This converter charger converts AC shore power into DC power and charges your battery bank. The converter uses a high voltage output to provide the proper charging profile for lithium batteries. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.
Built for lithium batteries, this unit uses a higher output voltage than a typical converter charger, which provides a fast, complete charge. The built-in Charge Wizard provides 2-stage charging. It starts with a constant 14.6V, then drops to 13.6V after the battery is fully charged. The charger also extends battery life since it utilizes the appropriate charging profile. Additionally, it's compatible with your battery's internal Battery Management System (BMS), which helps manage charging by monitoring the battery state and balancing cell voltage.
If your battery bank requires a higher amperage or voltage to charge properly, you can connect identical converter chargers together to accommodate your setup. With parallel wiring, you can increase the charging current which is useful for high-capacity battery banks. Conversely, you can wire them in series, which increases the voltage so you can charge 24V, 36V, or 48V systems.
The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. It has short circuit protection as well, which limits the current and reduces the output until the short has been fixed. Additionally, the converter will shut down if there is excessive voltage. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit and only operates during high loads.
The converter mounts horizontally inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. However, as long as the unit has sufficient ventilation, it can also be mounted vertically. The mounting hardware is not included.
The DC output terminals wire to the battery bank. The AC in cord plugs into a 120V 3-wire grounded outlet.

Works as advertised. I can charge two 100 AH LiFePo-4 batteries with no trouble at all. Just make sure you use decent gauge wire because this charger is a beast! Smaller gauged wire will heat up due to the amount of current this thing delivers. It does constant current charging and then switches to constant voltage to top off the battery. Well worth the money!
Ordered by phone on the 4th and received the converter on the 6th. Have not installed it so no product review at this time.
The PD9160ALV converter was recommended by Battleborn to replace my OEM WFCO WF-9855 55A converter and charge two of their 100AH Lithium batteries in parallel. Great folks at etrailer customer support/sales.
PD9160ALV was received quickly and works exactly as described. It was easy to swap out with the old charger and now quickly and correctly charges my lithium batteries.
Initially thought it had a problem but turned out to be my multimeter as far as the converter to early to tell but I expect it will be fine. I am VERY IMPRESSED with the customer support of etrailer and would highly recommend them.

Needed a new converter for my lithium batteries on my RV. Was going to order from [online store], but not sure what's best. In researching I stumbled across etrailer, who I had heard of through YouTube, and the same thing was $xx cheaper. It arrived in 2 days. I didn't even have the old one out yet. This product was recommended by the lifepo4 battery manufacturer to fully charge the 3 batteries I purchased. Installation was pretty simple. Did not have to run larger wiring which was thankful. Simply swap out old converter charger with new one and ready to use. I would highly recommend this product.

My Progressive charge I purchased from etrailer for my lead acid batteries have been working great so I want to stay with Progressive. Etrailer has the best prices and very fast shipping. Working my way to more battery capability. To that end, purchasing this lithium converter enhanced my total recovery time when recharging my battleborn batteries. Etrailer is awesome with all the details and support! Importantly, this converter was the newest version… no offloading old equipment with etrailer… just the best and most up-to-date from this company!
My old converter was struggling to charge my lithium ion battery so I found this and took a shot. It seemed like my old converter, made for lead acid batteries, could charge the battery, but soooo slow and it seemed like the batteries would drain down to 30-50% every time we came to a travel day. I installed this and boom, instant 14+ volts going to the batteries and charged them to 100% so fast. Then once charged it dropped back to 13.6 volts in rest mode. The converter is a lot quieter than my prior one and the fan hardly ever kicks on. So happy I bought this. Shipping was faster than something else I order the same day on [online retailer]! etrailer has got their shipping department on lock down!!

Dale - 02/09/2022Unit is working well in place of a malfunctioning WFCO 9855. Cord was too short for my camper though. I had to mount it in a new location and add a Heavy Duty extension cord to make it work. Made a simple swap to a much longer project.
I'm a full timer and I live in my Arctic Fox fifth wheel off grid pretty much all of the time. Nearly all of my power is provided by my solar, but I purchased this converter to quickly charge my 300ah lithium battery when there's not enough sun. However, this has probably not happened 6 times in the last year.
I kept my original converter and installed this converter within 3 feet of the battery. I ran overly large gauge welding cable from the converter to the battery. When needed I plug it into my generator, thus I only use this to charge my battery on cloudy days. I don't use it on shore power.
Per battery monitor, the current to the battery is always very close to the 60amp rating (55-59 amps). It charges the lithium to a perfect 14.6 volts very quickly. I've no complaints about this device, though I've used it very little (~10 hours).
I would buy this again in a heartbeat.
The only improvement I can think of is... I would like to be able to configure it to stop charging a little earlier, because I think it would be a little less stress on the battery if it stopped at 14.4 volts verses 14.6. Everything I've read suggests that the lithium batteries last longer if treated gently (low and high ends). I have ample capacity and can afford to be gentle with it. A Lifeblue battery tech support guy agreed with me on this. But this is really nit picking!
So far so good. Charging 2 LiFePO4 batteries. Seems like a great converter.

There are no status lights of any kind on the 9160avl. There is a separate, optional ($xx.xx) accessory led module that plugs into the accessory port. This give you a remote led to display status information. This device should be included with the pd9160avl.

Worked as it should…
It is a very easy plug and play charger for conversion from lead acid batteries to lithium ion batteries. Charges at a higher voltage and doesn’t ramp the amperage down which is required for lead acid. Much quicker charge time than the WFCO that it replaced.
Not a lot to say about the converter other than it does precisely what it’s supposed to do and I never have to think about it!
