Revolutionary Stability

TorkLift's GlowStep Revolution RV steps offer the ultimate in stability and adjustability. You can adjust the stairs' height to account for any type of terrain using the easy-to-use release lever. The built-in landing gear legs let you fine-tune the height. And they can be adjusted independently of one another to stabilize the steps on uneven terrain, eliminating any wobble.

Will Torklift GlowStep Revolution Scissor Steps Work for You?

Pull-out steps are typically installed on travel trailers. The GlowStep Revolution pull-out steps from Torklift are easy to install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

Revolution Mounting

The GlowStep Revolution pull-out scissor steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the doorframe, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 25-1/2" wide and 13-7/8" deep.

If it turns out you have more space beneath your doorway, there are larger step assemblies available with 27-1/2" wide brackets. A full list of the available steps is below.

Outrigger RV Steps

Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.

Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

Revolution Entry Height

To determine how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays entry height measurement ranges in the first column. If you determined you need a 25-1/2" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the second column. If you determined you need a 27-1/2" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the third column. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

This page's step assembly is in bold text.

How Do You Install the Steps?

To install the steps:

  1. Make sure the camper is level on flat ground
  2. Lift the steps into the mounting space and prop into place

-Fully extend steps until feet touch the ground

  3. If needed, mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill

    -Set aside steps before drilling

  4. If needed, install the outriggers
  5. Align step mounting holes and secure in place with carriage bolts and flange lock nuts

-Make sure the bracket is backed up fully against the I-beam on the chassis

    -Hardware not included

  6. Tighten hardware until snug
  7. Make sure assembly is sitting square and level
  8. Torque the hardware tight

GlowStep Accessories

Torklift Accessories

Add any of these accessories to your Revolution scissor steps for stability, eliminating gaps, and keeping your steps and RV interior clean. The GlowGuide handrail (TLA7621 - sold separately) attaches to the outside of your RV and a bracket on the bottom of the steps. This helps to steady the assembly and adds 25 lbs to the weight capacity of the stairs. The SafeStep vinyl barrier (TLA7602 - sold separately) easily fastens with Velcro strips in between any 2 steps. This prevents you or your pets from accidentally slipping between steps. The DirtDestroyer boot brush (TLA7603 - sold separately) affixes to the bottom of the steps so you can scrape your shoes before climbing into your RV.

Video Transcript for FAQ Trailer Step Measuring

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna go over some details and the measurements that you're gonna need to take if you're wanting to replace your fifth wheel or your travel trailer steps. If you're looking to replace your motor home or your RV steps, we're gonna have a separate video made just for that. Now, a couple of reasons why you might want to replace your steps. One of the biggest reasons is because people don't like these pull out steps because they're uncomfortable and makes for a not pleasant experience on the inside of the camper if they're folded out because they hover above the ground. When somebody steps on 'em, it rocks the whole camper.

So that might be a reason why you wanna upgrade from the pullout style steps to the fold out style which will fold up into the door of your camper. The nice part about the fold out is that they're going to be rested on the ground, so all the weight from the person walking into the camper is gonna be pushing on the ground and not pulling on the side of the camper. With that being said, a lot of people like this style because it's not gonna take up space on the inside of your door. So regardless of which kind you would like to go with, there's gonna be different measurements for each. There's gonna be a measurement for the pullout style if you wanna replace just the steps you have outside already.

And then there's gonna be different measurements for the fold up style, to be able to measure, you know, you're gonna have to measure from the ground to the inside and then side to side in the door. So, it's gonna be different because they're gonna be located in a different spot. Now, here we have a different set of pull down camper steps. The reason why I switched from my camper to these is because my camper, the bracket's actually welded in. If that's the case, you're just gonna have to cut it out.

But the reason we're showing you here is because these are bolted on and I'll be able to give you the proper measurements to replace 'em. So, first measurement you need to take is from this bracket, the bracket that's actually attached to your camper, not the step bracket, from the inside to the inside of these two brackets, which for us here is gonna be 27.5. And then what you need to do is you need to measure the depth of this bracket. So from this outer edge here to the trailer frame. Good for that.

We get about 13 and 3/8. And then the last measurement is from the ground. Now you wanna make sure you're on level ground and your camper is level from the ground to this bolt right here on the outside. So that. we're getting about 26 and 1/4. Now, if you're looking to upgrade to a set of fold-down steps that actually store inside of your camper, the two measurements that you need to take is from inside flange to inside flange, not the inside of the actual door frame, because it's gonna need to fit in between these flanges. So for us measure right up against there and we get about 24.5. You can see there. The other measurement we need to take is from the ground, again, being on level ground from the ground to the top inside of the threshold itself. So for us, it's going to be about 35. And the last thing that you need to do is you need to match up the measurements that you've taken, whether you're replacing your steps that came on your camper or you're replacing them and upgrading to the fold up type. You just need to match up those measurements to the measurements on our product page for the steps that you're looking for. Well, guys, hopefully this information was helpful in helping you to find the right information and the right measurements you need to replace your camper steps. If you have any questions, please leave 'em in comments below and we'll see you next time..

We have a unique situation with our truck camper sitting on a flatbed, rather than in a standard truck bed. We sit quite a bit higher and needed the 6 step Glowsteps. Because we are so high, we could have used a 7th step but that was not an option at the time. We added extra long legs, a foot stool and an extra long handle bar to aid in getting in the rig. We also added some carpet strips to help with tracking dirt into the camper The steps have been great! There are multiple options for leveling the top step, the steps have some flex to them but we feel safe on them. We are able to get them in and out of the locked position easily. They were a great solve to our problem.

I can't believe how fast the delivery was... only 2 days... had them installed in about an hour by myself... instructions were very good and plenty of supplied hardware.... Thank you so much !!! I has supplied photos of the completed work... please note that the Roo is sitting in my sloping driveway with the hitch all the way to the ground and the rear is as high as it would EVER be... so these are the perfect fit. I also want to thank Dave Osterstuck at Anglin RV in Otto NC who had these steps on display. Dave had to have me go direct to Torklift in order to purchase this product. It is a shame that the rep put these on display in his store but he is not able to reach the rep or order from the rep catalog so he gets nothing from Torklift for carrying the display. Kudos to Dave at Anglin RV

We are a retired full time RV couple with 2 dogs. We have disliked our OEM steps for @ 4 years, finally made the decision to upgrade to the Torklift. Both of us have fallen a couple of times off the OEM steps. We have a 2020 Grand Design 303 RLS, we used part A8004. Fit of the Torklift steps is perfect. I ordered the steps on a Friday, go them on a Tuesday. The box looked a little rough on the outside, everything on the inside was fine. The install took about an hour. The old steps came off easy, I ended up using 14 mm sockets and wrenches for both removal and install. I watched a few videos on YouTube and read the info from the Torklift website. The supplied hardware was great. My wife helped me, so we did the two person recommendation of the manual of extending the steps to the ground. I think that was easy and quicker than removing the torklift steps from their mount. We played around with the adjustments to find a setup for our current campsite. We move anywhere from 3x/week to monthly, so ease of use is very important. My wife really likes having 4 steps over 3, and I think it will be easier for my dogs as they age. The dogs adapted quickly to the new stairs. The Torklift steps are far more stable then the OEM they replaced, even with the aftermarket stabilizer legs we installed from Lippert. I wish we had done this sooner. This was an easy upgrade that we use all the time. I do like that that quick instructions are on the front of the step so if you need some "coaching" its right there for operating the steps.

by:

I love these new steps! They are very stable, and they're easy to use in a variety of situations, just as described in the ads and videos. They are well made of excellent quality materials. And the design that allows for variation in the distance from the door sill to the ground and for use in tight spaces is genius. Thanks for a great product that meets my needs.

In a separate review of the Spacer Kits I used to install my Glow-Step Revolution I detail a minor bump in the installation process that can be easily rectified, but that in no way detracts from my satisfaction with the steps themselves.

by:

These steps are the best addition ever to our 5th wheel (except for the Truma tankless water heater). A snap to use, and a solid grounding.

by:

Rock Solid!!! Worth every penny.

Replaced
my trailer's original springboard steps that were flexing more and more. At first, I was concerned about fit. Reached out with measurements and received an A8004 recommendation for my 2010 Montana Mountaineer. Once installed I discovered I had more ground clearance than I had with the OEM steps. Not sure if it can be seen in the front on picture, the trailer frame lower than the bottom step in its stowed position. The adjustable top step is an absolute great invention.

Had to disassemble some of the sidings to the left and right of the step mounting brackets to get at the OEM mounting bolts. Space between factory brackets expanded almost 0.5 inches once OEM steps were removed. Had to stop and get spacers. Mounted the A8004 steps with spacers on each side. My wife assisted with aligning and balancing the new steps while I bolted them in. Ignoring the other prep work that had to be done, it took me about 1 hour to actually unbolt and remove the OEM steps and bolt in the new steps.

We are extremely pleased with the Torklift Glowstep Revolution (TLA8004). It is solidly built, easy to install, easy to operate, and a suitable price!

We are also extremely pleased with etrailer's customer service! Upon receipt of the new steps, we immediately noticed that one of the landing feet and one of the guide pins were bent. The shipping box did not show the type of damage that could have caused the problem.

I emailed etrailer, and within 24 hours they had gotten back to me and the replacement parts would be shipped shortly. This was all during the height of the COVID-19 virus shutdowns. About 7 days later the parts arrived and within 15 minutes I had the damaged parts replaced.

I am grateful for both etrailer and Torklift customer service. Both are exceptional!

by:

Took longer to remove old steps than to install scissor steps. One man job with screw jack and scrap 2X4s. Much easier to enter and exit trailer now. Wife is very happy for the upgrade!

by:

The entire step purchase was Great ! Order arrived quickly and was packaged very well. The installation was on our lance 2285 and couldn’t have been any easier. After removing the old the install took 5 minutes. No drilling or modification needed , 4 bolts lined up perfectly. Quality of the steps was second to none. We originally purchased a step that lifted into doorway , halfway through the install realized entry screen door needed modifying , didn’t like that idea. Also did not care for steps folding into camper. Returned to vendor and purchased the Tork Lift Revolution from etrailer and couldn’t be happier with new steps.

by:

I bought the Glowstep revolution four step with landing gear.. I could not be more satisfied... took about 1hour to install by myself with the help of a floor jack, that includes removing the old steps..!! Delivery from etrailer.com was fast and free shipping.. great company to deal with.. I have included a couple of pictures of my new steps.. we love them..

by:

Great product! Easy to install and very sturdy on my Grand Design Reflection travel trailer! I am including before & after photos, and one including added step covers and extended handrail replacement.

by:

Bought a new Lance RV, Model 1995. The steps were horrible. Installed the Glowstep Revolution steps and it made a world of difference. I installed them myself in under an hour following the instructions and using a small jack to hold the frame up while I bolted the steps to my RV. Had to use the two enclosed spacers but the installation was a cinch. Couldn't be happier with the steps and with the assistance from etrailer which is a great company with terrific support.

by:

I installed the steps on a 2019 Grand Design Reflection 311BHS. I was very pleased how easy it was to remove the old steps and install these new steps. I used the one person method described in the owners manual that came with the steps. Very easy. Being set on the ground will make these steps more stable, then the factory installed steps. I was also very impressed with etrailer. The steps were shipped the same day that I placed the order. I received them in a short period of time. I have always been impressed with ordering things from etrailer.

by:

Product arrived on time. All parts in the box and in excellent condition. Installation was a breeze. Fit was perfect. Thanks Amy J for getting us the right one that fit our 5th wheel. As always with etrailer great customer service and on time shipping and great products that work. Would highly recommend etrailer for all your DIY projects on your camper.

by:

Excellent set of stairs! I am very pleased. It required some creativity to install them on my 2014 Airstream but they look and work great! I highly recommend them.

by:

Would of gave 5 stars but the steps , arrived damaged, no fault of etrailer, probably Torklifts packing or the Shipper. Latches were bent so bad you couldn't even get the steps out and the frame was also bent and leaning to one side. A 2 pound sledge straightened things out but for almost $XXX you shouldn't have to fix it. Too big to mess with trying to send back but got it taken care of.

by:

Great product that was extremely easy to install! Having the extra step will make using our 5th wheel even more enjoyable as well as safer. Steps are rock solid without the bounce of the original steps.

Original steps were not very solid and the first step was often too high, making entry more difficult.... especially with bad knees!

I'm sure our two Beagles will love them too!

by:

Installation - husband and wife over 60 were able to remove old steps and install new one in just over an hour!! We were able to install using a small floor jack at our RV storage area. Probably would have been easier to install in our driveway and not on the dirt. Just so excited to get rid of the old saggy steps.

by:

Install was easy though I did have to drill two holes in the existing brackets to clear bolts on the steps. This is mentioned as a possibility in the directions. If doing the install alone take the steps off the frame as noted in the directions for ease of install. Steps are sturdy as shown in numerous videos. The adjustments are easy for both the top and bottom. The only thing I'm wondering is if the two plastic catch doohickeys are supposed to be bent down as visible in the photos. I replaced a 3 step set with these because they were very bouncy and my old dog had a hard time negotiating the steep steps.

by:

Installation was simple and straight forward. It fit my Open Range like a glove. All things included i spent 1.5 hours start to finish (one person) I am very pleased with the operation of the steps. I have only had it on a smooth and solid surface but I can see the adjustability in the steps will fit any surface.

  • Determining Which Torklift Glowstep Fits 2021 Grand Design Transcen XPLOR 200MK
Hey Rad, it comes down to what the door threshold height is of your camper which Torklift Glowstep would be correct for you. If the entry height is between 25-1/2 inches and 36 the part # TLA8103 would be correct. Here are the other height ranges if this doesn't work for you. 18-1/2" - 28" # TLA8102 25-1/2" - 36" # TLA8103 32-1/2" - 44" # TLA8104 39-1/2" - 52" # TLA8105 46-1/2" - 60" # TLA8106

  • How to Pick Out Torklift Glowstep for 2018 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS
The trick to picking out a Torklift GlowStep for an RV is to base it off of the height of the door on the RV. If the doorway height is between 32-1/2 inches and 44 inches the part # TLA8104 is the correct fit. Most likely this is what you'd need but let's say you needed a shorter option the part # TLA8103 is for height range 25-1/2" - 36" and part # TLA8105 is for doorway height range of 39-1/2" - 52".
