6-Pin Connector

This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an old or broken air conditioner on your RV or camper. It has a 6-pin connector for easy plug-and-play installation and it works with your existing Advent Air or Dometic air distribution box. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation easy.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple. Most AC units are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't needed. Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

And in order to fully complete installation, this AC needs to be paired with your existing Advent Air or Dometic air distribution box and thermostat.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories can be purchased separately to improve the performance of your Advent Air AC unit. The start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) improves the performance of your AC by using stored energy to jumpstart it. And the electric heat strip (ACMHD) removes the chill on cold or frosty mornings in your RV, ensuring you stay comfortable. Please note that the heat strip will only work on Advent Air AC units.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), you'll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

AC was easy to install, but will need a replacement cover damaged in transit. Will change to 5 star once cover is replaced.

Awe man, I am sorry about that. It looks like your replacement cover has arrived. Have you had a chance to check out the cover?

by:

I couldn't be more disappointed in this unit. I initially bought as an alternative to a 15k ducted Dometic unit that went bad and quit cooling in my 2018 Heartland Bighorn. The description at the time said it was a direct replacement and was 1/3 the price so I bought it. Like a lot of others, it showed up with a damaged cover. etrailer says they'll ship a new one when they get back in stock so that's no big deal. The issues began when I started the install. I got my old unit off the roof and the new one up. The footprint is considerably smaller so all the old mounting holes fell outside the gaskets area so I had holes to patch in my roof. The cutout size was exact, but there was no center divider to separate the return air from the supply air so I had to make one of those too. I went to hook up the wiring and, lo and behold, the control box wasn't included and wasn't compatible with my Dometic unit and there isn't an adapter available. Back to etrailer to order the control box I needed. Finally figured out how to rewire my camper to match the new box (again, no adapters or instructions are available) and found out my Dometic thermostat isn't compatible with the new control box. Finally sourced one from Amazon since etrailer doesn't sell it and got that installed a few days ago. Turned everything back on and it started to run. Checked all 3 fan speeds and everything seemed to be working good. It was 87 in the camper after sitting in the Spring sun of South Carolina all day. Let it run on high for an hour and a half and went back out to check on things. It had only dropped to 84 degrees! It's not even remotely hot outside yet. The air was coming out cool, just very little volume. If this is how it's going to be this thing is getting ripped back off and I'll bite the bullet and buy a Dometic again.

Long story summed up - compatible doesn't mean anything and upgrade is a complete lie. This is the first time I've truly been let down by etrailer.

I am surprised that the install was so complicated. I wanted to ask if your Dometic AC unit had the control box built into the unit?

by:

My Advent AC is still working great so far. Installation was very easy. Cools better than the old loud Dometic that it replaced.

by:

Four stars because the AC unit seems to be good. Etrailer has great service when you order, and my AC was delivered on time. Technical assistance is, however, non-existent at etrailer. I installed the AC correctly and found the compressor was not coming on when I turned the unit on. That's a big problem for an AC, but they couldn't help and referred me to the company that makes the AC. I called them. The manufacturer rep wanted me to buy more new parts from etrailer and hoped one of them would fix the problem. Beyond that, they were not much help either. In the end, with help from a neighbor who is an actual HVAC technician I got the problem fixed and it was not what the manufacturer rep said they thought it might be. (Yes, I know I have not told you what the actual problem was.) Bottom line is etrailer sells AC units for a good price, but find your own technical assistance.

by:

No instructions were included in box. Had to watch online video for installation directions. Delivered with two dents in lower pan. Assumed these were just cosmetic, but now I am questioning if I received a unit that had been returned as defective. After installation, the unit ran non stop for four hours, but did not appear to be effectively cooling trailer.

Will be calling on Monday for remedy. Very frustrated.

Works great so far (about 6 hours) installation was a breeze. Replaced a 'o7ish dometics that took a dump. 10 Philips screws to pull the shroud off, 6 Philips screws inside to remove the cover off the duct box. 4 bolts to mount the old unit. Unplugged the old unit from the controll box. Did everything in reverse with the new one. The entire install took about 10 minutes. Actually took longer to figure out how to get the unit from the ground to the roof.

(I will update this in a month, or when this one takes a dump, whichever comes first. We live in Florida so if it's gonna fail from quality, it won't take that long)

by:

Very easy install, I added this unit into my 3202 bh trailer as my second unit in master bedroom, install was quick and easy shipping was swift 2 or 3 days, will definitely buy another to replace factory installed

by:

Got AC but since air distribution box will not arrive until after September 30th I won’t be able to install AC so I won’t be installing AC unit until early October…. Should be cooler by then too.

by:

I let it sit right side up for 3 weeks before installing it. Had to retape the rivnuts that were over thightend. The AC works great alot better than the demetic that came on the camper. We have two this one cools the whole camper by itself. Great replacement for what comes from the manufacturer. Highly recommend as a replacement Ac.

by:

When I ordered this AC unit I asked if it was a plugin and gonor if any adapters were needed. Was told nothing else was needed. Went to install it and guess what- yep wire harness plugs were different. Called again and talked to someone different and was told an adapter was needed but out of stock. On order but no delivery until August. Options - send it back or try to find the adapter on my own. VERRRRY UPSET!!!

by:

It was not plug and play,we got it working and it seems to be ok.

by:

I ordered the unit for ceiling vent discharge, installed it and the discharge was out the vents, I called support and explained to them that I needed ceiling vent discharge so I ordered there recomendation which was actually was same kit that I had. Long story short not really happy, now I have a new unit that has massive duct tape to attempt to make it discharge through ceiling vents. The unit in its present configeration does not cool very well so I am not happy. Wish I had purchased the same that was in travel trailer. Sorry for the 3 star, I attempted to leave the all blank,

by:

This was probably the easiest emergency replacement I've ever had on my RV. It was incredibly easy to find a model that exactly fit my RV, and when I realized I needed the wire adapter, the overnight option saved me!

Fantastic and fast. Thank you!!

by:

Installing was fairly easy, but was not happy about how loud it is,much louder then the video I watched. I'm trying to cool an area of 120 Sq Ft , 75 is the coolest I can get at table height and 85 degrees outside. I'm disappointed with this unit.

by:

Great purchase! Everything worked just like it should have. Installed in under a hour by myself on my 2000 Sportmen. Thanks for the help ETrailer.

by:

by:

Just what I needed for my 1988 Winnebago RV. Super easy to install Plug and Play, I had it installed in about 30 minutes.

by:
