Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Superchips Flashcal Calibrator. This is going to work for your 2019 and newer Ram 1500s with the 5.7-liter V8 engine.This little calibrator has a lot of functionality to it. It's going to allow you to recalibrate the factory speedometers, so if you get new tires, you can plug that in, recalibrate that speedometer so that you're getting the correct speed with those new tires. It will work for tire upgrades between 25 inches and 42 inches. In addition to that, it's also going to read and clear your diagnostic trouble codes.
So for instance, if your check engine light comes on, you'll be able to see the error that's being pulled up by your system and you can clear that so that the check engine light will go off. So if it's something simple, like your gas cap is loose, you can easily fix that yourself rather than having to take it into the shop to have them take care of that for you. So it'll save you a little bit of money there.You can also adjust your speed and rev limiter settings, so if you want to increase or decrease those from the factory settings, this will allow you to do that. It can also monitor your tire pressure, and log and monitor your performance data in real time. It will also give you the ability to see your battery voltage displayed on the screen here, so if you're wanting to see how fully charged your battery is, and it will give you that option.
This does have a 2.8 inch high-resolution color screen, so, very easy to navigate, get to all those different settings. It is made here in the USA.Now keep in mind, this is not a full tuner, so you're not going to be able to change the tune of your vehicle, but it will allow you to do those things that I've already talked about. All the instructions that you need are included to make sure that you're not only getting this hooked up appropriately, but also getting all those functions for your vehicle.So if you're interested, if you've got new tires, especially different size tires than what came from the factory, I think this is going to be a great option for you. Bought this for my Silverado 2500HD. After I purchased the tuner add on, it significantly increased my horsepower. Its a difference of night and day. I initially had a problem with configuration of the tuner. A couple phone calls to SuperChips tech support and it was fixed with 3 updates. Etrailer and SuperChips customer service is second to none. I will pay more for my purchases just for the peace of mind knowing a company always stands for their customers
