Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with Etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Curt Secure Latch Lunette Ring. This is a cast-iron ring and channel. That's going to weld onto your trailer to provide that connection for your Pintle Hitch. It does have a weight capacity of 40,000 pounds. So it is going to be very heavy duty.

You do want to make sure that you're not exceeding any of the other components in your towing setup, because just like a chain, you're only as strong as your weakest link when you're towing. So you never want to exceed any of the weight ratings for any of those components. This does have an inner diameter of three inches. So it's going to work great for your two-inch or two and five 16th inch Pintle hooks. It's got an outer diameter of six inches.

The adjustable channel is going to allow you to change the height of your Lunette Ring depending on your application.So if you are using multiple different trucks to pull the same trailer, you can adjust that so that it will sit level. Or if you get a new truck after a few years, if you're one of those people that gets a new truck every couple of years. You can change this from the position that fits your first truck to the position that fits your second and your trailer is still going to work just fine for you. So it's a nice feature to have that adjustability our height for our channel. We're sitting at right about 11 and three quarters of an inch tall.

Our width on the inside, right about two and three quarters of an inch.Turn these around so you see better two and three quarters of an inch there. So it's going to work great for our Lunette Ring that we have installed and potentially other lunette rings. If we want to try and switch those out, depending on your setup, the three bolt pattern of our ring is going to provide maximum height, adjustment. The difference we can flip the ball upside down from the orientation that I have it in now, so that it will sit even lower and we'll have a total height difference of about nine and three quarters of an inch. So riser drop, it's going to give us a lot of adjustability there and it will, our holes here, they are about two inches center to center, between each hole.

So got a lot of adjustability to make sure that we are getting our trailer just the right height.So we're not bottoming out the back or dragging the chains on the front or anything like that. We'll make sure that everything is nice and level. Overall, this is a cast iron construction, like I said, but it is Oz tempered. So it's going to provide much superior strength over some of the other methods of forging. This does have a textured, dark gray Teridium finish, which is going to resist corrosion and it's also going to give it that nice premium look. The pen and hardware that we have here all have a corrosion resistant zinc finish to them. So we're not going to have to worry about rust or anything like that. They're going to stay looking nice and doing the job for a long time. One of the nice add on features that we have here is our lockable pin cover. So this can pivot in, you can use a padlock or anything like that. We want to lock this in place so that no one can come along and hook up to our trailer and take off with it.Then you just unbolt that padlock. You can lift that up, swivel it off to the side there, put your lock back on, and it's going to be out of the way all you're towing. But then as soon as you're done towing, you can simply put it back in place to keep that nice and secure. This does come with a lifetime limited lifetime warranty.
