rv rider

The RV Rider platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 2 electric bikes on the rear of your motorhome, fifth wheel, or flat-towed vehicle. This rack is easy to use, and it features padded clamps and adjustable wheel hoops, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. A locking hitch pin with an anti-rattle system tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the tube.

Locking, Padded Clamps

Constructed of rugged plastic, the RV Rider uses padded clamps with hand knobs to secure your bikes by the frame or seat post. The clamps are easily adjusted along the vertical tubing and lock securely in place. Each clamp functions independently, which means you can position them to carry bikes of different heights.

If you are transporting a carbon fiber bike, do not use the clamp on the frame. Instead, attach the clamp to the seat post to prevent damaging the frame.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

wheel hoops

The wheel hoops accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60" by sliding along the horizontal arms. They secure in place with easy-to-use hand knobs, and ratchet straps fasten the wheels to the hoops. These universal wheel hoops will fit standard and fat tires up to 5" wide.

Folding, Tilting Design

The rack tilts up and down, without bikes loaded, for storage and access to your rear cargo area. To lower the rack, remove the pin, hand knob, and carriage bolt, then tilt the rack down.

To raise the rack, remove the hand knob and carriage bolt, then fold the rack up and reinsert the hardware. After, you can use the hook and loop strap (similar to Velcro) on the frame clamp and connect it to the wheel holder, which helps secure the mast in place.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The RV Rider easily installs in the hitch with the locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and attach the lock pod. The locking pin works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. It also comes with a hitch tightener to help reduce vertical wobble by pressing the shank against the receiver. It attaches to the top or bottom of the flange on your receiver using a U-bolt and clamp bar.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

The RV Rider comes with locks for both the rack and your bikes to deter theft. The lock pod on the hitch pin, lock cores in the frame clamps, and the 8' long security cable lock are conveniently keyed alike.

We picked this bike rack because it was rated for ebikes, and supports them on a towed vehicle behind a motorhome. The assembly was easy and putting the bikes on the rack and securing them is easy as well. Great bike rack, highly recommended.

Its a great heavy duty bike rack
Daryl - 04/10/2021

Excellent product, and perfect for our requirements. We needed to carry two ebikes (RadRover fat tire bikes, @ 60 lb each w/o the battery) on a Class A motorhome. This rack seemed to be designed for that. It is strong, study, and simple enough to assemble. The latest design (late 2020) has updated wheel cradles, so you can carry a variety of tire widths up to 5" - big plus in convenience and cost over the prior edition. Due to supply chain constraints, we had to wait for the backorder, but it was well worth the wait. Yes, it was a bit pricey compared to most racks, but when you consider the extreme heavy duty construction, well thought design, and compare the price to the the only other heavy capacity RV compliant options, this is a fair price. Shout out to Nicole T in etrailer customer service who helped me get my backorder on track, and made sure the product arrived on time for my immediate need. Thanks Nicole! We've since travelled with the hitch mounted for about 1,500 miles, and can report it remains solid as the day it was installed. Lessons learned: I needed to set it up 2-3 times to really figure out the best arrangement; the bikes are big and might obstruct the tail lamps - so some minor adjustments were needed to resolve that; the included security cable is good, but a thicker cable or chain would offer more confidence. (I do like the keyed clamps that add another layer of theft deterrence.) Be sure to remove the batteries before mounting the bikes - the batteries will be safer inside the cabin or storage, and the weight savings is significant.

I spent a lot of time searching for a e-bike rack that not only would accommodate the weight of my 70 lb. bikes but also suitable for mounting on my 5th wheel RV. I came very close to buying a less expensive rack but after learning that racks must be specifically rated for 5th wheel RVs use, I made decision to purchase this rack. Although this rack may seem pricy, when I consider the investment I have made on my two e-bikes I didn’t want to skimp on the rack. One final comment. The two e-bikes I have are both the step thru type. This rack is capable of supporting the bikes without having to purchase cross bars to secure.

During the last year since I bought this rack, we have traveled extensively with our 5th wheel RV and with our ebikes mounted on our rack. At times bouncing down some rough highways but had no problems with ebikes on rack.

I saw this exact rack review in Trailer Life magazine. It works perfectly with our ebikes. This rack is pricey but well worth it. Very well designed and sturdy. I highly recommend it.

Still going well. Awesome rack!!!
Michael V - 04/23/2021

This rack is awesome. It will be used on our fifth wheel but also on the car or pick up.

It is very sturdy and well designed ebike rack. It might take a a little extra bit of work (say 30 extra minutes) to assemble to ensure the bikes are balanced side to side and to ensure the pedals don’t interfere with one another. I am very glad I ordered this rack. The staff at etrailer were excellent and periodically give me status updates on its estimated shipping date. I am very pleased with my purchase and for using etrailer.

This rack was easy to assemble. It is well built and very sturdy. We bought this rack to use on our RV. We haven’t bought the RV yet so we will use the rack on the car and pickup truck in the meantime. When using the rack on the truck we are unable to use the U-bolt clamp because the factory installed receiver hitch tube is recessed under the bumper. There is no room to install the clamp. This is not a problem since we won’t be traveling long distances.

I installed this on a Curt front hitch that I installed on my 2019 Ford F350. The bike rack is heavy duty and works perfectly. The box came damaged from UPS and the decal was scrapped on the hitch a little bit but this is not etrailers fault . Love it so far for my two 80lb Fat tire electric bikes .

This is a really heavy duty rack, which is what we needed for new electric bikes. It's a lot stronger than the Swagman that we had for regular bikes. The instructions were easy to follow and there were no problems assembling it. There were two downsides: (1) You need to use a wrench to remove a bolt in order to tilt the bikes away from the car's hatch. That's not very convenient. (2) The final step after you load your bikes on is to run straps from the center support to mounting points on the left and right side of your car's rear bumper area. Our car doesn't have those mounting points.

Great! We had one issue with a defective cable lock and they sent us a replacement. But since it took less than a minute to hacksaw off the old cable, we went with a thicker one. Other than that m8nor problem, we’ve had this mounted in our tow vehicle and had no issues with securing our bikes formtravel.
RV W - 08/18/2020

I found the bike rack to be very good quality and heavy built. We have two ebikes and they are easy to load by applying the rear brake and raising the front wheel onto the rack and then the rear wheel. We are going to use the rack on a motor home and also on a Jeep Wrangler. I was concerned that the main tube wouldn't be long enough to clear the spare tire, but there is plenty of length and space between the tire and rack. It was easy to assemble with the included tools. My wife has a step thru bike and the top clamps attached to the seat post ok with out using a seat post to handle bar stem adapter.

The hitch was straight forward in the assembly. Functioned nicely with my two Model Rs from Electric Bike Company, total weight of two bikes is 120 lbs. I have it on the back of my Jeep Wrangler for flat towing behind the RV.

Solid construction and quality. Assembly instructions were easy to read and understand with pictures. Took about 1 hr to assemble. Have H1700 model with upto 5” wide tire holders. Bike lower derailer gear was tight against the tire holder side. Set bike gear to lowest setting and no more hitting.

Well built, minimal movement when loaded. Bikes very secure. 4 locks all keyed alike. Would buy again

I really like this rack. Very sturdy for our ebikes. My only comment would be I wish the instructions were a little easier. I would definitely recommend.

Especially love the highly adjustable “clamps” for added stability. (Step through bikes will still require a horizontal bar.)

This company delivers great products. We were looking for a Hollywood bike rack, they had it and was delivered within the week. Great company! I would recommend them for anyone looking for a bike rack for Ebikes. We had been looking for this bike rack and most companies, even Hollywood Bike Racks, were out of stock. etrailer you rock!

We have finished installing the rack! Yay! Instructions are detailed with several pages. Do follow the directions, people. This is a beautiful extra strong rack perfect for our two rad city bikes. It is installed on the rear of our 5th wheel. Have not used the rack yet. Will make a trip from Az to OR where will be using the numerous trails for bikes. Etrailer was able to deliver to us early. Great company always eager to help.

I just purchased and have used it a couple of times. So far so, good - the rack holds the bikes very securely, and I've been watching it closely in the rear view mirror for any movement of the bikes, and haven't seen any. The construction is very sturdy, and good positive locking and redundant connections and bolts. It was very well packaged and everything is very high quality. Assembly was more difficult than I had anticipated - there's a lot of different sized carriage bolts and washers, and none are labeled. I was sure that I was missing a bolt, but it turned out I wasn't, it was just described incorrectly in the instructions and parts list. Also several times, I found the written instructions to be inconsistent with the pictures, so had to pick which one to follow. I opted to follow the pictures. So it was a little bit like Ikea meets Legos for instructions, for those of you that have assembled things from either of those companies. But in the end, I'm pretty sure I got it assembled correctly and used most of the parts they supplied (for the ones I didn't use, I'm going with they were extras in case I lose some :-)), and eventually figured out how to align the wheel holders and frame clamps. After the initial assembly and alignment, actual use of it has been easy and faster than I thought it would be to put on/take off bikes. One design improvement I'd like to see are captive knobs for flipping down the upright mast, and folding up the rack against the car for storage. You have to remove each know, the bolt and lock washer to raise or lower it. They are easy to drop. Our other bike rack had a lever mechanism that you pushed to engage a locking pin. I'm pretty sure the Thule and Kuat racks have that. It's a minor point, but just a deign feature that I didn't know I would appreciate when I had it. But all in all a very solid rack that I'm happy with and would recommend. Just prepare yourself (i.e., get a beer ready) when you're doing the initial assembly. Etrailer has been great with communications and I would highly recommend using them if they carry what you're looking for.

This is sturdy and safe bike rack for our RV Class "B". You have to remove the bike rack in order to open the back door of our RV. However, since we have the Dodge 2018 Promaster and with the rack on the back of our van, we Cannot open the back doors, to get our picnic table, or stuff. This is a negative, but other than that it was worth the money. Many parts to put the rack together, but now that it's together, it's a great rack.

I have two Rad Rover step thru fat tires, they fit perfectly. I have a Jeep Liberty with a spare tire on back.. I just bought a extension for my 2” receiver and it all matched up. Wheel carriers slides are a 66” and clamps are attached on the step thru bar. No wobble and very secure. The best rack for a fat tire e-bike. Go Rad

Wow! I finally was able to get to putting this together after a 6-month backorder. I am truly impressed as to how well this rack is built. It appears to be really well built and strong. Be aware, it is awkward and heavy (I weighed mine at 58.2 pounds empty, minus the straps and a couple of small items) so removing this rack from or reinstalling it on your vehicle or just walking it to your storage space requires some muscles/leverage. I've loaded my Juiced RCS e-bike (75 lbs.) on it but otherwise have not used this rack yet. I'm looking forward to having this Hollywood rack and am truly impressed at the quality. It was worth the wait.

I purchased this bike rack to transport my two 60 pound e-bikes behind my smaller Class C RV. I drove from Winston Salem, NC to Albuquerque, NM and this rack was a solid performer... the bikes did not budge and the rack was extremely stable! I would highly recommend this bike rack to those who carry heavier e-bikes behind their RV or other vehicle.

When I ordered this rack it needed to ship to a state campground in Utah, out in the booney's. Venessa checked and doubled checked that it could ship to where we would be and would ship and arrive while we were still there. She sent me the tracking info so I could get updated and watch it go across the country. It arrived exactly when she said it would and UPS handled it well with no issues. Isn't it great when a plan comes together. The rack it exactly what I expected, packaged well, heavy duty, well fitting and has all the hardware needed. We are buddying the rack with our tow bar on the back of the motorhome and with the 8" hitch extension it gives me just enough room to stow the hitch when folded up and stored when the car is disconnected. I expect no problems hauling our two 4" wide fat tire bikes around the country with us.

We bought two 65 pound electric bikes. One with a bar and one step tru. After much research we found three that fit our Criteria. Then we mentioned that we planned to transport them on our motorhome and also on our Chev Equinox. This cut out one of our choices. Leaving us with the Hollywood HR 1600 and the Thule easy fold. The Thule does not tilt and the price is $200 higher then the Hollywood. We also have a 20 year old hollywood that is still in excellent shape and we liked the quality very much. It just would not hold our heavy ebikes. . When we called with questions before ordering they were very helpful answering all our questions. It was delivered quickly and easy to put together and install on our vehicle. We look forward to many years of use.

I looked a long time through many reviews this was what I needed

The Hollywood Racks # HLY64FR weighs a bit above 70 lbs. Motorhome/RV compatible bike racks are built very sturdy for a reason. The relatively long overhang at the rear of the vehicle (when compared to that of a regular passenger vehicle) causes the rack much more bouncing and shock than would be experienced at the rear of a passenger car, truck or SUV. The only e-bike rack we offer that was designed to fit the smaller hitch size is the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which is a really easy to load and use bike rack as well as it comes with a ramp that pulls out from the assembly. It also can tilt down with bikes loaded for rear cargo area access as well. I attached a review video for this for...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Two Heavy Bikes Rated For Use Behind Towed Vehicle
I have a perfect solution for you and it actually does come from Hollywood Racks. I recommend taking a look at the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack # HLY64FR. This is an excellent carrier that's specifically designed to handle the extra movement behind an RV/trailer or a towed vehicle (I verified this with Hollywood Racks) and it's capable of securing two bikes that weigh up to 80 pounds each. It does have a convenient bolt knob that allows you to fold the rack up for storage or tilt...

  • Best E-Bike Rack for a Motorhome
There are not many e-bike racks rated for use on a motorhome but Hollywood Racks actually designed one for this exact purpose, the Hollywood Racks RV Rider part # HLY64FR which is the best available option. It has an 80 lb per bike weight capacity. It can accommodate fat tires and it can accommodate bikes with unique frame shapes which electric bikes often have. It also comes with locks for security which are just a few of the reasons this is the best e-bike rack for a motorhome.

  • Difference Between Hollywood Racks RV Rider HLY64FR and HR1670
The only difference between the two is that the # HR1670 RV Rider is designed for use with cargo bikes which are wider than a standard bike (although standard bikes can be carried as well). The stand-offs that the wheel hoops and frame clamps are attached to are a bit longer to accommodate a wider bike. The Hollywood Racks # HLY64FR is for a standard-width e bike. I've attached a link to a video for the # HLY64FR that you can check out.

  • Is the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Compatible with a RadRover Step Thru 1 Elec Fat Bike
Yes, the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR is compatible with your RadRover Step Thru 1 Elec Fat Bike as long as the down tube has a diameter within the 1" - 2" range. When it comes to aluminum racks there are only a handful out there and none of them will be able to accommodate the specific specs for your bike(s).

  • Recommended 2-Bike Rack for a 2018 Keystone Montana 5th Wheel with a 2 Hitch Receiver
The first step to choosing a bike rack for a 5th wheel trailer is making sure that it is rated for use on a 5th wheel as there is more movement at a hitch receiver on a 5th wheel as opposed to a passenger vehicle so the rack needs to be able to hold up to that movement. With that being said, we have actually already weeded out which bike racks are compatible with 5th wheel trailers and I will be attaching that list for you to filter through as well as giving my recommendation below. I...
