This roof vent has a built-in 12V fan that uses a thermostat to help maintain an even temperature inside your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. You can also control the dome and fan manually with a built-in hand knob or with controls on the vent housing. A rain sensor is included as well to signal the dome to close and the fan to shut off when it gets wet.

Ceiling Vent and Fan with Thermostat

Air out your RV after cooking or just draw in some fresh air while you sleep. This variable-speed ceiling fan operates in 2 modes: manual and automatic. The fan activates when you move the fan blade rocker switch to the in or the out position, which designates the direction of airflow.

When using the automatic mode, you can preset the fan to maintain a desired temperature inside your RV. The thermostat dial is color coded, with dark blue representing the coolest setting and dark red representing the warmest setting. The fan's internal thermostat will sense the actual room temperature, and the fan will run until the preset temperature is achieved. When the temperature rises above the preset temperature, the fan will automatically kick on again. So when you go out, you don't have to waste energy by leaving the vent running at full blast just to ensure that your RV is cool when you return. And because the fan will activate anytime that the preset temperature is reached, you can set up the system to ensure that your pets remain comfortable while you're out.

To control the fan manually, turn the speed knob on the vent housing. There are 3 speeds: low, medium, and high. There is also an off position.

Power Lift and Rain Sensor

Fan Tastic Vent Lift Dome

This vent has a powered lift arm for the dome, so you don't have to manually crank it open or closed. The dome automatically opens when you turn on the fan. You can also use the small rocker switch on the vent housing to open and close the dome when the fan is not running. And a hand knob is built in so that you can operate the dome in the event of a power failure.

A moisture sensor ensures that the dome will close when rain or snow hits. So you can leave the vent running or preset it to run at a certain temperature, even if the forecast calls for rain. When the sensor gets wet, it signals the dome to close. With the dome closed, the fan blades will stop running. When the sensor dries, the dome will re-open and the fan blades will resume operation. To keep the sensor from activating in rain, snow, or humid and dewy conditions, simply add a vent cover (sold separately) to block moisture.

Installation

This vent requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening in your trailer's roof and ceiling. To replace an old vent, install this vent into the existing opening. If your roof does not already have a vent, you will need to mark and cut an opening between roof joists to install this unit. And the 2-wire design makes it easy to have your vent hooked up and ready for use.

The (2)fan lid black plastic mounting bosses broke as if they had deteriored in the sun. This lower the lift arm to flop down and keep the lid from opening. Trying to figure a method to repair.

Your best bet on repairing it would be to replace the lid. We have them available as part # FVK1020-19.

A year later - works perfect - it was the right choice. Easy install, reliable roof vent fan.

This powered roof vent is great! I mounted it above the cab in my 1991 high-top conversion van to provide cool air when camping in it. Fan is more powerful than I expected! I rarely need to switch it to high speed. It's quiet enough for sleeping just a few feet away. Installation was easy and dimensions were accurate. Controls are easily accessible. Auto temp control is really nice when outdoor temps are dropping during the night so we don't get too cold. Rain sensor triggers to close cover after only a few drops of rain! Reversible fan is nice.

Absolute waste. It seems like when the company was sold they changed the programming and instead of fixing it or giving customers an option (read: a simple switch!) they made it so the rain sensor just shuts it permanently absolutely destroying any usefulness of the rain sensor. Customer service doesn't even understand the problem (e.g. getting up at 3 am because of a 2 minute rain at midnight to cycle the fan power) or alternative uses (e.g. using the fan to prevent overheating for longer periods- an all day hike). It now just closes permanently a the first drop of rain instead of reopening when the sensor is dry.

I literally ripped this brand new fan out two weeks after install and a year later it's still sitting on my workbench because I refuse to hobble someone else with this absolute piece of garbage before I get a chance to override the problem with an FRM01 12v relay computer. I haven't bothered because 1. I have a better fan (the old version I was lucky enough to find) 2. this one has a chimney which sits up 2" higher 3. the new motor is weak enough that even if nothing else was wrong it would still be a mediocre fan.

The old model has a horizontal front hinge and a black motor housing that extends into the lid. Beware a lot of images of the old model are still used in listings for the new model.

by:

Lid broke a few days after install. You guys would not replace the lid without taking the rv into shop. The rv is not movable and I asked just for a replacement lid. I never got problem resolved and it’s still broken.

by:

The vent only opens and closes if the fan is actively running. Kind of annoying. I just want to open and close regardless of fan running or not but that is not an option. So for instance...say I just want to open the vent but I do not need the fan..nope. You need to turn the fan knob to on...then toggle the open/close switch.

And further... First trip with it the plastic vent cover broke right where the metal lift arm attaches. This is the worst. I can deal with the vent/fan working in an odd combination but the fact that it broke already is very poor.

Hope I can get in contact with someone at etrailer about this.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. I reached out to the manufacturer about opening the lid without running the fan. They advised that you can use the knob that is attached to the lift motor to open the vent while the fan is off.

Perfect fit, just what I needed, always fast shipping and great customer service from etrailer.com

THE FAN WORKS FINE, BUT THE POWER SWITCH TO RAISE AND LOWER THE VENT LID QUIT WORKING AFTER THE THIRD USE. I REALLY LIKE BEING ABLE TO REVERSE THE FAN AND DRAW COOLER AIR IN.

You mentioned that the power switch for raising and lowering the lid was not working. I reached out to the manufacturer who advised that it could be the switch or a power issue. If you are interested, you can take it to a service center to have it looked at since it is still under warranty. It does have a limited lifetime warranty.

This is an excellent product. Our unit is a 2007 Coachhouse Platinum 231SD which had two fantastic fan factory vents. The fans units were aging and one was leaking so I ordered two upgraded units.

The installation was quite easy actually. I removed the old units, cleaned the openings of old putty and Dicor, installed new sealing putty tape, used the old screws to attach the new units and applied new Dicor self leveling sealer. Just have to make sure you get the old sealer and putty cleaned off before installing the new units. I then reconnected the wiring for each unit and installed the new surrounds.

The old units were a lower profile than the new units owing likely to the larger reversible fan blades requiring more headroom which I do not see as a problem. I also had to trim the new surrounds so they would fit flush with the ceiling.

What made it so much easier was the product itself being the exact fit and finish for my application.

by:

Great fan so far, altho I did just install it. Installation was easy as it could be.

The operating instructions are far from complete. There's a specific way to operate these functions but it's not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Main power switch needs to be on for anything to work (obvs), as well as the fan speed needs to be on at least one for the top to open, the fan won't turn on until the top is open. So power on, fan speed on, then vent can open, then fan turns on. It's a little confusing. I had to watch a video in order to get this unit working. Initially I thought it was hooked up wrong, then thought the unit was bad. Could of saved 30 mins of head aches if the instructions spoke of this.

Replacement for the original circa 1995. Can't beat that! Good price, fast delivery.

by:

Fan works great especially with remote

by:

This was a perfect replacement for our old fan (model no longer available). etrailer suggested this replacement and we’re so pleased with it. Install was easy after we figured out our wiring (found past posts in etrailer site for help). Thanks so much!!

by:

Package arrived damaged, but fan appears to be acceptable. etrailer provided a good price and shipping. I have purchased from them many times and have always been pleased!

by:

All items were delivered in good condition in two separate deliveries over a two day period. There was only one tracking number for two deliveries, so when they first delivery was made, I couldn't track the remaining order...making me believe the remainder of my order was not shipped. This was very frustrating. Two or more separate boxes coming on one order should have their own tracking number, letting the customer know they're still on transit.

by:

I love the fans. I bought two and they help keep my rv's temperature at a reasonable temp. I would rather have fresh air than use the air conditioner.

by:

The quality looks very good ! I just received the package and have not installed the fan yet.
I do like buttons on the fan instead of on a remote control. More direct.
The price was great and the service was fantastic !!.
I know this fan will fit perfectly as upgrade for replacement on my old fan.

by:

etrailer is my "go to" place for rv accessories, everything I've received from them has been delivered on time, and the products are quality. They pack the merchandise very well, nothing to date has arrived damaged. I am very satisfied with the products and service I receive from them.

The fan-tastic is a great product, I have had several on my r vs in the past 30 years.I wouldn't be without one. They are easy to install. Melissa T at e-trailer was great helping me. I have bought several things from e-trailer, and have never been disapointed.

by:

It was OK for a week, then the powered opener quit. The thermostat works fine. I just ordered a hood for it, so the lid can stay open.

by:

Installed on my 2003 5th wheel. The best part is the rain sensor to close it!! Shudda bought this years ago. Great product and as always, here on eTrailer, MY "Go To" store. I always seem to shop this site, simply the best for products and SERVICE.

by:

Love the fan. Replaced an origonal vent on 1976 GMC Motorhome. Required a little cutting as the old vent had rounded corners.

by:

Excellent product and easy to install. The Product did arrive with some slight damage but etrailer send me a new part right away. Highly recommend dealing with etrailer.

by:

I have not installed the product yet, but it is exactly what I ordered. It is a replacement, so I'm sure it will be just fine when I put it in. All the pieces are the same as what I took out. Delivered quick and in good condition.

by:

I would order from you again. No shipping games, product was exactly what I ordered. Over all a very good experience

You should be just fine replacing your two roof vents with the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent # FV803350 since these fit the standard 14-1/4 x 14-1/4-inch RV roof opening size. • How to Correct Squeak in Dometic Rain-Sensing RV Vent with Fan
If your Airstream's Dometic powered vent has a visible accumulation of soils from regular use keeping the trailer free of cooking odors then you can certainly clean the fan blade and other accessible surfaces. It sounds like the squeak is coming from the fan motor itself, though, so for that I suggest a very light application of WD40 or a similar lubricant. If the squeak reliably stops after a moment or two then to be perfectly honest I would do nothing to the fan/vent other than clean...

  • Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent with Fan and Thermostat Amperage Draw
I reached out to the manufacturer and the techs don't have that amperage for each speed of the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # FV803350. They said that at start-up the fan will pull 3.5 amps but running will remain well under that amperage. The unit has a slow blow 4 amp fuse so it will not pull minimal amperage at 12V for continued operation.

This roof vent fits a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" opening which is the standard for all modern vents. The leg of the garnish that actually comes with it also measures 4-1/2" and fits roofs up to 4" thick.
