Having a propane or carbon monoxide gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of either, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED will flash, and the horn will blare 4 times. When propane gas only or both propane and CO are detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensors are highly selective, they're designed to only sound the alarm for lethal gases, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane and CO Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

Great item for the price and EZ install. Replaced old faulty unit that would go off all hours of the day and night with this low profile unit. Tammie at etrailer was a great help with selecting the correct item with fast and free shipping.

by:

This unit was easy to install and works perfectly! Highly recommend as a replacement for original from factory.

by:

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy! After 6 years, Atwood detector finally decided it was done. Found this little number and was so easy, I was done in 5 minutes (most of which was finding a pair of pliers). Cross my fingers it never detects anything but feel much better that we have a working one now.

by:

Great price and great product

by:

Good product, arrived quickly and on time. Ordering was easy and fast. eTrailer.com upgraded shipping at no additional charge. will use eTrailer.com again. New to RVing.

by:

Products great, good price, when shipping you need to ask if the items are needed fast, this shipping was ups and delivery was the post office, the post office is poor, when you ship by UPS I get it fast, but you never know when it will come when the postal service gets it,

by:

Received unit that came with two adapter covers to fit existing hole. Hooked up and worked right away. Simple instructions and good looking piece of equipment. Arrived on time, thank you.

by:

The original propane detector in our camper is now obsolete. This model fit over the original cut out. Looks clean.

by:

Easy installation. Rar instructions.
Well
made, exactly as described.

by:

This was a great replacement for the failed Atwood model that was installed.

by:

Very compact design that fit perfectly in its designated space with one of the two adapters provided.

by:

Easy to install. The covers included sealed up the existing hole nicely from the old one. Seems to work more reliably than our old one, which was triggered easily.

by:

Easy installation

by:

Inclusion of two mounting plates, one square-ish and the other more stretched out allowed me to pick the one that filled the hole left by the old Atwood it replaced. Functionality is good, but only 5 yr lifespan is a little disappointing.

by:

I was tired of buying carbon monoxide detectors from West Marine for my boat, and none of them performed as good as this one, I am very happy with the purchase.

by:

Had two backer plates of different sizes to choose from. Unit was very easy to install. It was very loud when tested.

by:

Have not been able to install yet, so no rating on product. Ordering, shipping, and delivery went very well.

by:

Easy to install and works as advertised.

by:

Awesome found me a replacement cheaper

by:

Arrived two days ahead of schedule. Super easy installation. Couldn’t be happier.

by:

Replaced our original monitor and feel safe knowing this new one is working as it should!!

by:

Arrived on time and in excellent condition. Very satisfied.

by:

Easy to install. Works. Time will tell if it lasts.

by:

I liked the idea of having both detectors in one unit. Easy install.

by:

Great service and very timely delivery,

  • How to Find an RV or Camper Replacement Carbon Monoxide Detector
While we do not have exact year, make, and model replacement trailer carbon monoxide detectors available, we do offer new units that can essentially replace those original parts. The RVSafe # RS34FR is my recommendation. It's a solid option and is CSA Certified. I have attached a video for review and additional information.

  • When Does the Life Expectancy Start for a Carbon Monoxide Detector On a Trailer
Detectors have varying lifespans between 5 to 10 years. For instance our RVSafe # RS34FR detector has a stated 5 year lifespan. Also, effective 8-1-2009, all detectors will give an repeated audible warning when the detector has reached its end of life. That said, new detectors beginning their life cycle at first power up.

  • My CO/Propane Detector Beeps Every Couple Hours In My 2019 Leisure Travel Motor Home
On your 2019 LTV Motorhome, the Atwood 31011 (Discontinued) CO/Propane Detector beeping every couple hours while driving could be a couple different things. I would start with checking the battery to make sure it isn't getting too low. If it is low, fully charge it and see if the chirping stops. If your battery is fully charged and it is still chirping then the unit is malfunctioning and should be replaced. I recommend the RVSafe RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector - 12 Volt - White...

  • Atwood CO2 and Propane Detector Beeps and Flashes
Yes, it does indeed sound like the carbon monoxide detector has gone bad which is usually the case when you get a bunch of false alerts. The average lifespan is around 5-7 years so it's time to replace this one for which I recommend using the RVSafe RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector part # RS34FR.

  • What is the Warranty on the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector
The 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector - 12 Volt - White # RS34FR has a 1 year limited warranty against manufacturers defects from the date of purchase. This does have a test feature so that you can check it even if your coach has been sitting for a while and make sure that it's functioning properly.

  • Do RV Carbon Monoxide Detectors Use Internal Batteries
Some propane/carbon monoxide detectors use household batteries to operate, but most connect directly to the trailer 12 volt battery system. If your detector finds low voltage from internal batteries, or the trailer battery, it will chirp to alert you. Internal battery locations will vary. If you need a replacement detector I recommend the RVSafe # RS34FR. It runs entirely off of your trailer battery so you will not need to worry about changing batteries.

  • Replacement RV Carbon Monoxide Detector for Atwood 900-0143-LPM
I have a solution for you but there is not a direct replacement for your old Atwood unit. Instead, you can use the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector - 12 Volt - White # RS34FR to replace your old Atwood carbon monoxide detector, but this is a wired model so it's not a direct replacement. This would be the only solution currently available but it will protect you from natural gas leaks or carbon monoxide.

  • Troubleshooting Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide Detector That Has Blinking Light When Hooked To Batteries
Since the Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector AT36681 you have is not blinking when you are hooked up to shore power, and only when running off the batteries I recommend checking the wiring connections to the battery which could have come loose. If you find that all of the connections are correct then replacing the unit with a new one will be required to make sure it is properly monitoring your trailer from harmful Carbon Monoxide or Propane Gas. Since the AT36681 you have...

  • Atwood Carbon Monoxide and Propane Alarm - False Alarms
A detector, like the Atwood AT36681 (DISCONTINUED), should NOT be installed where it will get direct sunlight or open windows or doors. They are sensitive instruments that do on rare occasion give a false alert. I would try relocating your sensor to a wall, near the floor, and not near an air vent or stove. Also keep in mind that these sensors are only good for about 7 years. If your detector runs on batteries consider changing them. If you need a replacement you can use the RVSafe...

  • How To Install The RV Safe Carbon Monoxide And Propane Gas Detector
Changing your carbon and propane detector is a very simple process. If installing the RV Safe Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector Item # RS34FR you want to make sure your power is turned off and remove the old unit from the wall. Before disconnecting the wiring observe how it is wired. You simply have 12 volt power going to the unit and a ground. There will be one red wire and one black wire. The black is ground and the red is power.

I recommend checking for the source of the gas leak and then resetting your fridge and and gas detector.

Additionally do not mount within 12" of any opening windows, exterior doors, fans, vents, or areas with a draft. • Recommended Replacement for ProTechTor Propane Gas Detector
I'm not aware of a way to reset a ProTechTor propane leak detector, but this unit is somewhat obsolete at this point so I do recommend replacing it. The Atwood model you've mentioned is no longer available but the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector - 12 Volt - White # RS34FR is also a high quality replacement that detects propane gas and carbon monoxide, so it's the best solution to protect you and your family from dangerous gas leaks.

The 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector, # RS34FR can be mounted vertically or horizontally. • Troubleshooting Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Detector with Red Light Flashing on Propane
The red blinking light on the light of the Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector AT36681 typically means that the propane sensor is disabled or faulty. Since you've already tried resetting the unit you'll want to make sure you are getting at least 9 volts to the unit. If the unit is getting proper power (~12v), this would indicate the unit is faulty and would need to be replaced. I don't believe the Atwood units are still being made since they were sold to Dometic a few years...

The 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR doesn't have an internal battery and actually runs off of the RV battery. So if you are getting a battery related error code that would indicate that it's the RV battery that needs to be charged/checked.
