RV and boat owners have long relied on Twist Lock style connections for powering their rides. For years, it has been the best option for connecting to shore power. It's been reliable, but most know it's not without disadvantages:
SmartPlug's connector addresses each of these concerns and does all of the heavy lifting.
Locking arms grab the inlet, a clamp inside the plug body holds the cord, the inlet cap snaps to the top while in use, and the integrated seals weatherproof the connection. This helps prevent the wiggly, dirty connections that increase electrical resistance, which creates potentially dangerous heat.
Since it uses a square plug face, SmartPlug is able to use flat pins which create far more surface contact, further reducing the risk of high heat and electrical arcing. The square shape and flat pins also make it easy to plug in - no more twisting or guessing if the pins are lined up correctly.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at the Smart Plug replacement, 30 amp RV power inlet. This is going to replace your Smart Plug inlet so that you can plug your RV into your shore power again. This is a black 30 amp, 125 volt male inlet that's going to accept your Smart Plug 30 amp female connectors like so. Very easy to get hooked up, gives you all those benefits of the Smart Plug system. Now, if you don't already have a Smart Plug system, I would recommend coming to etrailer.com.
We do have kits available that not only have the inlet, but also have connectors or conversion kits so that you can switch your current setup to work with the smart power inlet. But if you don't already have a cable, you are gonna need one to use that inlet. They are kind of a proprietary design there. But if you are already using a Smart Plug system, you just need the inlet. This is gonna be a great option for you.
This is gonna have all the same features as the original. It's got that straighten nickel plated brass inlet pin set in there. That's going to maximize your electrical transfer. The sleeved design keeps the weight and tension off those electrical pins. Puts it on the sleeve so that you're not gonna have to worry about those pins becoming loose if you trip over the cord or something like that.
And the straight in connection makes the plugin very easy. Even in the dark, you have that unique shape that only fits into one way. And this does also have the same triple waterproof seal to help prevent corrosion and water getting in there. The inlet cap snaps in to create that waterproof seal when you're not using it. And then it will also snap onto the connector when it's plugged in to make sure that it's not going to pull out.
This is a nice durable, Valox 553 U resin. It's gonna be resistant to UV rays and heat. So it's gonna hold up really well for you. It is made here in the USA. So you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. They do include instructions to help you get everything set up. As well as a hex key so that you can get those wires connected there in the back. So very easy to follow those directions. Get your old ones switched out, and your new one put in. Now this is the black color. We do also have different colors available including gray, white, and stainless steel. So depending on what's gonna match your setup the best, make sure that you're getting the one that's gonna work for you. So that's gonna complete our look for today. I was having issues with the electric connection at the trailer. The ring around the male plug wasn't keeping the plug right to the trailer causing a couple lower outages in the trailer. This plug combination totally cured that issue. When plugged into trailer, it's a tight positive, locked fit. When electrical connections are loose, they cause heat. Could very well cause a fire. I eliminated that connection problem with this plug!!!! Highly recommend.

I’ve been using a smartplug for three years now. It’s been amazing and has outlasted the old twist lock style. My connector still looks brand new. But I ordered this to upgrade to the stainless housing since the plastic one became brittle. It’s worth the extra money for stainless! And this is the best price I found for them.

I haven’t had a chance to install the smart plug power inlet and connector yet but based off of videos and reviews I have no doubt it will be huge improvement from the twist lock and plastic wring I currently have. Will update again once installed
