Video Transcript for Putco Element In-Channel Window Rain Guards Installation - 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're gonna be checking out these Putco In-Channel Element Rain Guards, on our 2022, Ford F-250 Super Duty. So these are gonna be a nice addition to your truck. Not only do they look cool, but they also protect the rain from getting in. So you can have that window down when you're driving it all the times and not worry about letting that rain in. I know, I don't like driving around with the windows all the way up. It might drop-in because I'd rather have it down.

Just have some fresh air coming in and you don't have to worry about getting hit with that rain. Let's check them out. They're gonna be custom made for your F-250. So they're gonna fit, right up here in the windows. You're gonna get, as in a kit of four, so you're gonna get two front window visors and two rear ones.

So this is the passenger side here. They fit up into the channels, right here. They stick with some 3M tape. And every time you push it up there with the window, it's gonna get it stick up there and get to stay up there. Like I said, I think they look pretty cool added onto the truck.

And the functionality is just nice to have that window open, when you're driving down the road and not getting hit with rain. You never know what's gonna happen. Maybe the AC doesn't work or something. You need to have those windows down, to get some air-flow. I'll much rather handle that than get rain in the face.

Taking a closer look at them. You can kind of see the edges there, it's designed so that when that water does hit it, or that rain does hit it, it's not gonna go inside the vehicle. It's gonna run off and drop down here. And that's for both of these, your front and your rear one. They're also tinted, so I think that adds to the appeal as their look and helps you out with that sun coming through. Another thing would be it's a polycarbonate construction. So it's pretty tough and durable. Just remember that when you're going to install it, don't worry about breaking, if you have to bend it just a little bit to get it installed. They're made to be able to have that flexibility to do that. Speaking of the installation. Nice thing about that is you don't really need any tools. You just need some alcohol to wipe down the inside here to go and install it. But there's no drilling or anything required. You don't have to modify your vehicle. It's pretty easy, check out how I did it. First part of the installation is unpacking them. You can see they're gonna have these nice foam sleeves they're in. You're gonna see the markings here, on them. And it's gonna see, the PF is gonna be passenger front. So that's where we know the put this one, right here. So I'm gonna go ahead and undo this, and unwrap our visor. Also the former side, it's gonna have the 3M tape right here, all along. I'm not gonna quite peel that off, just yet. I'm gonna kind of leave it there right now. Just make sure you hold it up, to make sure it's length is right. That looks like it's gonna go right with the contour of the window. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna get a towel and some rubbing alcohol. Get that on there and clean out the inside area here. That way, no dirt on there or any issues. That way, that tape can stick better. Then I'm gonna come along here, to apply it to the inside. Like I said, just kind of get any dirt out there, It's a pretty new truck, so it being a 2022, there's not too much dirt in there, but I just wanna be safe. Because I wanna make sure they'll stick up or they're supposed to. To go on that one, we're gonna do the same thing on the rear passenger side. Get that nice and cleaned off. Now, I left the tape on there, just because it's bright white. So I wanted to show you this part, that's pretty important. So this tab actually goes in-between your door and the mirror. So it goes in this side section, right here. It doesn't go into the middle. So I just wanted to show you that. See this tab here, it's gonna slide in the side like that. So it's gonna allow this portion, to go in the center of the window. So it's gonna fit in there just like that. But I figured it was easier to show you with this white indicator here, because it's gonna be gray. And it's gonna kind of match the background. So now I'm gonna peel off this tape, all around it. Then we're gonna stick it into place. All right, so the same thing we did in practice, go and put that tab in-between the mirror and the door. And then this part will go up into the center. Now you might have to bend it up here at the top, just a little bit, to get it to fit into place. You can even come down just a little bit to get it into the door. But it's not as bad as it seems. There we go, I think that's right in the groove there. There we go, now push it up into place. Push it into the side there. Now, the next step is to run the window up. So be careful not to just do the automatic. Don't just hit it and let it go up on its own. Kind of pull back on the lever and let it slowly go up and start that way just to make sure it doesn't hit at the bottom, because that's, You can see it does hit a little bit, but it's pushing out and it's getting use to that visor being there. So we're gonna keep going up and we get it here, that's gonna be another spot that I'm worried about in the top corner, we'll see. All right, we got that set. Awesome, so that's a good fit. So you wanna run it all the way up and down from about here. About five times they say, to kinda help push that visor up into place. It looks like we're not having any issues with contact or anything, that's pretty good. And once we do it the fifth time, we're gonna go all the way up and leave it there for about 12 to 24 hours. We've removed the foam from our rear one. Again, just wanna point out right here, it says PR, so that's gonna be passenger rear. So we know where that one fits. It's gonna be easier when you go to set this up. So it only can go this way. So we're gonna put the curve part towards the back of the window. And you got the tab here and that's gonna go towards the front. So much, like last time, probably clear it off, this window sill and the rubber to make this stick a little bit better. So let me peel back the 3M, and I suppose the sticky portion. All right, with that removed, you're gonna put this up in-between, like last time. You're gonna have to slightly bend this one in, just a little bit, to get this tab to go in this side. Just like that, easily up and in there. And then we're just gonna shove it towards the top. And much like last time I'm gonna hop in there and roll the window up. Slowly, go up that first time. Don't let it do the automatic. Make sure it stays manual, so you can control it. See if it hits at the bottom. Ah, looks like it is making slight contact there. Oh, we got by it, that's good. That's gonna help it, push it up in there. So do that five times again. Go slow, three. Good, looks like we got a nice fit on that one and much like the front window, you can go ahead and leave this alone for 12 to 24 hours. Overall, the install wasn't that bad. It was a little tricky, you know, to bend that and get it in place. You are a little worried that, you know, it's kinda cold right now. So I didn't wanna break that plastic doing that, but it bends more than you think it will. So don't worry about that aspect of it. But getting it up into place and after the first initial, you know, trial, the window, was a little worried, it hit it. But after every time I ran up there, it just kind of push it into place even more. And now it's all the way when I roll the windows up or down, so easy installation. It looks nice on our truck and I think that's about it. So I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

The rear Rain Guards went on easy. The front was a pain and would not seat properly to allow the window to go up freely. It didn't help that Putco decided to send a QR code to get instructions although install was pretty straight forward since they will only fit one way. The QR code didn't go straight to the site for the instructions. I had to jump through too many hoops and never got there. Whatever happened to just putting the instructions in the box? The window still contacts the front end of the guard. Perhaps it will seat if I leave the window up for a while. Instructions would probably have helped. Packaging was poor as well and although they weren't damaged, I have seen how delivery drivers handle packages and this could have been a problem.

Yes, I have heard of the manufacturers now using the QR codes to have people download the manuals rather than have them in the box. I am linking the manual in the link below so that it can be referenced. If you leave the windows up for 24 hours it can help to seat the rain guards into the channel.

These inside the track window deflectors did not last. 2 Windows wouldnt close correctly, drivers window broke early on and was replaced by the manufacturer. I cannot reccomend this product at all. Took them off and next time will get the outside the door type.

by:

These just barely work. I really wanted them to work since they were a decent price and simply install without the need for adhering to the exterior trim.

Over the last year of ownership I've had to resort to modifying them so that windows do not catch and stop each time I put them up. After trimming and removing material, I still get the occasional hang up and the window will not close until the shade is pushed out of the way.

Do yourself a favor and look at either another brand or a style that adheres to the outside of the window gasket.

These window channel visors are ok, but were difficult to install. They do look nice, but all 4 of them catch the window....anytime u roll down the window and try to roll it back up...you have to push on the visor with your finger briefly, so window can continue all the way up. In my opinion, is a horrible design.

I ordered these from etrailer for my new truck because I had no problems with the others I had ordered for my Jeep. As soon as I opened the package I noticed chunks of plastic in the box. The ear on the lower corner of the drivers door front was broken off. More than likely in shipping (cause the were poorly packaged). I installed them anyways and hoping it will stay in place. Not having very good luck with my order from etrailer this time around...........

Well I luv the style but hate the function. The front keeps hanging up upon roll up. I have a 2016 F150. Followed directions about adjustment of the window pressure. To no avail. So I never roll down the passenger window when alone in the truck.

by:

Keep having issues with the tape holding them in place. When the tape fails, they interfere with the proper operation of the windows. Otherwise, good product.

These rain guards look great on my truck. Ive had the stick-on rain guards before and would eventually would have problems. Just follow directions on installing all will work out looking great.

After looking around for a few weeks for window visors I decided to give these a try for my 2011 Silverado 1500. The well packed shipment arrived in within a few days, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I first opened it. The visors themselves and the adhesive strips seemed a little thin and danity. I dry-fitted everything before removing the tape backing to get an idea of how they attach. Total install took 15-20 minutes. It has been a year, and they function as advertised, and still look good (they've held up to several pretty aggressive automatic car washes). These allow you to keep the window cracked in hot weather without worrying about a passing rain drenching your interior. These are visors, not rain deflectors.

by:

These air deflectors are for a 2015 Silverado, they fit perfectly. This is a better quality compared to anything you buy at the autoparts. I've bought several items from etrailer over the last few months,I am very satisfied and would recommend this website to everyone.

by:

These are the best Chevy Cruze visors you can buy. The others do not cover the rear window completely, but these do. They also have a straight line boxy look that matches the lines of your car too! These are very good window ventvisors, and I couldn’t be happier with them. Definitely 5 stars!

by:

Extremely easy to install. Look great on the truck. No fitment problems at all. About the only complain I have is that it was difficult to get the backing off the adhesive! Not much of a complaint there...

by:

This is my first Putco product. I like the custom fit and easy installation. In channel fit looks good on my 2008 Ford F-450. Etrailer has done it again.Fast shipment, quality products, and fair prices. I'll be back.

by:

Quality Product. Quick Shipment. Easy installation. Very happy with these window guards.

by:

Excellent, way better than the WeatherTech rain guards I had on there before.

by:

Fit was great but both back visors are damaged. Driver side has a big crack, passenger side has several small cracks. Front visors are great and easy install. Look really sleek!!

by:

I was worried about the price, but once I had them in hand and installed I was more than satisfied. Followed the instructional video, and had no problems installing. These are solid, and look great on the truck.

by:

Forget the Putco, order the WeatherTech for a better, more secure installation. Lesson learned. I ordered these figuring to save a little money. Not worth it in the long run.

by:

2017 Ram Bighorn. Excellent product and easy to install.

by:

I received the window vents for my 2002 Suburban and they were in great condition, easy to install and fix perfectly. Etrailer is a great retailer and ships fast and at a reasonable price. Thanks for your help and I will be sharing your business and using it again.
Sincerely,
Capt. Dan
