Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Dometic Penguin II 13,500 BTU white RV air conditioner. Now, this air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin II air conditioner to your RV or camper. The ultra low profile design is gonna help minimize wind resistance to improve your fuel efficiency and overhead clearance. This is a 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner, so this is gonna do a good job of quickly and efficiently cooling down the inside of your RV or camper. This will be compatible with your ducted or ductless systems, and this is designed for motor homes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels.
I do wanna point out, however, that this has not been approved for school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles because typically those roofs are not built with the support needed to handle the weight of an air conditioner system, or there might be too much flex in those roofs that could potentially damage the air conditioner unit while you're going down the road. This will be a bolt-on installation. This does not include the hardware to install this, so that is something you would have to pick up separately if you do not already have it. And this will require a manual air distribution box, which is also sold separately. But if you check the related products section on this product page, we do have some options there for you.
This is going to fit roofs from 1-1/2 inches to 6 inches thick with an opening size of 14-1/4 inches long by 14-1/4 inches wide. Just to give you some overall measurements, looking at the length first from end to end, I came up with about 40-1/2 inches long. Looking at the width from end to end, we're about 28 or so inches wide. Then the height is right at 11-1/4 inches tall. This weighs a little over 92 pounds overall.
And I went ahead and removed the Phillips head screws that secure the cover to this air conditioner so I could more quickly and easily remove it so I could give you a view of the inside. So let me go ahead and set this to the side and give you a brief view of the inside of this unit. So let me go ahead and turn this so you can see the other side. Now, this air conditioner does feature a high performance motor and fan that will provide sufficient airflow. The enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV or camper to eliminate hotspots.
Here's an overhead view here as well, and this has a pretty quiet operation, so that's going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than your traditional air conditioner units. The efficient design is going to require less refrigerant than your traditional air conditioner units reducing operational costs. This does use the refrigerant of R-410A. And these foam seals that you see here are going to prevent heat transfer. So going back to my wider view here, I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover. By the way, this cover is constructed of hard plastic, so I think it's gonna hold up real well for you. I think it's gonna do a great job of protecting the inside from water and debris, and I don't think it's gonna fracture easily. Some air conditioner units that I've dealt with in the past, some of them can have a flimsy cover. This one doesn't feel flimsy. It feels like it's gonna hold up really well for you. As you can see, it's very easy to remove. You'll just go ahead, let me give you a lower angle here, you'll just go ahead and remove the Phillips head screws. There's gonna be four of them, and then you remove the screws, pop that cover off if you need to do any maintenance or cleaning and then that cover is gonna pop right back on. You replace the screws and you can go on down the road. Now, this does feature a metal ribbed base pan that's going to give you stability and reduce vibration. There's also pads here. You probably saw a few of them here, and those pads are gonna sit in between the roof of your RV and the air conditioner. So that's gonna be further protection, support, and insulation. This is UL certified. It does include the wiring harness. It's gonna be stacked up here at the front here, the bottom of the front. Let me see if I can give you a view of that. So that is the harness that's included with this. So that'll be tucked away up underneath there. But I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
