The Bomber is the perfect solution for carrying 3 bikes on your vehicle's roof if you don't already have a roof rack installed. Vacuum cups attach in seconds to the roof, trunk, or glass on your car, SUV, van, motorhome, or trailer. Because it doesn't require a permanent installation, the Bomber is great for transporting your bikes when you're traveling by rental car. And if you're worried that vacuum cups won't stay attached to your vehicle, you can rest assured because each vacuum cup provides 210 lbs of suction, giving you a total of 1,680 lbs of pull strength. Your bikes aren't going anywhere! Additionally, the rack stores easily in your trunk or garage when not in use, or in a duffle bag while traveling.
SeaSucker vacuum cups are designed to install on your vehicle without causing dents or scratches. They will attach to most non-porous surfaces including metal, glass, and fiberglass. Each 6" cup is rated to hold up to 210 lbs. The housing and plunger are constructed of durable plastic with rustproof stainless-steel hardware, and the rubber pad is UV resistant up to 5 years. The included Lube Tube lets you keep the plungers in working condition.
To install the rack, make sure the mounting surface is clean, moisten the surface of each cup, place the rack on your roof, trunk, or window glass, then press each plunger several times until the orange bands disappear. Depending on the surface they're mounted to and the load being put on them, suction in the cups will decrease over time. Make sure to check the plungers before you get into your vehicle. When you see the orange indicator bands show simply re-pump the plungers.
To load your bikes, remove their front tires and place the front forks into the mounts and clamp them in place. Pre-drilled holes on the surface of the plank let you customize the fork blocks' positions to prevent your bike's handlebars from bumping.
Crank arm straps prevent your pedals from hitting your roof and scratching your vehicle. Rotate your bike's crank arms parallel with the chain stays and wrap the hook-and-loop crank arm straps around both.
Place the rear vacuum cups where your rear tires sit, pump the plungers until the orange bands disappear, then wrap the hook-and-loop straps around the tires to secure them in place. The straps are 22" long so they will easily accommodate fat bike tires.
To break the seal on each cup and remove the rack from your vehicle, simply pull the T-shaped tabs up and towards the center of the cups - it's that easy. Remove the body and rear vacuum cups and store them in your trunk or garage, or put it in a duffle bag to take with you.
The Bomber can be used with 9-mm quick-release plugs and skewers (sold separately). For different axle sizes, you can easily swap out the following plugs (sold separately) to accommodate your bike's front hub:
The Bomber body is made of a high-density polyethylene that is strong, durable, and weather-resistant. The 3/4" thick plank is strong enough to hold 3 bikes of any size or style, yet flexible enough to contour to the shape of your vehicle. The fork mounts are made from solid steel and have a black powder coat to prevent corrosion. HUSKE plugs are made of durable plastic.
If you don't have room in your vehicle to store your front tires, you can use a Hogg (298BA1580 - sold separately) with each bike to mount the tire to your bike's rear-wheel axle. You can also use a Flight Deck (298-BV1022 - sold separately) with each bike, which replaces the rear vacuum cup with a dual mount so you can attach your front wheel next to your rear wheel.
