This FanMate cover is designed to work with any roof vent that has a high-powered, high-speed fan, including MaxxFan Plus vents and certain MaxxFan Deluxe, Fan-Tastic Vent, and Shurflow vents. The FanMate is also taller than other MaxxAir vent covers so that it can provide increased lid clearance, which allows you to open the dome of your roof vent more.
The wide, louvered vent area at the back of the FanMate means that the cover provides more airflow in and out of your RV or trailer than standard covers. The angled louvers allow smoke, odors, and stale air to escape while keeping rain and debris out.
This FanMate vent cover comes with 4 EZClip pins. These pins enable you to easily open or remove the cover. When the pins are removed from one side, the opposite side acts as a hinge, allowing you unobstructed access to your roof vent for cleaning and maintenance. To secure the cover closed, slide the pins back into the cover and push them up to lock them in place.
The FanMate vent cover is specifically designed for installation on newer-model MaxxFan and MaxxFan Plus roof vents. No drilling or tools are required. The integrated mounting brackets on the FanMate perfectly align with the mounting tabs that are molded onto the flange of the roof vent. To install, fit the cover over the roof vent. Then slide the included EZClip pins through the tabs and rotate them up to secure the cover in place.
If you are installing this cover over an older-model MaxxFan roof vent without mounting tabs, no drilling is required and all necessary hardware is included. The MaxxFan roof vent has pre-drilled holes in the side wall that are hidden under plastic plugs. Just remove the plugs and fasten the aluminum brackets to the side wall with the stainless steel screws. Then insert the EZClip pins through the brackets to secure the cover in place.
If you're installing this FanMate cover over any other roof vent, then drilling into the frame of the roof vent may be required. Stainless steel screws, nuts, and washers are included to install the cover. However, if you're installing the cover over a high-powered, high-speed ventilation fan, use the included self-tapping screws to mount the cover instead.
This vent cover is constructed of durable, high-density polyethylene. Special additives help ensure that the material can resist the negative effects of UV rays. And the cover is translucent so that some natural light can shine through.

The other vent required I use the included brackets. Still quick and easy, with the use of a drill and reading the included instructions.
EXCELLENT! I bought this Maxxair Fanmate vent cover for my RV kitchen vent. Now I can leave the vent open without worrying about rain or bugs getting inside my 5th wheel. You can see through the smoke colored plastic like looking through a cool skylight. I bought two. One justed clipped on because it already had the Maxxair bracket installed from Grand Design. The other I will have to install the bracket that came with the vent cover! Looks Great!

The vent cover fits as advertised. Absolutely no issues with installation. I have had it installed for over a year and just finished my bi-yearly outside rig cleaning where I clean the roof and sides. While on the roof I conducted my seal inspection and there are no apparent cracks or leaks. Highly recommended.
I was informed by my local RV parts folks, that this item wasn't available in the smoke color. I also coudn't find it on the Mfg website. So, I decided to try etrailer and sure enough, there it was! These vent covers are easy to put together and to install. It took right around 30 min to install all three in about 40 degree weather. The vent guards remained pliable and easy to install. Would definatly recommend.
Works as advertised and fits newer vents with preinstalled eyelets for clips (also includes brackets for older/different brand vents). Unit does receive a few scratches from shipping however can be buffed out with Plexus plastic cleaner or other similar product.

Once again etrailer delivers (literally). I was expecting a longer delay on receiving these covers, but to my surprise they were delivered early. I thought about lower this rating to a 4-star, as the covers were a little scratched up, I don't this that's a function of etrailer, but perhaps a little better job of packing (separating the covers) in the box, but they're going on the roof and no one will see them.
My vent cover arrived today and in a couple hours was installed on my trailer. Cover arrived without any defects and the instructions provided made the installation process easy. This cover allowed my vent to be opened fully. Since the product is smoked, in color, it allows plenty of light into our trailers bathroom.

Installed 2 smoke covers on my 2021 Grand Design 31MB. One on a maxair fan in the kitchen with existing mounting brackets and one on a standard fan without any existing mounting hardware. The one in the kitchen installed in less than five minutes with the 4 pins. Installing the second required drilling but was still pretty easy... about 30 minutes. They look great. Unfortunately, I can't comment on their functionality yet as I just installed them, but I see no reason to doubt their performance based on other reviews. Good purchase so far.

Ordered 2 of these to cover 2 new MaxxAir fans I installed in our Keystone Outback. The FanMate covers fit well over the MaxxAir fans using their proprietary mounting tabs - it took longer to climb the ladder to the roof than to install these on the tabs. I paid more to get the smoke cover and am glad I did - it lets in much more light than the white versions from my old fans. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is price - the smoke is even more expensive than the already expensive white MaxxAir FanMate covers. I didn't want to drill into the new fan frames and liked MaxxAir's quick disconnect mounts so I sucked-up the cost. etrailer, as usual, provided excellent service and fast shipping. When I discovered the box was missing mounting hardware for one of the covers, etrailer was on it - I received a personal reply and follow-up to ensure I received what I needed. Thanks etrailer!!!
Easy to install. Works great. Peace of mind not having to worry and rain and closing the vent. Can even leave open if you want while travelling down the road. Excellent product well worth the investment. Highly recommend.
I purchased two MaxxAir FanMate Rain Covers for my new fifth wheel. One installed on a MaxxAir MaxxFan. It clipped right into place installing in minutes. The second unit installed on a standard roof vent. I needed to mark and drill four holes in the vertical metal flange. This had no impact to the roof seals at all. It was handy to remove the screen from the vent so my assistant could hand tools to me from the bathroom below. Very easy to install. Why I purchased: I had MaxxAir Rain Covers on the travel trailer that I just traded in. When the factory lids of the vents became brittle and crumbled during winter storage, the MaxxAir Rain Covers kept the inside of my trailer dry. No water damage with two roof vent lids completely gone! Highly Reccommend.
Goes great with a newer style max air fanmate. This vent cover allows my camper to vent while its raining outside. The vent lid does hit the top of the inside but shouldn't impede on the fan's operations. Its also super easy to install if you have the max air fans with the EZ clips. It does provide hardware for other applications if you have to screw yours in. I have both the smoked and the opaque white version. The smoked does provide just a tad more natural light coming into your camper but not much more than the opaque white version. Just get the color to match the rest of your vent covers and youre good to go! I wish it included the bug screen, which is a separate purchase.
These Fan covers are a Great for leaving your fans open all the time, But with the Maxx Airauto fans it is not tall enough for the Full open action. The fan pushes up on the cover when full openis activated. This really isn't a problem, but I'm sure if it puts pressure on the vent motor when opening? Would I Buy again..... YES ,They are a Great Vent Cover.
Thin and lightweight yet very study when installed. Smoke color adds just the right amount of tint.

The Fanmate with the EZclip made the attachment to my Maxxair roof vent simple to install. The Fanmate vent cover will confidently increase the usage of my roof vent. Let it rain!
Installed in under 5 minutes on my 2021 Jayco that already had the mounts for the pins.
Have not installed the rain cover yet so cannot speak to that process. It appears to be a good quality product. It seems to be a bit flimsy toward the opening until it is fully assembled and mounted on the roof vent. It then becomes rigid and I don't expect any problems in that area. When mounted on the roof vent it has a gap between it and the roof itself. I understand that is to allow the area inside the cover to air out thus reducing the chance of condensation related problems. I do have one concern and that is the gap on the front. That may allow to much air to flow through when traveling at road speeds causing the back (the louvered area) to open. Most likely the engineers have foreseen this possibility and it will not a problem, I hope. I especially like that it is "Made in the USA". I feel that it has some measure of quality control which is comforting. As with anything made to withstand the outdoors only time will tell the whole story. I gave it 4 stars due to it's appearance, fit, and finish. Hopefully it will earn the 5th star for longevity. etrailer earns all 5 stars.
