It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

ShockStrap Ratcheting Tie-Down

shockstrap twist snap hook strap with shock

Made in America to military-grade specifications, this one-of-a-kind ratchet strap from ShockStrap is great for nearly any application, from securing cargo on your vehicle for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer. The 12' length of this strap is perfect for securing heavy loads to your trailer and tying down UTVs and utility tractors.

Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, this tie-down is uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the strap to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for vehicles with suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.

Built-In Shocks

shockstrap rubber shock

The webbing of a standard strap can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts. But this ratchet strap features 2 built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-down stays taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks help to keep the tie-down from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged gear.

In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use this to tie down a UTV, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the UTV's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shock absorbs these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-down stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

shockstrap large handle ratchet

This tie-down features a commercial-grade, field-replaceable ratchet that is easy to use. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap Ratchet Strap

shockstrap twist snap hooks

To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the sturdy twisted snap hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shocks. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

To activate the shocks, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shocks until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shocks, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Additional ShockStrap accessories can be added to help with load securement. Use the ShockStrap strap latches (297-2STY - sold separately) to secure the hooks on this tie-down strap to anchor points, ensuring that the hooks won't pop off while you are securing your load or while you are traveling.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of this tie-down strap has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.

A safety strap is also built into this tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shocks. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

Video Transcript for Review of ShockStrap Ratchet Straps - Trailer - Truck Bed - SS28MV

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we can take a look at the shock strap, 12-foot long ratchet tie-down strap with the shock absorbers and that's for a quantity of one strap. Now, this is a shock-absorbing ratcheting tie-down strap, which will let you secure the cargo in your truck bed, or your trailer. And I want to zoom into the unique feature on this strap, which is this built-in urethane shock absorbers here. And these are designed to help absorb any impact to ensure constant tension on the strap.

Even as your load shifts, these absorbers are made out of urethane-based material, which will stand up to extreme temperatures. Even the salt, water, moisture oil, and most chemicals, they do attach it to the strap by using these sturdy grade eight bolts and the nyloc nuts, that'll hold the shocks in place. You'll also notice on this side, you'll see this extra safety strap right here, and the safety strap has two purposes. First one is it gives you an extra strap if for some reason the shock absorbers would break. It'll give you an extra strap there to keep your cargo connected.

But, basically for these to break is highly unlikely. The manufacturer says that these would have to stretch 18 to 20 inches from even think about breaking. And when you do tighten this down, you'll notice that these don't hardly move at all. So, to actually get it stretched that far would probably not happen. But either way, they do have this as a safety strap.

But the other thing they use this for is a limiter, so you don't over-ratchet the strap. And the way you do that is when you hook this up and start tightening it down, you keep tightening it. And to tighten these shock absorbers up this safety strap will also tighten up. But you want it once tighten, what you want to be able to do, is slide your fingers between the safety strap and the shock absorbers. And that'll give you the correct tension you need on the strap.

So, in other words, once it's tightened, just slide your hand in there. You'll be able to slide your fingers out. That'll tell you that it's correct tension. Now its strap is DOT, Department of Transportation approved. It is made in the USA. Now, because of the shock absorber feature on the strap, the strap is great for securing cargo that will have a suspension system that could compress a rebound when you travel rough terrain. So, this strap will be great for tying down snowmobiles, motorcycles, utility tractors, or ATVs, or UTVs. Because when you tighten the strap down, it will have a suspension and you could hit some rough terrain that would cause the suspension to activate, and it could make the strap loosen. What would this strap will do, is with these shock absorbers it'll keep that tension on the strap. So, it's a nice feature to have. Now the ratchet mechanism right here, makes it very easy to tighten the strap, and maintain the tension on the strap. You can see it has a nice wide aluminum handle and the release lever right in the middle here that you pull up on. It ensures a nice, simple, safe operation. Even if you're wearing thick gloves, you can still operate the handle. Now, I'm going to show you what we're talking about on the ratchet. You can see right now it's in the ratchet set up. So you can just. You can see as you crank it, it's pulling in and tightening up the strap. And the other thing you can do is if when you go to hook up, you need some more strap. You can pull out as much as you need, just by pulling up on this middle lever here. And then extend the handle all the way to where it's no longer in the ratchet connection. And that'll release the strap, and you can see the pull-out as much strap as you need. Simple as that. Once you get out as much as you need, then just pull back up on this lever, put it into the ratchet position. And you see it just like that. Your back to right ratcheting it, tightening it up. So it makes it very easy to hook up, but very easy to operate. Now, I also want to show you the twisted snap hooks right on the end here. Again, we'll zoom in. But you can see they call them twisted, because they do have some hooks that are just flap this way. These are twisted, 90 degrees. Hedge an offset of 90 degrees. And if you notice on the hook itself, has a nice wide one-inch opening right here. That will allow a hassle-free connection to your anchor points. And you can see the spring-loaded retention clips right here. You pushed down to hook it up. Once its hook it up, release it and that'll help keep the hooks connected to your anchor points. Same on this one, same as you can see. Now, all the steel hardware on this strap is a corrosion-resistant yellow zinc, chromate coating on it. This will hold up to hot, cold, wet weather conditions. The webbing on the strap itself, is a durable black polyester webbing, which is UV resistant, withstands abrasions, and water absorption. The dimension on it, This whole strap is two inches wide. We've mentioned it's 12 feet in length. Now, the minimum usable length for this is going to be 32 inches. Now, it does have a maximum load or breaking strength. And it is stamped right on the portion right here is 10,000 pounds. Also lists the safe working load limit, which is a third of the brake strength. So that would be 3,333 pounds. Now, one note I do want to mention is on tie-down straps. You must choose them according to the safe working load limit that we just mentioned. Basically, the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps that are being used. So to give you an example, if you're using straps that have a working load limit of 500 pounds each to hold down a load weighing a thousand pounds, that'll tell you that you need at least two straps to safely secure that load. And it is always recommended to use straps in pairs. But that should do it for the review on this shock strap, 12 foot long ratchet tie-down strap with the shock absorbers for a quantity of one..

Awesome straps. We'll worth the cost. The only product to safely and securely tie down SxS or ATV toa trailer without worrying about plain ratchet straps coming loose while transporting.

Review from a similar Shock-Absorbing Ratchet in Ratchet Straps

I love these straps! They don't come loose and hold the SXS really well. Much better than standard straps! Standard straps would come loose on my SXS, these do not. I like the length, so I'm not tying off long ends. The loops give great flexibility too. Great straps, highly recommended and would buy again. My only question/concern is how long the "rubber" shock part will last. Don't know if over time it will crack or sun will harm, etc. But other than that they are great.

Still the best tie downs Ive found. Would buy again!

I brought this product as my 29' boat needed very strong bow straps to address movement while trailering. Just completed a 3,000 mile tow and the difference was amazing!! No jerking motion and the shock absorbers did their job on I95 bumps.

I highly recommend this product.

These shock straps are great for hauling our ATV. We had been using just regular ratchet straps and had to stop several times to tighten them back up, but with these shock straps, they stay tight the whole trip! They are truly wonderful!

I trailer my golding trike from MN to AZ or TX every winter.
Other tie downs tended to loosen up during the trip allowing my bike to move around.
These shock straps ABSOLUTELY stay tight and hold during the 1200 or 1500 mile trips!
TOTALLY recommend to all!!

Looks like an excellent product from all the reviews and highly recommended by Dirt Trax TV. Delivery was good although it was one day late but not e-trailers fault. The tracking was excellent. I could see where my package was at any moment. Will post more once I actually use the product.

Although these straps are on the more expensive side of things, I’m glad I made the investment. The shock absorbers on each of the straps works great and keeps my RZR from bouncing, as well as not having to retighten them. I highly recommend these!

When I first saw these straps pictured, I was intrigued. Later, when I needed some new straps, I quickly decided to give them a try. Now, after using them for a year, I can confidently state that they are great! The materials are top-notch! Most importantly, I tow our side x side securely!

These are great!!! Just got back from a 1200 mile Round trip to Tennessee. Used these to strap down 2 SXS. These straps didn’t loosen on bit.

Been on several long trips using these to secure my Honda Pioneer and never has once loosen. Theyre pricey but would trust these straps to secure any load.

I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.

I have had a few sets of these Shock Straps for years now, bought the originals from the developer at a trade show.
I needed more, and etrailer shipped fast even during the holidays.

Shock Straps are pricey but worth it when you need to secure a load and not worry about it.

I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.

Picked up product at our gate this morning. Probably delivered last night, Oct 25, as promised. Showed up just in time. They are excellent quality and have good hook and sling options to tie down anything we are going to trailer. We will be using them next week to trailer our folks Polaris Razor from Az White Mountains to Tucson area. Will also be using to trailer our compact backhoe/front end loader to White Mountains and friends around area. Been using chains and ratchet boomers and before that other ratchet cloth tie downs. All have to be checked and sometimes reset at every stop.
