Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

ShockStrap Ratcheting Tie-Down

shockstrap used on motorcycle

This one-of-a-kind ratchet strap from ShockStrap is great for nearly any application, from securing your cargo on your vehicle for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer. The 7' length of this strap is perfect for securing a motorcycle, UTV, or snowmobile in your truck bed or trailer.

Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, this tie-down is uniquely designed with a built-in shock absorber that allows the strap to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for toys that have suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.

Built-In Shock

The webbing of a standard strap can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts.

Close up of 1.5-Inch Ratcheting ShockStrap TieDown

But this ratchet strap features a built-in urethane shock that's designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-down stays taut and won't loosen overtime. The built-in shock helps to keep the tie-down from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged toys.

In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use this to tie down a motorcycle, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the bike's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shock absorbs these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-down stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

Close-up of open ShockStrap ratchet

This tie-down features a commercial-grade, heavy duty ratchet. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap Ratchet Strap

To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the durable S-hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points. And the retention clips on the hooks ensure that the hooks stay in place on the anchors while you're loading, as well as while you're traveling.

Soft loops, which are on both sides of the strap, can be used to tie down a piece of equipment that may otherwise be difficult to secure. So instead of using the hooks, which may scratch or scuff your toys and might be difficult to run through or around other cargo, you can easily cinch the tie-down around your gear and then secure the tie-down to your anchor points as usual.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shock. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

To activate the shock, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shock until light is visible through the bolt holes in the shock. In warm climates, the shock can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shock, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of this tie-down strap has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.

A safety strap is also built into this tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shock. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

Video Transcript for ShockStrap Tie-Down Straps Manufacturer Demo

Fred: Hi, this is Fred and Tris for the Shockstrap. Today we're going to do a pull off and show you exactly how we work compared to our competition. And again, Shockstrap itself, once you've stretched it and engaged it, that bottom hook doesn't come loose as you'll see shortly. And one of the things that we compare ourselves to our competition, a lot of folks like to see the size of the hooks. As you can see, most big box stores, this is what you get, and ours obviously is oversized. That comes into play when you've got a big quad, a side by side or even motorcycle handlebars.

The little hooks just don't typically go around them. So what we did on our machine, so that we literally could show you a direct comparison side by side, we had some little half inch pipe welded on here just to make it blatantly obvious how it works. We've got it tight, and the first thing we're going to do, and then we'll talk about a few other things, but Tris, let's just go ahead and act like we're hitting a washboard road, it's honestly a speed bump it could happen, and see what happens. You ready That . I know that looks too easy. Right there with you folks, but if you knew how tight this was.Tris: There we go.Fred: Literally, that is a guy thing where you're ...

we've got this tight on purpose. Actually, if you look at ours you're going to see a gap here, we hardly have ours stretched at all, but we really wanted to show you hitting the bumps and what happens. I don't want to belabor the point, most of you know, if you've had straps that they can come loose or come off. And again, most of you know, that if you have our straps, it's got a two year warranty, but we have customers out to 10 years on them now. And, once you engage them, that hook doesn't come loose.

As a matter of fact, Tris has one from 2006, tell them about it Tris.Tris: Had an individual come into our booth at a trade show and say, "I think you guys would be interested in this, bought this in 2006 and when I use it on my snow machines and on my quads, when I'm not using it I throw it in the back of the pickup, so in the winter it's buried in the snow, and in the summer the suns beating down on it", he says. So, here's an example of one that's seven years old and now it still works. We put it on the machine and it does everything that a brand new one will do.Fred: It is amazing, he gave us a pair of those, in fact we gave him two new ones to trade him. He didn't even want to trade those out at first. He literally was saying, "But they still work".

We had to say, "Buddy, you're not going to get five more years out of them, so please let us have them", real story. In fact, I had one recently a lady named Diane from California, her husbands a long-haul trucker, and she does travel with him and he's always trying to teach her how to tie knots and said, "Fred, I'm not a knot tier, I will never be a knot tier, I use your straps I just set them, they work, we go down the road". Recently she say, "I needed to buy more, in fact he's the one that asked me to buy more". I quizzed her a little further, I said, "But I thought he was a rope guy". She goes, "You know what, he wants three 19 footers for himself, so I think you just won him over". It's always nice to have those stories, and Tris was in Miami recently at another dealer and this is another funny story.Tris: I walked into this shop, it was a motorcycle and four-wheeler shop and I asked the owner of the shop if he had time to watch a video and I had to Shockstraps in my hand. And he saw what I had and he says, "I don't need to watch any video" and he says, "How many cases of those straps do you have with you, I've been looking for them and I can't find them".Fred: He has been a dealer years ago and we got him back very quickly. So, the other thing that I didn't mention as I was showing you the competition, if you ever get the chance when you're going to go buy straps, look at our packaging and look at theirs. If you flip theirs over on the back, it typically says right on there in black and white on the bullets, every 30 to 50 miles pull over and adjust the tension on the strap. That's true, there is no doubt, they do come loose, or quite frankly they may be off. You won't see that on ours folks. That bottom hook never comes off. Tris, let's just pull this again just to show people. You may see it flex, as you can see, obviously the Shockstrap working, but that bottom hook just stays tight doing exactly what it's meant to do. There's always tension on that bottom hook. So, we told you about real customers. We certainly told you we have a two year warranty, we haven't mention that it's 6 foot, 10 foot, and 19 foot, and black and red. It's all in the stretch, Shockstrap. Thank you.

Awesome straps. We'll worth the cost. The only product to safely and securely tie down SxS or ATV toa trailer without worrying about plain ratchet straps coming loose while transporting.

I brought this product as my 29' boat needed very strong bow straps to address movement while trailering. Just completed a 3,000 mile tow and the difference was amazing!! No jerking motion and the shock absorbers did their job on I95 bumps.

I highly recommend this product.

I love these straps! They don't come loose and hold the SXS really well. Much better than standard straps! Standard straps would come loose on my SXS, these do not. I like the length, so I'm not tying off long ends. The loops give great flexibility too. Great straps, highly recommended and would buy again. My only question/concern is how long the "rubber" shock part will last. Don't know if over time it will crack or sun will harm, etc. But other than that they are great.

Still the best tie downs Ive found. Would buy again!

Like everyone else I would go through the efforts of strapping down a utv only to see my ratchet straps hanging off the trailer as I look at my review mirror 10 minutes into my trip. Never again! Used these on a 200 mile round trip down all kinds of roads (freeway, country roads, dirt roads, etc) and never had to adjust or tighten them. A must have.

These shock straps are great for hauling our ATV. We had been using just regular ratchet straps and had to stop several times to tighten them back up, but with these shock straps, they stay tight the whole trip! They are truly wonderful!

I trailer my golding trike from MN to AZ or TX every winter.
Other tie downs tended to loosen up during the trip allowing my bike to move around.
These shock straps ABSOLUTELY stay tight and hold during the 1200 or 1500 mile trips!
TOTALLY recommend to all!!

Looks like an excellent product from all the reviews and highly recommended by Dirt Trax TV. Delivery was good although it was one day late but not e-trailers fault. The tracking was excellent. I could see where my package was at any moment. Will post more once I actually use the product.

Although these straps are on the more expensive side of things, I’m glad I made the investment. The shock absorbers on each of the straps works great and keeps my RZR from bouncing, as well as not having to retighten them. I highly recommend these!

These tie downs have been excellent. Use them to tie down our ATV, and our zero turning radius mower without any issues whatsoever. Used the tie downs frequently over the summer/fall months with confidence over very hilly terrain. Keep them clean or clean up if you get them dirty, then store where not exposed to the elements and should last for years.

I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.

I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.

For a tire this size I recommend the Rack'Em Manufacturing Removable Wheel Chock Item # RA-17 to stabilize your scooter. It works for tires up to 6.5-inches, so this will be a great fit for you. The MaxxTow simply bolts on where you want to install it, but the hardware is not included to install. I attached a helpful installation video for you to check...

  • Tie Downs for Scooter on Cargo Carrier
Your photo did not come through, but if you are sure your scooter will fit inside the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches # C18152, I do have a suggestion for tie-downs. What I recommend are motorcycle tie-downs, as these will work with your scooter as well, the ShockStrap Ratchet Motorcycle Tie-Downs with Shock Absorbers # 297-7RSBB-M. This is a quantity of four straps and they are shock-absorbing to keep your scooter steady with constant tension so the straps won't come loose. I...

  • B&W Biker Bar Compatibility with 2018 Yamaha Venture Motorcycle
There is not a confirmed fit for your 2018 Yamaha Venture. The B&W Biker Bar has only been tested on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, but if your frame has a round bar that is 1.375 to 1.5 inches in diameter and a width between 10-14.5 inches then # BWMC2304 could work. If you don't have those specs on your frame, then I recommend the MaxxTow Adjustable Wheel Chock # MTMWC-01R. Then I recommend using the ShockStrap Ratcheting Motorcycle Tie-Down Kit w Built-In Shock Absorbers # 297-7RSBB-M.

  • Wheel Chock Recommendation for 2015 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low
Most likely you are going to need the part # RA-17 as it can accept a tire that is up to 6-1/2 inches wide. You will need to check the width of your tire to see if this will work. Then you will need tie downs. For tie downs ShockStrap has a set of 4 straps specifically for motorcycles, # 297-7RSBB-M. With the built in shocks these straps won't accidently slip off. Or you could use strap set # 06303 combined with traditional ratchet straps such as # 317-340720. Check out the install...

  • Recommended Trailer Tie Down for 2020 Harley Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra Trike
I have a solution for you to secure your 2020 HD Tri-Glide Ultra Trike to the floor of a trailer, but the B&W Biker Bar # BWMC2301 is only compatible with the 2014 and earlier Tri-Glides. After 2014 they changed the location of the foot-brake, making this product incompatible with the Tri-Glide series trikes. Instead, I recommend using tie down anchors like the Brophy Swiveling D-Ring Anchors with Backing Plates # RR6K-4 which will provide you with 4 points on the trailer to secure your...

  • How to Set Up E-Track on Trailer Floor For Transporting 2 Motorcycles on Trailer
There are so many variables involved here, including the size of the bikes, how you want them to sit in the trailer, the weight of the bikes and the geometry of the bike's frames that I couldn't begin to provide you with specifics, but I'd be happy to provide some general information that should prove helpful. If it were me setting things up, I'd use 2 lengths of e-track like the # E19148 mounted to the trailer floor, but run them in a side to side orientation, instead of lengthwise. Place...

  • What Moped Carrier do You Recommend for two Addmotor M66 R7s on a Cadillac SRX?
The best route for transporting your two Addmotor m66 r7 mopeds on your Cadillac SRX's 2-inch receiver is the Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer - 7-1/2' Long - 1,640 lbs # K2MMT5X7. The Detail K2 Utility Trailer has a bed dimension of 88 inches long x 52 inches wide which is plenty of space to fit your 72-inch long mopeds. Given that the handlebar width of the mopeds is 30 inches, you may have a bit of overhang with the handlebars, but it will not be enough to be a safety...

  • Anchoring E-Track On Floor Of Van For Transporting a Motorcycle
To secure the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM59150 you need to use the E-Track Backing Plates # e66RR to secure them to the floor. The screws can easily pull out of the plywood especially considering your van will be absorbing a lot of road shock. You will want to ensure that the plywood is also secured to the floor either with the backing plates or in another similar manner. This will ensure that your Harley stays secured to the floor and will not move. I recommend using the Erickson...
