Valterra electric valve pieces

The switch plate, wiring, seals, and hardware needed to install this electric waste valve on your RV's black water tank are included. The switch plate installs in the RV's control panel. The waste valve secures to existing pipes using ABS solvent cement (A05-0303 - sold separately). A booklet with step-by-step instructions and a template for drilling are also included.

Valterra electric valve gray water switch

You can also adapt the valve to work with your gray-water tank. A gray switch plate is included for that purpose. For this installation, you will need to use adapters (sold separately) to convert the valve opening from 3" to 1-1/2" in diameter.

Valterra electric valve manual use

If you're dry camping or in the case of a power failure, the manual override is easy to use. Simply remove the pin from the valve's lift arm and turn the handle 90 degrees clockwise. Then pull the handle to open the valve.

Got it today thought I’ll probably put in Saturday and as I took it out of the box the manual lever lock was broke and filed down to make it look like it was meant to be. And it also said that it comes with the black and gray water switch, it only came with the black tank one. Direction should have been included, right nope.

I am sorry to hear that this arrived damaged. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to get this corrected for you.

by:

The valve was great, but the price high.

by:

Install a little hard but valve worked great.

by:

This replaced a mechanical one I had for the black water. It was a relatively easy install, the install of the valve was straightforward and the wiring for the switch was easy with the worse being choosing a location and drilling the switch mounting area. Works great and hasn’t had any problems

by:

This is a very nice easy hookup, 2 wire install. This valve is being used on a 1010 gallon tanker trailer for an agricultural application. The valve comes prewired with heavy duty wiring and very sturdy crimped on connectors. The lighted activation switch is mounted into a faceplate with a 5 amp DC circuit breaker. Most attractive about this valve is the very reasonable price. This is a lot of valving for the price.

by:

The Valterra valves work great unless they get wet on the outside and then the electronics corrode and stop working. This happened twice in the past to me personally. If they sealed the motor they would be awesome, but I still love the convenience of the remote switch.

by:

These valves are fantastic, after a year of use they function flawlessly, and I don’t have to get on my knees anymore to pull those stupid valve handles.

by:

Valve works as promised. Would have been helpful to have instructions and panel mounting screws but I have [on-line videos] and a can of spare hardware. I wonder if the manufacturer knew where I was mounting everything as the power connection plug was JUST the right length.

by:

Is outstanding product make certain to order lots of wire however depending on where you want to run your switch. I wanted mine in my cabin next to my refrigerator.

by:

VERY good service and VERY quick delivery. They have a good system for taking orders, processing them and keeping the customer informed along the way.

by:

Everything they describe, and we tested and is working perfect

Installation was easy…. Getting to them was the hard part.
Taking down the underbelly was less than fun. Cutting holes in it was even a worse idea.
But, installation went well. Great product, super fast open and close, easy to wire and made my own console for the switches which wasn’t hard either.

Had to put them in different directions due to the main sewer drain being in the way but the auto gate valves do not care which way they go, they work fine either way. Just hope they last as I really don’t like working on my back….

by:

Nice valve for remote operation . The wiring is 4 ft from switch to motor/valve, and 3 ft of wire for power. I replaced power wire with a 10 ft piece which was only $9 bucks. Take pic of switch wiring cause you need to remove wires from switch to pass wires through any holes you drill in floor and cabinets, etc . Watch out for water , electric wires when drilling holes. Hole needs to be at least 1/2”for wire ends to pass through. If wood is thick I would do 5/8” hole . Pass big wire ends through first and smaller next. Or cut wire ends off and recrimip new ends after running wires.

by:

Except for having to make some minor modifications to my flanges (they were bowed out between the bolt holes) so the actuators were clearing the flange, the install was easy. The flange issue is not the valve manufacturers fault, just how the flange was made. My old valves were cable style and cheap and these will be a great upgrade on Leaky crappy valves. I was tired of getting the sewer surprise every time I dumped. etrailer delivered on time and at a good value.

by:

I installed 3 of these valves on my RV, i've had them for a year now with no problems with the valves themselves the only issue was one of the switch red lights that lets you know it's open went out but really don't need it, I am very pleased

by:

Every things was in the package , arrive at the time its was schedule .
The installation went very good and easy , to dot it your self if you are manuel its will work find.
I change a existing cable valve with this electric waste valve , the only bad situation was to work under the RV .
The valve work great .

by:

I replaced the 2 manual valves with 2 E40A-8’s...one of the best upgrades I’ve done with my Renegade RV.... Easy installation......Great product..... Great price..... Thanks etrailer.... You’re still the best.....

by:

It’s been a year now since I installed this control valve.
I am very pleased that it works perfectly. I will be buying two more for my other two tanks. I highly recommend this purchase.

by:

it makes it easy for anybody to dump the tank great product

by:

The Drain Master cam-lock waste water hose is second to none, but after having to use a small allen wrench to manually open/close a failed Drain Master black tank valve, I replaced both with this Valterra assembly. They require a fair amount of space above them to open, but it is much easier to manually operate them, if necessary. They are well-constructed. No leaks, no problems after a year of use, and etrailer offered quick delivery and excellent customer service.

Keep in mind-- the switches are a rocker design that makes open/close positions less obvious, and in bright sun, the red led may be hard to see. I learned this while flushing out my black tank. After I was finished, I reinserted the stopper, thinking the black tank valve was closed. The next time I went to drain the tanks, I took the stopper out, and had a 40 gallon gusher of raw sewage! One thing I can say about all my RV mistakes- I never repeat them!

  • Which Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve To Use
You linked to the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank, # E40-8 a 3" Hub to 3" Spigot. The difference between a hub connection and a spigot connection is that the hub is the female end and has a lip on the inside that stops the spigot (or male) end. Please note the three options of a 3" Hub to 3" Hub - # E40B-8, 3" Hub to 3" Spigot - # E40-8 or 3" Spigot to 3" Spigot - # E40A-8. The Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank item # E40B-8 may benefit from being installed up in your enclosed underbelly with the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement item # A05-0303 to help prevent the sewer pipes from freezing if you camp when the weather is cold. This will also protect the valve from damage caused by road debris while you are driving. Other than that there are no suggested routine maintenance schedules to follow. • Can You Replace Just the Valve When Upgrading To Electric Sewer Waste Control
In order to upgrade from manual to electric waste control valves you'll need to change out the entire housing/body as well. For this, we have quite a few options which will depend on if you have separate valve like part # E40B-8 or combined like part # E85-8. These options both have hub fittings which are the easiest to change out since all you need to do is cut the old ones off and slide the new ones on with some solvent part # A05-0303.

Are you referring to a waste valve for your black water tank? If this is the case than are you sure you have a 4" diameter tube because the industry standard size for a black water tube is 3" diameter which is what most of our waste valves are designed to work with. Something getting hung up would not trip a circuit breaker on the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # E40B-8. • How Do I Lubricate/Maintain My Waste Water Valves
If you were to ask a waste valve manufacturer like Valterra or Dometic, they would tell you that their valves do not require lubricant. That being said, along with regular cleaning/flushing, adding a lubricant like a silicone plumbers grease will help the valve operate more smoothly over time, and it can help the seals last longer. I am sorry to say that we do not offer any such lubricant here at etrailer, but I imagine it would not be too hard to track down locally.
