The ProRide XT lets you transport 1 bike by the frame on your roof rack. It's lighter and easier to load than most roof-mount bike racks, and it installs quickly on most crossbars with the included hardware. A padded clamp with a torque limiter knob grips your bike by the downtube without over-tightening, and sliding wheel cradles accommodate bikes of different lengths. You can also add One-Key System locks to secure your bike and the rack.
The ProRide XT is extremely easy to load. Simply set your bike on the rack, position the clamp around the base of the downtube, and tighten the clamp with the torque-limiting dial. Secure the wheels to the cradles with the ratcheting straps.
The clamp has soft, flexible TPE pads that grip your bike by the downtube. These pads conform to the shape of your bike's frame so that pressure is distributed evenly around the tube. The lower jaw has an extension that stabilizes your bike during the loading process.
Use the torque limiter dial located at the base of the arm to tighten the clamp. The dial limits the amount of torque you can put on the clamp to help prevent over-tightening that can damage your bike's frame. You will hear a click when you've reached optimal pressure. Push the gray button on the knob to release the clamp so you can remove your bike from the rack.
If you have a bike with a carbon frame you can use a frame protector (sold separately) to carry your bike on the rack. The frame protector has a soft rubber liner that distributes pressure over a large surface area so your bike doesn't get scratched or damaged.
The clamp arm can be mounted on either side of the rack so you can load your bike from the driver's- or passenger's-side of your vehicle. The arm also folds down when not in use to increase overhead clearance and to allow the rack to remain installed when parking in a garage or other area with a low ceiling.
The front- and rear-wheel cradles slide along the wheel tray to accommodate bikes of different lengths. Both cradles have a ratcheting strap that secures diagonally across the bike wheels. This creates more surface contact and improves stability when compared with standard cradle straps. To undo the straps simply press the quick-release buttons. You can also remove the standard wheel straps and replace them with extra-long straps (sold separately) to transport a fat bike.
The rack can be mounted to your crossbar T-tracks or clamp on for installation with no tools required. To install the rack using the T-tracks, just insert the short T-bolts into the bottom of the rack, slide the T-bolts into the channels on your crossbars, and tighten them down using the cam-action levers.
You can also clamp the rack around your crossbars. Simply set the rack on your crossbars, slide the long T-bolts into the open ends of the mounting brackets, and tighten down the cam-action levers.
You can add One-Key System lock cylinders (sold separately) to the torque limiter to lock your bike to the rack and to the clamp to lock the rack to your vehicle. These lock cylinders can be swapped out to make all of your Thule accessories keyed alike.

Easy installation on most crossbars. We now have 4 of these bike racks and love them. etrailer did an awesome job processing our order quickly and when 2 of them arrived with missing end caps, they quickly rectified the situation and sent the replacement parts quickly so we were able to make our trip as scheduled. Great customer service.
Of all the Thule products I have purchased over the last 25 years, this is the worst and has been returned under warranty at my expense after not holding the bike on the roof and damaged the vehicle. Engagement onto front wheel is not secure. Thule should eol this product asap.
Thule never disappoints! I’ve had my Thule Roof Rack for over 10 years and final added the Thule Proride Xt Roof Bike Rack. Best investment for my ‘09 Mini Cooper
It's a pretty good roof rack, and works well for my Polygon mountain bike. The jaws do not open far enough to work with my Ride1Up 700 electric bike.
I bought two of these to carry mountain and road bikes on the roof of my Polestar 2, and they work perfectly for that. I also bought a cheap, hitch-mounted cargo rack from a well-known, cheap tool retailer and modified it to hold both of these so I could take my heavier eBikes places on the back of my truck. Unfortunately, the jaws don't open wide enough to engulf the fat frame of the Ride1Up 700 eBike, so I can only take my smaller-framed eBikes (I have a bike addiction :). Overall, if you just need to carry normal pedal bikes places, this roof rack has got you covered. If you've got a weird shaped or sized bike, your mileage may vary.
I bought two of these racks. Installed easily on my Rogue. You must have cross bars on the car to install this rack. Needed to by a two-step step stool so I could get the bike on the roof. Took a bit to figure out I had to support the front fork while tightening the frame support. Otherwise, the bike will want to roll off the rack. Another word of advice, if you store the rack inside the house, then tape all of the hardware to the rack. Some how I lost two pieces of hardware carrying the rack from the basement to the car. Ended up having to purchase additional hardware.
To accompany my Malone crossbars, I chose this roof rack. I saved a lot by buying the Malone crossbars, so that allowed me to spend more on the actual bike rack itself. Although, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable even this was. Grabs onto the bike frame with serious vigor, and the wheel trays allow for proper adjustment to agree with the wheelbase of pretty much anything you've got. For the record, I have a Surly Straggler, and it's a perfect match.
You'll need to buy the Thule locks if you want to add any security.
No problems with the product. Installed fine, although the instructions are pictures with arrows and symbols, a little hard to understand. It is easy to load and unload the bike and it holds the bike nice and firmly.
I was a bit dismayed at the condition of the Thule box (torn and crumpled, arrived not packed in a shipping carton) and the rack inside was scuffed in a few places. Maybe something happened on the UPS truck? Never had problems before with any etrailer products.
Nonetheless I really like my new bike rack and am glad I bought it.
This is a very good rack. Really well made, secure, sturdy. Takes a little practice to get the bike up on it and settled. This does not fit in the Mini Cooper OEM cross rails. I was able to order the right Thule threaded fasteners with square plates from England from another source. For some reason Thule does not supply them to the US Market.
Great rack! I can only think of one negative and that is that it can be tough to get the bike secured if you're using this with a taller vehicle, like my Forrester. I'm 6'3" and sometimes it can be a struggle to get the bike locked in without it moving around and becoming hard to manage. I think it would be perfect with something like an Outback though.
Appreciate the expedited shipping. Bike rack was packaged well and the team at eTrailer made sure the bike rack arrived before my son left for college. He was able to install the bike rack including his mountain bike in 15 minutes and is very pleased with the quality.
Purchased these for my new roof rack mounted bike carrier, worked great.
It screams quality. Very easy to install. If you get confused just there are a few very good install videos on [online video].
Wow. Perhaps the BEST online transaction ever etrailer has stuff others don’t at a great price and free shipping. I love these guys.
Had this item shipped missing parts and manual. They took care of the issue right away and got me a replacement asap!
Good product here, it seems, after initial setup. Only complaint I have so far is that it was not packaged and shipped well, and the box came heavily damaged with the product sliding out. Luckily no damage to the product.
Love the rack. So easy to install. Love the email updates of the order process. My order order so quickly. Would order again from etrailer for sure !!!
Easy to use and very sturdy. Great for bikes with fenders “cruiser bikes”. No issues after one year of use.
Was missing an end cap but was quickly replaced. One of the boxes came severely damaged
Well, this started as a confused customer looking for assistance in ordering the right stuff the first time. I Emailed customer service and with the day they had responded with the answers to everything. I will not use another supplier.
Easy to install would be nice if locking mechanism was included.
Great product, awesome price, and great customer service
