Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
The Thule Roadway is the perfect hitch-mounted rack for hauling two bikes of different styles or sizes. This rack features anti-sway cradles with removable No-Sway Cage accessories that stabilize your bikes during transport. The cradles slide along the rack arms to adjust for perfect bike positioning, and soft rubber straps ensure that your bikes stay put.
The dual arms on this rack offer great support for your bikes and reduce the need for a bike adapter bar. The arms fold down with a quick-release lever (Hitch Switch) when not in use.
Roadway features a second quick-release lever (Hitch Switch) at its base, allowing the rack to be tilted away from your vehicle for convenient access to your rear cargo area.
The Roadway includes a sleeve adapter that converts the shank from 1-1/4" to 2" in seconds. The sleeve quickly installs with a single screw.
Roadway includes a built-in anti-rattle device on the shank that reduces vibration and noise in the hitch for a smoother, quieter ride.
A Snug Tite hitch lock (THSTL2 - sold separately) is available for locking the rack to your hitch.
The rack comes with an anti-sway strap to reduce movement of the handlebars and wheels during transport.

Includes anti-rattle hitch pin.I purchased the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - TH912XTR online one evening and I had shipping information the next morning. The package arrived quickly by UPS. I was really surprised by the quality of construction and it's tightness at the joints. They were not loose at all and even required a few pounds of force to open/close the tilt and folding functions. The assembly was quick and easy. My only regret is that I didn't know that Thule offered a Locking bolt to secure it to the vehicle. I will order one since there is not another hole in the rack to insert my present receiver locking bolt. I would recommend this bike rack to everyone. 237088
So we purchased the Thule "Roadway 2" bike rack with a two bike capacity and a 1.25" trailer hitch for our 2015 MAZDA 6 sedan. Essentially, we couldn't be more pleased with the purchase or this vendor as... - trailer hitch and bike rack arrived on time; - hitch installation (4 bolts) took less than one hour; - bike rack assembly (2 bolts) took 1/2 hour; - mounted on car looks fantastic!!! (See photos) - would order again in a minute from this vendor if I ever needed anything else.. Excellent Quality and Service!! 504690
Easy Installation! Fits Two bike's with ease. 803212
Do not buy. We were unhappy enough that we replaced it within a month. Contrary to advertising, it DOES NOT fit on a Jeep Wrangler unless you buy an extension bar. Even then, the “flip down” feature is worthless, since it doesn’t bend down far enough to open the gate. It sticks out too far behind the Jeep with the extension. Finally, one of the tie straps broke on the fifth use. We replaced it with a spare-tire mounted Yakima and we are much happier. 496800
I had my local garage attach this rack while installing the tow hitch (#24882) compatible with my 2013 Chevy Cruze LTZ. I haven't taken it off yet (only 3 weeks since installed), so I cannot yet comment on ease to attach/remove. I see it's hex bolt connection, and wrench is provided. A "quick release" mechanism would be cool, but I think the bolt is better for anti-theft and to stabilize the rack in the hitch slot. Works extremely well with wife's and mine Schwinn bikes. Use the provided strap to minimize bike sway against the bumper on starts and stops. Though on my car, the distance from the bike to bumper is not very close. 304590
A high quality rack that was worth the extra cost. Very stable in the class 1~ 1.25" hitch, and the bike secures very well to the rack itself. Just took one bike on a trip about 60 miles each way without any problems. While I didn't go much above 60 mph, I really don't think faster speeds would present a problem. I added a couple of extra nylon straps just for added security but they probably weren't needed as the rack comes with a rubber anti-sway strap that secures to the frame and an extra-long nylon strap to reduce swaying. The 1.5" diameter tube of my mountain bike easily fits in the extra large cradles, something I wasn't sure would happen with some other racks with smaller cradles I looked at. One thing that may not make this a good product for everyone is that the rack is quite heavy, about 30lbs. That's no problem for me, but could be for some as it does take some effort to mount the rack into the hitch. Also you have to sit/squat on the ground to secure the mounting bolt. A wrench is provided, but this takes a little time to use as the bolt can only be turned about 1/8 turn at a time do to interference with the hitch. I'm guessing a socket wrench might work better? I'm finding installation is going quicker now that I've done it several times. Security may be an issue and I wouldn't leave the rack unattended very long, especially overnight. The locking bolt, which I did not purchase, costs extra. But I have an old bike lock that can chain the lock to the hitch. I guess the chain could be cut, but how many people walk around with bolt cutters and a wrench set? It certainly serves as a deterrent, but just to be safe I still wouldn't leave it out overnight. One issue I had during assembly was that the rack did not fold down as it should to allow easier trunk access when mounted. I eventually figured out the pre-assembled bolt at the joint was too tight. I loosened it just a bit and then the rack worked fine. Etrailer's customer service was exceptional. I had a couple of questions that were answered promptly. Item shipped promptly and was received on schedule. Their large number of videos helped my decision making too. 570632
Thule does have an amazing warranty, if you find out that either the strap or the cradle breaks on you please let us know we should be able to track down the correct replacement parts for you.
--After a couple of weeks of researching bike racks on the internet I choose the Thule Roadway 2-bike system, TH912XTR for my new Toyota RAV4. A week previous I had a 2" Draw-tite hitch installed. My criteria for selection was that it should hold 2-bikes, have quick-release (rather than removable pins) for manipulating both the hanging bars and the mast, light and maneuverable enough that I can remove it easily between my occasional bike trips and be less than $200. A lot of my research was done on the etrailer.Com site which contains a ton of information including customer reviews, photographs and videos. If I needed info that was not available I could easily contact their sales reps by email. The product weight, for example, was not often listed. The only really lightweight racks that i found that were otherwise comparable were made of aluminum but some of the reviews were not so favorable. I received the bike rack by UPS 3 days after ordering. Assembly of the two parts into one was extremely easy - two bolts, and then installing the straps. Placing the unit into the hitch was not difficult. Getting the holes to line up for the hitch pin was a little problematic but I settled on using a screwdriver inserted into the hitch to help me line them up. This will work rather well going forward. Similarly removing the rack and placing it in storage was not bad - a little heavy but with two hands it is like 15lbs in each hand - so no problem me, but maybe it would be for someone who is not strong. Loading the bike was a cinch since the online videos prepared me for the process. Two straps on top, one anti-sway strap for the seat post, and a longer anti-sway strap to hold the lower part of the bike to the mast. I added a 3 foot bungee cord going from wheel to wheel at the bottom keep the front wheel from turning. It sounds like a lot strap securing but it all takes one minute after you figured it out. The quick release levers work great to raise and lower the hanging bars and especially to lower the mast to gain access to the rear door. One issue I encountered was that the mast set off alert for my back facing radar but only when I was in Reverse. At that time the rear view camera was partially obstructed by the bike rack but not badly, even when the bike was on the rack. All in all it performed exactly as I expected based on its description, photos, videos and discussion with the sales reps. I took one trip, so far with the bike and car - no problems. I think this product may be unavailable from Thule at this time, but etrailer.com has it. Since buying this, I came across a Yakima 2-bike system that is probably aluminum - only 20 lbs - but is probably a lot more expensive. I would recommend this rack. 449669

Our bike rack was ordered on 5/2/17. I received it on 5/5/17. Tracking was provided by etrailer.com and was very easy to use. Etrailer.com was so friendly and helpful throughout, I'm certain we will order from them again. The bike rack attached to our receiver in minutes. The rest of the assembly was completed in less than 10 minutes. The product was shipped via UPS, and as always, the package looked like it was used for target practice, but that is common for UPS. Fortunately there was no damage to the product. Thank you etrailer for a great experience. We will order from you again. 376753
Solid rack, a little pricey if you add the lock/stabilizer bolt. Its solidly built and should do the job for transporting my bikes. Just installed it on my 2018 4runner. Very easy installation. I did have some problems with interference between my mountain bike, and my wifes hybrid.Have not tried any of my road bikes on it yet. I have a handmade Pelizzoli (Ciocc) steel frame and Im a little wary of putting it on the rack because of what I believe is a major flaw of the rack. I spent the extra money to upgrade to the Roadway because it folds(good) and it comes with the stabilizer setup(weak)....The stabilizer that clamps to the downtime is so flimsy it barely holds the bike from moving. I haven`t used for any long trips yet so I can't say if the swaying , and the bikes banging into each other will be a problem.Overall I would say I like the steadiness of the rack frame. I may have to fine tune the mounting system..BTW I used cheapy bungee cords wrapped around the frame thru the font wheels to keep the forks straight and the wheel from spinning .I`ll update once i get a trip or two on it 555630
Great Rack. It is a bit heavy, but that's what it takes to hold two bikes. No problems there. The rack assembled in 10 minutes and fit directly into the 1 1/4 tow hitch. Everything worked great. Just an observation....I think Thule messed up a little bit on the design (This did not effect my rating). The base of the unit can hinge away from the back of the vehicle to about a 135 degree angle. If the hinge was able to go all the way down to 180 degrees and lock in place, the same rack could be used to store bicycles in the off-season just by adding a base with the 1 1/4 inch vertical hitch slot to fit the rack in a fully upright position. 502066
We do have a selection of hitch locks that can be used to lock your hitch covers to your hitch. One of our most popular is # 2848DAT
Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set - Padlock - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches
$21.95 that includes a 1-1/4 inch, 2 inch, and a coupler lock that are all keyed the same. However, for a single 1-1/4 inch hitch lock you could try # 7680
Pro-Tech Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver
$8.13. Or the # 7683
Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Flush Design for 2" Trailer Hitches
$23.22 for a 2 inch compatible hitch.
The rack is great. Thule rips you off if you want a security lock. You have to buy one from them because they use a unique threads per inch on their security bolt. Other bolts will not fit (I've tried). The Thule lock is 2 -3 times the cost of other locks. I bought a heavy duty chain and a heavy duty Master lock that chains my rack to my car. 440486
Product as advertised.... appears high quality and easy to assemble When I found this item for less money in a separate add, the difference was promptly refunded Shop wisely Thank you 937300
Solid construction, easy to put together, etrailer is awesome, 933537
Easy to put together and looks sleek. 931514
Works fine. It's more effort to attach to the hitch than I thought it would be -- nothing big, but enough that I won't be carrying the rack in the trunk as I thought I might. And while the mounts for the two bikes don't look like they're too close to each other, our two bikes still get in each other's way. If I could have a do-over, I'd get a platform rack. 931336

The bike rack is easy to install and set up and works great for short or long distance hauling of the bike without affecting the access to rear hatch. Great company to do business with. Great customer service. 921048
