Does what I need it to do. Easy to take on and off as needed.
Installed to '21 Outback factory bars. Easily accepted different brand awning hardware.
Great product. Great quality. Instructions not real clear, so took me a couple of hours to assemble. Then another 15-20 minutes to secure to roof racks. I was working alone, extra hands would have helped. But extremely happy with quality and looks of product. We have lots of family that visit us, so I plan to carry luggage on the rack to free up space inside the vehicle on trips to and from the airport.
Love it! It's big enough to fit a bike carrier and a cargo bag on top of my MINI. Easy to assemble and install, solid construction. Great value for your money. If I have a gripe it's that the wind fairing on the front is VERY thin/fragile. I caught it with my bike tire when loading one day and the corner snapped right off like nothing. It's only about $XXX for the replacement.
I purchased the Rhino Rack Vortex SX crossbar systems for my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk with factory raised rails and panoramic roof. The crossbar systems are well away from the panoramic sunroof and poise no issues or touching with the sunroof opening or closing. When the sunroof opens, it drops down and slides back, again never touching any part of the Vortex SX rails or feet. Then I added Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket/XTray Large measuring 57" Long x 42" Wide. Both were easy to install, very stylish, and practical. I did a lot research for cross rails and cargo basket and I am very pleased with Rhino Rack Vortex SX crossbar and the Rhino-Rack Roof Cargo Basket from eTrailer.com
It is a mixed bag. I'll start with it did NOT fit on a my 2021 4runner with factory rails and crossbars. But the rack is not going back, I'll buy new rails and try it out.
The assembly went smooth enough, though the rubber sleeves between the two pieces are difficult to maneuver and I actually have a partial tear in one. Also, I was missing one rubber spacer and one nut to attach the fairing. I got a nut from [home improvement store] and will have to go back for the rubber spacer. That is kind of a big deal but not a killer.
The killer is 1) the bottom of the mounting hardware will not fit under the crossbar without rubbing the roof. At some points it won't fit at all. 2) When resting on the crossbars (which have an arc to them, the center bars running front to back on the basket rest touching the bar which prevent the mounting rails (the double rails on the left and right of the basket running from front to back) cannot rack the mounting hardware. 3) even if they did reach, the basket touches the factory rail covers.
There are two possible solutions: 1) find hardware that has a smaller bottom plate (or break out the dremel) and create some shims above the mount to reach the basket and lift it off of the rail covers. or 2) get new crossbars that are a little higher and flatter.
The problem with option 1 is I don't know how reliable that would be and how good it would look. The problem with option 2 is the cost of the basket (~$[XX]) plus new crossbars ($[XX]-[XX]) I could have ordered a complete new rack system like Victory, Prinsu or LFD.
Just got this today, so this is my initial impression. Build quality seems great. The instructions were a bit ambiguous but I figured it all out. I consider myself quite handy, so I was slightly surprised at the lack of detail & guidance in the picture only assembly instructions (Which bolt is pictured? Where do I use this washer? Is this oriented correctly?).
One thing I like about this is the infinite flexibility of the mounting points. It can accommodate a wide range of cross bar spacing. That makes it a breeze to switch between the stock bars on my 2018 Outback and my teardrop trailer, which has wide (39") and fixed spacing between my older Thule square cross bars.
The lowish profile makes me think it won't impact my gas mileage much when empty.
The price can't be beat for the extra large size. Others seemed way smaller for the same price point. Doesn't require some "extra" spacer for more length.
Very happy thus far. I'll update after more use.
Installation of the Rhino Rack was straightforward with the detailed instructions. The online installation videos and product overview were very helpful in making the purchase and in giving me the comfort level knowing I could install the rack on my own.
We're extremely pleased with the unique and rugged look of the Rhino Rack compared to others on the market. The customer service and ordering process were excellent.
Item came within a week. Quality is excellent and very durable, the powder-coat finish is topnotch, my son scratch it with a metal philip screw, and it was still black under the outter coating. Easy to assemble and install, if you follow the instruction manual properly. The only tricky part was the rubber sleeve that goes between the bars of the rack when assembling, and measurements when putting it on top of your vehicle. I installed this today all by myself, it wasnt easy but totally do-able just one person. The cargo basket had few minor (like 3) scuffs and dents, but none are noticeable. I am not worried about it too much, I worked at a warehouse and items will get minor unnoticeable dents and scuffs here and there due to movement of the item to differnet storages. It happens to all the products in the world. Over all I am very and over satisfied with this item, I bought it during sale for [$$$.$$]!
I have a jeep renegade 2016, and I bought the Large size. Dont get the small one, itll look weird on your renegade.
Installation went smoothly. Took about 2 hours. Fits our 2019 MDX perfectly.

Works well but after a year the basket is starting to show surface rust. We’re in New England on the coast so perhaps salt are is an issue in the long term.

The Rhino-rack is great! The directions were simple and the parts fit together well. It was an excellent addition to our Subaru Ascent. There were concerns over this interfering with our sunroof; however, we were able to adjust it so that both, the sunroof and the rack work perfectly. It does add a small amount of wind noise, but that was expected.
This review is about the install as I have not put the rack to its full use yet. I will update it after I finish installing the radar and weather instruments and have used it through storm season. I can say that this basket is very strongly constructed look like it will be very stable. The actual attachment of the basket to the rails was something of an issue as my rails sit about 7' off the ground and the bottom brackets for the attachment assemblies just did not want to go together very well. However, in the end we got them all installed (with the help of my daughter) and everything seems to be very solidly attached.
I was extremely impressed with this company. I bought a roof rack from them on a cyber Monday sale, it ended up that it wasn’t available. My payment was automatically refunded. I still wanted the rack though-I called them their customer service was great. They tracked down what happened with the rack and honored the sale price of the rack. I was really impressed with this company. I found them because of their great sale price on the rhino rack I bought, but when I need anything else, I’ll be looking here first.
Super happy with this basket. I was going back and forth between this and the smaller Rhino-Rack, I was worried this would look ridiculously large on my 2016 Kia Sorento. Turns out it's perfect, I think the smaller one would be silly small. Assembly and mounting was easy on the factory crossbars. Purchased a RRLB500 Rhino-Rack bag to go with it.
TIPS: It took me a minute to remember the front and rear crossbars are different widths. At first this was causing me to struggle to eyeball the centering of the basket. I ended up measuring from the bracket to a well-defined spot on the crossbar. My Vehicle was 3 5/8" Front, 2 3/4" Rear. I made a template from a clean piece of cardboard (from the box) and noted the measurements. The template was a good place to note the allen screw head size of 5/32. I used a drill with a 5/32 allen bit to snug the screws, then hand tightened them. I'll keep the template someplace logical, then next time I mount the rack it should go real quick and easy. Sorry for the lame garage photos.
This rack is sturdy and it was easy to install by myself. I like the mounting hardware and everything is snug. Finish is powder-coat and seems very durable.

Still going strong and looking good! My vehicle is always parked outside in the elements, and the rack is taking it like a pro.
Excellent rack...easy to assemble and mount. High quality. Looks good. Love that (unlike most racks) the floor rails run along the length of the vehicle. That makes the positioning of the mounting clamps infinitely adjustable instead of step-wise jumping from bar-to-bar for those with floor rails that go the other direction. This made it possible to mount on my fixed-spacing roof rails. I just bought a second, smaller one, for my tow vehicle!
Exactly as advertised. Great product.
Easy to build and install. Made our move from Illinois to Oregon much smoother. Very useful and we also get complaints on how it looks on our car.

I got my rhino rack and basket installed on my rocky ridge conversion silverado the day I received it. This rack/ basket puts the final touch on my truck for the apperance I was looking for.Thanks for a great product and for excellent customer service. I will definitely use etrailer in the future.
Good overall basket. Connecting the two pieces into each other with the waterproof sleeves were a bit of a hassle. Also, I mounted this item on top of a 2023 Toyota TRD 4 Runner factory roof rack and the included rubber mounting brackets are too tall to attach under the cross rails. Had to modify and reverse the rubber mounting mounting brackets to get it to work, but am now concerned about the mounting screw scratching my roof when I put items in the basket and secure them down. I might have to purchase taller cross rails to use this basket with the worry of my roof getting scratched up.

One year and counting for our awesome Rhino Rack. Not too hard to assemble onto the car. Once done, you can forget about it except to enjoy. It's sturdy, very attractive on our Subaru and the quality still shows after a year. We would absolutely buy this again!
So far so good - haven't loaded it up yet but seems like it will be perfect for hauling all my gear to the beach and beyond. Install was straightforward and I didn't notice any wind noise or vibration on my commute in. I had gone back and forth on a number of different lengths and models (including the KUAT) because I wanted a rack that didn't look too squatty or disproportionate on my Pathfinder. I think this wound up being the perfect size.
Really like this rack. Very easy to assemble and mount to my car. This is the only one that has adjustable mounts that run vertically. This made mounting it to my 2018 Explorer very easy as the cross bars are fixed position at 39".

Works just as I planned. Made a couple of trips to the airport to pick up several guests and the luggage rack performed as expected. Very happy with this product. Well done!
