This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Carrier air conditioner on your RV or camper. The included adapter wiring kit ensures that the AC works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Carrier air distribution box and thermostat. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year Warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Installation went well and unit works okay. BUT, on a hot day in Texas, the compressor would no start. That is when I learned the unit does not have a capacitor to boost start the compressor. Low power in RV Parks is not uncommon. The Advent unit should come with a capacitor installed.

by:

Great unit. Great instructions with photos. Installation was a breeze, once the unit was on the roof (took two people to slide up a long ladder. But was also used to return removed unit to the ground). Connections with the Carrier remote interface were simple plug-&-play. Everything worked on initial start up, and continues to do so. I recommend it, & Etrailer.

by:

I can only speak to the install itself, as this showed up too late last season to get it installed and in use last year. The install was very easy, using the conversion kit that allowed me to keep the Carrier interior components. The only possible concern is the roof seal, which I replaced with a one piece aftermarket. The roof seal installed was a 4 piece and was gapped at the corner coming out of the box and would have leaked. Either swap to a one piece or ensure it's glued up well on the ends that butt and maybe add some silicone to the corners outside to ensure its tight.

by:

Easy installation of replacement of Carrier rooftop unit . Carrier controls were plug and play . Unit not quite as quiet but cooled 31 ft Domani TT to 72 degrees in 105 degree Texas weather.

by:

Took 3 months to receive the ac unit when it finally arrived it did not have the mounting screws, carrier wire harness adapter or the start capacitor with it.. had to deal with constant emailing to get the unit shipped to me ordered on 4/29/22 didn't receive until 7/28/22 and as of today 8/02/22 I still have not received all the missing parts..oh and the box it arrived in was beat to [crap] I recommend going with another company other than etrailer

by:

The package did not work as a direct replacement for my carrier unit as it was advertised. My old unit had two thermistors, one outside and one inside and the Advent only had a inside thermistor. It would run for 20 minutes then kick off and throw a code that the outside thermistor had a fault. I had to buy the inside unit and wall thermostat to get the unit to work. If I had known this at the time of purchase I would have purchased a different unit that had a heat pump like my old Carrier’s. The Advent unit is only cooling to a 15 degree difference from the outside temp which is also disappointing.

by:

Installing was quick and efficient. At first when I hookup up unit on the inside, it was blowing hot air. After purchasing the advent air distribution unit without thermostat, everything runs smoothly. I love my unit. This my first time installing everything. I would buy again, if my second unit goes out. Great replacement for carrier unit.

by:

I would like to thank George for his help when I needed it. In the year using my Advent air conditioner, it has done very well. For a DIY it was a straightforward install, and I only needed someone to help me get it on top of the RV, (in the box as someone suggested). I hope to get many years of service from my Advent air conditioner

by:

The is just what you said it was. Works great! Plug and play as presented. Thank you!!!

Good!!! Very satisfied!

by:

I don't like it. It's as loud as the old one, doesn't cool any better. It really didn't solve my problem. I purchased it as a direct replacement for a Carrier Air-V that was blowing warm air. This one didn't seem to do much better. I wouldn't say its a "direct Replacement" either.

by:

We just got it installed and the weather is to cold to run it but it does work and gets cold now. Don’t know how it will do this summer. Hopefully it will do great

by:

Had no problem replacing this with my old one.

by:

The AC in itself is a little smaller than the one that it replaced and also a little noiser. The install was fairly simple and speedy it 1hour and 10 minutes to get up and running and would have been quicker if the start capacitor would have been installed at the factory, but all n all a simple install.

by:

Doesnt seen to cool any better than the smaller unit it replaced. Was dented in shipment.

by:

Received Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup 15,000 Btu White- ACCAR150 in excellent condition by UPS. Replaced one of my old Carrier Air V air conditioners on my 32' Damon Daybreak motor home. It was easy to install and the conversion kit that came with it worked very well. Quiet even when running on high speed. Used the same remote and ceiling mount I had with my Carrier Air Conditioner.

by:

AIR CONDITIONER ARRIVED IN 3-4 DAYS AS EXPECTED. PACKAGE LOOKED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE. UPS DIDN'T COPY MY NAME OVER TO THE SHIPPING ADDRESS, ONLY THE LOT #. HAD A RV REPAIR PERSON THAT DOES WORK IN THE CAMPGROUND INSTALL IT FOR ME. WE USED A LADDER AND ROPE TO SLIDE IT UP TO THE ROOF OF OUR 2003 CARRIAGE CAMEO 5TH WHEEL. ONE PERSON PUSHING IT UP AND ONE PULLING. IT WORKED VERY WELL. THE NEW ONE BOLTED DOWN AND HOOKED UP JUST LIKE IT SAID IN THE DIRECTIONS. TOOK A LITTLE BIT TO HOOK UP THE ADAPTER CABLES AND INSTALL THE EXTRA CAPCITOR FOR WE WERE REPLACING A CARRIER AIR V MODEL, BUT NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS. TOOK A TOTAL OF ABOUT TWO HOURS FOR TOTAL PROJECT. COULD HAVE DONE IT MYSELF IF I WASN'T HAVING A BACK PROBLEM. SEEMS TO RUN FINE EXCEPT FOR I WISH THE BLOWER WOULDN'T RUN ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR ISN'T RUNNING. MY OLD CARRIER DID THE SAME THING. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THERE IS A WAY TO CHANGE THAT OR NOT. I DIDN'T TAKE ANY PICTURES WHILE INSTALLING IT BUT WILL TRY AND TAKE A PICTURE OF THE NEW ONE INSTALLED.

Seems to be good! i dont use it much in the summer but use it a lot in the winter down south. still would like it to shut off when the compressor isnt running.

Great AC unit cools great and is very q uiet

by:

Product works as advertised hook up was easy with instructions provided. So far so good on the working part of a/c unit. Like it a lot. Customer service was good with one exception with slow getting back to emails sent in with questions.

by:

To be honest I didn’t like how the AC arrived and I think it needs to be more protective around inside the box so it doesn’t get any scratches or dens other than that I love the performance of the AC it works great and was so easy to installed it and just because works great I’m giving 5 stars

by:

Easy to place the order. Item will be used for guard shack on campus. Received tracking updates right up to delivery.

by:

Bought this air conditioner to replace my aged roof top air conditioner on my park model camper. Installation was easy...”just plug and play.” The best feature is it functions with the old air conditioner’s remote avoiding the need to hardwire a thermostat.

by:

We have Carrier AC in our 5th wheel. They no longer make AC units for RV’s. Was very happy to have found Advent. It was an easy fix. Only took our tech not even an hour to replace our old unit with new unit. Only needed the roof piece. Connected easily. We are very happy with it.

by:

It did great for about 3 months, then without warning, it quit coming. The fan kept going. So I turned it off. I called your company and I was told I’d have to get ahold of the manufacturer. I just tried to turn it back on a/c, it started cooling again. For how long? I have no idea.

by:

It had everything to convert from the carrier air V as described. Cools great.

by:

When I first ordered was to her by 9th. Finally received on 25th. Hopefully it works will know in a week.

  • Difference Between 13k and 15k BTU AC Unit for RV, Which is Better
In general you get about 10 percent additional cooling power going from a 13k BTU AC unit to a 15K and most will report that the additional cooling power comes in handy. The price difference typically isn't that much but if you go with a smaller one and then determine it's not enough the price adds up quick buying an additional unit and possibly paying to have old one removed and new one installed. So I'd go with the Advent # ACCAR150 you mentioned.
