Video Transcript for Review of Valterra RV Sewer Hose Fittings - Sewer Adapters - Sewer Couplers and Nipples - T1041-1

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we gonna take a look at the Valterra RV gray-water eccentric tank reducer. Now, this eccentric tank reducer will convert a three-inch tank outlet to a 1-1/2 inch opening for a gray-water tank. This can also be used to reduce a three-inch sewer pipe to a 1-1/2 inch pipe. The three-inch spigot end right here will mount directly in your tank outlet, or slide over a three-inch sewer pipe. The overall diameter on this end is 3-1/2 inches.

The inside diameter, where the pipe will slide in, is right at three-inches. On the other end, the hub side, the overall diameter on this is 2-1/4 inches. And the inside diameter is right about 1-7/8 inches. So, this will fit over 1-1/2 inch size sewer pipe. Now to connect this, it does require ABS solid cement for installation.

And that solid cement, we do sell separately on our website. But that should do it for the review on this Valterra RV gray-water eccentric tank reducer..

by:

Just what I needed together with the Valterra valve and threaded connector I also bought from etrailer it worked well for my project

by:

fast delivery. fit perfectly. 1 year later, going strong.

by:

Have not gotten this

by:

Quality part that arrived in a timely manner. This is an offset reduction coupling that allows the 3" pipe drain completely into the 1 1/2" pipe. Just what I needed. If connecting to a 3" pipe you will need a coupling.

after xmas to easter trailer build, very happy with everything i got from etrailer, inside and outside showers, 2nd toilet, 2nd cook and cleanup area, out of the weather garage for utv and motorcycle, added freezer to our travels, running off solar, still alot of work ahead, not done with you guys yet, thanks for your great resource!

by:

I built a fully equipped toy hauler from a bare shell cargo trailer. My gray water tank came with a 3" drain so this adapter worked perfect to reduce down to 1.5".

by:

I bought these and installed them On my mother's RV she's 93 years young and summers in northern New Mexico these EZ valves has made her life so much easier wish I would have done it earlier

etrailer.com is a must for anyone that has a RV or camper! Their website is very easy to navigate no matter what you are looking for. I have used this site several times and each time my order was delivered perfectly.

by:

Exactly what I needed that I could not find at the hardware store. This is the gray water tank ABS connection adapter to the drain line. It did take over a week to get to my house so pay the bucks for fast shipping if you are in a hurry.

by:

Exactly what I needed to make my basement shower drain work. Keeping the flow line of the drain at the top of the concrete slab was critical. This fitting was mandatory to do that. Worked great. Needed special pipe glue to work with the pvc in the house but the glue was cheap and worked fine.

by:

just what I needed. Very hard to get in the tank, but I finally got it.

  • Diameter of the Larger Side of the Valterra RV Sewer Hose Reducers T1041-1 and T1041-2
If you check out the video link I attached you can see where our demo guy measures the larger side of the T10401-2 and it has an outer diameter of 3-1/2 inches and an inner diameter of 3 inches. Right at the 29 second mark you can see the ruler held up to the product so you know he isn't mistaken. That end is going to fit over a 3 inch sewer pipe like you mentioned.

  • 3 inch to 1-1/2 inch Reducer for RV Sewer Piping
The adapter you need is the Valterra part # T1041-1 that you referenced as it fits your configuration needs. The 3 inch portion fits into the tank and then the 1-1/2 inch portion fits over the elbow fitting like you need. Rubber cement is basically not designed to be broken up though.

  • Do RV Sewer Pipes Have to be Cut Completely Off When Removed and Reinstalled
What's interesting about the ABS fittings of RV sewer pipes is that they have to be completely cut off and can't be cleaned or removed. It has to be completely cut off and everything has to be new.

  • What Normally Seals RV Sewer Pipes
When replacing RV sewer lines you have to cut them totally off since the ABS cement is a permanent plastic weld. Then when you go to make new connections you end up having to replace anything that can't be separated. Or you can use adapters to fit into or over the old pipes and use solvent to make the connection. For solvent we have the part # 3447530889.

Unfortunately just looking at a picture isn't going to be enough for me to identify what the manufacturer used to glue the 3" pipe reducer # T1041-1 to the other fitting, however I can tell you that you should use some ABS # A05-0303 when you're ready to hook up your new pipe reducer.

The Valterra Eccentric Tank Reducer, part # T1041-1, is installed with cement. When you reinstall the new one use # A05-0303. The cement is permanent so you're not going to be able to break it up. Instead you need to cut the pipes after removing the hose clamps. Then replace it with the new one and apply the new cement. The same cement can be used on other plumbing parts as well.

  • Is There a Way to Use Double RV Waste Valves - Sewer Wye with Two 1-1/2 Pipes
I do have an option for you but none of our sewer wye valves feature two 1-1/2" inlet pipes into a single 3" outlet. That said, you can still use something like the Double RV Waste Valves - Sewer Wye part # TR38 by just reducing the 3" hub down to a 1-1/2" hub with the Valterra Eccentric Tank Reducer part # T1041-1. This would give you a 1-1/2" spigot and 1-1/2" hub but that's the best we can do.

I do have a way for you to get what you want, but that's not something that's made. You'll need a few parts: Waste Valve # T1001 Adapter # T1041-1 Bayonet Adapter # T1028 ABS Glue # A05-0303 You mentioned PVC but your 1-1/2" Grey water pipe should be black ABS plastic per RVIA regulations and not PVC however. You'll connect the waste valve to hub end to your existing pipe, the adapter to the other end of the waste valve, and the bayonet adapter to that adapter.

  • What is the Difference Between Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valves # E85-8 and # E84-8
The difference between the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valves # E85-8 and # E84-8 is the design of the center output tube. On # E85-8 it's a straight, regular hub. On # E84-8 the center tube has bayonet fittings. Based on your pictures you would need # E84-8. However, the input size of either hub is 3 inches so your smaller tubes would not fit without adapting to the tubing size you have up to a 3 inch mating tube to fit the E84-8.
