If you are an energy-conscious RV owner, the Go Power Solar Elite charging system provides clean, renewable power and independence from the grid. This kit comes with everything you need to charge your RV batteries with sunlight. Using 6 solar panels, this system collects solar energy to create DC power that passes through 2 solar controllers to charge your RV batteries.

How It Works

Collecting Solar Power

go power solar panel

The charging process starts with the solar panels, which install on the roof of your RV. When solar energy interacts with the silicon cells in each panel, it generates a flow of DC electrical current that charges your RV's batteries. Each of the monocrystalline cells is made from a single crystal of silicon, so the electrons that create the current have more space to move, making these panels more efficient than one with polycrystalline cells. And in optimal sunlight conditions, the panels produce 1,140 watts per hour.

solar cells

The silicon cells are set between a cushioned backing material and tempered solar glass to withstand the elements. The glass has low-iron content to provide exceptional transparency, which ensures maximum sunlight collection. Finally, each panel is framed with anodized marine-grade aluminum to resist rust and corrosion.

go power adjustable arms

An adjustable mount kit (sold separately) can increase your solar panel performance by angling it for maximum sun exposure. This kit replaces the panel's existing brackets and allows it to tilt at 3 different angles. This also improves solar charging during winter months when the sun is lower in the sky.

Charging and Protecting RV Battery Bank

mppt 60 amp solar controller

The solar controller prevents harmful overcharging by adjusting the power generated by the solar panels before it reaches your batteries. It uses maximum power point tracking technology to compare solar output to battery voltage and converts that output to an optimal amperage. Typically, this type of technology is a good fit for larger systems with higher voltages. This kit also includes a fixed-mount remote and Bluetooth dongle that install inside your RV.

Using a multistage charging system, the controller automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. The controller is compatible with multiple battery types and includes preset charging profiles for lithium, sealed, gel, and flooded/wet cell batteries.

Charging Modes

  1. Bulk: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. As the name suggests, this is where the bulk of the charging happens. It typically charges the battery to at least 80% capacity.
  2. Absorption : This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery reaches between 80% to 90% capacity, the absorption state will kick in and start charging at a regulated voltage. In each charging profile, this mode is set to last for 30 minutes after the bulk charge is completed.
  3. Float : Once the battery reaches full charge, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization : On flooded/wet cell batteries, this mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended float cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

mppt solar controller remote

The fixed-mount remote with backlit, digital display acts as an information center for your solar panel output. It shows the charging current, battery voltage, and battery state of charge. It allows you to input your battery type and choose a charging profile. Bluetooth connectivity lets you monitor the controller's settings and data from your smartphone or tablet using the Go Power Connect app. It is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

Lastly, the controller includes several built-in safety features to help protect your equipment. The charging process will shut down if the controller starts to overheat and when an overcurrent is detected. Also, if the battery or solar panel is wired incorrectly, it activates a reverse polarity alarm.

The system works great. About 9 months of use. I have a tiffin 45lp allegro bus all electric coach. I do not run ac or induction cooktop off batteries. Boondocking on a good sunny day my 6 210ah batteries are 100 percent charged by 1030 from the evening and night before. The system keeps up with my loads all day and by evening I have plenty of batteries for the night. We use all other appliances hair dryer starlink computers and tv

The sales team did a great job and continually checked on me until we received our order. They were very helpful with all my questions and concerns.

I finished the install, turned it on, all seemed to work well, then hurricane Ian hit and destroyed everything. Sorry can’t offer much of a review.

Shipped on time - The pallet was packaged very well. Nothing moved and all protected. Have not installed yet, panels and equipment look great. I see no problems with install.

by:

Service and shipping where great. Quality looks good also

by:

Shannon was a great help. Had it delivered 3 weeks earlier then expected.

Great package!

by:

A little hiccup in the shipping but Jenny was awesome to work with and got my system located and delivered. Very friendly and communicated with me until we resolved the issue. Everything arrived intact on a pallet and the driver even helped me load the individual boxes into my garage.

by:

This was a great DIY project. I will be able to boondock and have all the essentials. The inverter/charger was the best addition to my package. I can use a smaller generator because the inverter/charger has power sharing. This is a great feature.

by:

Buyer beware. The quality of the GoPower equipment I found to be very good. The performance of Etrailer, not so much. I ordered the kit "I thought" as presented in the Etrailer video for the same model motorhome I own. What I received was apparently an updated set of equipment that in no way installed as presented. Etrailer's response was "call GoPower." I found that an unsatisfactory solution and said so. I was told they would seek a solution and call me back but they never called. On inquiry I was told they were issuing a return. I suggested that rather than that expense and after talking directly with GoPower technical, if Etrailer could simply send me some wiring I could make the equipment work for me although with a significant amount of labor. Etrailer refused to do that. I ordered from an alternate source for the sum of some $xx what I needed to complete an installation. Bottom line is Etrailer offered a plug and play solution that was outdated relative to what they actually were selling and they took zero responsibility for it.

by:

We've had the AE-4 solar panel kit for a year now and have absolutely been loving using it. We hardly ever need to run our generator anymore, only when it's been cloudy for an extended period of time. The installation was pretty straightforward and didn't take that long. We would recommend this kit!

by:

A year later and everything is working as it should. This system is just enough for a residential fridge plus normal use to recover overnight by midday. I thought about adding a second one for winter months and when I'm oriented poorly for sun. In the summer Im back to 100% by noon, even with big 4 L-16HCL's.

by:

Great price for this kit. It came well packaged on a pallet and was delivered right into my garage by the driver. it will be more than enough for my 30 ft motorhome. I have not installed it yet bc I’m still gathering installation information and want to be absolutely sure I’m doing it right, hence the four stars. I have done business with etrailer before and have always gotten great support, so i i run into any issues, they are just a phone call away.

by:

Top quality product and delivered ahead of schedule. Good customer service. This is my second order from etrailer and they continue to impress.

by:

exactly what i needed

by:

the solar package for our RV was the best thing we ever could’ve done

  • Installing A Go-Power Solar Power System
The Go Power Solar AE-6 All Electric System with 2 MPPT Solar Controllers - 1,140 Watt Solar Panels Item # 342-75011 has to be wired to the battery bank and the battery bank to the inverter. If you wire straight to the inverter the solar controllers will not receive enough of a charge to function and the inverter will keep sending errors to the solar controller which will cause the system to stop. Go-Power recommends following the wiring diagram I've attached exactly how it is to ensure...
