Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the LubriMatic White Lithium Grease

Hey, everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the LubriMatic white lithium grease. This is going to be a 14 ounce tube that will work for your grease guns that have that 14 ounce capacity, which is typically going to be your full size grease guns. Now white lithium grease is going to be great for a lot of different applications. Typically, the most common application for these is going to be on a fifth wheel trailer or a fifth wheel hitch. Since it's going to have that nice white color with zinc additive, it makes it easy to spot and make sure that everything is greased up and lubricated properly.Since it doesn't have any silicone in it, it can be used on plastic components without them being damaged, so you don't have to worry about any damage there.Pop off the cap. You can see inside we'll have that white lithium grease.

It's about the consistency of peanut butter. That's what that NLGI, or National Lubricating Grease Institute number two means. That two designation just means that it's a higher viscosity. Basically means it's just a thicker liquid. Number two is a pretty normal consistency for grease, so that's considered normal. The drop point for this is 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Again, does work with your grease gun, so whenever you put this in place, you'll want to remove the cap, pull the top off and put that in place. Probably want to put the pull that top off after you actually have it into your grease gun. Thread that in place and then you're good to go.If you need to pick up a grease gun, we have a lot of different options available here at etrailer.com. We also have this white lithium grease available in a 16 ounce tub, in a smaller three ounce TUBE for your mini grease guns, as well as in a spray form. So a couple of different options there for your application. That's going to do it for our look at the LubriMatic white lithium grease, 14 ounce cartridge..

Appreciate good service and will definitely won't miss the mess of refilling cartridges this summer.

Well I presume the actual product is good but it looks like it came from a storage room that hadn’t been touched in years. At least wipe it off before sending it to customers. It just looks bad.

  • Lubrication And Maintenance For A Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Demco has instructions listed for proper lubrication of the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # DM8550034, which I've attached below. You can use WD40 for the lock bar/handle and for the rest you'll want to use White Lithium Grease # L11354 to avoid attracting dirt and debris that could bind up the hitch.

  • What Type of Grease to Use on AKHD-545-35-K Hub and Drum Assembly
The # AKHD-545-35-K come pre-greased, so you shouldn't need to add any grease when installing these. With that being said, if you do need to add some or would like to have some on hand for future maintenance you'll want to use a white lithium multipurpose grease like the LubriMatic LMX # L11390 or the LubriMatic white lithium multipurpose grease # L11354. The LMX red is going to be a little bit more designed to hold up in extreme conditions but the white can be used on a wider variety...

If you live in a salty environment it is recommended to spray the rods every month. I spoke to my contact at Lippert and they told me that The White Lithium Grease # L11354 can be used on the gears, but do not over grease them. Using to much grease will start...

  • Should Curt Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Rollers be Greased
You don't actually want to grease the tubes that the hitch slides along. Technically those tubes are really just guides for the hitch to go along. The actual part you want moving is the rollers going along those tubes. Now you can add a little white lithium grease, like part # L11354, on the shoulder bolts that hold the rollers in place. And I mean a little because it certainly doesn't need much. It's such a small amount that it isn't something Curt even mentions as far as regular...

  • What Components of a B and W Companion Slider Hitch Need to be Lubed
The slider on the B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch like part # BWRVK3400 does not need to be lubed. The saddle, jaws, polyurethane bushings, and coupler surface are the only components that need to be lubed according to the owner's manual. I have attached a photo of this for you as well. In order to lubricate the above components I recommend White Lithium Grease part # L11354. The proper size Lube plate for use with the B and W Companion hitch is a 10 inch diameter...

Yes, Reese Replacement Head # RP58167 will work with your existing 1200 lb Trunnion Bars, # RP66009. This replacement head includes the mounting hardware and serrated washers. It works with balls that have a 1 1/4" shank like # 19286, which is rated for 12,000 lb or # 63840, which is rated for 20,000 lb. The hitch pin of the gooseneck is designed to resist corrosion, but if you are concerned you can always use grease like the LubriMatic White Lithium Grease - 14 oz. cartridge # L11354 to further reduce the direct impact of the elements. This will not change the function of the hitch but may add peace...

  • B&W Companion Pivot Arm Lube Recommendation
It's possible the hitch was lubricated with a non-Lithium based grease but it's also possible it was, and the grease just looks different due to age. I'd recommend using a Lithium based grease like part # L11354 after cleaning off what you've found so far. I'd be shocked if you had an issue going forward actually, especially as you don't see any wear currently. That said B and W no longer offers us the replacement pivot arms or bushings.

This is a multi-purpose white lithium grease that comes in a 14 ounce tube that will fit any standard grease gun. Curt recommends applying a thin layer of grease of the rails that the roller rides against before each trip, and running the hitch fore and aft several times before locking it back in place. One of the biggest culprits that will not allow the latch to go down as far as it originally did is because there is dirt or debris in the mechanism. Also if it is really dry that can effect the latch. I first recommend checking for any signs of excess dirt or anything that would inhibit the latch. This will ensure that the king pin is going in straight. The jaws of a hitch are usually pretty forgiving but can bind up if the king pin is off center too much. 2.
