don't have to worry about water damaging the lights when you're loading and unloading your boat. Each tail light has brake, running light, and turn signal functions, as well as side marker lights and reflectors. In addition, these lights are comprised of LEDs, which last longer, burn brighter, and require less power than incandescent bulbs.
Amber side marker lights are included as well. They mount on the trailer's frame to keep the trailer visible from the side.
The frame and fenders on this trailer are made of galvanized steel, giving them excellent resistance to rust and corrosion, even in saltwater. And the marine-grade carpeting on the bunks resists mold and mildew buildup, keeping the wooden bunks protected and free from rot.
This trailer includes a leaf spring suspension system to limit road shock while you tow. A sturdy steel axle runs beneath the trailer frame. The 2 slipper springs on top of the axle flex to absorb the rough motion that can occur when driving over bumpy terrain. Also, the axle, spring hangers, and tie plate are galvanized to resist rust and corrosion.
The trailer's trigger-latch-style coupler connects to a 2" hitch ball. The included safety chains act as an emergency measure if the coupler accidentally disconnects from your hitch ball. Finally, the tongue skid on the underside of the trailer tongue keeps the coupler up off the ground when it's not coupled.

Multipurpose trailer lets you haul your jon boat, kayak, or personal watercraft. Adjustable bunks can be set front to back or side to side to hold different types of boats. 13' Long trailer with 12" wheels supports boats up to 14' long.So far so good. Easy to follow instructions (about a six pack job). Tracks very well and the suspension is very good for rough back roads at high speed (the main reason I decided not to buy and modify a folding utility trailer and happy with the decision after i hit the first pot hole). I put the bunks perpendicular so I can transport a second kayak or storage box so I will need to see how well the bunk screws hold up in that config as its not exemplified in the instructions so may not be advised(?). Easy to move by hand with a heavy kayak (Old Town AP 136) on it. Buy a tounge handle and spare wheel just in case.
Extremely high quality trailer and easy to assemble. About 6 hours with 3 people. Lighting back and sides of trailer high quality..Great value for price. Has grease fitting on tires. Only difficulty was following pictures of the wiring harness location on trailer..Rate this trailer a 10..Shipping and office people the best..Richard T
I received bolt-together trailer CE48870, assembled it, and loaded onto it my 300-lb, partially completed, 11-foot speedboat without engine (outboard). I have not put the trailer on the road yet.
Though I had little problem in assembly, the instructions could be clarified and expanded for the benefit of those inexperienced in bolt-together trailer assembly. Examples are: (1) As has been pointed out by others, identification of parts bag numbers in instructions (vs only a photo) would be helpful. (2) Due to the lack of detail in the included instructions, it was possible to mount the fenders using the wrong set of holes in the main rails, requiring removal and remounting of both fenders. (3) Contrary to instructions, the rearmost bolt in the tongue did have to be removed for passage of the wiring connector back into the tongue for protection. (4) Installation of the tail lamp brackets per instructions (“holes toward the bottom”) would result in “backwards” positioning of the tail lamp pair. (5) The winch axle bolt had to be loosened and reoriented in order for the hex on the bolt and nut heads to clear the close tolerance slots in the bow stop bracket. This is not a big thing, but it should definitely be mentioned in the instructions (and video). Otherwise, this could lead to improper installation.
On the winch stand, I had to drill out the series of winch mounting holes for bolt passage, due to the zinc coating material flowing onto the perimeters of most of the holes during the galvanizing process. I would have preferred hex screws vs Phillips head screws for the bunks, due to location and torque requirements.
No parts were missing, except for one washer, for which wrong size was provided. I was impressed that the wire routing clips were of the barbed type, for more positive installation (tend less to slip off). The overall quality of the trailer appears very good to excellent. I’ve giving four stars vs five mostly because of the instructions.
Overall good, except that the tail lights do not last long before allowing water in and getting extremely corroded. The 2 LED tail lights in my case will need to be replaced soon. Always check your lights before you leave so you don't get stopped by police for having defective tail lights.
My trailer arrived in 4 boxes, each were easy to move and unpack. The assembly video on the website was extremely helpful because this is a fairly big project and the parts can be confusing. I also needed the instructions for referencing which bolts to use. The instructions were not in any of the boxes so I called and immediately got help. We downloaded the PDF off the CE Smith website and were good. It's the perfect trailer for my needs and fully adjustable.
I found that watching the assembly video and having the instructions was what made assembly go smoothly, without both I would have been very confused.
This is a great way to pick up an affordable high quality trailer!
This is a very well engineered multi sport trailer with high quality parts and materials. I am glad I went with Smith and purchased through E-trailer!
The problem: How to transport kayaks with smaller vehicle as weight of cross & kayak racks plus kayaks was above vehicle roof weight limits. So I shopped for a "kayak" trailer.
The people at etrailer made the ordering process easy and successful to complete this project.
Great trailer, impressed with the size & strength of frame, and assembly went together as instructed.
Installed bunk boards and mounted Thule DockGrip for Kayaks.
This for me is an easier and safer way to transport kayaks.
Thank you etrailer...
First, I received the trailer kit, in four boxes, ahead of schedule. Building the trailer is pretty much as easy as the etrailer.com video demonstrates. There are not many parts but there are a lot of bolts and compression nuts. I took about five hours to build the trailer using manual tools other than an electric drill for the bunk screws. That includes time to correct a couple of mistakes (not following the directions).
The lighting connected to my SUV's wiring harness and all lights work exactly as expected.
I have an Old Town Sportsman kayak that is 110 lbs empty and it is 13 1/2 feet long. I centered the weight toward the front bunker so about 54 inches extends beyond the back of the trailer. I could have moved it forward but opted to keep a lighter tongue weight.
Because of the kayak's weight, this trailer is so much easier than trying to haul the kayak on the top of my SUV. I plan to transport the kayak between Wisconsin and Florida, plus any place there is a boat launch and fish.
Thank you etrailer.com, and Noah, for making my life so much easier. This is money well spent!
I received this order.hut inside no ownership.so I’m can’t register in DMV. I send third time email but no answer?why?
Great trailer for my 12.5’ Bris inflatable boat. Assembly time wasn’t bad at all, just take your time.
One thing I wish is that it is about 6” longer from the rear so you can have room to mount trailer guides. The way the spring leaf attached left it no room.
Nice trailer. Wife and I assembled in 4 1/2 hours. Dealing with etrailer was easy. The personnel were very helpful and knowledgeable. Quick shipping and the Order status updates were great.
I'm only at 4 of 5 stars because I've not had the trailer on the road or used it to launch the boat at the lake due to Lake Lavon (Texas) being at high water level. The trailer's materials of construction are good but I wish the packages of fittings matched the assembly instructions better. I got this trailer for my Pelican Bass Raider 10E. In order to accommodate this boat I added a 96" by 35 3/8" frame constructed of 2" x 4" lumber. The frame is held together using 6" mending plates (4) and 4" x 4" braces (18) and the entire frame is coated with urethane sealer. This frame is bolted to the trailer using existing holes in the trailer frame and 4"x 4" braces to bolt around the trailer tongue. I also added 2 pairs of 4 ft Dutton-Lainson deluxe roller bunks (that I purchased from Etrailer last year) to the wooden frame for ease of loading and unloading. In addition I added a Libra 1000# wheeled jack, a pair of eye bolts to the rear frame for tie down straps and boat guides to the trailer fenders using 4" x 4" braces (2) and some 1" pvc sch 40 pipe. This boat has lots of equipment on board (2 batteries with control switch, battery charger, oars, anchor, trolling motor and other fishing equipment). So far I'm pleased with this trailer.
The trailer came with easy to follow directions and good hardware. All of the nuts were nylon lock and the premade wire sections were of generous length. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase both from a product quality standpoint as well as a customer service standpoint.
I was skeptical of a bolt together trailer being a quality product but my concerns are all gone after this trailer. It went together easily and is definitely a quality product. This trailer tracks laser straight while towing.
Took a while to put together, some of the screw packs were not labeled but the directions showed all pieces for each step. Some of the holes that held the screws were not fully hollowed out and i had to drill some of the holes out which made the already long build that much longer. In all, the trailer is very nice and works well with my 14ft john boat.
Trailer boxes arrived. There's a video on youtube on how to put it together plus clear instructions in the manual. Nice Trailer. The paperwork with the V.I.N.# arrives separately and is not included in the boxes. Usually a few days later.
Just as described! Instructions were easy to understand with great pictures.
Has it been a year? wow. My little dingy - sailboat is on it in the backyard. It is still in perfect condition. Nice product for the money. I want to figure out how to have it drop down so the boat will slide off.
Great Kayak trailer. Awesome customer s ervice.
I assembled the trailer today, it went together nicely. It took the better part of the day. The step by step instructions were good, and I am glad I also took the time to watch the assembly video ahead of time; I believe that was also helpful.
Almost assembled quality seems good instructions were easy to follow
Works great for my 11 foot Jon boat!
