Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Dometic Penguin II 15,000 BTU, high capacity black RV air conditioner with heat pump. This air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin II air conditioner to your RV or camper. This ultra low profile design is going to minimize wind resistance to improve fuel efficiency and overhead clearance. This 15,000 BTU per hour air conditioner will quickly and efficiently cool the inside of your RV or camper.
This is going to be compatible with ducted or ductless systems. And I do wanna point out that a manual air distribution box is going to be required for this. That is going to be sold separately from this unit. And this is designed for motor homes and travel trailers and fifth wheel campers. But I do wanna let you know that this has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers or off-roading vehicles, because typically, those roofs are not built with enough support to handle the weight of an air conditioner system.
Or there's too much flex that it could potentially damage an air conditioning system as you travel. So just so you're aware of that. This is going to be a bolt-on installation. However, the hardware is not included with this, and this is going to fit roofs from one and a half inches to six inches thick with an opening size of a 14 and a quarter inches long by 14 and a quarter inches wide. And looking at the overall measurements of this unit, measuring the length first from end to end, we're sitting at about 40 and a half inches long.
And then the width, again, measuring end to end, about 29 inches wide. Then the height, about 11 and a quarter inches tall, and this weighs slightly under 100 pounds. Now I went ahead and removed the screws that secure this cover to this unit, and just so I can more quickly and easily remove the cover. So let me go ahead and begin with a lower angle here first. And I'm gonna go ahead and remove the cover.
And I wanna give you a view of the inside. So let me set this cover off to the side here, carefully down, and then let me go ahead and just kind of rotate this here on my table so you get a good view from that angle of the inside of this unit. And so this air conditioner features a high performance motor and fan that's going to provide sufficient air flow. I'm gonna go ahead and give you an overhead view there as well. And the enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV to eliminate hotspots. The internal heat pump is perfect for cooler weather. As you know, it's gonna send that warm air into your RV and pump that chilled air out to the outside. So this does include an internal heat pump. The quiet operation is going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than your traditional air conditioning units. And the efficient design is going to require less refrigerant than traditional air conditioner units. It's gonna help reduce operational costs. And the refrigerant that this has is the R-410A refrigerant. The foam seals are going to help prevent heat transfer, and then giving you another look there from the lower angle, I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover here, but I did wanna point out that our cover is a hard plastic cover. So this is going to do a great job of protecting the internal components from debris, dirt, water, things like that. It's gonna hold up really well, I think, to the elements it's going to be constantly exposed to. And as you can see, it's very easy to remove and replace. All you have to do is loosen and remove the four Phillips head screws, and then you can take that cover off and do some cleaning, do some maintenance. Then when you're done, you see how easy that cover pops back on, replace the screws, tighten 'em down, and you will be good to go. Now this does feature a rib base pan that's going to provide stability and reduce vibration. There are foam pads underneath. And then I did wanna show you the wiring harness here, see if I can bring that out there to show you. So the wiring harness is included with this unit. And we do also offer this air conditioner with a white cover. Everything else will be the same except instead of the black cover, it'll be a white cover. So if you're more interested in the white version over this version, we do have that option available here at etrailer.com. And this has been UL certified. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Etrailer gives very good service. Fast shipping also. A/C unit arrived without any sign of damage. At unboxing to install, I found the fan squirrel cage jammed up against the plastic shroud on the evaporator end. At further inspection the fan motor mounting bolts were so loose they had about 1/4” slip. I had to align up the motor an torque down t bolts. Then adjust the squirrel cages on both the condenser and evaporator end ends. An allen set screw holds them to the motor shaft. Very small tolerance for movement on shaft to avoid fan rubbing shroud. I’ve read reviews on this unit that state these issues. Quality control is lacking in assembly. Shouldn’t have to fix a brand new unit. Pretty sure warranty doesn’t cover “ adjustments”. This review doesn’t reflect badly on Etrailer but it does on Dometic. Installation completed and it’s cooling as it should. Hope it continues to. Glad I can do stuff without paying a couple hundred bucks an hour to someone.
Overall the A/C unit works good. etrailer was great to work with and shipping was faster than expected. However, Dometic could use some QA and QI within their company. The blower motor on this unit was not completely bolted down and the fans where loose on the shafts. At first, the blower motor would not even turn the fans due to binding against the housings. If you are going to install a unit like this, please check before start up. Other than that, the unit cools/heats and only pulls 14 amps.
Entire order process was smooth. Received our order exactly when they said we would. eTrailer is ALWAYS very knowledgeable and helpful to insure you get the part you are asking for. Our customer was happy and so were we!
