This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Customer service was great! There was a slight delay in shipping all the parts (due to an internal issue), but I was kept informed & everything arrived as ordered. I would recommend this company & this product.

Works like a charm!

The A/C unit worked great, the install and hard start kit were easy.
Problem i have is the compressor locked up about a month ago while on a trip, $[XX] later have a coleman mock 3 now. An emergency buy to keep cool.

by:

Love the product, easy installation for a beginner like me.

by:

Overall an excellent purchase. Delivery was quick. Installation was relatively easy but I was just replacing an existing unit. The only issues might be no description on where to route the wire, which side the unit is wired on and it doesn’t cool as well as I had expected it would.

by:

Mounted it to my race trailer. It has run a lot this past year and has been great. The only issue I have had with it, is it tends to ice up on humid days when it has been running for 12 plus hours. Other than that it has been a life saver on those miserable, humid, hot days at the track.
I also have the optional heat which has also been nice to knock off the chill in the trailer on those cold mornings.

by:

works great. installed very easy. I only give 4 stars because it was delivered with a dent in the bottom frame. most likely done be ups. Better packaging to protect unit needed. most definitely would buy again from suppler . Outstanding price.

by:

Havent gotten a chance to really put it to use yet but its very light and easy to install

by:

Has no thermostat to set temperature. You can only turn on and off. Runs and blows constantly. Not happy with that.

Thank you for your review. The air distribution box does include a thermostat that ranges from 65 F to 90 F 16 C to 30 C. The thermostat may not be working properly if your AC runs constantly, this unit does have a 2 year warranty.

by:

The air conditioner that we ordered arrived in excellent shape and a week early. I have ordered 6 things from etrialer all have arrived ahead of time and in excellent condition.

by:

Unit was out of stock when I ordered but they beat the original delivery date by 4 days. It was in good shape and works great. Company always does it’s best and that’s not always the case.

by:

I really like these units, they seem to weigh less the the competition and are very affordable. I also like the three fan speeds instead of two from the competition.

by:

Just got ac going to put in next week. Everything looks ok

We have a 14' cargo trailer conversion. It is a beautiful, insulated camper my son and I built and I was loathe to cut a hole in the one-piece aluminum roof. I tried a portable AC unit with the drier-type vent; it didn't work at all. I then converted a window AC unit to work from inside the camper with appropriate duct work; it also did not work worth a hoot. Meanwhile, my wife and I were sweating our tails off. I finally broke down and bought this roof-mounted RV AC unit. It was time to cut a hole in that beautiful one-piece roof!

As I recall, the directions were fairly easy to understand and follow. I cut the hole in the ceiling, ran a 20 amp circuit from my panel, and did a frame build to reinforce the roof for strength. I used 3/4" pressure-treated plywood to build the box between the roof and ceiling, and 3/4" finished plywood to create the cross-supports, which I attached to the metal frame from the inside of the camper with large sheet metal screws because there wasn't room between the ceiling and roof to work. I then built up the area on the ceiling to match the cross-supports for the inside component to attach to. I have attached a picture.

The results? This AC rocks! It can be 100+ degrees in our humid, NE Texas summer, and I can go out and turn this thing on, and in minutes you can feel a big difference. Within an hour, it's too cold on high! My only complaint is that when you turn up the temp setting, the fan still runs after the compressor shuts off. This jacks up the humidity considerably. We keep a dehumidifier running and that helps a lot. I haven't had the time to look into whether it's possible to convert this thing to a thermostat controlled unit; if it is, I'll probably do that so the unit will shut off altogether when the desired temp is reached. Other than that, I can't recommend this unit highly enough! Also, etrailers was great to order from - I highly recommend them, as well.

by:

Overall I'm happy with the unit. Installation was pretty straight forward double checking our progress along the way. Upon connection to power the GFCI tripped, this resulted into triage finding one wire penetrated by a screw from the junction cover. Start to finish with removal of the old roof vent and quite a bit of conversation was six hours.

One small discrepancy which was welcomed is the directions for the rooftop unit specify a 2.5" - 5" roof but further provide ducting instructions for 1"-2" roofs. I had purchased plywood anticipating the need for a spacer but happily skipped it.

Originally shipped unit was damaged in transit and etrailer made that whole exchange quick and easy, I was actually quite impressed.

by:

The a/c is working great but ups can not deliver a package without messing it up the unit was dented pretty bad on one side I had to do some extra work but it is in and cooling great I would buy another one and ask to send it some other way

by:

shipped super fast...easy install (mechanical knowledge highly recommended)...however, the ductwork from the rooftop unit to the ceiling unit only built for 2-4 inch thick roofs.(duct is perforated to shorten if needed but in my case, i have a forest river work-n-play with a 4.5 inch thick roof. therefore i had to play tin knocker and fabricat an extension to connect the ducts.
otherwise, installation was as i expected. heat strip and start capacitor installed with ease and very well illustrated instructions.
people complain of the heat strip not heating their unit. it wasn't designed to heat the unit, just take the chill out or supplement the furnace which then works nicely to heat the cabin quickly.
i have yet to put it to the test this summer (2023) at the racetrack for about 4 days each month between april and october...

by:

YOU SENT ME RETURNED LABELS AND I RETURNED THEM AND YOU SENT ME A 3RD UNIT AND IT'S ALSO DAMAGED TOO I EMAILED THIS COMPANY ABOUT 4 TIMES FOR A RETURN LABEL TO SEND BACK AND GET A REFUND BUT NO RESPONSE I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GOT THE OTHER UNITS BACK BECAUSE YOU WONT'T RESPOND TO MY EMAILS
