Video Transcript for Furrion RV Power Cord Extension Review

Adam: What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Furrion RV power cord extension. So this one right here, we're going to have on one side, a 50 amp female plug. We're going to have three little prongs here to stick into, and then we're going to have our fourth connection here, which is going to be our second ground. So this will be a 50 amp cord. It's going to be about 30 foot long.

And as you can see up in our little connection port here, what you want to make sure of is if you do have these little twist connections, if you have two that are going to have these little tabs on it, and you're going to have this fourth connection here for the ground, make sure that you do grab a 50 amp plug, because if you grab a 30 amp plug, it's not going to work with this connection. So step one, figure out your connection. Step two, figure out the chords you want, and of course the length. 30 is plenty of length in my opinion, to get it nice and faceted in. I really like it. It's really high grade housing for the cable.

The nice thing about it is you get a good grip on it too. It's got little ribs here, kind of makes it somewhat easy. And then once we put it in there, we're going to twist it to lock it into place. But then we have this little threaded portion here we can thread on.This is going to be a universal fit with all the other brands that you may have. So you don't really have to worry about it not being compatible.

As long as it's a four pronged, 50 amp, you should be good. On the other end of our 30 foot cord, we are going to have a pole smart little handle. I really like this. And we are using a generator today just because we're not at an RV park, but the nice thing about this handle is it's really easy to take out and put in. Also, we are going to have some LEDs on the top to indicate if we have power or not.

Another thing I like about this is it's got a 90 degree connection to it. So it's going to be a lot easier on your cord. And of course, whatever we may be plugging into it.So let's just say, we're ready to go on a trip. We want to cool it down in here. It's about 94 degrees. It's quite hot. So let's check if we have power and turn on this AC. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. All right. So now we're going to be a lot more comfortable and the power cord works, which is a plus, but with the 50 amp plug, we're going to have the abilities to power two different AC units and also be able to power our refrigerator, keep all of our food and stuff cool. All right. Let's just say we're done with the weekend. Let's see exactly how you guys are really going to live with this thing. It's a very long cord, so let's see if we can get it coiled up just as nicely as it was when we got it first. So first of all, with the easy pull handle, I really like it just because it's super, super simple and it's going to put a lot less stress on your cord and of course your hands too. We're not going to have these prongs break off or anything just because we can both straight back and not have to kind of wiggle this thing apart. I've done that before and it's just not good for the cord. So I think this is going to last quite a long time. Also, I noticed that the coating on the cable is extremely thick. So if you do end up dragging it along the concrete or something like that, I think it's going to with withstand a lot of that scratches and stuff, and it's not going to break through the coating of the cable, but as you can see here, it kind of wants to still maintain its shape. This is kind of like a garden hose at home. It's just going to take some time, but with how thick this cable is, it's actually cooperating quite nicely. It does not come with a carrying case or anything. So whether you just put it in your storage or you grab a carrying case, I know Furrion does have one. So if you'd like that, go ahead and grab you one, but we can just throw it in the storage of the RV if we really need to. I really do like how we can thread this on just in case some crazy storm comes through. Not any water is going to get in this little crack here and short anything out. So I really like that and it's got these little grips on it. So even if your hands are sweaty like mine, because it's kind of hot out here, you don't really have to worry about not getting a grip. And the same with this too. So pretty simple stuff. All in all is a very good length for a cord, in my opinion, and with all the heavy duty materials, all the grips and stuff that we get, it's definitely going to be a good cord for all of your 50 amp RVs. This is going to get our RV as much power as it can possibly take in. So this is going to allow us to run a bunch of different appliances in the RV.So whether you are just running a couple different AC units, or you just got a bunch of TVs and stuff like that for the kiddos, whatever it may be, this court is going to be playing. I think the length is very good too. It confines down exactly how big it was when we took it out of the package. It's really cooperating, honestly, I was pretty impressed by that. I've had garden hoses given me a lot more trouble than this, and this is a lot more than just a simple garden hose. It's a big, big cable. And I think it's going to be good for you guys. So that's pretty much it for our look at the Furrion 50 amp RV power extension cord.
