Is this right For you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:
Yes, if you:
Are adding an AC as a backup for extra cooling power or as a new feature in a trailer that didn't have it before
Boondock frequently and use a generator that might struggle to start up the AC without a capacitor
Often stay in really hot or humid places and need something to keep up with the heat
No, if you:
Sometimes get chilly and need a little heat to stay out on the road longer into the season
Have a hard time reaching to the ceiling to change settings
Only have a 30 amp service RV and want to use this as a 2nd unit - you might be better off with less power
Ductless AC unit lets you replace an existing AC or add a new AC to your RV. Air distribution box has a built-in thermostat to control the fan and temperature. This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.
Air Distribution Box and Thermostat
The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.
Start Capacitor
If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.
Simple Installation
Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.
On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.
To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.
Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

I purchased the 15,000 btu model
Shipping was fast the unit works fantastic installation was pretty easy my trailer was preset up,you definitely need the hard start capacitor as my 4500 watt generator starts it but wouldn’t without it I also purchased the heater strip that is all the pros the only con is the 2 knobs that control pop off once in a while so I glued them on definitely would purchase again

etrailer.com did they job delivering it on time, good packaging and working properly.
This equipment does a good job, in the trailer is always way cooler than outside, but I still wish the AC Unit was a little more powerful. I won’t complain though, it was definitely a cheaper equipment. I could have spent a lot more in a different unit.

Keeps the horse trailer really cold during the 100 plus degree summer, Only thing is when it rains it leaks but that could have also been user error when installing it. We had to replace our old AC since it quit working on us and this one is doing the job really well.

Received product on the day promised. Product had a little damage from shipping. Don't think it will affect the ac working properly. Haven't installed yet. Planning on it this weekend. Will follow-up. Ac seems to be better made and heavier duty than the original.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners
Hello .. My first unit came damaged ref # 111032829. I contacted Matt who helped me out. However the replacement unit took several weeks to arrive part was back ordered . I am sure the unit was damaged before it was put into the box as the outside of the box showed no damage . Ps the main frame was bent and a portion of the copper tube on the evaporator as damaged, unit is not repairable . Anyway the new unit was delivered yesterday and it came with FRAGLE STICKERS on the box good idea . I am very please with getting the replacement unit .. I have to say the people I talked with at etrailer we very helpful and I will purchase from them again ...

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners
I'm planning on using my trailer as a workshop so heat and AC were important. This AC unit was easy to install into the existing 14x14 vent. Took me about an hour to install and everything went smoothly. My trailer is 28 ft long so I'm thinking that I'll be needing a 2nd unit at the far end. I'll decide that after I'm finished insulating the walls. I've already put in 2 inches of rigid foam on the roof and that alone made a huge difference.

AC works well but I recently upgraded this unit to the remote thermostat so that I would have more precise temperature control. Upgrading was easy just bought the part from etrailer and installed. I definitely do need a 2nd unit which I hope to do soon.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners
Well, it just doesn't move much air. I own several other rooftop A/C unites in my trailers. All of them move more air than this one. I do like that is draws very low amperage which save generator life an fuel, but it simply does not cool as well as others I own. Aside from that issue, install was very simple, arrive on time, and is easy to operate.

Review from a similar Advent Air AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners
My husband installed this as a second air conditioner in our 5th wheel. Installation took a little longer than expected due to getting the inside template to line up with the main unit. Also, it is pretty noisy on medium and high; however, that doesn’t bother us as we like to sleep with “white noise”. Overall, it cools well and is a fairly straightforward installation with minor adjustments needed. If you are mechanically inclined, installation should not be an issue.

Great question. We do have the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 with the interior components. It is part # ACM150C and it also includes the start capacitor. That capacitor is extremely helpful in making sure you can start your AC even when the shore power isn't able to draw that capacity. The capacitor will automatically refill to ensure you never have an issue starting your AC. The vent assembly has a built in thermostat to control fan settings and temperature.

We do offer a direct replacement for the Dometic Duo-Therm RV Air Conditioner. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 for 13.5K or part # ACM150 for 15K is what I recommend. This unit will be a plug and play fit and it will work with your existing thermostat. If you replace the thermostat you're looking at an entire new system and this will require wiring so unless yours no longer works I recommend keeping it.
The complete system is part # ACM135C for 13.5K or part # ACM150C... view full answer...
Yes. The white version of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - Black # ACM150BC is part number # ACM150C. This is the exact same unit you were looking at, which is a non-ducted unit, only white in color to match your RV. view full answer...
Since the trailer you are getting has the opening, brace, and wiring ready to go all the hard stuff will have already been done! I don't think you will have any problem installing AC unit # ACM150C yourself. It pretty much just bolts on. Two people are recommended for installation; one inside and one outside, to make sure it is lined up properly, but other than that there isn't anything special that needs to be done. view full answer...
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM150C installs into a 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide roof opening. If you remove the skylight and the opening is smaller than 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" you can carefully cut the opening to make it larger, however it is recommended to install the unit slightly forward of the center of the center of the roof and centered from side to side. I have attached diagrams from the installation instructions for your reference. view full answer...
To cool down your 26 foot enclosed trailer I highly recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150C, which includes both the air distribution box and a start capacitor as well. The start capacitor in particular is a great feature that basically stores up energy to use for when the AC kicks on, conserving energy and reducing the amount of power needed from your batteries or inverter.
The AC unit uses a 6-blade fan with motor to increase/decrease airflow, a built-in thermostat that... view full answer...
Based on the square footage of your 28 foot utility trailer the minimum BTU rating you'd need from an AC unit would be 4,760. So the Advent 15k BTU unit part # ACM150C would easily handle cooling your trailer. There'd be no need to add a second unit.
To determine how much BTU is needed for a trailer you take the square footage and multiply it by 20 btu and that's the minimum needed. view full answer...
The model number you list is for the Carrier Air V, it is no longer produced. We do not have the replacement part you request available.
If you want to consider replacing the entire unit, I suggest the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor, 15,000 Btu, # ACM150C. This is a complete set-up with a start capacitor that allows for easier start ups and assists with generator starts while boondocking. view full answer...
I recommend replacing your Carrier air conditioner with the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor # ACM150C. Since Carrier moved away from RV air conditioners they no longer produce replacement parts and its best to replace everything at once then trying to mix and match parts. We do not have a direct replacement for your air distribution box. view full answer...

There is an option for a 15,000 Btu ductless RV air conditioner that does not have a wall-mounted thermostat, though there aren't any with a wireless thermostat. What you can use is an option from Advent, which has the thermostat directly on the distribution box so you don't have to use one mounted on your wall. This is available in either white or black:

With no ceiling assembly on your 2017 Forest River Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite Travel Trailer RV, it sounds like you might have a ducted system.
The Advent AC unit part # ACDOM150 that you referenced will work great as a replacement for a Dometic Duo Therm unit that you have and can actually be used as a ducted or non-ducted unit since this is just the vent assembly. The ceiling assembly, which is not included, is really what determines a ducted or non-ducted setup. If you had a ceiling... view full answer...
Since you don't currently have and AC unit, I recommend the Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Ceiling Vent and Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - White # ACM150C. This will give you the ability to cool your race trailer faster and won't have the big power draw at start due the integrated capacitor.
The Advent Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner - 13,500 Btu - Non-Ducted - White # ACM135CH will also work well for you. view full answer...
AC unit BTU ratings typically call for 20 BTU per square foot. So for a trailer that is 32 foot long and most likely 8 feet wide you'd have 256 square feet to cool. That means you'd need a minimum of 5,120 BTU to cool it effectively. So the 15k BTU Advent # ACM150C that you mentioned would be way more than you'd need but it would cool the trailer very quickly.
Another option is the 13.5k Advent part # ACM135CH which comes with a vent box, a heat strip (provides heat if needed), and a start... view full answer...
We can get you the air conditioning you need to keep cool in your enclosed car trailer; what you will need is a ductless AC unit with a distribution box that will control the unit as well as blow the air in, as well as a generator for a power source (if you don't have one).
I highly recommend going with a 15,000 Btu AC because of its additional cooling power which will cool your trailer down quicker, especially with a 24 foot trailer, though I will list the options for both the 13,500... view full answer...

In order to find out if there is a replacement air conditioner that will allow you to use your existing Coleman Mach El wiring and distribution box you need to know what model it is.

For non-ducted AC applications you need to use a roof vent setup like the air distribution box part # ACRG15 that you referenced with the unit itself like part # ACCAR150. Or we have this setup as a kit with part # ACM150C which is the AC unit and the roof vent. view full answer...
That's a good question and realistically, one of the 15,000 or 15,500 BTU air conditioners may be enough to meet your needs, it just depends on different factors, such as how much time you are spending in the trailer, the temperature outside and if any part of the trailer is going to be open for any period of time (I know some of these trailers have side doors as well).

AC units like the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner with Ceiling Vent # ACM150C draw quite a bit of current. For example this one draws 1,750 watts at 115 volts.
