Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2016 Ford Escape

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test-fitting Inno Aero Crossbar roof rack system consisting of part numbers INXB115-2, those would be the crossbars themselves, part number INXS200, those are going to be the flush feet for the Aero crossbars, and then part number INK628, which are going to be the clamps which hold the roof rack into place on your roof. As you can see, we already have the front one installed, measured out where it needs to be. We'll go ahead and show you how the rear one gets put into place. We have it partially assembled already. We'll go ahead and show you how it actually goes in. Right now the crossbar itself is turned upside down. We're going to slide out this piece here, taking our little bracket here, put that into place.

Then we'll slide that back in like so. Then we take our remaining foot. Take this portion here and placing it in this slot like so. We'll begin to push it out and we'll loosely tighten the Allen head screw here to hold it in place. Then we'll take our measuring tape here to make sure that the spread between the two feet is what it needs to be in accordance with the instructions, which that looks to be the right mark.

Go ahead and finish tightening that down. All right. With that held in place now, we're going to take our pads for our feet, and place those in. You'll see the two points here which will fit into these indentations, then these indentations which will go around the screws. Match them up, and push them in. Next, we'll take our actual clamps which are numbered right here. The instructions will tell you which ones are for the rear and which ones are for the front.

We'll go to our screw here, and undo it. Place the clamp. We'll loosely tighten this up just to hold the clamp in place for now. We'll do the same for the other side. Now we'll go ahead and open up our rear doors here, and we'll set our rear bar in place. The feet are labeled which side goes where, right and left.

We'll set them down for now, until we can get them spaced right where we need them. Here's the label here I was talking about earlier which indicates this is going to be on the right side of the vehicle. The way that we measured it for the front crossbar, is you measure from the center of the door jamb here to the center of the bar. We'll do that the same for the rear. You will find this on your instructions where it needs to be at. Still got a ways to move back. We'll do the same for the other side. Push that up just a hair. Double-check our measurement again on this side just to be sure. All right, now we can start tightening them down. We're going to snug it up real quick on both sides, making sure the clamps will make contact with our door jamb there, or door sill I should say. This tool does come with the kit, and hopefully you don't drop it like I did. Started there. Once we get them snug, we're going to go ahead and give them about five or six turns each side. Keep on doing this back and forth, until it's completely tightened down. With this tool, once it's completely tightened or torqued to specifications, you're going to hear a clicking sound when you turn it. Like that. All right. Our final step is we're going to put our covers on at the ends. Give it that nice finished look. These do come with locks. It's a nice bit of security to keep your roof rack on your vehicle. All right. There you have it for the Inno Aero crossbar roof rack system on our 2016 Ford Escape.

I am a fifty-four year old single woman and being able to install these roof racks by myself makes me feel empowered!!
I watched a video emailed with my delivery confirmation of an installation on a similar vehicle all the way through first, and then watched it again as I did the steps myself, pausing when I needed to.
The products appear to be of high quality, were packaged/shipped neatly and it was easy to organize everything for installation. I couldn't be happier!

Review from a similar Fit Hooks in Roof Rack

I am more than pleased by the service that I had at etrailer. I was looking for a very old roof rack for my Subaru Legacy 2007 and etrailer had it. I was suspicius about it so I wrote them and got a quick and friendly answer that confirmed the fit and availability. Delivery was quick and the tracking from etrailer website was outstanding.

Once again etrailer.com delivers. Finding a crossbar solution for my 2021 Lexus GX 460 was far more challenging than expected until I visited the site and found exactly what I needed. The fit kit worked great and the quality of the feet and crossbars on par or better than other brands (who dropped the ball on having a product available for this vehicle). The rack is on, secure and now carrying my Thule cargo box. Very happy.

etrailer was great to order from! Going to the website makes it easy to see what roof rack will fit your vehicle. Ordering process was a breeze and the fulfillment updates were great. Ordered on the 13th and received it on the 16th so the FREE shipping was super fast. New installs of anything can always be challenging but once I read the the instructions it all went pretty smooth. Installing this Inno Roof Rack onto our 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport was pretty simple and took less than an hours from start to finish. Now we are ready to load up out Thule cargo carrier when we hit the road.

Install was straight forward, read the instructions of both the hooks and the bars as they are different per vehicle. Build quality initially seems very good. Fit and finish superb. If you’re looking for a rack that is low drag and low noise this one is super quiet, even with a Yakima Skybox on it it’s quiet. Will update with mpg effect later.

Great system. Got it installed the night before a road trip, and once you get the hang of if, assembly is easy and intuitive. This system is rock solid and well done.

Things I wish I knew that would have helped in my decision:

1) After you install the footbeds, the rails and tower easily remove as one unit in the future, and they include little covers to put over the feet. No more long debates about wind noise. If you find them modify or don’t like the look, take it off in five minutes. Even the Allen wrench is stored neatly in the rack.
2) I had been a long time Yakima user, so that’s where I started with my GX rack. Having searched far and wide for landing pads, I was all set. Step one of the Yakima system: remove factory rails. Having just spent good money on this truck, I’m not taking off factory rails and adding silicone around the holes to create new mounting points. Innos fits nicely to the factory rails.

One side fits tight, the other doesn't. The instructions recommends a gap takes place between the roof and foot pads. The side with the gap slips even when fully tight. Will call Inno

Comments
This generally happens when the measurements are off. We recommend that you remeasure the gap that is between the roof and foot pads.

Great fit for a 2015 Honda Civic SI. If putting a long boat (17' Mad River pictured), the Thule canoe clamps are recommended. Without them, highway speeds would be risky if at all possible. I was pleasantly surprised out how stable the boat was on the rack without the clamps.

Review from a similar Fit Hooks in Roof Rack

I purchased the Inno Rack system and Rhino Rack 581 saddles for my 2007 Mercury Montego. The instructions were easy to follow, and the rack is rock solid. It makes loading and unloading my kayak a breeze. I previously used roof pads and that was ridiculous compared to what this rack does for me now. I am amazed with how quiet with and without the kayak attached is - I don’t hear anything except the very slightest amount of wind with the windows open on the highway. I always have put a one turn twist in the bow and stern straps, but for the rest they’re all straight. I added an extra strap on the rear crossbar that goes behind the rear combing of my cockpit for extra security- but that’s just me. I’ve included a photo to show my setup. Thank you so much Mark S, Becky B, Carol C, and George J. etrailer rocks.

These cross bars are great. Bought them for load capacity at this budget friendly price. They exceed my expectations and do what they are designed to do. Sturdy and great look! Not an aerodynamic design, leading to plenty of wind noise, but that wasn’t a dealbreaker for me.

The Inno roof rack fit my 2014 Honda CRV very well. I used it immediately on a 500 mile trip and the rack is fantastic. I connected an XL Thule car box and 11'-6" paddle board to the rack and everything fit fine. The aero design is great and we did not hear any noise during the trip.

Review from a similar Fit Hooks in Roof Rack

Rack detached from my roof on the highway at about 70mph, taking my cargo container with it. Luckily, no one was behind me as it would have very easily caused an accident. Customer service was terrible and didn’t accept a return. Damaged the contents of the cargo container.Do not buy this product or from this company as they will not help.

Comments
There are a lot of factors involved when installing and using a roof rack. For the 2018 Ford Focus Sedan the roof rack capacity is 120 pounds although you would want to also check that the manual says for the vehicle. Before tightening anything down you will want to look at the instructions to find the proper spread between the bars and also the feet. Once that is down you will take the included Allen tool and tighten down the bolt. Next you will install the fit kit which will have you start with the foot pad. The foot pad will line up with the holes at the bottom of the foot. These will push into place and are numbered so that the right pad lines up with the right foot. To install the clamp you will remove the screw from the outside and loosely tighten it up to hold the clamp into place. The next step is to measure from the center of the doorjamb you will get the measurement to the center of the bar. You will find this in your instructions. Repeat on the other side. Then you will take the tightening tool and snug it up against the door. You will do this on the passenger side as well. Then you will go back and forth from drivers to passenger side giving about five or six turns each time until its completely tightened down. When it makes the clicking sound you will know its completely tied down. You do not want to over tighten it.

Review from a similar Fit Hooks in Roof Rack

I bought these as part of a kit with 60" Aero bars and the appropriate kit for my 14 Flex. I spent probably an hour and a half double checking my measurements and getting them torqued down properly. I spaced the bars on top of the car just a little wider than proscribed because I was planning on carrying 4x8 plywood, and it looked better to my eye. One thing to watch for: The instructions for the car-specific kit (in my case INK263) show the foot spacing measurements for a square bar, and the measuring point for these feet and Aero bars is different. That measurement point is indicated in the instructions for the feet, not the kit. Same numbers, just different reference point. Otherwise, they look good and are rock solid.

These racks are great, I did a ton of research to find something that would work for me since I didn’t have roof rails on my Kia Sportage. There are a lot of small pieces so installation was a little intimidating but it went smoothly. I’m not planning on using them for a ton of weight and more for looks. I’m not sure how they’d hold up as functional racks.

Install was pretty easy, and feels very secure. Will have our first drive using the racks this weekend so I will update if necessary. Overall we are very happy with the racks. No drilling or work required on the vehicle, which is great, and the got them installed in a couple of hours of casual effort.

Everything is good so far...the Inno rack system appears to made of good quality, fit and finish...it took about 2-hrs to get everything built, lined up, adjusted, tightened, loosened, repositioned, then retightened down...but I’m a bit of a perfectionist with things like this...plus I was checking my Saris cargo bin and various attachments, make sure that they’d all, which they do! And very well I might add...I just need to buy some new square carriage bolts for the channel now, along with new knobs...hoping that etrailer will get back to me with info soon...I will likely get a new wind deflector too...yesterday I did a test drive, was very pleased with the minimal whistling that occurred, and that was primarily between 30-40 mph and it was much quieter than my old Saris Roof Rack....after 40 mph the whistling got much quieter, very faint high highway speeds

We bought this along with the INTR - Inno Feet for Square Crossbars. We used this to mount Thule crossbars and a Thule Adventurer cargo box on a 2001 Subaru Forester. Everything fit perfectly. The Inno mounts were completely compatible with the Thule crossbars. The fast and accurate shipping helped avert a crisis before a cross country trip.

I got the whole kit...on Marc C's recommendation. He was so very patient and helpful! The kit is great. I am not so versed in doing such things so my neighbor put it on the car for me. He was just over and over again extolling the Praises of the instructions. He said they're the best ones he ever used. It fits on the car, it feels solid, and it looks great. I'm very very happy with it. Thank you so much!

Inno has their act together. The only thing you need to install this rack is a box knife to open the boxes.
The rack was a perfect fit. The instructions are easy to understand. It assembled quickly and is secure when installed on the roof.
