The rain sensor on this powered roof vent automatically closes the dome and shuts off the fan in rain or snow. The reversible, 10-speed fan has a thermostat to regulate airflow inside your RV. Ceiling fan mode circulates air when vent is closed.

Note: Not for use above tubs, showers, or range cooking surfaces.
The MaxxFan Plus has a rain sensor that detects when it starts to rain or snow. The sensor then automatically closes the roof vent and shuts the fan off, preventing the interior of your RV or trailer from getting wet. This allows you to leave your vent open and running without having to worry about the weather. Once the sensor has dried, you'll be able to open the vent and turn the fan back on. To deactivate the rain sensor, press the rain sensor button on the keypad.
The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.
To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.
This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.
The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.
The remote control has a built-in LCD screen so that it's easy to see the current settings. The remote enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. With the remote, you can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.
The remote comes with a cradle, which mounts to the wall. When it's not in use, the remote can be stored in the cradle. Hardware and 2 AAA batteries are included. The low-battery indicator located on the top-center area of the screen lets you know when it's time to change the batteries.
Like the remote control, the flush-mounted keypad on the vent allows you to operate the vent, the fan, and the thermostat. The rain sensor can only be activated or deactivated from the keypad.
The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.
This powered-lift dome opens and closes automatically, which means no hand cranking is needed. And unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.
The dome has a sensor that will automatically shut off the lift motor when an obstruction is encountered or when the dome reaches the end of its travel. So, for example, if the dome cannot open all the way under your vent cover, a sensor will stop the dome once it has opened as far as it can.
And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome if your RV loses power.
This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.
The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.
To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.
For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

The customer service is A-1 at etrailer - they r very helpful - patient and knowledgeable. It’s the first company I check with when looking for equipment.
Fan arrived in one piece which is always good. Instructions were easy to follow, and installation was easy. MaxxFan Plus works great at pulling in fresh air or pushing out hot air. It made a big difference in how we use out RV. Thanks for a great product!
Everyone said, “a put a maxx fan in my Winnebago”. So I bought one and wow. The fan diameter is 3-4 times the crappy Winnebago fan. It really moves air. Plus auto features, remote control, two fan directions, variable speed. This was a solid upgrade to our camper.
The vent is exactly what I was after. I have one just like it in the gally area of my Keystone Alpine 3712KB.
The UPS shipping however was not. The box was in less than pristine condition.
I ordered a Max Fan deluxe for our Airstream. When it arrived, I realized there was going to be clearance problems with a skylight. etrailer immediately issued a Return authorization. No questions asked. I then ordered a max fan of a different design that had no clearance issues. I have made several purchases from etrailer in the past and will continue to do so. Great customer service!
I purchased 2 MaxxAir fans about a year ago & I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!
My husband and I installed them ourselves, which was a bit of a task but still doable. Removing the old adhesive before installing the new fan was the hardest part.
They aren't cheap, so I was a little hesitate before buying, but they have proven to be worth every penny! I'm actually on a cross country road trip right now, using these wonderful fans everyday since I hit the road in August.
They're great for blowing out the hot air after a hot day, cooling off the rv when it gets a bit too warm inside or when you just need a little circulation. The rain sensors are so incredibly helpful and work great! The lids are a bit noisy when they open and close, but once the lid stops moving, the fan isn't that distracting at all, especially on the lower settings. I highly recommend the MaxxAir Fans!

Under 2 years old & both fans started giving us major problems. One fan regularly scream, flashes & shuts off for no reason, & the rain sensor stopped working yes I clean it, causing a terrible rain flood in my RV. The other fan will not run at all, it just screams & closes instantly. Ive called MaxxAir several times, was told twice they were going to send replacement parts & nothing ever arrived. I am no longer a happy customer & would never recommend MaxxAir Fans to anyone. Their product & customer service has failed me.
So far so good. The fan arrived on time, and despite being shipped without the benefit of an outer box, there was no damage to the fan. The installation instructions were clear, and the installation was not overly complicated. The fan itself is very quiet, allows a good amount of light in, and swiftly pulls heat and presumably propane exhaust up and out of the kitchen. It’s a huge improvement for our 2011 Keystone Raptor both in terms of safety and convenience. The materials and construction of the fan appear to be of high quality, but time will tell how well it will hold up to daily use and occasional travel.

Overall the fan is still working well. However, it has failed to respond as it should to rain. It’s supposed to stop and close when moisture is detected in order to prevent rain from coming inside the RV. Although we don’t usually leave it open if nobody is here, I forgot it was on once when an unexpected rain storm suddenly drove a lot of rain through the fan to the kitchen floor before I realized what was happening. One other thing that I haven’t yet addressed is that I can’t adjust the degree of the fan cover opening as it seems we should be able to do. It’s either 100 open or closed regardless of the fan speed setting. Nevertheless the fan does the job that we bought it to do, and it’s very effective. I also love that it lets a good amount of filtered sunlight in which helps brighten up our kitchen and living room.
Nice fan. Easy installation once old fan was removed. Remote can be wall mounted or use the on fan controls to turn on and off. The fan is very quiet. I chose the MaxxFan to replace the noisy fan in the bathroom. Works great and closes automatically if it detects rain.
It's been working great. No problems

Fan has failed just short of a year. We will contact etrailer to see if it can be replaced.
Fairly easy install. Hardest part is getting the old one out and all the sealant cleaned off. Two wire hookup. What I really like about our new fan is the one touch operation. Once you get it adjusted the way you want, one touch of the power button opens the lid and starts the fan. Reverse is true when you turn it off. Major upgrade from the small fan that came with our 5th wheel.

The fan is still working great. Remote failed after just staring our trip last summer. Didnt get much use out of the remote before failure. Good thing this was installed in the bathroom where we can reach controls on the fan.
Great upgrade

Perfect. No issues
The fan works great. At 30% speed you can barely hear it running. In hindsight, I should have bought two since the other one I purchased does not have a remote, my wife can't reach the fan switch. But it also works very good.
Fan arrived on schedule. Installation was a simple replacement of my second Dometic NOT SO fantastic fan. I should have purchased a MaxxAir fan two years ago instead of wasting money on a Dometic. Once all the old caulk was removed, this fan slid right in and was connected to power within a minute. Operating this fan via its remote is pure pleasure (the dometic's remote was very frustrating), with its LED screen confirming mode, speed, temp, and fan direction. All of this with a minimum number of buttons and clean layout. I did reuse the interior cover from my removed Dometic as its was the same size, trimmed to fit, and the screw holes would have been exposed if I used the MaxxAir cover which has rounded corners (both are white). I previously ignored all the recommendations to purchase a MaxxAir, and I paid the price (money and very bad performance). Don't waste your money on other brands, buy a MaxxAir MaxxFan.
Awesome fan just wish the remote would work without being line of sight to fan so auto mode would work with remote mounted to wall.

I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer and they suggested that you will need to check that the IR receiver is in the center of the clear plastic sight glass. The silver tip should be in the center to receive the IR beam from the remote control.
I installed this in my 1999 Ford E350 ambulance-to-camper conversion last year. Absolutely phenomenal product! We are both light sleepers, and the fan is right over the bed, but on the three lowest settings it is virtually silent, yet still moves enough air to provide a nice, cooling breeze. On high it really moves some air, and being reversible and having 10 speeds you can pretty much have whatever you want. I bought two, but only used one. When a buddy saw how well mine worked, and found out I had another one, he bought it from me at full price.
It has a remote control in addition to the controls on the fan, and a manual "crank" in case you lose battery power. Oh yeah, the rain sensor works too!
I ordered and installed a MaxxAir 4500K Vent fan to install in our cabover area of our Class C motorhome from Etrailer.com . This is the second one we installed, the first one in the RV bathroom is still working great after about 1 years time. Reason I installed a 2nd one is so we can have one fan exhaust air while the other fan pulls air into the RV and thereby create a wind tunnel through the RV so we can close and lock the windows but still cool the RV in moderately warm weather when we want to leave the dog in the RV and go somewhere with everything locked up. I chose Etrailer for this purchase because they had a good price and they show MaxxAir as one of their partner brands and state the fan has a 2 year manufacture warranty right on the page where it is listed. The fan was shipped quickly and I was pleased it wasn't old stock, the model label on the fan showed 2018 manufactured. I also bought a Maxx II cover for it.
Purchased for my fifth wheel toy hauler’s garage and needed one with a remote given the height. Went in easy, moves significantly more air than the last one but definitely louder. I really do like the design which makes adding a cover simple. Time will tell how well this one holds up.
Works as it should, remote works from 2 rooms.

BEST FAN I’ve ever had
The hardest part of the installation was removing the old sealant otherwise the installation was easy.
I love etrailer about 90% of the time. The other 10% is when I attempted to order keyed alike locks. It all ended ok but was a pain. In any case this is a review about a maxxfan 4500k. Let me just start by saying etrailers price was $125 higher than a competitors and they were willing to price match it. So a solid A+ on price matching. The box came just as it would if you bought it off the shelf. No additional packaging which is fine. I’ve had this same fan before and it works great. Thanks again for the price match etrailer. The fan will go in next week when I redo my RV roof on my Montana 3750fl.
Good so far. This replaced a 3 year old MaxxFan that came with our RV. The lift mechanism broke. It was nice to find an exact replacement. Its a nice fan and the rain sensor is a really great feature, closing the vent if it starts raining. I just hope the reliability is better with the replacement.
Product design is aesthetically pleasing and construction appears to be very durable. Purchased this particular fan over another popular brand because of its low profile when closed and because it has dual actuator door support arms. Product will be used in my teardrop trailer build so I was wanting something compact yet attractive. I'm not to the point where I can actually test the operation of the fan at this time. Hopefully soon. Thank you etrailer.com for another great product at a great price and as usual, superior costumer service.
I really like all of the features and they move a lot of air. I especially like the automatic closure if it rains while they are open. I have two fans and one of them quit running but otherwise the lid opened and closed so I knew the power was okay. I took the circuit board out and found that the transistor that powers the fan was bad, I replaced the transistor and it is working great again.

They work great and the fact that they will turn off and close when it rains is very convenient. I have two installed and one fan quit working, I found the semi-conductor that controls the speed had failed, I replaced the semi-conductor and it has been working good since.
Again, everything went as eTrailer said it would. Because of weather and a busy rv tech, we didn’t get our MaxxFan installed until today.. Thanks for your great service!

GREAT - they are dependable - generate the needed airflow throughout my van and the remotes are sooooo handy - no more reaching up and fiddling with the knobs and checking and rechecking if they are set properly for the intended flow - just a touch of a button on the remote pad - and there is a temp gauge in the remote as well which is very handy. They are quiet and strong - even when the lids are up and the pre monsoon winds are blowing. These fans are a winner.
