Inno Fork Lock III on roof

The Inno Fork Lock III fork-mount carrier lets you transport 1 bike on the roof of your vehicle. A 9-mm quick-release skewer secures your bike's front fork, and a ratcheting strap holds the rear tire. The carrier clamps onto most crossbars with no tools required. A locking cover secures your bike to the carrier and the carrier to your crossbars.

Fork Block with 9-mm Skewer

Inno Fork Lock III with skewer openInno Fork Lock III with skewer closed

The fork block includes a 9-mm quick-release skewer with an oversize handle. To mount your bike, simply open the handle, lower your bike fork into the skewer, tighten the adjuster, and close the handle. The adjuster will spin freely once your skewer is secure to prevent over-tightening.

Adjustable Rear-Wheel Strap

Inno Fork Lock III rear wheel strap

A v-shaped wheel tray holds tires up to 2-11/16" wide. The rear wheel is secured by a strap that slides along the tray to accommodate bikes of different lengths. The strap ratchets down on both sides of the rear tire to ensure a tight fit.

Easy Installation

Inno Fork Lock III front cover diagram open

The rack installs easily with included mounting hardware - no tools required. Just open the front cover and lift the front lever so you can remove the square nut from the mounting bracket.

Inno Fork Lock III front lock closed

Place the rack on your crossbar, slide the bolt into the open end of the bracket, and secure it in place with the square nut. Use the 2 hand knobs and the square nut to adjust the bracket to the size of the crossbar, then close the lever to tighten.

Inno Fork Lock III rear bracket

The rear mounting bracket secures to your crossbar with 2 bolts and 2 knobs. Simply place the bracket under the crossbar, slide the bolt into the bracket, and tighten with a hand knob.

Depending on the thickness of the crossbar, you may need to use the included spacer or rubber sheets to mount the rear hardware. Additionally, you will need the Inno long bolt kit (INISF725) to mount the rack on crossbars 1-1/8" - 2" thick.

Complete Security

Inno Fork Lock III locking cover openInno Fork Lock III locking cover closed

The Inno Fork Lock III has a locking cover that lets you secure your bike to the rack and your rack to the crossbars. The quick-release skewer handle is under the cover when closed and it cannot be opened unless the cover is unlocked. The front mounting hardware is also under the cover when the cover is locked.

The NA391 roof bike rack is sleek and stylish looking. It's light and seems to be pretty aerodynamic. At the same time, it appears to be pretty sturdy. Once clamped to my INNO roof rack system, I can grab the track of the roof bike rack and pull back and forth enough to rock the whole car without it moving on the roof rack system. I would give it 5 stars but for what I believe is a design flaw that INNO seems to have overlooked. Due to the curvature of the roof on the Tucson that the Inno rack system is mounted on, the front clamp of the bike rack does not sit flat on the INNO crossbars. The bike rack comes with a spacer to use under the rear clamp to level the rack. But the bolts on the clamp knobs are too short to use the spacer. I don't understand how INNO could miss this design flaw in their own product. Even with just the thin strips of rubber spacers on the bottom of the rack on top of the rear crossbar is almost too much for the bolts on the knobs. INNO needs to look into this flaw and correct it.

I have transported two bikes on the INNO roof rack system for several thousand miles without any issues and without any damage to the vehicle on which they are mounted. I am very satisfied with the quality and value, but for the issue regarding the racks being unlevel due to what I regard as a design flaw as noted in the original review. Its a little disappointing that as far as I know, the manufacturer has never responded to the issue I raised.

@Cullen Interesting - do the unlevel bars seem to cause any issues with the rack or does it just lead to a really annoying install?

by:

I like the bike racks…I ordered two for my INNO roof rack load bars…good quality and reasonably easy to install.
I did not realize etrailer also carried the same type of bike carrier that will slide directly into the T-Slot track, otherwise I would’ve gotten those instead…Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

by:

This rack is great. Seems strong and fits my Gary Fisher Mullet easily. Easy to set up. Best thing is Etrailers shipping and tracking. Literally shipped the night I ordered it. Etrailer is great and I would have no reservations about ordering from them.

by:

Had to really search for a roof-mounted fork rack for my Envoy with factory roof racks. Thule & Yakima do not make anything compatible withoutbuying their over-priced roof racks. I heard about Inno, and etrailer had the best price. I was still nervous when I received the rack, but install was straight forward and took about 15 mins. I centered the Inno rack on the vehicle because the factory racks are curved vertically. Fast communication & shipping from etrailer!

by:

Easy to install and works great with my Gary Fisher mountain bike. Plenty of clearance for the brake caliper! Used it in combination with my Rola roof rack on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Paula was a huge help with both my orders and making sure I got the right product for my vehicle! Excellent customer service!

by:

Product was very easy to install , very sturdy and well thought out rack. Great service form etrailer keep it up, would definitely recomment to my friends. Happy camper here. Cheers!

by:

Great product, easy and quick to setup, very stable. Delivery was on time as promised. I have using this Inno Fork Lock system for about a year now and like it a lot. Many thanks for etrailer.com team to create and manage website! Your videos really helped me to choose the right product.
Keep up a good work and thanks,

After two years of use I can confirm that that was the right purchase for us. No complains so far. Easy to put it on and take it off. Works for both mountain and road bikes. Steady and tight on the roof rack of my Ford Fusion. I would recommend this product to my friends. Thanks to Etrailer staff for keep doing great job!

by:

This is a adequate bike mount to take to the local park a few times, however, I made the giant mistake of using two of these bike mounts during a road trip to Alaska over the summer. The tensioning device (a bolt) consistently got loose to the point where I was having bikes fall off the top of my truck and dangle by the rear rubber strap. Eventually the bolts broke, and the entire mount became useless - I had to strap my bikes down to my roof for the 3500 mile return trip. Finally, while the rack locks to the cross beams, it does not lock the bike itself down, and a bike was stolen in Anchorage (necessitating another bike purchase and a secondary lock). In the future I will pony up the extra $100 and buy a quality bike rack.

by:

This bike rack is a cheaper option to many roof top bike racks that can exceed $200. The system is very rigged and I have loved the system so far. I live around very rough roads, and I have not had the skewer loosen up at all. Even if it did, I feel much better knowing that there is a locking plat over the skewer. With the plate cover being plastic, I still run a bike lock through my frame and roof bar just to add an extra line of defense when camping/leaving my vehicle for extended periods of time. For driving security, the cover does exactly what is intended to do. Overall, a fantastic system and I enjoyed the first class customer service I received when ordering the bike rack.

by:

I called etrailer with some very technical questions on fitment to my 2012 Mazda3. I spoke with Janeth, who worked hard to find answers and ultimately referred me to RHINO RACK to find out the size of the wrench needed.

The Mazda has fixed mounting points and a little stubby wrench must be used to tighten it to the studs on the roof. I wanted to use a ball ended allen key at at angle to save time installing and removing the rack regularly. A 10 mm ball end allen works perfectly with final tightening with the OEM wrench. A ratchet with 10mm allen socket or a flex shaft might also work.

The roof rack mounted easily and rigidly after glancing through the instructions. I got 3" longer crossbars than specced so the mounting charts weren't useful. I mounted the towers with the crossbars loose and tightened them afterward.

Thank you Janeth! You were really helpful.

by:

Great rooftop fork mount bike rack that seems like it will attach to just about any bar system or factory rack. Simple enough to install, seems durable and secure, with one minor drawback. The strap for the rear wheel is a rubber "pull to tighten" instead of a ski boot style clamp. I imagine this as difficult after those winter rides with frozen rubber and fingers... But working well in the summer.

by:

Ordered this bike rack for my wife's van. They said it would take 3 days for delivery got it in two days. Set up was easy. It took me longer to get the rack out of the box than it did to get it installed on the roof. Had to make small adjustment to get the bike to sit just right but it was easy. I have had all kinds of roof mounted bike racks in the past and I have to say this is with out question the easiest install and best looking rack I have used. It also has the best locking set up I have seen. No worries of someone staling it off your roof.

by:

I have owned this for a bit over a year now. I can not believe the price point for this high quality product. I don't understand why anyone would pay 2-3 times the price for other known brands. Makes no sense! I have become a huge fan of this product. Just a side note.... I called the manufacturer about a missing piece (no fault to eteailer or the manufacturer. I lost the piece). They sent me an entire pack of 4 (black crossbar side caps) without any push back. Customer for life!

by:

Good product with one exception> Works great on road bike forks but does not support moutian bike forks. You can buy and us an adapter but then you lose the ridgidness and the ability to lock the bike through the fork mount.

by:

Installed in about 5 minutes on my 2015 Honda Pilot factory crossbars and worked well on first use with a mountain bike. No noticeable wind noise when no bike is loaded.

by:

Great rack for very reasonable price. Good quality, easy installation, holds bike very securely, looks good on car.

by:

Easy to install , very strong

by:

Works as advertised. No problems or complaints. No wind noise at all. Makes transporting bikes much easier!

by:

I am very satisfied with my product that I ordered from you guys !

by:

by:

  • How to Transport 5 Bikes on 2008 VW Passat Wagon with Class I Trailer Hitch
You are correct that a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch like # C11096 has a 200-lb tongue weight (TW) capacity. However, when it comes to bike racks there is another factor that comes into play, leverage on the hitch tube. The more bikes the rack holds the longer it tends to be, naturally. This increased distance from the hitch to the outermost bike translates into extreme leverage forces on the hitch tube, forces that would damage a light-duty Class I hitch. For this reason all Class...

While the Inno Fork Lock Roof Bike Rack # INXA391 attches to most crossbars with top channels, we cannot confirm with absolute certainty whether the channels on the Rola Roof Rack 59970 are compatible. This is because we do not have the specs available for the crossbars and we do not carry that specific product to take a measurement. However, for a more definite route, I recommend using the Inno Fork Lock III # INA391. This rack attaches with clamps instead of T-channel mounts, so you...

Having the SkyBox mounted off center won't cause a problem, but if possible I'd place the box in the middle and the bike racks on each side of it, in order to make loading and unloading the bikes easier.
