Replaces the electric step, motor, and control unit for your Kwikee 28 series RV step. Motor and control unit automatically extend and retract the step when you open and close your door. Wiring pigtail hardwires to your RV's power.
Features:
Specs:
Note: This step assembly includes the steps, motor, and control unit only. The steps will operate automatically, extending when the RV door opens and retracting when the door closes.
If you want the complete step assembly that also allows you to override the automatic retraction so the steps stay out whether the door is open or closed, you will need a switch kit. The complete assembly with steps, motor, control unit, and switch kit is available under part number LC3747453.
The included 4-way plug fits into the existing wiring harness on your RV. Most vehicles should having this wiring already set up. In the event that your RV is missing the wiring, a 4-way pigtail is included to help you hardwire the unit to your RV.
The Kwikee steps include several safety features in an effort to prevent injury to you or your passengers and damage to the RV steps. If an obstruction is detected while extending, the steps will halt and retract back into the stowed position. The steps will also retract when you turn on the vehicles ignition, even if the automatic retraction override has been activated, in case you forget to stow them before driving away.
Will Kwikee Electric Steps Work for You?
Electric steps are typically installed on RVs and some travel trailers. The electric steps from Kwikee install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Kwikee electric steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the doorframe, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 24-3/4" wide and 8-5/8" deep.
If it turns out you have more or less space beneath your doorway, there are other step assemblies available with bracket sizes ranging from 24-3/4" wide to 37-1/4" wide. A full list of the available steps is below.
Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.
Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, plus 6" to 8" to account for the drop from the bottom step to the ground. This measurement will also tell you how many steps you need.
The chart below displays mounting bracket widths in the first column and entry height measurements in the second column. The third column shows the corresponding part numbers. Use the mounting bracket width and entry height measurements you took to determine which part number will fit your RV. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.
This page's step assembly is in bold text.

GEAT PRODUCT HAVE INSTALLED THIS ON SEVERAL COACHES FOR REPLACEMENT, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND EASY INSTALL, FAST SHIPPING
Step came quickly. Installation was easier than expected. With the help of a floor jack the job was complete in about 30 minutes.
Awesome step ! No more stool to fall off of !
etrailer shipped the step out fast !
Me and my wife just love it !
Thanks guy and gals at etrailer !
You have a customer for life !
We replaced a damaged step a year ago. The new one from etrailer has performed great! We really like working with etrailer.
Direct replacement. Perfect fit!
The steps arrived as expected. They are identical with the exception of the wire for the outdoor light. I have taken the old ones off but not put the new ones on. The person I spoke with was very helpful with the steps. Installation begins in the morning. I am only giving 4 stars due to the lack of instructions. I am having to find the links online. It could have made suggestions for making the project easier or something even though it appears to be quite simple.

the replacement steps have worked out very nicely.. they are a lower when extended, other than that perfect for the rv...
Still working exact fit
This step works great. I was very surprised that it worked for my rv. Thank you.
Everything that had to do with my purchase (customer support, delivery, product quality) was perfect. The only reason it did not get five stars is because there is no disclaimer that the motor in the steps have had their polarity reversed. in other words the steps will close when the door is opened, and open when the door is closed. There is a magnetic switch that also needs to be replaced, the new stitches are considered a Normally Open switch, some model motorhomes have Normally Closed switches installed at the factory just inside your screen door. They are simply a magnet that tells the control module wether the door is open or closed. Check before you order, etrailer carry them and are easy to install, just stinks having to pay shipping twice.
Purchased a replacement step for our 2 year old coach that was inoperative when we bought it slightly used. The original step was poorly maintained by the original owner and very erratic. The replacement was exactly as described, came with good instructions and has performed well this past year. Pricing from trailer was good and customer service excellent. Will shop them again when needed.
The replacement step is still working as expected. No problems.
Received my Kwikee Motorhome step today. It was replacing my 17 year old step that I had been having intermittent problems with recently.
It was a perfect replacement, plug and play, and I expect it will last me another 17 years.
Thanks etrailer!!

This was a like for like replacement for a ten year old one. The rivets which hold the step to the frame, wear over time, allowing a little slack between the two and a rattle underway. It always operated correctly.
I had to enlarge the mounting holes on the replacement step so they would accommodate the mounting bolt locations on my 2020 Thor Hurricane motorhome. Other than that the product worked great and installation was a breeze.
Purchased 28 series to replace 26 series, unfortunately mounting holes don’t match. Will require six mounting holes to be redrilled.
Our Customer Bought the Step Assembly to Help with Selling the RV - - I believe it was used More during Testing in the shop, then once it was home & after it was sold....
Great customer service and fast shipping. Product delivered as advertised.
I've ordered from etrailer in the past and, like those orders, their products are all of great quality. These Kwikee steps are well-manufactured and working with etrailer was very pleasant. They fully honored their price guarantee. I couldn't be happier and will order from them again.
Good price... delivered promptly...what more can one ask for. Kwikee steps well not so happy with them...I’m on my 3rd one in 3 years... although one was impacted by a large piece of asphalt on the road. Seal the wires going into controller will prevent moisture entering it... one failed due to that.
Product works great, but the best part of my experience was the how to video on your site. Watched the installation video with the best tips on installation and the change out was accomplished in less than an hour. Thanks for adding that value to the product. Well done.
First off shipping was fast. Recieved the step in 3 or 4 days rather than the estimated 12 days. Fit the original like a glove. Remove 4 bolts, replace, plug it in and back in business. Works great. The short YouTube video showing how to extend the step for easier installation was very helpful. Thanks etrailer.
One year update; Continues to operate flawlessly. It was a simple replacement, and continues to be one of the best upgrades I've done to our 2000 American Eagle motorhome.
So far it's been excellent when the weather's warm but it struggles when it's 20 degrees or below. I follow the instructions and keep it lubed but it could have a bit more torque.
