Revolutionary Stability

TorkLift's GlowStep Revolution RV steps offer the ultimate in stability and adjustability. You can adjust the stairs' height to account for any type of terrain using the easy-to-use release lever. The built-in landing gear legs let you fine-tune the height. And they can be adjusted independently of one another to stabilize the steps on uneven terrain, eliminating any wobble.

Will Torklift GlowStep Revolution Scissor Steps Work for You?

Pull-out steps are typically installed on travel trailers. The GlowStep Revolution pull-out steps from Torklift are easy to install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

Revolution Mounting

The GlowStep Revolution pull-out scissor steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the doorframe, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 27-1/2" wide and 13-7/8" deep.

If it turns out you have less space beneath your doorway, there are smaller step assemblies available with 25-1/2" wide brackets. A full list of the available steps is below.

Outrigger RV Steps

Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.

Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

Revolution Entry Height

To determine how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays entry height measurement ranges in the first column. If you determined you need a 25-1/2" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the second column. If you determined you need a 27-1/2" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the third column. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

This page's step assembly is in bold text.

46-1/2" - 60"TLA8106TLA8006

How Do You Install the Steps?

To install the steps:

  1. Make sure the camper is level on flat ground
  2. Lift the steps into the mounting space and prop into place

-Fully extend steps until feet touch the ground

  3. If needed, mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill

    -Set aside steps before drilling

  4. If needed, install the outriggers
  5. Align step mounting holes and secure in place with carriage bolts and flange lock nuts

-Make sure the bracket is backed up fully against the I-beam on the chassis

    -Hardware not included

  6. Tighten hardware until snug
  7. Make sure assembly is sitting square and level
  8. Torque the hardware tight

GlowStep Accessories

Torklift Accessories

Add any of these accessories to your Revolution scissor steps for stability, eliminating gaps, and keeping your steps and RV interior clean. The GlowGuide handrail (TLA7621 - sold separately) attaches to the outside of your RV and a bracket on the bottom of the steps. This helps to steady the assembly and adds 25 lbs to the weight capacity of the stairs. The SafeStep vinyl barrier (TLA7602 - sold separately) easily fastens with Velcro strips in between any 2 steps. This prevents you or your pets from accidentally slipping between steps. The DirtDestroyer boot brush (TLA7603 - sold separately) affixes to the bottom of the steps so you can scrape your shoes before climbing into your RV.

We are a retired full time RV couple with 2 dogs. We have disliked our OEM steps for @ 4 years, finally made the decision to upgrade to the Torklift. Both of us have fallen a couple of times off the OEM steps. We have a 2020 Grand Design 303 RLS, we used part A8004. Fit of the Torklift steps is perfect. I ordered the steps on a Friday, go them on a Tuesday. The box looked a little rough on the outside, everything on the inside was fine. The install took about an hour. The old steps came off easy, I ended up using 14 mm sockets and wrenches for both removal and install. I watched a few videos on YouTube and read the info from the Torklift website. The supplied hardware was great. My wife helped me, so we did the two person recommendation of the manual of extending the steps to the ground. I think that was easy and quicker than removing the torklift steps from their mount. We played around with the adjustments to find a setup for our current campsite. We move anywhere from 3x/week to monthly, so ease of use is very important. My wife really likes having 4 steps over 3, and I think it will be easier for my dogs as they age. The dogs adapted quickly to the new stairs. The Torklift steps are far more stable then the OEM they replaced, even with the aftermarket stabilizer legs we installed from Lippert. I wish we had done this sooner. This was an easy upgrade that we use all the time. I do like that that quick instructions are on the front of the step so if you need some "coaching" its right there for operating the steps.

by:

Took longer to remove old steps than to install scissor steps. One man job with screw jack and scrap 2X4s. Much easier to enter and exit trailer now. Wife is very happy for the upgrade!

by:

Great product! Easy to install and very sturdy on my Grand Design Reflection travel trailer! I am including before & after photos, and one including added step covers and extended handrail replacement.

by:

Rock Solid!!! Worth every penny.

Replaced
my trailer's original springboard steps that were flexing more and more. At first, I was concerned about fit. Reached out with measurements and received an A8004 recommendation for my 2010 Montana Mountaineer. Once installed I discovered I had more ground clearance than I had with the OEM steps. Not sure if it can be seen in the front on picture, the trailer frame lower than the bottom step in its stowed position. The adjustable top step is an absolute great invention.

Had to disassemble some of the sidings to the left and right of the step mounting brackets to get at the OEM mounting bolts. Space between factory brackets expanded almost 0.5 inches once OEM steps were removed. Had to stop and get spacers. Mounted the A8004 steps with spacers on each side. My wife assisted with aligning and balancing the new steps while I bolted them in. Ignoring the other prep work that had to be done, it took me about 1 hour to actually unbolt and remove the OEM steps and bolt in the new steps.

They are still rock solid!!!! The adjustable top step and adjustable feet have been used multiple times to compensate for a poorly designed site. Best upgrade Ive made to the trailer. If I ever buy another trailer these will be my first upgrade.

We are extremely pleased with the Torklift Glowstep Revolution (TLA8004). It is solidly built, easy to install, easy to operate, and a suitable price!

We are also extremely pleased with etrailer's customer service! Upon receipt of the new steps, we immediately noticed that one of the landing feet and one of the guide pins were bent. The shipping box did not show the type of damage that could have caused the problem.

I emailed etrailer, and within 24 hours they had gotten back to me and the replacement parts would be shipped shortly. This was all during the height of the COVID-19 virus shutdowns. About 7 days later the parts arrived and within 15 minutes I had the damaged parts replaced.

I am grateful for both etrailer and Torklift customer service. Both are exceptional!

After a year of full-time RV living and traveling, we remain extremely pleased. One would never know it has been used multiple times a day for a year. Defiantly worth it!

by:

Product arrived on time. All parts in the box and in excellent condition. Installation was a breeze. Fit was perfect. Thanks Amy J for getting us the right one that fit our 5th wheel. As always with etrailer great customer service and on time shipping and great products that work. Would highly recommend etrailer for all your DIY projects on your camper.

I bought the Glowstep revolution four step with landing gear.. I could not be more satisfied... took about 1hour to install by myself with the help of a floor jack, that includes removing the old steps..!! Delivery from etrailer.com was fast and free shipping.. great company to deal with.. I have included a couple of pictures of my new steps.. we love them..

After a year of a lot of use the steps still function as they did when new.. we love them...

I installed the steps on a 2019 Grand Design Reflection 311BHS. I was very pleased how easy it was to remove the old steps and install these new steps. I used the one person method described in the owners manual that came with the steps. Very easy. Being set on the ground will make these steps more stable, then the factory installed steps. I was also very impressed with etrailer. The steps were shipped the same day that I placed the order. I received them in a short period of time. I have always been impressed with ordering things from etrailer.

Great steps my wife and I like our steps very much. The best steps around.

by:

Would of gave 5 stars but the steps , arrived damaged, no fault of etrailer, probably Torklifts packing or the Shipper. Latches were bent so bad you couldn't even get the steps out and the frame was also bent and leaning to one side. A 2 pound sledge straightened things out but for almost $XXX you shouldn't have to fix it. Too big to mess with trying to send back but got it taken care of.

I know that you were able to make repairs to the steps however I will still have our customer service reach out to you. I am sure there is another solution that we can offer.

by:

Great product that was extremely easy to install! Having the extra step will make using our 5th wheel even more enjoyable as well as safer. Steps are rock solid without the bounce of the original steps.

Original steps were not very solid and the first step was often too high, making entry more difficult.... especially with bad knees!

I'm sure our two Beagles will love them too!

After using the steps for a year ...... I am even more convinced that these steps are the best RV investment we ever made! They are so solid, easily adjustable and stable, I dont know why anyone would purchase anything else.....and yes I have tried the other brands!!

by:

Installed in less than a half hour!!
One
thing I would recommend, is to not take the unit apart as the instructions tell you to.
Simply use a floor jack with a 2x4 on top of it to lower down your old unit and raise the new unit will save much time--not taking your brand new unit apart!!
Also if you have pets installing carpet on the steps will save their feet from getting burnt in the summertime-that aluminum is going to get very very hot

One year update Unit has performed flawlessly! No matter how tall your rig is, if you have all their pets I would definitely recommend more steps instead of fewer that way when you fold it out the step height will be easier for them. Also I had to attach carpet with springs on the back side of the steps so the pets would not fall through when theyre coming up. The only thing I would absolutely recommend, is a longer handrail.. I saw one the other day that folds up to the side of the trailer and extends down about 40 in. Look for my review of that after I purchase.

by:

Install was easy though I did have to drill two holes in the existing brackets to clear bolts on the steps. This is mentioned as a possibility in the directions. If doing the install alone take the steps off the frame as noted in the directions for ease of install. Steps are sturdy as shown in numerous videos. The adjustments are easy for both the top and bottom. The only thing I'm wondering is if the two plastic catch doohickeys are supposed to be bent down as visible in the photos. I replaced a 3 step set with these because they were very bouncy and my old dog had a hard time negotiating the steep steps.

Andy profile picture

Everyone who sees and uses these steps love them. The two catch pieces were a bit bent but were easy to straighten and have caused no problems. After a year of use I would not hesitate to recommend these steps.

by:

these steps are awesome. Very adjustable don't need to worry about the hard sidestep swing if your door opens these steps will be able to be used.

by:

Installation was simple and straight forward. It fit my Open Range like a glove. All things included i spent 1.5 hours start to finish (one person) I am very pleased with the operation of the steps. I have only had it on a smooth and solid surface but I can see the adjustability in the steps will fit any surface.

I dont regret purchasing these steps. They are still as solid as they were a year ago. They are not as easy and quick to deploy as the original swing down steps if you just need to quickly put something in the trailer but they are much better when entering and exiting while your camping. Nice solid feel and I havent had any problems adapting them to different camping sitessurfaces I will have these on future trailers

by:

We love the TorkLift Glow Step... Great quality... Well worth the money!
We replaced our old 3 step fold down with this TorkLift 4 Step model about a year ago. It was an easy install and took about an hour to take the old fold down steps off and install the new TorkLift steps.
These Steps are much more stable and really great for seniors! Our little Chi Weenie dog loves it too.. He would not even attempt to go up or down the old steps and we had to pick him up to put him in and out of the trailer... Now he just scampers up and down these new steps like he owns the place.. Which he does... :<)

by:

The Torklift Glowsteps are GREAT, but it took 2 weeks from the time I ordered them to install the steps. Don't let that scare you. I'm 68, was working by myself, and have been disabled for 29 years, and I doubt anyone else will experience all the difficulties I did to buy, have delivered, and install the steps. I measured according to Torklift and etrailer instructions, and ordered the 4-step, 27 1/2-inch frame TLA8004 from etrailer, because that was the width of the original steps' frame. I also ordered the TLA8022 Vertical Stud Adapter Kit. When the steps arrived, the UPS driver had the step box sitting on what was the top, because the bottom had become completely un-taped during shipment. The steps and their frame were still in the box, but the owner's manual, installation instructions, warranty card, and hardware kit were not. The Stud Adapter Kit was in its own separate box, and was intact. While the steps were here, using a wood platform I built, I lifted them up into our trailer's step well with a floor jack to check the fit. That's when the REAL nightmare began. We had an industry-standard 27 1/2-inch step frame on the original steps, but the manufacturer had placed both the vertical studs in the floor at a steep angle, instead of perfectly vertical. The factory had bent the original step brackets to make the original suspended steps fit the brackets. But the Glowstep frame fits MUCH higher up, next to the floor, and there was no way the 27 1/2-inch Glowstep frame was going to work with those angled studs and our narrow step well. So when they reshipped another set of steps, I asked etrailer to replace the steps with the TLA8104 4-step (same price), which has a 25 1/2-inch-wide frame. I also ordered the TLA8020 Spacer KIt to use with the TLA8104. Problems like the shipping snafu and the stud problem are why I deal with etrailer, and my previous order history with the company is about an arm's length! Hally C. , Lisa D., and John R. were all VERY helpful in helping me to resolve my problems. They contacted UPS to pick up the original steps at my home (after I repacked and solidly retaped the box). In 2 days, UPS picked up the original steps (I kept the stud adapter kit). Next day, UPS delivered another set of Glowsteps with 25 1/2-inch frame, this time with an etrailer box stapled COMPLETELY around the Glowsteps box, and VERY securely stapled with 111 BIG staples!! Then the fun began. Due to disabilities and medications I take I can't be exposed to high heat for long, or I will pass out and/or be unable to walk into the house to cool off, and our heat index in Central Texas has been running in the +100 degree range. Actual temperatures in our metal RV garage have been running 110-117 or more from noon to about midnight. I had to make some small modifications in order for the step frame to fit on the angled (non-) vertical studs on our trailer. I do NOT recommend anyone else modify ANYTHING. But I was determined to get us some premium steps that were easier to climb at our ages, and warranty was NOT one of my concerns. In our tight RV garage we CANNOT use the pivoting steps that store inside that are becoming popular. The Glowsteps were our only option, so I HAD to make them fit. These steps are built like a tank anyway, so I can't imagine ever needing the warranty, only insurance, if the steps are damaged by some outside force. I still had spacing difficulty, so I ended up having to straighten the factory-installed step brackets that the factory workers had bent, and drill them to match the mounting holes in the Glowstep frame. Then I had to paint the bare metal exposed by the work I had to do. When I finally finished all this, and jacked the step frame up into the step well, everything fit perfectly, and I had access to all the hardware. Tight clearance between our trailer side and the RV garage wall is the reason we could not consider the pivoting steps which pivot up and store inside the doorway, and I'm glad to say that even though we can't extend the Glowsteps out all the way due to the metal framing of the garage wall, the steps are rock solid and can be easily and safely used in just about any position. I have bad knees, and my wife has a bad hip, and the difference these steps make in allowing us easy entry and exit from our trailer is like the difference between night and day from the original shaky, suspended factory steps. My wife's sister and 94-year-old mother have their own trailer and camp with us, and even my M-I-L can easily get in and out of our trailer now, with the Glowsteps. She has never liked having to climb into our trailer with the original steps, even with a folding platform at the bottom. The "rise" on our steps was just too much for many of us. She does have to use the assist handle on the wall for balance with the Glowsteps, but she has to do that on any trailer, even my niece's 5th-wheel, which has the pivoting, store-inside-the-door steps. The Glowsteps are NOT inexpensive, and I had no idea of the trouble I was about to run into in installing them, due to the angled (non) vertical studs installed on our trailer at the factory, and the limited space in our enclosed step well. But now that the blood, sweat, and tears are behind me and the Glowsteps are installed, I don't think that my wife and I will EVER regret making this upgrade to our trailer, which is our preferred (and ONLY) recreation, that we've enjoyed immensely for 45 years! THANK YOU, ETRAILER, and THANK YOU, HALLY C., LISA D., AND JOHN R. YOU ARE LIFESAVERS!!

Ordered the product on Monday, installed it today. I had removed the old steps before UPS came and installed the new ones in about 20 minutes in my driveway. Definitely a quality product. Here are before and after pictures. The factory steps were damaged and unsafe, the new Glow steps are safe and sturdy.

Fantastic, I love these steps. They should come as an option on all new campers.

by:

Excellent product. Replaced existing 3 step that came on 5th wheel. It wobbled whenever anyone went in or out, last year the bottom step let go on one side. It just has a little tab that pushed back in, I bent the tab back out and it held till I could buy new steps. Spent many hours researching new steps and decided the glowstep was what I wanted. Best thing I have done to the rig yet! I highly recommend anyone looking for new steps take a good look at Glowstep Revolution, a little pricey but well worth it.
The safety and peace of mind makes it all worth while. It took my son and I about an hour to remove the old steps and install the GlowStep. So much easier going up and down, the rise of the steps is so much more comfortable than the old ones.

by:

The new stairs installed fairly easy, I could use two of the old upper bolts and welded two tangs to the trailer frame then drilled a 3/8 hole and bolted both bottom corners to the tangs.
The stairs have adjustments for any ground angles we have parked the RV on this year. The stairs are a bit pricey but well worth it !

by:

Perfect fit, easy installation (one person < 1 hour) on a Grand Design Reflection 337 RLS. Steps have been adjustable to match every different campsite terrain we have been on over the past year. Best of all there is no more "diving board bounce" whenever someone leaves the RV. It's a great upgrade from factory!

Outstanding Etrailer experience! Item was delivered as promised. Installation could not have been easier. Four bolts and the old steps were out. Used the same mounting holes to install the new Torklift Glowsteps. It was a one man job using a floor jack to raise to new steps into place. Installed on a Thursday after work and left Friday morning for a weekend camping trip. The new steps could not have worked better. Very solid solid and the adjustability is a nice touch for those uneven sites. So far very impressed and happy with the purchase. Will update with long term experience.

Exactly as described and what we wanted. We have purchased from etrailer before and this experience was excellent , as were the rest! Also, we have used Torklift products before and this is a quality product as well. Transaction was fast, shipping was fast and the install was easy and came with all the parts and was well packaged to avoid damage during shipping.

Easy installation like everyone says, makes alot of difference stepping up into RV. (5thW)
Strongly recommend to anyone looking for steps.
Measure twice, and ask if you're unsure about size.
Changed to bigger screws for own preference.

Since your entry height is 34 inches and your current stops are 27.5 inches wide you'd want the Torklift GlowStep part # TLA8004. Even if you could get away with the three step version it would be easier to climb up the four steps since they would be spaced closer together.

  • TorkLift Glowstep Revolution Size Selection
Since you have the 27" wide entryway, the only additional thing we need to know is the "Entry Height." The attached photo will show you how to measure from the top mounting point to the ground. From there use the attached chart. For instance if your entry height was 38" high, then you would use # TLA8004. Watch this though: If your entry height was 36" then you could use # TLA8004 or # TLA8003. The steps for taller entryways will extend out further. The steps for shorter entryways...

  • Larger Mounting Options for Lippert Steps
Good news, I can help you find a wider step than the 24 inch LC341504. I've linked all the steps for you but if you look through the filters there should be a measurement column and there are sizes from 14 inches to 30 inches wide. The Lippert Steps are made for RVs which is why they are the 24 inch wide spread. I have something similar that may work for you that has brackets that have a variety of widths. The TorkLift Glow Step has a variety of steps like the # TLA7803-8000 that is...

You would need the GlowStep Revolution Scissor Step for it to store under the Grand Design like what you have now. I recommend TorkLift GlowStep Revolution part # TLA8004 for the Grand Design Reflection. Torklift has told us that the TLA8004 replaces the 3 step assembly on the Grand Design campers. However, I do...

You can use the parts in this kit to replace your broken parts or replace an entire step. If you have the 27-7/16" mounting base model...

When replacing steps on a 5th wheel trailer you will want to stay with the same number of steps unless going to more steps retains the same retracted dimensions of your existing steps. For aftermarket steps there is no fit information in regards to specific trailers. You would have to go by the measurements. TorkLift steps # TLA8004 have a mounting base that is 27-7/16 inches wide and 12 inches deep. When retracted the steps hang down 16-17 inches from where they mount. The 3-step model,...

  • Difference Between Glowstep Stow n Go Steps and Revolution Steps
Essentially it's how the two scissor steps store. The part # TLA7844 stores more like a traditional scissor step seen typically at the back of truck bed campers while the # TLA8004 stores more like what is seen on the side of campers. Since you have a Grand Design Reflection 337rls the part # TLA8004 would be the better option.
