Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

Note: The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the hitch must be 1-1/2" or greater to use this rack.

Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, RVs, motorhomes, and towable campers

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack

This heavy-duty, 4-bike rack is built to withstand the vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of your RV, motorhome, or travel trailer. It has fold-up anti-sway cradles and ratcheting straps that make it easy to load and unload your bikes. The cradles are set 7" apart, so there's enough space between your bikes to prevent them from becoming tangled on the rack. A HitchSwitch lever lets you fold the arms down when not in use, and locks are included to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Designed for RVs, Motorhomes, and Travel Trailers

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Dual Arms with HitchSwitch Lever

The Range is built to withstand the added vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of your RV, motor home, or travel trailer. The base has no moving parts, and the mast attaches to the shank with steel-reinforced brackets. These overbuilt components ensure that the rack can take any punishment that the road may inflict.

Folding Dual Arms with HitchSwitch Lever

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Dual Arms with HitchSwitch Lever

The Range has dual arms that provide your bikes with excellent support and ground clearance during transport.

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

The HitchSwitch lever lets you fold the arms down when not in use.

HideAway Anti-Sway Cradles

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

The Range has HideAway anti-sway cradles that secure each bike twice along the top tube and once along the seat post or downtube. This reduces rocking to help eliminate bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the arms to accommodate your bikes' frames. Each cradle is set 7" apart on the arms, so there is more space between your bikes when compared with many other hanging-style racks. The added space helps prevent your bikes from becoming tangled on the rack.

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Grooves

The cradles have grooves on the surface that prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Cradles

Durable, dual-molded ratchet straps hold your bikes firmly in place on the cradles. You can remove the lower straps and fold the cradles up against the arms to make it easier to slide your bikes onto the rack.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Cable

The Range includes locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the left arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use.

Thule Range 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Adapter

An anti-rattle SnugTite hitch lock is included to secure the Range to your vehicle's hitch. It also helps to eliminate noise and movement of the rack in your hitch. An integrated dust cover helps keep the lock clean on the inside. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all of your Thule products keyed alike.

Use the bike rack on the back of a 5th wheel. Like the bike rack. It is sturdy and holds 4 full size bikes with no problems. Like the built in lock and hitch lock that use the same key. Only complaint is one of the bike straps broke.

Comments
Awesome bike rack. We have used it multiple times on the back of the truck and on back of camper. Holds our 4 bikes with no issues. love.

Poorly build bike rack bikes fell off on the first trip bike rack also fell apart do to poor quality of parts used don’t waste your money on this bike bike

Comments
It is always important to use these racks within their designed use. A common mistake is to overload the carrier. What types of bikes did you have loaded up? Was the weight limit exceeded? Additionally it is always a good idea to double check tie downs and straps to assure everything is secure.

Make sure your bike rack is rated to be attached behind a trailer, "It's a thing."

Our previous bike rack failed when attached behind our towable RV trailer. The pin broke or became disconnected and the rack dragged our Trek bikes briefly before we pulled over, and restored the bikes elsewhere.

After buying new Trek cruiser bikes I looked for a new bike rack and then found out that it must be rated to be towed behind an RV. Wait just a moment, pun intended.

It makes sense when you think about it that there is more swing behind an RV trailer than there is from just behind an SUV all on its own. That little extra movement gets exaggerated when your bikes are on a rack behind a trailer that you're towing.

This Thule bike rack was rated for being placed at the end of an RV trailer and has performed admirably. I additionally used bungee cords to keep the bikes stable and separated even if we accidentally hit a pothole in the road.

by:

If you have a standard bike frame, this rack would be great. But if you don't it's very difficult to get them to fit without some effort. If the straps holding them get twisted during travel, they are difficult to release. That being said, this is a sturdy rack and can take the extra abuse behind a trailer. The locking cable and bolt that connect to the receiver are a bonus.

by:

etrailer has done it again. Another great product Easy to assemble just a couple of bolts. Very well-built,
Can’t wait do you put on the back of my fifth wheel.

Comments
After owning this bike rack for over a year and having it on the back of my fifth wheel it has been fantastic. Traveling up and down the East Coast it is held up wonderfully and is rocksolid. Bikes are secure and is easy to use. Rocksolid construction. I highly recommend this product to anyone.

Very well made rack, a bit heavy, but also very strong. I had an operational misunderstand issue that was resolved very quickly by Customer Support. Thanks!

Item broke the first time we used it. Costumer service is a joke. No one would help us.

I sincerely apologize that we ped the ball with assisting you with the bike rack. Customer Service will be in touch as soon as possible.

5 stars for the etrailer experience and initial installation! We haven’t gotten back on the road with the rack yet so I will have to update our review once we are traveling again in a couple weeks. But the order experience was great as usual! It’s easy to get a hold of someone at etrailer, and they are always helpful with answering any questions. Shipping time was faster than expected. And the initial installation went smoothly :)

by:

Great price and quick delivery! e-Trailer is great to do business with!

by:

I haven’t had the chance to use the bike rack yet but it was very easy to install and appears to be made very well. So far I am pleased with my purchase but until I get a chance to use it I won’t know how well it holds up to the abuse of being on the back of my camper.

Great Item to have when using a RV or Travel Trailer to carry the Bicycles.

We went through 2 other Thule hitch mounted racks, both broke due to the constant bouncing and movement on the back of our 5th wheel. We are carrying 2 beach cruisers and a small toddler size strider bike. Both were tray style carriers with hook arms. The first model shared the hook arm between two bike the second was the T2 Pro model...both times the hook arms snapped in half. I was hesitant to get another Thule product, but noticed this one is specifically designed for an RV application. Upon first glance it is a very sturdy product made of thick steel (I think) as oppose to aluminum. To date, we have driven about 180 miles with it and we've definitely hit some extremely bouncy and rough roads which would have broken the tray style racks...this one appears unphased. My only complaints are that the smaller kids bike doesn't exactly fit. I've got it on there, but the cross bar isn't quite long enough and I may take it off on the next leg of our trip. The other issue I has with it is that the bike mounts are so close together that I had to skip a space between the beach cruisers due to handle bars, baskets and bike accessories.

by:

This has worked out really well on the back of our 40' 5th wheel camper! You have to figure out how to best configure your bikes for the rack (e.g. we have an adult fat bike, adult mountain bike and teenager and toddler bikes). Keep the bolts torqued and after a year we're about due for new straps to keep the bikes in and safer. Very pleased!

by:

Seems well made and very sturdy. Have not tried on the road yet. The lower vertical straps and mounts are not able to pivot to the extent necessary to be tightly secured to the bike frame. Not sure they will do much to keep bike from swinging. The directions for the product install assembly are just drawings. I had to watch a video on you tube to figure out how the lock cylinder went together. Also the locking security cord should be pulled out completely before you bolt the frame together (would have been nice to know that) or it may get stuck in the frame and pull out only a short distance.

by:

Rack works quite well. Little tight to get 4 bikes on but it works. Very extra durable rack.

by:

I like the Bike rack that we got. we have Trek bikes which have a wide top bar and do not side flush on the rack, but i think will work with the straps. Solid bike rack

by:

I've had my Thule rack for a year now. I originally bought it to bring our bikes along with us on camping trips. We've certainly used it for that purpose but we've also used it extensively with of Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. The rack is very well made and people ask us all the time where we got this particular model. We say, "etrailer" and you'll find no better place and no better price!

by:

Built like a tank, best bike rack I’ve ever handled or seen. Super heavy duty and easy to load and unload bikes.

by:

Fast delivery
Used the bike rack last
week very strong bikes didn’t move
I would recommend it

  • Can the Lets Go Aero BikeWing Bike Rack be Used on the Back of a Scamp Fifth Wheel Trailer
The Thule Range 4 Bike RV Rack - 2" Hitches - Steel, Item # TH9057 is a great choice for using on your fifth wheel. Many bike racks are not approved to be used on a trailer or RV because of the additional stress put on the rack. It's because there is more movement at the hitch of a trailer or RV since the axle is further away from the rear.

  • RV Bike Rack Recommendation for Scamp 13 with Two Inch Hitch
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. The Advantage SportsRack V-Rack # HE1011 that you referenced is...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Carrier for the Back of a 5th Wheel Trailer
Actually, neither Thule bike rack is rated for use at the back of a trailer. There are only certain bike racks that you can use at the back of a trailer because of the rougher ride at the back of a trailer. The Thule Range 4 Bike RV Rack - 2" Hitches - Steel, Item # TH9057 is one rack you could use. It is a straight shank that gives it extra strength for 5th wheel use. I have also included a link to all of the options rated for use behind a trailer.

  • 4 Bike Rack Availability for Hitch of Travel Trailer
We have 4 bike hanging racks that are approved for RV use like the Thule Range # TH9057 but due to the length and weight of the platform bike rack we don't have any 4 bike platform bike racks that would work. There is quite a bit more movement at the rear of an RV over a passenger vehicle. That is why there are no platform 4 bike racks for RVs. The length and weight is just a bad combination for that rougher ride quality. The Range weighs right at 36 lbs and most 4 bike platform bike...

Yes, the Thule Range 4 Bike RV Rack # TH9057 will work great in the 2 inch hitch of your Ford Escape. While this rack is reinforced to be compatible with RV applications it also will work really well in the hitch of a passenger vehicle like your Escape as well.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation that Can Be Used at Rear of Vehicle Being Flat Towed
We do have bike racks that are rated for use in a hitch of a vehicle that is being flat towed like the Thule Range 4 part # TH9057. Not every rack is rated for this application as towed vehicles typically have a slight side to side sway that some bike rack manufacturers have told us will fatigue the welds of racks. The Range was reinforced for this so it would work really well.

The Thule Range 4 Bike RV Rack - 2" Hitches - Steel, Item # TH9057 measures 5-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the bikes are carried. If you measure from the center of the hitch pin hole in your camper's hitch out to the furthest point at the rear of your camper and that measurement is less than 5-1/4 inches you shouldn't have any issues with clearance.
