Video Transcript for Review of Everchill RV Refrigerators - 16 Cu Ft 12V Fridge with Freezer - WAY44FR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Everchill 16 cubic foot RV refrigerator and freezer drawer. This is going to be a 16 cubic foot capacity refrigerator. So it is gonna feel very similar to the refrigerator that you already have at home. This will do a great job of keeping your food and drinks cool as you're going out on your camping trip. This will run off of your 12 volt DC power.

So it is going to be capable of running off your batteries. If you're out boondocking off grid, or if you are connected to shore power, it will run off of your converter. The power consumption is going to vary depending on a few different factors including the settings that you have, your cooling temperatures set to the temperature inside your RV and how frequently and how long you have it opened up. But on average, it is going to consume about 72 watts or about six and 1/2 to seven amps per hour. So that's gonna be about 1,700 watts or about 150 amp hours per day.

It does have a 20 amp startup rating. So you wanna make sure that your system's gonna be capable of that. You've got some battery power ready to go. If you're gonna be out off the grid for an extended period of time. But as long as you have the power going, this is gonna do a really good job for you.

You can see it does have the modern style with the French doors there and the freezer down at the bottom. It's got that stainless steel finish. So it is going to match your other appliances and look really nice for you. If we open up the doors, we can see on the inside we are gonna have these adjustable glass shelves so we can move these around to accommodate larger items or get it set up the way we want. We're also going to have shelves on the doors here but we can also adjust so that we can fit everything that we need as we're going out on our camping trip.

Make sure we're well stocked. Our crisper drawers are going to have humidity settings so we can make sure that our fruits and vegetables are gonna be nice and crisp and fresh. The freezer, just slide open and you can see we are going to have a top drawer and a bottom drawer. So that's gonna make it very convenient for us instead of having to dig through a super deep drawer to find anything that we're looking for, we can keep it better organized and separated that way so it's easier to find. We are gonna be able to control the temperature settings up here at the top. So we've got fridge, a display and a freezer display that we can adjust the temperature range on so that we can get everything set up the way we want it. We're also going to have a display for our battery level so we can see if we're gonna have enough energy for running our refrigerator. There's also an LED light back here that obviously I'm not hooked up to power here. So you won't be able to see the digital displays for any of these or that light, but it is gonna do a good job especially with our glass shelves there, making sure that we can see everything that's in our refrigerator. This does have a durable construction and we also have leveling feet done at the bottom so that we can make sure that everything's gonna be level. We're not gonna have to worry about our groceries inside rattling or potentially breaking. This refrigerator weighs about 187 pounds. So it is gonna be a little bit difficult to move but it does have some wheels on there to help you slide it in place. As far as the size, it is about 28 and 1/2 inches wide, 70 inches tall and 30 inches deep. It is recommended that you have one inch of clearance on all the sides to ensure proper ventilation. You're not gonna need external ventilation. It's just gonna ventilate into your RV's interior. So you wanna make sure that you have enough clearance that that can get out and cool down. You do wanna also make sure that the door is going to stick out at least an inch beyond your surrounding cabinets to ensure that it's gonna have adequate room to open up and that sort of thing. So overall, a really nice option here. If you are looking for basically a residential style refrigerator for your RV, this is gonna give you plenty of capacity in there for your food and drinks as you're going off grid and by running off that DC power, it is gonna be more efficient. So you can run off your batteries if you're gonna be off the grid for a while. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

I have had the unit now for about a week. It has been running in an 88 degree environment, and has, so far, been flawless. I have a temperature monitor in it, and the reported temperature matches the temperature on the digital display in the refrigerator for both the freezer and fridge sections.

I also have a power meter on it, as I wanted to know how many watts it pulls max, and steady state. It seems to run at 2 different speeds, with one speed taking about 60w and the other taking about 100w-105w. The most I have ever seen it pull was 131w on the initial chill, and that was a spike, not continuous. Even in 88 degrees, it does shut off too.

We are getting ready for the first trip with it, and it does not have any door latch mechanism other than the default magnet closure, which is fairly strong. We will see if it gets docked a star or not after the trip if the doors come open.

Replaced the factory dometic refrigerator with the 12 volt everchill. Wished the camper I have would've had this in it new. Looks and works great. More room in fridge and freezer than the domestic. Would recommend to anyone.

The refrigerator is working well. Had some problems originally because I used too small wires to connect the refrigerator. I am using the refrigerator in an off grid cabin with solar power and adequate batteries to ensure continuous operation. The refrigerator uses approximately 150 amp hours per day depending on the ambient temperature and how often you open the door and for how long etc. Your results may vary.

so far so good

  • Replacement of Norcold 1200LRIM with Everchill # WAY44FR
While I was unable to confirm the exact dimensions of the Norcold 1200LRIM, I think your current refrigerator to be 63-1/4 inches tall, 32-11/16 inches wide, and 24 inches deep. Please confirm this. The Everchill RV refrigerator with freezer drawer at 17 Cu Ft, 12Volt in stainless steel, # WAY44FR that you reference has an overall dimensions of 28-1/2" wide x 67-3/4" tall x 28-1/2" deep. So while a little taller it is slightly narrower, this is a 12 volt refrigerator that will run off...

  • What is the Amp Draw of the Everchill 17 cu/ft Refrigerator
The manufacturer of the EverChill # WAY44FR only provides the 20 amp maximum current draw rating for the refrigerator. This will of course will be the max rating for start up cycle when the compressor first kicks on. How many amp hours you will use is of course a wide variable depending on the demand you place on the unit, i.e. what temp setting do you place the unit to, how full do keep the refrigerator, how often do you open the doors, ambient temperature the unit resides etc. Based...

Without knowing the placement of your Everchill RV Refrigerator, # WAY44FR, within the RV it is challenging for me to make exact suggestions. However, in general, use of L brackets is best choice. Select an attachment point and measure the area, locally source needed length brackets. I would focus on angle brackets and corner braces to bottom of unit first.

The EverChill # WAY44FR does not have an automatic high-voltage shutoff switch. According to the owner's manual, available at the EverChill's website, a possible reason for the refrigerator not working is only being unplugged or a blown fuse in the travel trailer power center. The DC operating volage is 9-17VDC, electricity >15A. There is a power indicator on the front of the refrigerator. It will illuminate when the input voltage is greater than 12.5V, the Full icon light is on. When...

When you wire two 6v batteries in series you are combining the voltage to get 12v but the amp hours stay the same so you're only getting 225amp hours out of both batteries.
