Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.
Made in America to military-grade specifications, these one-of-a-kind ratchet straps from ShockStrap are great for nearly any application, from securing your cargo on your vehicle for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer. The 15' length of these straps is perfect for securing a motorcycle, UTV, or snowmobile in your truck bed or trailer.
Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, these tie-downs are uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the strap to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for toys that have suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.
The webbing of standard straps can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts. But these ratchet straps feature built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-downs stay taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks helps to keep the tie-downs from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged toys.
In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use this to tie down a motorcycle, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the bike's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shocks absorb these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-downs stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.
Each tie-down features a commercial-grade, heavy-duty ratchet. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.
To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the durable S-hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points. And the retention clips on the hooks ensure that the hooks stay in place on the anchors while you're loading, as well as while you're traveling.
Soft loops, which are on both sides of the straps, can be used to tie down a piece of equipment that may otherwise be difficult to secure. So instead of using the hooks, which may scratch or scuff your toys and might be difficult to run through or around other cargo, you can easily cinch each tie-down around your gear. Just wrap a soft tie around the axle of your UTV or around the handlebars of your motorcycle, and then secure the tie-down to your anchor points as usual.
Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shock. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.
To activate the shock, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shock until light is visible through the bolt holes in the shock. In warm climates, the shock can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.
Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shock, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.
The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of these tie-down straps has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.
The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.
The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.
A safety strap is also built into each tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shock. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the shock strap, 15 foot long ratchet tie-down straps that have the shock absorbers. This is for a quantity of two straps. Now this is a shock absorbing ratcheting tie-down strap, which will let you secure cargo in your truck, bed, or trailer. And I want to zoom in and show you the unique feature on these straps, which are this built-in urethane shock absorber right here. This is designed to help absorb any impact to ensure constant tensioning of the strap, even as your load shifts.
This shock absorber itself is a urethane based material, stands up to extreme temperatures, to saltwater, moisture, oil, and most chemicals. As you can see, they attach it to the strap, using grade eight bolts, and the nylon nuts that hold the shock in place. Also, if you notice on there, there has an extra safety strap and its safety strap actually has two purposes. The first one is to give you an extra strap, if for some reason the shock absorber would break. Now, the shock absorber, right thing is probably unlikely, but just for safety reasons, they do do put that strap in there.
The manufacturer does say that this strap, this shock absorber would have to stretch about 18 to 20 inches before it would even think about breaking. And when you tighten this strap, you're never going to get it to stretch that much at all. But anyway, the other reason the safety strap is here, secondly, is to act as a limiter, so you don't over ratchet the strap itself. It'll give you guidelines, so once you hook up your hooks and tighten it down, as you keep tightening, it - it'll stretch the absorber and then the strap will get closer. So what it'll give you a guideline is you can take your hand and you slide your fingers there.
You'd be able to slide in between the safety strap and the shock absorber. And it'll give you the correct tension. So when you're being able to just push that in and pull it out and you know, you have enough tension on the strap. Now, these straps are DOT - Department of Transportation - approved. They are made in the USA.
Also because of the shock absorber feature, these straps are great for securing any cargo that might have a suspension system that could compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain. So these straps are great for tying down snowmobiles, motorcycles, each led tractors, or even ATVs or UTVs, cause they'll have a suspension system. And when you tighten them down, the straps are tight and then you're going along a rough road that suspension system will give and that'll help. That'll actually cause the straps to loosen. So what's nice with this strap, the shock absorber will take up that tension. Keep the tension on there. The ratchet mechanism right here, this makes it very easy to tighten down the strap and maintain tension on the strap. You can see just ratcheting it, lift it up, that you crank it. You can see that it's pulling the strap in. Has a nice wide aluminum handle and a release lever right here in the middle that our insured I simple, safe operation. Even if you're wearing any thick gloves, you still be elaborated. I want to zoom out and show you again. If you crank it, you can see that it's pulling the strap in. And the other nice features - If you go to hook up and you need to really have some of the strap all the way out, what you can do is pull up on this lever, rotate the handle out of the ratcheting mechanism, all the way toward and locks into place, and then that'll release the strap. And then you can pull the strap as far as you need, no tension at all, just free wheel as much as you need. And then once you get it hooked up, just again, pull your release lever, put the handle back into the ratcheting mechanism. Just like that. Go ahead and tighten it up. Well, very simple to hookup, very simple to ratchet. Now on the ends, let's zoom back in and I'll show you the hooks on the end, on each end of the strap, you can see it as these nice S folks that when you push down the retention clip, it'll give you a nice and one inch wide opening. So allows for a nice hassle-free connection to your anchor points. Do you notice also on the hook itself has a nice rubber coating to protect the gear, the truck, or the trailer. You hook these two and the retention clips. You can see your spring load. It keeps the hooks connected to the anchor points. And you'll also notice it has this integrated soft loop strap here, and it has a loop on the end. And what you'll do with that as if the hook is hard to attach somewhere, you can take this softly, run it let's say around an axle or a handlebar, and then pull it back, hook it to the hook there and then tighten it up. That'll help hold everything in place. Now all the steel hardware on these straps have a nice corrosion-resistant yellow zinc, combing cook coating on them, which will hold up the hot, cold or wet weather conditions. The webbing itself is a durable black polyester webbing. This is UV resistant, and has withstand abrasions and water absorption. The width on the strap again is one and a half inches wide. The length on these are 15 feet. Now they do also offer them in a shorter length. If you only need seven feet, they do have a seven foot length one which we do sell separately. It's part number SS-93-NV. Now the minimum usable length. In other words, for the strap, the minimum that could be and be used is 29 inches. And you'll also notice on the straps, it has this extra tag on it and that'll list the maximum load of breaking strength, which on these will be 3000 pounds and also the safe working load limit, which is always one third of the break strength. So 1000 pounds working load limit. Now on tie-down straps, they must be chosen according to that safe working load limit because the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. So just to give you an example, if you're using straps and let's say have a 500 pound working load limit, and you're tying down the load that weighs a thousand pounds, that's telling you you're going to need at least two straps to safely secure that load. And I do like to recommend that you always use straps in pairs, but that should do it for the review on the shock strap, 15 foot long ratchet tie-down straps with the shock absorbers for a quantity of two straps..

Review from a similar Shock-Absorbing Ratchet in Ratchet Straps
I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.

Geesh these are really large! Bought these over the 1.5" as it was almost the same price. But now getting them, I almost wish I got the small version for our Dirt Bikes. But these will for sure more then do! Heck.. I could even use them to pull a car out of a mud pit with these 2"ers. I'll keep them vs swapping for the smaller..

Well after one year I give it a 4 star plus rating. I haul a $1,500 snow thrower and I do not want it sliding around or coming loose. This product claimed it will hold...and it did...I tried good looking store bought straps and sometimes I would not even drive a mile and they were loose. I cannot afford that! BUT for as much as I am in and out with my work I wish they were a little quicker for me to secure. It is not that difficult once you get the hang of it, but I do it 15 times per snow fall and I would dream of straps secure and very fast to secure. Maybe secure hooks on each connection and no sifting strap thru each time. OVERALL if you want your cargo not to shift or come loose BUY THESE.

I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.

Great product when they work as designed. Unfortunately one of the ratchet handle assembly units would not operate properly. I was lucky to have one the right size that I could adapt to fit the strap, now it works perfectly. With a higher quality ratchet these straps are awesome

I love these straps! They don't come loose and hold the SXS really well. Much better than standard straps! Standard straps would come loose on my SXS, these do not. I like the length, so I'm not tying off long ends. The loops give great flexibility too. Great straps, highly recommended and would buy again. My only question/concern is how long the "rubber" shock part will last. Don't know if over time it will crack or sun will harm, etc. But other than that they are great.

Awesome straps. We'll worth the cost. The only product to safely and securely tie down SxS or ATV toa trailer without worrying about plain ratchet straps coming loose while transporting.

I brought this product as my 29' boat needed very strong bow straps to address movement while trailering. Just completed a 3,000 mile tow and the difference was amazing!! No jerking motion and the shock absorbers did their job on I95 bumps.
I highly recommend this product.

The product performed as it was advertised. The straps were well constructed and it was obvious a great deal of thought went into the design. I shoot sporting clay targets and haul a John Deere Gator 825 XUV to events, as a means of transportation around the course. Roads traveling to and from events, often, are gravel or dirt. This can and does create rough road surfaces to pull trailers and XUVs on. I used the Shock Straps this past week and watched to Gator as I drove on some rough terrain. The Gator did not move or sway during the trip. When I got to my destination, the straps were as tight as when I left for the trip. There was absolutely no play in the straps. Previously, I was always adjusting the straps and the XUV would rock and bounce on rough terrain. No any more.

These shock straps are great for hauling our ATV. We had been using just regular ratchet straps and had to stop several times to tighten them back up, but with these shock straps, they stay tight the whole trip! They are truly wonderful!

Like everyone else I would go through the efforts of strapping down a utv only to see my ratchet straps hanging off the trailer as I look at my review mirror 10 minutes into my trip. Never again! Used these on a 200 mile round trip down all kinds of roads (freeway, country roads, dirt roads, etc) and never had to adjust or tighten them. A must have.
