MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100473-15-MBS

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1 Foot Long
  • 1/4 Inch - Male NPT
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator. Also used to connect tanks to a high-pressure regulator to carry gas to a 2-stage regulator. Check valve prevents hazardous backflow leakage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
    • Also used to connect a remote tank to a high-pressure regulator
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male NPT connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 15" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Female Type 1
    • 1/4" Male NPT
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This propane hose is ideal for travel trailers with a split-tank system. This kind of system features 1 cylinder on the driver's side and 1 cylinder on the passenger's side of your trailer. This hose connects the cylinder on the passenger's side to a high-pressure regulator. An additional hose (sold separately) will then carry the propane from the high-pressure regulator to the 2-stage regulator on the driver's side of your trailer.

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

FIVE STARS!!

This pigtail propane
hose was delivered very quickly...and the price and quality is awesome. I was camping with my grandchildren a month ago and called an RV center when I discovered I could not use my propane stove because the onboard hose had a leak in it. Local RV center wanted $30 for the same product.

I'm very happy to have found what I was looking for at etrailer. NOt my first order with them and won't be my last.

A year later and it still works flawlessly. No cracks and rubber still supple. Good buy indeed!

Still working flawlessly. I just left another short review. Not much else to say.

by:

It fits, and it doesn't leak. Replaced a pair that were showing cracking in the outer layer of rubber. What else can you ask for?

by:

These items were supposed to be compatible for my RV but the regulator inlets did not match the propane lines. I made a few trips around town to try to find adaptors, but I finally had to put my old regulator back on. Frustrating.

There can be a few different types of fittings that your regulator uses. I recommend taking a look at the article that we have on common types of RV Propane fittings. You can see it below.

Product was what I expected. The only issue I had was with the Etrailer Price Pledge.Took numerous emails and phone calls to get it straightened out.

Great I like the fact that the hose has a built in back check valve.

by:

This item is extremely important on an RV and is often overlooked! Even a small propane leak can be dangerous. It can even build up inside the propane tank cover. When I used my gas leak detector and found a leak in the tank area, I was surprised that it wasn’t due to a loose connection but was due to small cracks in the hoses. Even hoses that are protected under the cover and only 4 or 5 years old, they need to be checked thoroughly and replaced. Not only does this product incorporate safety features, but they are also made in the USA!

by:

So far so good, hasn't leaked yet. As we all know these propane pigtails are prone to leaking over time, but I think this brand is going to be of decent quality and hold up quite well.

by:

I once again got the wrong hoses…as a matter of fact I got 2 more just like the last 2 that are wrong

I did call Paula and left a message that they were wrong and haven’t heard back yet

I’m not mad, just amazed that I have now gotten 2 orders and they were both wrong

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our customer service team should be reaching out to you in the near future.

by:

I bought this to replace a pigtail on a 2 year old travel trailer that had a slow leak in the swedge next to the tank connection. The factory pigtail was ridgid, soft copper bent easier . This pigtail is very flexible and of course does not leak . I will be buying another to replace the other pigtail even though it does not leak at this time.

by:

Worked good.

by:

I loved the handwheel on this hose. It threaded easily and seated with little effort.
However on the first tank change, the super stiff hose spun on the barb fitting and started leaking around the crimp right away, just like every other hose.
I wish somebody would make a flexible hose that didn't leak at the crimp.

by:

One of the original pigtails was leaking at the tank connection after only 6 months. I decided to replace both of them. They were 12" long and I felt too much strain was placed on the fitting, so I opted for these 15" ones. I'm very happy with the quality of the connections and the flexibility of the hose.

by:

Received the MB Sturgis Propane hose for my travel trailer. High quality hose.
Installed and working great.

by:

Glad I found e-trailer. These lines were just what I needed to replace old cracked lines. I hadn't been able to find the proper length and fittings anywhere else.

by:

i perchased two of these propane connections for my trailer when changeing propane tanks very easy to change tanks out now no more wrenchs to use looks like a high quality product

by:

Arrived on time, and as described.

by:

Works like a dream. Perfect replacement on my 2018 Keystone Springdale travel trailer.

by:

I needed a longer propane hose as I purchased propane tank gauges. These longer hoses were exactly what I needed.

by:

Product was delivered quickly and as described. The etrailer website and team are great. Solid information, easily found.

by:

Very happy with the products I've received. As good as you can get before going high dollar. The company response is awesome with easy ordering and billing. The only shortfall I've found was a delay in shipping due to back order of one item, with no notification to me. My inquiry into this was met with prompt response and service. Thank you.

by:

It’s a propane line. It worked without leaks so… it works!

by:

Great direct replacement for a leaking hose very easy to i stall.

by:

Size options, product quality, and shipping excellent. Will use etrailer in the future.

by:

Don’t think I have ever had a company follow up a year later. A hearty well done !!!! Know who I will be ordering from, thanks.

  • 15" Hose For 100 lb Propane Tank With POL Fitting & 1/4" Male NPT Fitting
We do have an option for you, though the # 100473-15-MBS has a Type 1 fitting one one end and 1/4" Male NPT fitting on the other; the Type 1 fitting does not connect to a 100 lb propane tank, as those tanks have a POL fitting. Though there are no tanks with a Male POL fitting and 1/4" Male NPT fitting, you can use an adapter to get exactly what you need, with the correct parts being the following: - MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose - POL Pigtail x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15"...

  • Can Type 1 Propane Connector be Used for Propane Tank with Threads on Outside
Thank you for the photo! Since your propane tank has the threads on the outside and inside it means that you can use a pigtail with either the POL or Type 1 connection like you're asking about. Swapping over to the Type 1 is a great idea just because it's easier to twist on plus you don't have to mess with any kind of sealant. If your regulator has the adapter on it then I recommend using the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Stainless Overbraid - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15" # 100833-15...
