This Furrion Chill AC system lets you replace an existing 2-zone setup or add a new setup if your RV or camper doesn't already have one. It includes all of the components necessary to individually adjust the temperature in 2 separate zones inside your RV.

Air Conditioner

Furrion

The air conditioners have two fans, each with their own motor, to help move cool air faster and more efficiently inside your RV on a hot and muggy day. They also have built-in start capacitors that use stored energy to give an extra boost of power to help jump-start your units when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power. Integrated rubber dampeners on the compressors reduce vibration and allow your AC units to run quietly.

Multi Zone Controller

Furrion Multi Zone Controller

The 2 multi zone controllers allow you to individually set the temperature of 2 different zones in your RV. You can keep your main living space at a brisk 68 degrees when coming in from the outside heat, while also having your bedroom at a cozy and comfortable 72 degrees. Each zone requires 1 of these multi zone controllers, as well as an air conditioner and an air distribution box. The multi zone controllers have convenient, built-in temperature sensors that communicate with the included multi zone wall thermostat. They also feature short-cycle protection so that your air conditioner won't cycle off prematurely, ensuring your designated zones have reached their temperature set-points.

Air Distribution Box

Furrion Air Distribution Box

The air distribution boxes accommodate ducted or ductless systems. They feature 2 slotted registers to maximize airflow in your RV. The registers can be closed to divert more air to the ducts in a ducted system.

Multi Zone Wall Thermostat

Furrion Multi Zone Wall Thermostat

The multi zone wall thermostat has 5 different operating modes and multiple settings to ensure optimal comfort throughout your RV or camper.

Auto Mode: Allows the system to automatically change between cool mode and heat mode based on the room temperature. When the room temperature reaches 77 degrees F, the system will operate in cool mode. When the room temperature drops below 68 degrees F, the system will operate in heat mode (only when furnace is enabled).

Cool Mode: Cycles the compressor on and off based on the room temperature and the temperature set-point. When the compressor is running, the fan will be turned on to either low, medium, high, or auto. On auto fan, the fan speed varies depending on the difference between the temperature set-point and room temperature.

Fan Speed

Heat Mode (only when furnace is enabled): Cycles the compressor on and off based on the room temperature and the temperature set-point. When the compressor is running, the fan will be turned on to either low, medium, high, or auto. The fan speed selection only applies to the fan speed on the air conditioner and not the fan speed of the furnace.

Fan Mode: Operates continuously at low, medium, or high speed.

Dry Mode: Runs the compressor continuously when the room temperature is higher than the temperature set-point. When the room temperature is lower than the temperature set-point, the compressor cycles on for 10 minutes and off for 6 minutes to maintain your desired temperature. The fan speed runs continuously at low speed.

Program Setting: Offers 2 program timers that allow each AC unit to automatically adjust mode and fan speed at designated times. You can adjust to cool mode with a high fan speed during the heat of the day, or to fan mode with a low fan speed in the evening.

Zone Setting: Allows you to adjust the operation of the system in one particular zone. Depending on the layout of your unit, you can set one air conditioner (zone 1) at a cool 68 degrees, and the other air conditioner (zone 2) at 72 degrees.

Sleep Setting: Automatically increases your temperature set-point 2 degrees every hour up to 2 hours. After 2 hours, the fan is set to low speed. This allows your unit to use less power overnight and reduces noise while you sleep.

Reputation and reviews said these were good replacements for the two Dometics on our 1998 Foretravel. They were not dead, but were 24 years old.

Important note for some shoppers - the Furrion controllers are compatible with an Aqua Hot. The call for heat wire typically has a +12VDC which is grounded to activate the blower. My coach was apparently unusual - it has a relay near the Aqua Hot that grounds the wire. I ran the 12 volt power for the AC controller through the AC controller through the brown "furnace" wires and then to the "call for heat" wire. Works great.

Another issue - the interior grill is just a bit thicker than the old Dometic one, and it blocked the top of a closet door. I drilled a couple of holes and used the old Dometic grill - everything lines up fine for air handling.

I love the new thermostat - big display, backlit, easy to use.

Too cold here for a good workout of the ACs, but I am confident.

etrailer is a great company. I have done business with them for ages!

One year later,
I love my dual Furrion
Chill 15,500 Btu A/C. The conns are few (0). The Pro’s : easy install, quite, dual zone capability are just few of their great qualities. The best feature I like most is the “dry mode”. I’m this mode it works like a dehumidifier. I use this mode when running on generator, at night or just need to remove some humidity. Which in its self will drop the inside temp of the rig +10 degs. Highly recommend if looking to replace, upgrade, or new install. The Furrion A/C line are a great choice. I’m a real consumer. This is not a promo review.

Just installed, works great. Quieter than my last a/c and mounted flusher to the ceiling.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Ac cooling works super well - Quieter than the stock colman unit, but that does not mean its very quiet, the 14x14” roof top opening limitation just does not allow for quiet cooling :( and that is no fault of this unit. Issues: The all metal mounting plate was great in dry AZ but in Florida humidity has been a real problem, with our very poorly insulated racetrack ducting (thanks for the absolute crap work Thor!!!!) cooling the Al frame around the 14x14” hole way too much causing the metal to sweat (condense water) right onto our bed - solution is to use 1/8” neoprene stick on insulation (see black in picture) all over every bit of exposed metal to stop the condensation since i can’t fix the racetrack without destroying the roof or ceiling - we used 1” foam (purple in picture) on the frame of the 14x14” opening and 1/8” neoprene on the supplied metal frame (plenum) - in hindsight i would use the neoprene everywhere. Second & third issue are short cycling and falsely thinking room is cold - these are due to poor Furrion design choices!!! This we found was due to the air temp sensor being designed into the ceiling unit vs in the wall mount thermostat, its quick to register temperature changes and our race track (as i think all are) does not have a set of one way flaps, so the other ac unit’s cold air makes its way backwards through this units air out port into this units air intake and thus makes that area very cold when this unit is off while the other unit is on, which in turn prevents this unit from engaging! (An issue only because both my units are sharing the RV’s racetrack air ducting system) However because this unit is in a tiny bedroom area the temp sensor cools itself too quickly (again, Its in the air intake port) this is odd as we don't use the dump ports, they are custom blocked off to force 100% of the cold air to the race track away from the unit, regardless the intake air gets cold in 45 seconds and shuts the compressor off way too soon so short cycles the unit (less than a minute on time!!!!) I seem to have fixed this by insulating the very short wire of the thermistor and pushing the thermistor tip through one layer of the decorative cover (you have to drill a hole, keep the hole very small and ideally insulate it) - this forces it to be in the dump ports output stream “space”, which in my race track only install means its room temp as the feed to the dump port is TOTALLY sealed off so is the best representatives of room temp up by the unit (even better than when i had the thermistor go all the way through the decorative cover into the room) All in all the unit is good and the issues are mostly due to Thor’s crap race track insulation (or lack of) but having the thermostat have its own temp sensor would be much better to avoid short cycling (wish i could convert to do so while keeping the nice thermostat look and a 1 degree tolerance). Finally the units outside cover was broken in shipping (as i was expecting from reading other reviews) but etrailer made that right no grief what so ever. Definitely etrailer keeps impressing, follow service up is proactive and great! Wish someone made a unit that was dc inverter based to have no inrush issues - i have soft starts but that is still far from the goodness of a minsplit like inverter based dc compressor that gets a true soft start and variable speed power savings!

This review is not about the product as I haven't been able to install it yet, but more about etrailer Customer Service. We have had multiple issues concerning the product arriving damaged. Customer service has gone above and beyond to assist. I can't say enough good things about them. The delivery company on the other hand well, I will just leave it there. Thanks etrailer!

Comments
Product works great, much quieter than the factory installed ones. Use this in the front bedroom and use it as the primary with the original as backup. Definitely recommend this unit.Customer service was far beyond expectations.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

So, I was going to wait to leave a review until I resolved issues with etrailer but there is no reason to wait. Why you ask…because this unit is cheaply made and utterly useless. First, as others have experienced, mine arrived with a broken lid. Second, it doesn't cool worth a D! I “upgraded” from a 13,500 BTU unit to this 15,500 unit and it literally cant keep up with anything. The air distribution box so severely restricts air flow it feels like nothing is coming out. I’ll be pressing for a FULL refund and return on this unit. Totally and utterly USELESS! DON’T BUY!

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

The furrion ac has an internal temperature sensor that does not match the actual temperature of the motor home. So the compressor cuts off and on and the temperature on the thermostat has to be set at the lowest temperature to cool the camper. Bought a kit to move the temperature sensor by the thermostat and now we get a true reading of the temperature. Would not have bought the furrion if I had been aware of the temperature sensor location.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

The A/C works fine. It is in a Chevy Express Van converted for travel and camping. We live in Florida. When it's hot, like all summer, the unit cools down quickly but once it reaches the set temperature it shuts off, then back on at the upper set temp. between the two temps it quickly becomes uncomfortably warm before the compressor kicks on again. when it kicks on it's very loud making sleep difficult. I'm not sure if I should have gotten a smaller unit which could run continuously or not.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

We are very happy with this ac unit. We use our camper to travel with dogs and because this draws less power we are able to use our small Honda generator to keep it running if needed. The ac unit is quite and does a great job of cooling. Would buy another if needed

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I just want to follow up with my order.

1.
The product is fantastic. It is quiet and cools super-fast. I am glad I
purchased this unit to replace a non-functioning Dometic unit.
2. The installation documentation needs to be better, especially for a
replacement install. The video is okay, but it shows it in a new install
with the walls and ceiling removed. The wiring comes in two sets (one for
replacement and the second set for a second new unit install) and wasn't
clear as to which set to use.. I also installed a new Furrion thermostat and
had to connect a furnace too. Thankfully I had a friend that installs AC
units and we figured it out. It worked great once we got it figured out.

3. The biggest disappointment involves the only negative reviews I read on
this unit. The package of this unit is not good. I am enclosing pictures of
the top case of the unit. All the connectors were snapped off except for the
four front ones (where there is extra cardboard packaging). We discovered
they were broken when taking it out of the box and before we moved the unto
to the rood as we wanted the cover off so it wouldn't get damaged. Too bad
it already was.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

First of all let me say that the unit needs to have Styrofoam on the front, back, top and bottom. The box looked very bad when it arrived. I am very surprised that the unit wasn’t damaged.
Second I think the company needs to offer a spacer when the the roof isn’t thick enough. I had to make one so the inside unit would be spaced correctly so it would bolt up and fit. Now I have a space between the inside cover and the ceiling.
On a better note, the unit looks freaking amazing on the pop up. Even with the camper not popped all the way up and the canvas not attached it was still cool in the camper after running for 30 mins.
I would highly recommend this unit over the others so far. I’m excited to see how it does when I take it camping.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

I love the power of this unit. Super cold, but only after I cut a hole to allow the air to blow out better! The factory airflow is very anemic compared to what you may expect from a 15.5k. Without this mod it feels like a weak 13.5. Used on a 25’ class C.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

etrailer was good to work with, but the Furrion AC unit was very poorly packed for a unit weighing 80+lbs. The unit did not survive shipping and the shroud was broken in 5 places. etrailer offered to replace the unit, but the replacement will be packed the same, so doubtful if the results would be any different. etrailer offered only $xxx credit for the damages. I’m going with JB-Weld and fiberglass to repair the shroud. All because the factory packing was extremely inadequate. etrailer should drop this vendor.

The Furrion air conditioner is great. The fact that it arrived without the bolts to connect it was a bit troubling. Also no instructions for installation. Fortunately I could download those from the Internet and with the help of a few [online videos] were able to get the air conditioner installed.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Added this unit in my prepped bedroom for a second unit to my Coleman 15 k unit. The Coleman crapped out less than 2 years (new) and it took > 10 weeks to replace. I had my dealer install. It is very cold when running. It is ducted into my other unit so the jury is out if I like that way of installing. It DOES run quieter than my other unit.

Comments
Has worked ok so far. It does cycle a lot but that may be due to being hooked up in the ductwork of the Coleman 15k unit main. I would purchase this unit again

Ver happy with the purchase. Nice looking unit, easy to install, arrived way earlier than scheduled.
Used for a new installation on my hobby trailer.
People a costumer service was very diligent and knowledgeable.
Just a tip for new installations .. this unit requires 12vdc supply independently from AC supply.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Really nice ac. Easy install. The interior plenum looks really good and is a definite upgrade from the original that came with the trailer. The shroud on the roof unit was broken but etrailer is getting me a new one.
We just installed it so I was anxious to see if this 14,500 btu unit would cool my 30' Rockwood. It was 102° here in the desert today and the unit didn't seem to have any problem in holding the 78° set temp inside.
So far I'm really happy with this unit.
As for etrailer, they've been my #1 go to for some years now. 5 stars always !!!

Comments
The air is still working fine. My one concern is that the base pan that the ac is built on is plastic and Im told it cant be replaced. Here in the desert plastic is short lived. I guess when the plastic cracks I will be looking to replace the ac with a different brand.

The customer service and the shipping were outstanding. The unit shipped out the same day and I had it delivered in 5 days , that was with the weekend in that time frame. Customer service was Great, She was very knowledgeable of the A/C unit that I needed to replace in my trailer. If there is a need again to replace a hard to find part, I know now who to call. Could use better directions for installation, but overall it works well. Replaced an older ac unit on a 92' winnebago myself.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

Poorly designed unit, short cycles (compressor only runs for 30 seconds every 1-3 minutes), won't maintain a temperature without constantly rebooting it. Temperature does not read accurately and will drop as soon as the compressor turns on. It fails to maintain a setpoint. You have to tap into your 12v system causing a constant small draw when they should have an option to use a 120 to 12vdc transformer, these only cost a few dollars. Plenum is poorly designed causes a large flow restriction. Unit works better when you install the duct 90 degrees off or cut major holes into the plenum (white plastic duct). The instructions were usable but not great, they didn't explain what some of the items included were used for but included them in the contents inventory. Also some directions contradict other directions.

I was an HVAC tech for a long time, I'm very disappointed in the unit.

etrailer took a long time to ship and when it arrived it was far later than the original estimate, no option to expedite shipping. Packaging damaged but only cosmetic damage to the cover and I had already delayed my trip waiting for this to arrive.

Review from a similar Chill AC Assembly in RV Air Conditioners

The product looks great and seems to fit as advertised. I’m very excited about the finished product. I still haven’t plugged it in and see how well it works. Delivery was fast but packaging was poor. The box was torn and compressed by straps from where lifting was likely occurring. Upon opening the box and seeing unit I found the plastic holding the lid with screws broke so I’ll just have to strap the lid down with bungees I guess. Fortunately it’s only 3 screws on one side.

I’ll send photos of finished product and damage to unit.

  • Do Both Air Conditioners of Dual Zone Set Up Need to be Changed When Installing New Unit
If you are simply swapping out the same model you do not have to replace both at the same time, you can just replace one unit. Otherwise, you will need to change out both as a dual zone set up will wire into one thermostat. For a dual zone replacement I recommend the Furrion Chill systems because they offer great cooling power, an easy-to-use thermostat, and a start capacitor to ensure you can always start the AC's up on a hot day. • Will My Furnace Still Work If Installing the Furrion Dual AC Units
Yes. You will still be able to use your RV's furnace system normally when swapping over to the Furrion # F15ZA12SAZA-W, you will just need to wire the furnace controls (which should be attached to your old thermostat) into the included thermostat. Dometic labels their AC units as "Duo Therm" but that is more just branding than meaning they would also have a heating function. The temperature sensor for Furrion RV AC systems like the # F15ZA12SAZA-W you linked to is up in the ceiling with the zone controller. I spoke with Furrion and their tech stated that the fan setting needs to be left on, even just on low, to push the air in the room past the sensor to get an accurate reading and turn on the condenser unit to cool your trailer as needed.

  • Air Conditioner Recommendation for 48 Race Trailer

This comes with a start capacitor, ceiling assembly for a non-ducted application, and a wall thermostat for easy adjustments to your temperature. While this will help to provide some relief from the heat, I do believe that you'll need 2 of these for your longer trailer so I definitely recommend upgrading to the dual zone system # F15ZA12SAZA-W. This is basically the same setup...

  • Amps of Service To Run Two Air Conditioners
Your question asked if 30-amp service would run two 14,500 BTU air conditioners, but you referenced Furrion # F15ZA12SAZA-W air conditioners which are 15,500 BTU's each. The 15.5K units draw 15.4 amps each when running - so that will not work. The Furrion # F14ZA12SAZA-W air conditioners are 14,500 BTU The 14.5K units draw 14.6 amps each when running. That will not work either. You could consider the Atwood # AT15027-22 air conditioner that is13,500 BTU This 13.5K unit only draws 11.3...
