Hasn't failed yet. Only issue is it is bulky to pack. Status lights a real help.

Still working as designed. A little clumsy to pack and store but electronically does the job.

@Ronald Glad to hear the # CAM55301 RV Power Defender is working well for you!

etrailer has become my new "GoTo" company for my RV needs. My Camco 30 Amp surge protector was here in two days. and we use it this weekend. It worked as advertised, but that is what you would expect from Camco. The etrailer price was lower than any place else, including other sites.

Still very pleased with the Camco surge protector. We use it at every site that we stay. We camp at a lot of COE parks, some of which have been around for awhile. Given the age of some of the COE infrastructure, at least we know our electronics and appliances arent going to be fried.

by:

Great price , no disappointments. This a quality unit. Rather large but after the first time using it got use to it. Works great as advertised. I used a quality bike cable lock to secure this to the RV park post ( for security reasons) this is a investment that I want to protect like my RV and electrical system ,etc. After doing much research about a surge protectors I realized that this would be valuable tool for protection from electronic /electrical problems saving me a ton of money and down time use of my RV. The unit constantly diagnosis the in coming power and has easy to understand led lights. I would highly recommend this product. etrailer prices were great, shipping is as always fast and packaged carefully as with all my purchases from them .

by:

The Camco RV Power Defender has been great for me. Twice it has saved the electrical system in my motorhome so it has more than paid for itself. Contractors get in a hurry and wire outlets sometimes with reverse polarity, unaware to campsite owners and campers. This can cause a short in your RV and a shock potential when you think appliances are turned off and they still have a live current running through them. I would highly recommend this product .
E-Trailer sells these at an affordable price so there is no reason not to have one to protect your RV from costly repairs.

by:

Works great and the best price and service. etrailer has great customer service so you always get the right parts.

No problems works great

by:

I have used the surge protector at RV sites and at home. I can be assured my Roadtrek is protected against faulty wiring and power surges. It is easy to use, and ruggedly built.

by:

Bigger than I thought it would be...which I judge to be a plus, especially when dealing with electrical power types of things. Looks rugged. I plugged it into my backyard power supply (I keep my camper in my backyard) and everything lit up like it was supposed to. Of course the real test is "under fire" when it is needed in a bad power situation at a campground...which I hope never happens. Fast delivery. Packaging was a bit overkill, but ....

by:

Possibly too sensitive. I was at a site and it kept resetting, knocking out the Air conditioner in late June in Houston.
Gives good peace of mind and I've used it at every other site since.
It's a sizeable and heavy piece of equipment.

by:

Writing a great review for etrailer is so easy. Fast delivery. Great products. Fantastic prices. Everything I have purchased has been terrific. I am completely satisfied and I would gladly recommend etrailer to anyone. The camco rv power defender voltage monitor is just what I was looking for.

by:

We have used this product now for 30 days in over a dozen different state parks and commercial RV parks. It has worked exactly as advertised. There have been no problems with the product.

This product gives us the peace of mind and reassurance that the electrical system, appliances and electronics in our camper are safe and protected from electrical spikes, surges, and out of range voltage variations.

A quality product and valuable insurance.

by:

Received my product yesterday. I'm excited about using it to protect my 5th wheel camper. Ill be going out in a couple of weeks. Great transaction and quick delivery time (3 days.) Thanks George and the rest of your team for providing great products. I truly appreciate you taking care of us budget conscious consumers.

by:

Had another brand that I purchased from [camping retailer]. When it went dead after only 2 years (and only 8 camping trips) I called the manufacturer who said [camping retailer] had sold me a "sitting in the warehouse" old outdated product....which could not be fixed.
Very happy with my new Camco power protector. Will always shop at etrailer first.

by:

Works very well. Has gone through several power service interruptions with no issues.
Glad we researched these for the camper. Even though it costs a bit more than others it certainly is worth it for a one time purchase to protect your investment.

by:

Have used it to monitor and protect my Airstream from electrical surges, etc. at campgrounds and private residences across both the USA and Canada without any mishaps or issues. It’s easy to use and does what it’s supposed to at a reasonable cost!

by:

As always etrailer is top notch with great service. Have not had time to use the CAM55301 power defender yet ,but will be using for the next two weeks. Sure it will work fine. THANK ETRAILER YOU ARE ALL THE GREATEST!!!!!!

by:

Satisfied. Work as advertised.
It is
sturdy, well made, dropped it a few times and still works. Used it near freezing temperatures and kept working. It saved me from a bad campground electric setup once. Doesn't require special care or handling, I keep it in my truck bed.

by:

Just got back from my first camping trip. used the surge protector, worked great. Had to figure out how it worked in the beginning to turn it on I had a problem with my camper's outlet kicking off to many things plug in at the same time. Once I iron out the bugs, I had no more problems I would recommend this product Thank you

by:

This thing is HUGE !! Hope the power pole at the camp grounds will hold it. :) Looks like it is a very well made unit. I won"t know until spring when we start camping. Very friendly and fast service. Have bought from these people before and nothing but good to say. Will continue to in the future also. Thanks eTrailer and Ashley.

by:

Worth every penny!. Use it every time power is hooked to TV wether at rv park or at home on generator. Works everytime as it should

by:

this was backordered and etrailer did me the favor of expediting delivery just as soon as they received the item because I needed it before departing on a trip with my trailer. THANKS!!! Great customer service!

by:

Camco Voltage protector worked works good

Found
unit at lower price and etrailer Low Price Guarantee worked well
I will be getting all my trailer needs from them if they offer what I need

Thanks

by:

I have used the power defender several times. It is easy to install and had given me peace of mind. I highly recommend it

by:

Very easy to use product. Have already put it to use on a camping trip. It shut down once during a voltage drop and restored power when voltage was restored. Well worth the money.

Still working great. I would recommend this product to anyone with a traveler trailer or RV.

by:

A power surge can happen anytime and you absolutely need to protect your substantial RV investment with the appropriate rated surge protector. I trust CAMCO products and etrailer is an excellent sourcing partner that I've relied on for years.

by:

I have not had any damage to electronics or anything else since I started using this unit and there has been a few power outages and surges of power off then on again quickly which is usually when the voltage spikes would occur and possibly cause the damage.

  • Joules of Surge Protection for the Camco Voltage Defender
I spoke to my contact at Camco and he informed me that the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Analyzer # CAM55310 that you referenced offers 1,050 joules of surge protection but it's primary function is to determine if a power outlet/pedestal is wired correctly. For more voltage protection you may be more interested in the # CAM55301 that offers 2,450 joules of protection or the part # CAM55306 that provides 3,850 joules of protection. For your 30 Amp trailer you will want the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor - 30 Amp # CAM55301. This will monitor voltage and automatically disconnect when dangerous levels are detected and then reconnect when voltage stabilizes. This is a great option to allow protection from multiple surges. You may want to consider the Camco Power Grip Cable with Lock # CAM44290 to secure your investment. If you were to use a 50 amp unit, then there could be spikes that could damage your...

  • Will Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor Work with a 30 Amp to 15 Amp Adapter
It depends on where you are using the adapter. The Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor # CAM55301 has to plug into a 30 amp service outlet so it can properly monitor the input voltage. The use of an adapter between the 30 amp panel and the monitor could provide inaccurate readings. If the input coming in is accurately monitored and then you adapted it on the outgoing side to the RV then that would be fine.

  • Does 50 Amp RV Need to Have 30 Amp Surge Protection Using 30 Amp Power
If you power your 50 amp service RV with 30 amp power you'll be fine as long as you are aware that your amperage is not lower than normal which means you won't be able to run as many electricity power accessories at any given time. The surge protector is for protecting the wiring of your RV though so there's no reason you'd have to go down to a 30 amp protector. Your RV can handle up to 50 amps so there's nothing that's going to harm it between 30 and 50.

  • Circuit Protector for RV That Protects Against High and Low Voltage 30 Amp
The Camco RV Power Defender Circuit Analyzer # CAM55312 does not protect against low voltage, but there is a similar product that does both low voltage and surge protection. • How To Use a Surge Protector When Hooking Up a 30 Amp Camper To a 50 Amp Service
It sounds like you are wanting to use a surge protector when hooking up your 30 amp trailer to a 50 amp service. If that is the case then this can be done but you would want to use a 30 amp surge protector. I recommend using the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector part # CAM55301 with the Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter part # CAM55175. The camper pulls power from the shore outlet, not the other way around. The camper would never pull more than 30 amps unless there was an issue...

The Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector # CAM55301 that you referenced automatically disconnects when it senses that the voltage levels are at a dangerous point. Since it automatically reconnects when the voltage levels stabilize (between 102V - 132V) I am wondering if the service that you are hooking up to is too much for the adapter. This would explain why it isn't working. I would try testing the 50 amp service to make sure that it is outputting power and if it is you can then...

The Camco RV Power Defender, part # CAM55312 can only withstand a single surge. It cannot reset its surge protector once its used, and will need to be replaced. There is a version that will reset itself though and for that part number you'd want # CAM55301.

You want circuit protection to protect your RV's wiring which is rated for 50 amp....so you'd want to go with 50 amp circuit protection. For that we have the part # CAM55306 which automatically resets or the part # CAM55313 which is more like a fuse and is internally damaged and needs to be replaced in the event of a surge. • Intended Function of Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor CAM55301
The intended purpose of the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor # CAM55301 is to protect your entire 30-amp RV electrical system from over- or under-voltage conditions in the power source it is connected to. it automatically disconnects when dangerous voltage levels are detected and automatically reconnects when voltage levels stabilize to a safe level (between 102V and 132V). This is different than a GFI outlet as one might find in an RV or household bathroom.
