Shane: Hey guys, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at Camco's circuit analyzer. What this is designed to do is to protect your camper from faulty wiring when you're plugged into an outlet. Let's say we go to a campsite and we don't have this, we just take our plug from our camper, plug it into the outlet at the campsite. Let's say they have something wired wrong. Well, any issue with that is going to feed right through our wiring to our camper, potentially damage the wiring in our camper, or our inverter that we may have in there.
It may ruin the inverter completely, and inverters actually are not that cheap so we want to make sure we protect ourself. That's why I recommend Camco's circuit analyzer.We're going to have an indicator light right up here at the very top corner, this is going to tell you that you are surge-protected. You're going to have a couple other indicator lights up here and a diagram down here, so if any of these lights are on, you just follow the diagram to determine what the issue is. Each end is going to give you female and male end, 30 amp circuit. It's going to give you 125 volts.
It's also going to protect your wiring on your camper up to 2100 joules. It is designed to be used outside, so it can hold up in all weather conditions, you just want to make sure you're not submerging it down in water. Everything is nice and solid, nice durable plastic construction for our handles. Wires are nicely coated, so we don't have to worry about them corroding. If you'll notice our plugs are going to have nice handles on them.
We can get four fingers in there, gives us something to hold on to when we're trying to disconnect or connect our wiring.So the first thing we want to do is we want to take this and we're going to plug it into the outlet where we're going to be running our power cord from our RV. We'll take this and we'll plug it in to our generator here, and if you come up close you'll notice that our light here is on. This is telling us that we're surge-protected. We have one yellow light that's saying we have correct wiring. Now that we've checked our light on our analyzer, we're surge-protected, we've checked our indicator light, matched it up with our mapping on the bottom, and it's saying that we're safe to hook up our power cable from our camper and we're ready to go.
Something that I really like about this is the small size of it. With it being this small, we can pretty much put it in a small compartment, so it's ready to go next time. It's not going to get in our way for some of those bigger items that we want to take with us. That being said, that's going to do it for our look at the Camco circuit analyzer.

RonnyC - 05/09/2019The item is much bigger than I imagined. Seems to be heavy duty. I intend to use it during the first week of July at a campground. The most important thing for me is that it will provide information and protect my trailer electronics.

I have not had a chance to use it on the road yet, but I connected it to our hookup at home, that I wired myself, and was reassured to see all of the correct lights light up. When I hit the road, I will be a first timer, and everything I have read strongly recommends testing circuits prior to hooking up and using surge protection. This device does both.

The camco power defender came much earlier then was promised . I placed my order late one evening the next took a phone call from entrailer.com c/s. The nice lady said the power defender was on back order and would be probly two weeks before they received the order and they would ship it out the same day . Sounds reasonable right ! Well here's what happened .... Five days after placing the order a package showed up from etrailer , I assumed it was the rest of the order that was in stock ( 2- tail lights and a vent lid ) but to my surprise it was the full order ! Plus the way it was packaged was nothing less then overkill which is nice to see now days . Maybe 8 lbs of product in a box rated for 100 lbs ! Now the reason that impressed me so much is , im a retired contractor from one of the largest small package companies in the world . Everyday I saw product being shipped in sub par packaging . Even shipped in the box that was ment to be displayed in the store . So to me this is kind of a big deal ! After all those years of my customers asking if I ran their package over with my truck . When it's the shipper that just doesn't care and trying to save a couple bucks this is quit refreshing ! As for the power defender , ask me in about 30 days after my wife I return from our first camp outing of the season . We have been staying in campgrounds we new had good power but now the kids are out we're heading to other places .
Hooked the 30amp dogbone with surge protector up right away, to the outlet I installed outside my house for my new camper. Anytime I hook up my new camper to a 30amp outlet it's going to be good insurance to know that the circuit is wired correctly! Great product... Best Price at etrailer! Mostly bought this to pretest outlet before plugging in my camper. It has 3 led lights on it that show the condition of the outlet. This part works just like one of those little outlet testers with the 3 lights that we have all seen for standard 20 amp outlets. It also says it has a Surge Suppressor. I can not comment on the operation of this part of the product. (How would you know if it worked?) " It does do a great job of pretesting the outlet and I have found many 30 amp plugs in campgrounds wired with the hot and neutral reversed. Even the 50/30/20 RV box I purchased at Home Depot was wired wrong. It's cheap insurance. I recommend it.

Hello etrailer. I rate the RV power defender and locking cable we recently purchased at 5 stars each. As a beginner RV owner, I was looking for something that was simple to understand yet confident it would do the job. The Camco 30amp Power Defender was the perfect answer. In fact, my wife and I are currently sitting at our campsite and I’m looking at the unit that shows the surge protection is on and the 30 amp campsite wiring is correct.
Hard to say anything negative, I haven't experienced any issues that I would need the defender for. It does give me a solid piece of mind knowing it's there though.
Customer recently at RV park when lightning strike caused voltage spike, damaged several circuits in RV. A must for protecting RV AC electrical. Also analyses AC circuit quality at the RV park panel, before plugging RV into panel.

Been trailer camping for 2 years without a surge protector and electric system diagnostic tool. Glad to have one for protection and piece of mind.
So far I’ve not had a problem with this protector. Comforting to know I’ve got the trailers circuit protected. I have not had an issue with a campgrounds electric hookup so I haven’t seen it indicating a bad circuit. Easy to use and read and has worked well in the rain. We’ve used this at a fox or so campgrounds and several times for about a week. Price was great and would purchase again

Great product. This is the second Camco RV Power Analyzer that I have purchased, to give this one to a friend. And, etrailer sells these (and all their products) at a super price. Fit my needs perfectly. Great product. Nothing blew out so far. We had a few lightning storms and a couple of close hits. Everything survived. Including a deeply covered, in our little queen size bed, a spastic shivering Golden Retreiver that hates water and storms.
