If you've ever stepped into a camper that has standard metal steps, you've probably felt that scary springboard effect that makes you reach for the handle. That bounce occurs because those pull-out steps never touch the ground. Fold-down steps have adjustable legs that steady the steps on the ground, so you can feel safe using them. Also, fold-down steps store behind your camper door, which means they aren't left out in the elements to rust or warp like factory steps.
But what makes these MORryde steps different from other fold-down steps, like the Lippert SolidSteps? The StepAbove has a couple advantages over the SolidStep.
First, the MORryde steps can be detached when you need park your camper in tight spots. If you have to park close to another vehicle in a storage lot, for example, there might not be enough clearance to deploy your steps. With SolidStep, this means that you can't deploy the steps and now they are blocking your entryway. MORryde steps can be easily detached by sliding the pins out of the floor hinges, which allows you to lift the steps out of the doorway so you can slip inside if needed.
Second, unlike the SolidSteps which have a solid backplate on the top step, the StepAbove has no backplates blocking the gaps between each step. This makes it easy to sweep the steps free of dirt and debris before folding them up in your doorway, so you aren't stuck cleaning up your entry after every hike or trip.
Fold-down steps are typically installed on travel trailers and 5th wheels. The fold-down steps from MORryde install inside your camper's door frame and lift up to latch into the doorway for storage. To ensure that you choose the correct size for your application, follow these 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Measure the Entry Height
Measure from the doorway threshold on your camper to the ground. For these steps to work, you will need an entry height between 30" and 33-1/2".
If you find that you have a smaller or larger entry height, there are other step assemblies that fit entry heights ranging from 25" to 42". (See table below.)
Step 2: Measure the Doorway Width
Measure from the inside of your door flange to the inside of the door flange on the opposite side. Your doorway will need to be between 27-3/4" wide and 30-1/4" wide for these steps to work.
If it turns out that you have a wider or narrower doorway, there are other step assemblies that fit doorways ranging from 21-3/4" wide to 30-1/2" wide. (See table below.)
Step 3: Measure the Threshold
Measure the rise of your threshold. The distance between the floor and top of the threshold must be between 5/8" and 3/4". If the height of your threshold is outside of this range, the doors may not close properly.
To allow room for the hinge plate, there must be a gap of at least 3/8" between the threshold and the bottom of the entry and screen doors. If the gap is too narrow, the doors may not close while the steps are down.
If, after taking your camper's measurements, you find that these steps will not work for you, use the table below to determine which part number you need.

Sturdy RV steps adjust to rough terrain, eliminating the springboard effect and providing a wobble-free step into your camper. Easily detach for parking in a tight spot. Fits a threshold-to-ground height between 30" and 33-1/2".We love these steps. They have met our expectations. They give solid support going in and out of our RV. Installation was easy with provided instructions.
Etrailer rocks! My order was shipped within hours of being placed and was delivered right on time. They were less expensive than that other big online retailer and offer fantastic technical support! Their install video made installation of the steps a 15-minute process and they are rock solid. I've been ordering from them for years and they are my go-to company for anything trailer or towing related.
Eric did a great job helping me select the exact part number that I needed to replace my old Windjammer steps. I am somewhat disappointed in the finish of the steps. Not sure if they expedited one of their quality processes to ship an order. I have displaced some of these issues in the attached pictures.
Tested them for fit today and all is well. In the attached photo the steps appear to be setting crooked, but that may be the result of the RV not setting level and / or on one side of the threshold there is what appears to be a zurk fitting that has to be remove so the top is not setting flat.
Just got back from a month long RV trip so this was the first time I had a chance to review this order. They delivered after we left for New England.

I hope you had fun on your New England trip! If the RV is not sitting level during the installation, that will definitely cause the steps to look unlevel. As for the finish on the steps, I am sorry that they do not look very good. We can definitely bring that up to the manufacturer for future reference. They are made out of aluminum, so the platforms are rustproof and scratch resistant. If you do have a scratch on there [I am not seeing any scratches in these pictures] please send me some pictures and I can definitely look further into that for you.
This is one of the best upgrades we have done to our trailer. It was easy to install, very stable, and A larger platform for going up and down. The legs are quick and easy to adjust. My only regret on this is not buying sooner and stopping the use of the original steps.
This is the second one of this type unit I have purchased over the years. And as before it was delivered quickly and the steps worked great.
Communication with the company was responded to promptly and satisfactory.
Solid piece of gear. Easy one man installation. Impressively engineered.
Excellent customer service. Sales personal are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend etrailer.
Installion was a breeze everything fit love it. need to mark where the hardware is located. Will be easier for mother-in-law to get in and out of trailer. Also will be easier for our morkie to get in and out
It is going to be a gift for my dad this holiday season. My brother in law has one for his trailer it is a game changer. No more small footed two step habby stairs on your way out. These steps are durable and have no bend under foot. My parents are in their 70s and this make me much happier to see them entering and exiting the trailer.
These steps are great. Very well constructed, sturdy, and easy to install.
Should have installed them a long time ago.
I really like these stairs. They were not meant for my RV, but I was able to make some small adjustments to my trailer, and they went right in. They are very stable. I would never go back to the old fold up stairs again.
We installed these stairs after I slipped off the old factory stairs and broke my ankle. These are some! Fairly easy to install, lightweight so I can put them up with ease, and they feel so secure. I wish we had known about these years ago!
The MORide steps are easy to install and are much more stable than the undercarriage type that are standard. They’re easy to level with one simple push of a button.
etrailer was great to deal with. Complete details on product purchased. MORyde Step is a great upgrade. Safe & sturdy.
Super easy process to get information and purchase. Great quantity an easy installation. Thanks.
Would be 5 stars but there was a little issue with the steps as shipped. Can't say enough good things about Amy J at etrailer. She handled my concerns promptly and professionaly. The stairs are exactly what I wanted and should last for the life of the trailer. Thanks etrailer!
Great quality.

Its been great, the camper is so much more stable. Easy to adjust to meet the ground conditions. The only drawback is in rainy weather you will need a towel to dry off some before closing up and locking in place inside the camper. But by storing inside camper there is never any mud or water spray on the steps from traveling. Overall this is one of the best upgrades we have made to our camper.
We had a wheel come off and destroy our folding steps. These new stairs are excellent. I had to do some minor cutting of the trim under the doorway that attaches the skirting on my fifth wheel, but it is likely , others would not have this type of trim. There are no instructions, so if you are not mechanical, you might want to hire someone. The installation is very simple, in most cases. These are so much sturdier than the OEM folding stairs. I highly recommend them. HOWEVER, if you are replacing under the door folding stairs, I highly recommend you also buy the storage box, or it will look like you have a big hole without it. I was worried about different slopes making the dimension to the ground unreliable. No worries. Morryde has considered that when they suggest the different stairs by dimension.
Great steps, however they won’t fit on my 2004 camper. Door and screen hit and with out extensive modification they won’t work. Very disappointed.

I am surprised to hear that the steps did not fit like they should. I would like to see if I can help. Would you be able to send pictures of where the door and screen are hitting? Did you have a chance to measure the rise of your threshold? It should measure between five eights and three fourths to allow the doors to close properly.
The first steps came in damaged. etrailer staff asked for info which I sent them and I had new steps before the damage were picked up. The step installed as per the instructions. Easy to install and works very well .
I like the functionality of the stairs. Much nicer than the old pull out style beneath the door previously on my trailer. Like any retrofit I had to modify things to make it fit and allow the door to close properly.
I would have given a higher rating but there was minor damage to the latch mechanism from shipping. The manufacturer needs to use better packaging to prevent this from happening.
Overall I am happy with the quality. I hope they perform well for years to come.
Steps were easy to install.
Received when promised. Product looks great. Etrailer is a great company to deal with.
